I literally only just started watching this right now, just got to episode 3 and i'm surprised how it's pretty much exactly like the first 2 seasons. Was this well received? Or even like, received at all? I'm not from the US so I can't even legally watch this.
Also jesus christ I know it's not on CN anymore but like, 10+ kids died in the first 3 episodes alone. PLUS THAT GORE SCENE WITH HALO WHAT THE FUCK
I'm amazed at the restraint they show. Aside from a few jokes and deaths tonally it's the same show
Julian Morales
Reception seemed pretty good, but there's honestly not that much due to it being limited to DC Universe. There's probably people even now who don't know the show's back.
I personally think so far it's not as good as season one, but way better than season two.
Brody Gonzalez
>Black Lightning kills a young girl forcibly transformed into a monster >Batman: Awesome, want to join my team? >A cop tries to shoot the Joker >Batman: what the fuck
Justin Gomez
I love it but I'm worried about the next batch of episodes. GeoForce is ok but i don't want the focus to be all on him. Frank Bugg (with two G's) is ok. Halo, meh. Her powers are deus ex machina. 8/10 so far.
Please more Conner and they better bring back Wally, damn it.
Wyatt Price
It was well received but then immediately fell out of the public eye. It's only really watched by hardcore DC fans who also like action cartoons, which is a very small demographic
Juan Sullivan
The ending animations annoyed me more than they should've, probably. I see what they were going for, with that Gravity Falls-like thing, but it's like they didn't think it through one bit after the initial idea and super half-assed it so we always saw wolf sleeping.
Easton Smith
still like 3 months left till the second half right?
Charles Allen
I wanted to hate that, but it didn't seem worth getting upset about. It also balanced out all the kid killing that happens. It's cool they aren't shying away from it, but some of that shit is excessive in frequency, if not intensity: weakens the impact of future gore.
Christopher Johnson
I like it a lot more than Invasion. It features a better group of characters this time around and its not as exposition heavy and has more focus. Tonally its a bit off since the gorey scenes come out of fucking nowhere like Cyborg's origin scene but the show has been pretty solid so far.
David White
>It's cool they aren't shying away from it, but some of that shit is excessive in frequency, if not intensity: weakens the impact of future gore.
Halo seems to get killed every other episode, which lessens any emotional impact because the audience knows that she'll be okay a couple of scenes later.
Tyler Peterson
3-episodes a week for four weeks isn't as bad as the way Netflix releases stuff but it's still a poor way to get long-term viewer engagement.
These type of shows are made for hardcore fans, YJ is the most upvoted post ever by a huge margin on the DC subreddit after all. Kinda reminds me of Star Wars The Clone Wars in that sense.
Ian Hughes
>Halo, meh. Her powers are deus ex machina. 8/10 so far. They pretty much established her character anyways.
Henry Lee
We pretty much know nothing of this Batman's view of Guns aside from whatever Bat Memes exist. He could be understanding of Jefferson or be of the mindset that they're currently at war at a severe disadvantage against a foe that can put living shields in front of them.
...this is a Batman who can't Batgod his way out of things and people dying.
Evan Evans
>>A cop tries to shoot the Joker The Joker is in this one? Brent Spiner's Joker or a different one altogether?
Bentley Ramirez
They should have just let Brent play himself like a mix of Lore and Puck. The guy can definitely play the part of crazed but fun loving maniac.
Jack Barnes
If he ever reappears I wonder if they will recast him with Troy Baker (or someone else) or if they will just call Brent Spinet again, I know Weisman is friends with him.
Jace Lee
They oughta cast John Dimaggio and use that Joker Model. They've already borrowed character models from the animated movies, like Lois and the Parademons.
Joseph Sanchez
So does your mom, but we didn't make a post about it
Julian Murphy
I kinda liked Spiner. But maybe different direction.
Ryder Allen
>PLUS THAT GORE SCENE WITH HALO WHAT THE FUCK Get used to that
Evan Cooper
How are the comics? Apparently those are the only way for me to know what happened to Ocean Master between Season 1 and now.
Camden Harris
Meh. Those don't actually tell you what happened to Oceanmaster.
Benjamin Robinson
I get the impression they wrote killing off Oceanmaster before the Aquaman movie was successful
Levi Moore
Not a fan of some of the character and costume updated re-designs.
Josiah King
They're okay. Kind of feel like in between episodes, but half are forgettable. The stuff with Ocean Master and Tula is in the video game though, just watch a cutscene compilation of that.
Christopher Phillips
Yes and no. The episodes were written around 2017 but I don't think the YJ team is forced in any way to make synergy with the movies like Disney forces with Marvel.
Jose Watson
They only borrowed from the DCAMU because both are made by the same character designer, weirdly enough, Joker hasn't appeared yet in there. Under The Red Hood had another character designer.
Austin Wright
The face power girl isn't in every episode is why it's bad
Charles Gutierrez
I'm really enjoying it. They got right back in the habit pretty seamlessly. I hope it gets at least one more 26 ep order because it does have a strong enough following to warrant it and enough storytelling potential.
Michael Cook
I think they've minimized the Joker's presence because A) he dominates whatever story he's in and B) the Light is smart enough to know he's too unpredictable to be considered an asset, especially to Vandal's humanistic goals.
Kayden Peterson
>They oughta cast John Dimaggio and use that Joker Model. please, no.
Ian Morgan
He’s making an appearance in Batman Hush which’ll be part of that JLWar continuity
