only a handful of reviews in but they're eviscerating it
>Ironically enough, the romantic Hellboy and the Hellboy with the monster dicks in it are two completely different movies. In typical fairy-tale fashion, Guillermo del Toro’s 2004 film version of Mike Mignola’s comics series framed the demon-turned-demon hunter through the lens of a lovesick teenager. The new reboot of the franchise also approaches Hellboy from an adolescent point of view, but with a distinct variation on the concept: This is the sneering form of the word frequently lobbed at Transformers movies, the kind that prioritizes guitar riffs, sarcastic one-liners, and blustering tumbleweeds of CGI creatures wrestling each other.
>Harbour, so endearing as Sheriff Hopper on Stranger Things, has none of the agreeable humor Ron Perlman brought to the character; as a result, his many quips go over like a fart in an elevator. The makeup is wearing him, to the extent that it takes a while to get used to his voice coming out of Hellboy’s body. Sasha Lane and Daniel Dae Kim’s supporting roles are similarly disjointed; both are fine characters with comic-book origins, but they’re shoehorned in so awkwardly that they feel superfluous. McShane glides by on how much everyone loves it when he says the word “fuck,” leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film.
Time to break out the official Hellboy whiskey and official Hellboy beer.
What did Hellboy fans do to deserve this and The Devil You Know?
Brody Hill
Ok.
Hunter Murphy
>McShane glides by on how much everyone loves it when he says the word “fuck,” leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film. All I needed to hear
Christopher Brooks
Fuck this movie and fuck Mike Mignola
Jason Brooks
Man I was really hoping that between the new movie, HB's appearance in InJustice 2, and Hellboy in Hell ending recently, the character would see some resurgence in popularity.
Isaiah Price
I shall screencap this to laugh at you at a later date.
Jace Brooks
It's tracking for 20 million, less than half of what Shazam did, and will probably dive lower than that after these reviews.
Hunter Rivera
I like it how now he's pretending to have never liked the two GDT movies now (even though he was fairly involved with them and publicly praised them for years afterwards) just to try and save face.
Anthony Johnson
C'mon man, not even you believe that.
Carson Hughes
Del Taco sucks and you're still a fake fan
Asher Moore
>Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film. That is not a sentence I ever expected to read. Oh dear.
Kayden Scott
>...Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film Damn. . . this movie has got to be fucking terrible for this sentence to have ever been written.
Liam Gutierrez
I won't hear a bad word about Cronos.
Don't forget she's in the godawful-looking MonHun movie next year as well.
>tfw going to see this with my dad tomorrow I was hoping this was going to be at least mediocre because he was so excited for it, but now it looks like I'm going to have suffer through quip city.
Oliver Morgan
>Fantasy propery >Ian McShane He's a great actor but everything from the genre he touches turns to shit.
Cooper Ross
It won't happen, but if it is going to beat Flopzam i'm gonna laugh so hard.
Joseph Edwards
>11%
Shit son. Did they throw a basket of puppies into a blender or something?
"Didn't read" is right, this is literally unreadable
Jackson Taylor
It won't make its budget back. I guarantee it.
Adam Anderson
Are you illiterate? How is it unreadable.
Kayden Reyes
i agree that the movie looks like utter dogshit and yet i want to slap you for posting your epic oc in every remotely fucking related thread
Brandon Nelson
That's your tl;dr?
That's way tl so I dr.
Leo James
You just posted a bunch of walls of text and expect people to follow your schizophrenic train of thought.
Brandon Wood
Stop letting RT controller your mind
Chase Scott
But we all were saying the movie looked like complete shit for months.
Gabriel Cooper
Mike, I have bought basically all the books of your universe for 15 years and as a longtime fan and reader let me tell you, eat shit you fucking boomer, I hope you never get another deal while you live.
Jackson Kelly
Man Mignola signing off on this and burning GDT's movies is a pretty damning sign he's officially washed as a creator
Elijah Reed
Don't let any false narrative in your head. Anyone who has been in these threads and has been following this movie since day 1 knows that this is 100% on Mike.
Jack Cook
As far as I am concerned BRPD ended when the Ogdru Jahad died. The Devil You Know was just too mean spirited.
Kevin Kelly
>too mean spirited The rallying cry of the terminally autistic.
Daniel Edwards
Oh eat shit, Mignola is creatively tapped. it's been clear for a long time. He doesn't deserve readers when all he's got is making you watch him kill and torture and ruin the great characters he used to be able to write.
Jordan Davis
>why is this dark fantasy series so dark???? Settle down, aspie.
Adrian Wilson
Oh.
So you're stupid.
Oliver Stewart
Well what the fuck is he supposed to say? Him badmouthing it is likely to get him sued
Owen Carter
>DONT CRITICIZE MY FICTION I WANT TO EAT SHIT LET ME EAT SHIT NOM NOM NOM MMMM DELICIOUS SHIT
Camden Perry
Who are you quoting?
Jayden Brooks
To be fair, we've been told for 25 years it's all going to go to shit but that the characters can make a difference to how it goes. We knew it was going to happen and everyone would die, what I can't forgive is the absursly rushed and apathetic way it was done, anticlimax my ass this is a creator just abandoning his project and giving his audience a finger dipped in his own diahrreic shit.
Aiden Turner
Oh look, a written mental breakdown.
Zachary Reyes
>you're not brain damaged like me so you're dumb >please upvote my epic OC
Ayden Kelly
>Lionsgate is desperate enough to pay people to defend their shit movie in a cantonese puppet trading post.

This is going to wind up with a worse rating than Fan4stic. I knew it would be bad because of it's late embargo but this is to much. Shut up you fucking retard
Kayden Wright

If you're going to make one of those ebin Yea Forums collages the least you can do is not make it look like a psychotic teenage girl's photo album.
Josiah Murphy
Who cares what the fuck Grace says? She's fucking retarded man. Don't get me wrong, the film is probably irredeemable but don't go waving around that airheads dogshit opinions
Sebastian Baker
You said this about Mortal Engines, Ladderbro. Just give up.
Isaac Martin
Still putting the finishing touches on the Shazam timeline. Thanks for this post.
I think that guy may have just been joking. I don't even think Ladderbro is that moronic
Lucas Nguyen
There's an "N" in the appropiate font right there at the right bottom.
Joshua Ross
WOW character dual wielding a bow and a two handed sword.
Mila, one letter from MILF.
Nolan Parker
I fully expect this to get lost within his discussion but I just finished reading The Lost Army novel. Anybody read it?
I’ve never read anything but the canon stories but goddamn the novel was fun. THAT is the way I wish a Hellboy movie would turn out. With him as a living, feeling almost-human and not just a literal quip machine
Xavier Martinez
Are they literally advertising a movie so that people can go watch it at another theatre? Why have they even got the poster?
Andrew Hill
That's the Joker movie tagline, not the Shazam! tagline
>leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film. amazing
Alexander Cox
I didn't know about this. Have you read the Baltimore novel that he did with the same guy Christopher Golden? I thought that was fantastic. If it's similar I'll check out the HB book.
If you still cared about this after Mila was hired you only have yourself to blame. The woman is nice but she literally can not physically be in a good movie in the 21st century
ladderbro genuinely believed shazam would open to 15 million and lose to pet sematary just because he read it on a forum
Jaxson Adams

did you mess up and make a thread for this instead of posting it here and delete it yourself or did mods kill it because this is barely relevant
Jayden Cruz
The first one
Anthony Thompson
All is forgiven if we see milla nude
Brandon Jackson
No I have not read the Baltimore book, but this Hellboy one was a quick, fun read. Best I can relate it to is if you’ve ever read the Indiana Jones novels, the ones that came out in the 90s. Very similar feel. Also there are sporadic Mignola illustrations circa 1996 so all in all it was a treat.
Christian Edwards
Didn't she already get her mosquito bites out?
Parker Cox
He peaked at Conqueror Worm and it’s been downhill ever since.
i haven't even seen the del taco ones so no i just get some kind of sick pleasure out of seeing comic book movies fail miserably even if they're based on comics i like
Daniel Morales
What the fuck happened? Why reboot it if you aren't even going to try? Del Toro's 3rd film would've done way better than this.
Isaiah Myers
This feels like DmC: Devil May Cry all over again

This is not a summer box office movie. What the fuck were they thinking?
Jackson Allen

>How do I break the news to someone who's a huge fan of the comics and wants to see the movie with me? Don't. The RT rating is a percentile. 89% of the critics didn't think it was at least okay. You might be part of that 11% who enjoys it. If it's shit, oh well. At least you guys tried it and you got something to talk about after.
Joshua Davis
>89% of the critics didn't think it was at least okay Try 91%. We're at Fan4stic levels now
Jacob Cook
I heard commercials on the radio for this movie recently. No fucking joke, I honestly thought it was a commercial for Shazam at first. That deep voice making jokes that give me images of Ben fucking Ten, childish screaming out loud about the stupidest shit and the only thing I can picture, knowing there's no Ben 10 movie coming out, is Shazam, the next closest thing, a literal child in a man's body. The acting was SO BAD I thought it was on purpose to SHOW that it was a kid's mind in an adult body. When they finally said it was Hellboy, I was instantly wondering, wtf? That's not the Hellboy I know. Admittedly all I know about Hellboy was from Perlman's movies seen on TV years ago, and honestly, I didn't pay THAT much attention to it
Nolan Gray
>9% Well, shit.
Brody Martin
If she did she's legitimately mentally handicapped.
Luke Bailey
From the AP News review; "So underwhelming was this film that a recent screening in New York only sparked polite applause after it was finally over. And that was the red carpet premiere with all the cast in attendance. So even having Hellboy in the audience couldn’t whip up much enthusiasm for “Hellboy.”"
John Adams
The documentary they're gonna make about the succubus one day will be amazing. She devours all in her path.
Cameron Ward
Hellboy is kinda DC, isn't it?
Luke Hall
I lost all hope for the movie the moment I saw her in it.
Tyler Young
>read the first hellboy comic >his father dies >hellboy doesn't show any emotion whatsoever Are the comics this shitty when it comes to characterization?
Stephen King had a direct hand in all his worst afaptations.
JK Rowling has been slowly grinding her rep into the dirt with evdrything she adds to her franchise.
Sometimes no one ruins a series better than the creator.
Elijah Flores
Hellboy's entire thing is being unflappable. It's based on how Mignola's dad would come home from work and casually talk about somebody losing their fingers or whatnot. Also, by that point, Prof. Bruttenholm wasn't the father figure he was in the later comics. That characterization came later, no idea if the movies had anything to do with it, though.
Evan Brooks

Best cape movies of the 00s, del toro is a visonary and you can suck it
Jace Morales
Yep in Siberia. He's also much buffer than Del Toro's version
God damn it, no, I refuse to see it, even if there are monster dongs to be viewed...stop tempting me...

I will actually be stunned if it makes its budget back.

Alexander Stewart
>Mila Jovovitch is the best thing about a movie with David Harbour and Ian McShane in it Oh I'm laffin
Evan Thomas
Gaiman stepped away to do Good Omens after the first season, the original showrunners quit, season 1 went way over budget, and new showrunner was brought on but was fired after six months, multiple big name stars quit with the original showrunners, and basically it all went to shit
Justin Jackson
I might rewatch the Del Toro ones honestly, this thread has me feeling nostalgic.
Reboot looks like a big hunk of shit.
Tyler Jones
>leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film.
This, desu. It's prolly gonna be garbage but hey if you like Hellboy you'll prolly get some fun eviscerating it after if you don't actually enjoy yourselves.
Charles Sullivan
Yea pretty much this. It was so fucked one of the stars had to be credited as a writer by union rules because the dialogue was so fucked he and McShane were literally making it up on set.
Leo Jones
That actually makes me want to see it
Justin Davis
Picked up the novel ages ago and kept mea ing to read it. Now I need to read it and see what a trainwreck the show is.
Easton James
You’re misreading what the author of the review is trying to say with that line.
Daniel Reed
Really hole this leaks fast. No chance in hell I'm paying to see this trash but I'd watch anything HB just from curiosity
Mason Bailey
I even told my cousin's kid into horror and comics to avoid it and just buy the comic or read it at the library.
Nicholas Watson
Well she has years of experience in doing dogshit movies, after all. She's a professional.

This is the same lady who got the former CEO of WB fired because she was sleeping with him for roles btw.
Christopher Long
Jovovich is seriously in some shit movies. Like just seeing her as part of the cast is enough for me to peace out.
Joseph Parker
>leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film.
From what they showed in the trailers I was wondering how they would fit together HB's origin, Darkness Calls, the Wild Hunt, Baba Yaga, Hellboy in Mexico, Lobster Johnson, the BPRD stuff, etc. because I saw scenes from all of it
Apparently the answer is they didn't and the script is the most clunky cut and pasted piece of shit ever
Isaiah Gonzalez

Cronos is that adaptation of Phantom Blood, right?
It's down to 9% now, people are calling it the worst movie of the decade.

>There might be a reason behind such a poor critical response, as a new report from The Wrap indicates that tumultuous clashes took place behind the scenes between director Neil Marshall and producers Lloyd Levin and Lawrence Gordon.
>ComicBook.com confirmed with sources that Marshall was not happy with the final product, which is why the director did not attend the film's premiere.
>According to the report from The Wrap, many disagreements took place on the set. Sources say that Levin would constantly undermine Marshall in front of cast and crew, that actor David Harbour would refused to do more takes for the director and walked off set numerous times, and that a back-and-forth argument took place over the design of a tree that plays a pivotal role in the film.
>There was also an issue over the firing of cinematographer Sam McCurdy, who was replaced on the film by Lorenzo Senatore. McCurdy has a history working with Marshall and the two worked together on many fan-favorite episodes of Game of Thrones. According to the report, McCurdy was dismissed as a way of "sending a message" to Marshall.
Man, that cosplay tier sword is a fucking SAD movie prop.
Brody Wood
Not who you’re replying to, but fuck off. I’ve got a copy of Hellboy: Art of the Movie right next to me, and Mignola was deeply involved in the first film. Lost a huge amount of respect for him being such a two-faced backstabbing cunt to Del Toro in an attenmpt to squeeze a dime out of this shitty new film, and even more for what he did to Arcudi and Davis, essentially ruining the end of BPRD and Hellboy as a whole just to have things wrap up to coincide with this turd of a film.
Mason Phillips
Who would have thought Del Toro, Perlman and Doug Jones wouldn't be so easy to replace?! Oh wait, literally everybody. The sad part is the producers won't even suffer consequences.
Jose Cooper
>leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film.
Feel like he's been a "rising director" for about 10 years now
Hunter Rodriguez
Yea Marshall is a loser. Descent was a modern classic but he has far more misses than hits and it's never a good sign when your tv work is a highlight. This disaster will settle it, it's never happening for him.
Adrian Baker
Doomsday being a gigantic flop kinda killed his film career despite that movie being rad.
It sucks that this is so fucking terrible, but if he got Trank'd by the studio like some of these reports state then at least it's not all on him.
Lucas James
Didn't Marshall do Dog Soldiers and The Descent? Why do people call him an up-&-coming director, he's been in the game creating kino for decades.
Jordan Perry
The reports are saying he Tranked himself with the succubus, user
Noah Roberts
Didn't Trank sorta Trank'd himself though?
Michael Bennett
>leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film.
The first arc is pretty good but the pacing gets pretty bad in the second part
Anthony Phillips
I’d rather beat you, you toadying little cunt.
Christopher Gutierrez
So for someone not familiar with the term can anyone explains what Tranked means?
Jeremiah Campbell
Trank is the last name of that godawful Fantastic 4 film.
Landon Moore
Bury it.
Lucas Nelson
I meant, Trank is the last name of the director of that godawful Fantastic 4 film.
Henry Gomez
What a clusterfuck.
Ryan Nguyen
Common Billy, kiss Spider-Man.
Angel Anderson
This just depresses me, all I want is for things I like to get decent movies
Liam Campbell
Josh Trank was a director who was considered something of a rising star. His film Chronicle had been a critical and commercial success, he'd had an offer for Sony for a Venom movie (which he rejected because he was only interested in doing it if he had contractual assurance that Avi Arad wouldn't be involved, which naturally Sony wouldn't play ball with) and had a Star Wars Anthology movie in the bag. He'd been contacted by Fox for a Fantastic 4 reboot that was basically just their way of making sure that the rights didn't revert to Disney/Marvel like Daredevil had several years prior. Subsequently, through a combination of Trank's erratic drug-fuelled behaviour (making enemies of basically every leading actor/actress, trashing a rental house that the studio was paying for, publicly leaking production details on Yea Forums etc.) and studio interference, the movie was a critical and commercial flop, which caused Disney to cancel his SW movie and effectively killed his career.
Ian Clark
>toadying I don't care if this movie bombs, but your spamming makes me wish you were dead.
Grayson Cruz
Sure thing, Mike.
Thomas Bell
How pathetic Ladderbro
Ian Rogers
The Descent was an instant classic and Marshall did some of the best eps of GoT and Hannibal. Sounds like this movie got jewed by an arrogant producer.
Austin Collins
Fucking Disney shills
Asher Ward
>and studio interference At the end of the day, Fox was paying for a middling Fantastic Four movie, not a body-horror tale where Ben Grimm gets his famous catchphrase from being abused by his brother, and Dr. Doom looks like a melted action figure who makes people's heads de-rez. Like JUSTice League, the damage was just too extensive to fix with a tack-on action finale.
They should have just burnt down the film lot and all the copies with it and applied for insurance. Of course then Disney gets back the FF early on that move.
Is that supposed to be an insult? Mignola is one the greatest living comics creators. 'The Corpse' is a master class in storytelling. Cry more fa/tv/irgin.
Toby Kebbell doesn't even play Doctor Doom in that last reshot action scene, amusingly.
Logan Fisher
the notion of grown men bickering over whether a fictional tree should be symmetrical or asymmetrical is hilarious
Ayden Cooper
He wanted a 'horror-action' movie while the producer wanted an 'action-horror' movie and it didn't help that the producer is a Hollywood (((insider))). So once the director figured out he wasn't going to be able to actually direct a film he fucked off to Bulgaria for some poontang. Can't blame him desu
Carson Gutierrez
>Shazam >Flop Just because it didn't make billion doesnt make it a flop, Mousecuck
Ian Morales
>He and Zack should hang From the same tree if possible.
Robert Young
>arguing with a company shill you realise that there's a good chance your replying to a cellphone in a chinese warehouse right?
Jordan King
It's sad this bait still gets replies. It's ruse-posting, if you haven't figured it out by now. This guy posts something obnoxious, and as soon as the post timer resets he responds to himself with "OH NO LADDERBRO!!.."
Luke Perez
The idea that anyone would ever want to design a set piece tree as symmetrical is astounding. Fucking money laundering jewlywood producers. What useless cunts.
Michael Stewart
Symmetrical or Asymmetrical?
Ayden Rodriguez
well at least we'll always have all the pre-Roberson comics
>the movie was a critical and commercial flop, which caused Disney to cancel his SW movie and effectively killed his career.
No, you're getting the timeline wrong. He got removed from the SW project months before the release of Fant4stic. Though considering what a shitshow the production on other SW projects became, it would not have gone well if he stayed on board.
Carter Brown
No that dude is lying. He's still congratulating Del Toro for awards and wishing hi a happy birthday.
I meant Mignola, I just used that image because it seemed fitting.
Jordan Smith
This sounds like a total shit tycoon for the actors, I wonder how they felt furing production. Legit seems worse that what happened with Fan4tastic since that was basically Hell.
Hudson Wilson
Is this an edit? Tell me it's real.
Ethan Carter
it's real.
Sebastian Roberts
Can someone give me a rundown on the end of BPRD? I haven't really kept up with it in years. Is the ending really that horrible?
Isaiah Nguyen
That girl is 2 months younger than me What the fuck?
What's a good point to start reading the comics? Does it suffer from having to read every other comic from that company or can I get into it on its own?
Tyler Young
start from the beginning and just keep reading
Jacob Edwards
Honestly just start with Hellboy #1. Its a good read pretty much all the way through. After a while they started the seperate comic BPRD which ran alongside Hellboy to show what the other characters in the BPRD were up to when Hellboy wasnt around.
Start at the beginning, Hellboy: Sneed of Destruction
Luke Parker
Don't racemix.
Ayden Watson
either buy Hellboy Library Edition volume 1 and just keep going in order or start with Hellboy The Complete Short Stories, volume 1 is the literal start point but the short stories are better written and don't need any real continuity beyond knowing who Hellboy is so they're a good intro.
Christian Cruz
I didn't even know Jovovich was in this movie. Well, she looks cute. Wouldn't mind if she stepped on me while making me call her Mommy.
Oh, I assumed it had several runs with separate continuities.
John Johnson
Not a chance in Hell.
Noah Nguyen
I knew it was fucked when a Netflix actor played hellboy.
Daniel Butler
Nah, smaller series like this tand to avoid the big two faggotry where shit is constantly being rebooted or retconned.
Wyatt Robinson
I thought he would be good.
I'm sad that the movie is bad. I was warming up to it.
Ethan Martinez
>Holy shit are we seeing a LEGENDARY AF bad movie here?
I bet they didn't think the tag line would come to bite them in the ass like this.
Jacob Parker
Nope. For all Golden Army’s flaws, GDT had some great stuff in his version, and I was ready to see his Hellboy 3. This one’s looked like shit from day one.
>Oh, I assumed it had several runs with separate continuities.
Nope. One single run. the only other continuities are when they did silly crossover books like when Hellboy ended up in the Goon, and even that could be explained as Hellboy doing some weird dimension hopping shit with demons/super science.
This. Misery and death I can take, but when any random fan could have written a less lazy finale, yeah, fuck that shit.
Jaxon Long
A fine Irish lass
Cooper Bennett
You should definitely get around to reading Goon
Don't read it for those pages though, they're an outlier
Hudson Nguyen
Her vagina must be magical!
Hudson Richardson
I've never read it either but Eric Powell was at my lcs today and I bought a couple books and he doodled in them. Shit was cash.
Landon Sanders
Was never gonna happen, the make-up for Abe is too expensive.
Luke Ross
Doug Jones is unironically a very kind and patient man and he will do a lot, but I'm not sure he would get involved with this shit.
Julian Reed
The only problem with the Fantastic Four movie is the reshoots of the third act where they tried to turn it into a more traditional capeshit movie, and it's really forced shift in tone and direction. It was essentially an elseworld type body horror-eque take on the FF, but of course comic fans sperged and just complained about Doom's appearance and Michael B. Jordan being Johnny Storm.
Zachary Rivera
Dark Horse gave up on company wild continuity early. All those books are long dead.
Hellboy has had a few one shots and guest appearances, but nothing that's effected Hellboy internally.
The first arc does have a guest appearance from copywriter John Byrne's torch of Liberty. But that's very small and never mentioned again.
Just start with Seed of Destruction and read straight through until the end of Conquerer Worm. Tie ins to other Hellboy books start there. But that's like 30 issues in.
At that point you'll want a dash of help knowing how to branch out maybe. I do suggest it all. They've done a fantastic job of having characters of all types covering the last century and a half all contribute to an overall narrative.
Jason Smith
>leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film.
It started back up again last month, so do with that what you will
Easton Price
That was kind of Byrne's fault. He leaned to heavily on the noir vibe.
Not really, it had shown up before that. The films did make Mignola realize he missed out on showing it more.
Nathaniel Russell
What a fucking shame. Me and my bro were gonna see this on the weekend. He was super hyped for it but I was way more skeptical (especially since a reboot was completely unnecessary) but still hopeful. Probably gonna pass on it now. Wish we just got a Golden Army sequel
Evan Robinson
It's real. The one good page in this shitty finale.
Brody Ward
Yeah so zero percent of Abe's story can make any sense cool.
Oh fuck off yes Devil You Know needed another arc or two to flesh out and wrap a few things up, but it's not shitty.
It's big problems are having to deal with Arcudi's bloated normsl agent cast that never had anything to do.
Gabriel Sanders
This, its ending is as of now nonexistent
There's a finale to the initial long running plot but it is not the finale
Aaron Ward
>Blame Arcudi I fucking wish that we got Arcudi to write this. At least he gave a shit.
>it's not shitty Dead Abe would disagree.
Hunter Turner
>Somewhere out there right now Guillermo del Toro is crying to himself saying "sometimes dead is better".
These reviews are brutal.
Cooper Flores
how much you want to bet Abe isn't dead in the next issue
Jose Garcia
Like this was going to end happily. Where have you been?
And get mad at Arcudi for deciding he would quit after Hell on Earth before it even started.
Isaac Gray

>This is the sneering form of the word frequently lobbed at Transformers movies Or Marvel?
Jose Ramirez
The movie was pretty bad before then though. And that’s all it really is, a cute idea that doesn’t really work because who the fuck wants to see a Cronenberg esque Fantastic Four movie? It’s one thing to make a oneshot or a miniseries developing the concept, but having a movie to do that while trying to tie it to some shitty Fox universe doesn’t work, and most people wanna see the original group done right before they can accept a “what if” scenario that changes the tone of the characters and makes them darker than what they’re known for
Jacob Clark
I wish Guy Davis hadn't been fucked over so he could have finished the series ;^(
Jaxon Parker
did they use that meme smiley in the actual book?
member when they took the piss out of new 52?
Jayden Butler
He didn't get fucked over. Del Toro hired him to do Pacific Rim money and he's been making Hollywood concept art money since then.
Where do you people get this shit?
Landon Walker
I'm just gonna try to forget the Mignolaverse ever happened for at least a year and a half, and then maybe check in to see how it's doing.
>who the fuck wants to see a Cronenberg esque Fantastic Four movie?
I did. It was interesting, and everything up to Reed escaping was good, then it becomes a wreck.
Levi Roberts
I like how they left the dumb girl at home because reasons but still had to have a dumb reason to give her powers.
Austin Foster
He hated the Del Toro films, he won't say it privately but he hated them and hated that Del Toro barely involved him. My source : other comicbook writer friends of his.
Fuck it, just let Del Toro do Hellboy 3 and we'll forget this.
Kayden Wilson
That’s just, like, your opinion man. I’m just saying the first half didn’t have any of the potential of the pitched idea, regardless of if you thought the idea was solid enough for a full movie or not. But for me and at least a good number of people I can do without a body horror Fantastic Four movie, because outside of comics the idea would just get botched up anyways by a big studio. And Cronenberg is overrated as hell
Cameron Ward
You know a movie has failed when the best thing about it is Milla Jovovich.
Jose Reed
>that pic Fuck you user, I didn't need those feels.
Samuel Campbell
No. For reasons unrelated to the reviews but they certainly don't make me reconsider.
Evan Cook
>leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film
I just saw hellboy and what the critics are saying is so full of shit. It's a fucking ride full of gore that makes onions boys shit themselves, go fucking watch it and stop being critic cucks
Juan Butler
Mwuwahahahahahahahaha!
Lucas Phillips
>because outside of comics the idea would just get botched up anyways by a big studio.
Yeah but they also botch straight capeshit. I'd rather see an interesting failure than a shitty, cliche ridden failure of a normal capeshit movie
Robert Howard
I'm sorry
Lincoln Robinson
Why do people even listen to this moron?
Mason Campbell
Never have I felt laughter, fear and cringe all at once from reading a movie review.
>This is the sneering form of the word frequently lobbed at Transformers movies, the kind that prioritizes guitar riffs, sarcastic one-liners, and blustering tumbleweeds of CGI creatures wrestling each other.
I guess it's ok when Marvel does it.
Aiden Evans
>who the fuck wants to see a Fantastic Four movie? ftfy Seriously, nobody cares for fantastic 4 outside of a few comics fans. The horror thing at least had something for the moviegoers.
Grayson Miller
Honestly, I'm watching the 2nd season and what it lost with Bryan Fuller's esthetic gone, it made up with a better pace. The show isn't great but it's more watchable now than before. 1st season mixed contemplative and empty.
Nathan Jones
>hellboy doesn't show any emotion whatsoever >Are the comics this shitty when it comes to characterization? I don't follow. Should a character always be affected by the death of his parents? If he/she doesn't, it's bad characterization?
Jayden Kelly
He didn't like the GDT movies, but i think he doesn't actually like this one either, but he can't badmouth it publicly because of some agreement, remember he also promoted the GTD films a lot when they came out, this movie didn't look loyal to the books ever since the first trailer so i don't buy that his involvment in the movie wasn't meddled by the studio or the director's vision, remember that mike has never been too outspoken about getting his dues until after everything is said and done
Maybe he doesn't give a shit about the movies as long as he can make his comics?
Jace Nelson
>who the fuck wants to see a Fantastic Four movie?
Disney made a cartoon about a family of four Superheroes with FF-esque powers and made 1.3 billion dollars off of it last year.
>Seriously, nobody cares for fantastic 4 outside of a few comics fans.
And those four animated characters were OC, "the comic book fans" are largely irrelevant to the play of big superhero genre films. Disney can absolutely sell a superhero family gong on SCIENCE! and interdimensional adventures.
His film was months overdue and it had no ending when FOX finally stepped in
Sebastian Williams
Meh, i already know this is a trainwreck but i don't trust certain reviews like this that say they "know" the original, because there's no way this is like the comics, i'll judge it myself just like with that suspiria remake
Michael Martin
>watch an interview from a few months ago where he said he only came on to stop them from completely ruining the character >now he's saying that the film is the way he's always envisioned the character
Nathaniel Anderson
>to leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film.
Just realized if Harbour walked off set he must've been in full makeup. So basically a big red demon stormed off set lol
James Bailey
He was on thin ice with Disney because of his drug fueled behavior and then he straight up just didn't show up to the huge Star Wars convention where he was supposed to announce his movie to the fans. They shitcanned him instantly.
The crazy thing his Trank is currently editing his next major Hollywood movie with Tom hardy playing Al Capone. He somehow survived this without getting blacklisted.
You sure it ain’t the nostalgia fags? We were hoping for a incredibles sequel for nearly a decade. When I was a kid I barely knew who the Fan4stic was. Incredibles felt more unique but I don’t know how to describe its uniqueness maybe its a Megamind thing where it felt like an outsider cape movie.
Landon Walker
Potential nominee of the next year’s golden raspberry.

>Stephen King had a direct hand in all his worst afaptations.
I fucking love Maximum Overdrive.
Connor Howard
>leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film.
And I'm sure that had nothing at all do to with Mignola.
Benjamin Adams
I would dig an Al Capone movie, but who in their right mind thought the guy to play Capone was Tom Hardy?
Grayson Wood
Arcudi and Davis have made veiled statements about how the working relationship broke down hard on social media. And they got screwed out of creator rights for BRPD characters too.
Dylan Walker
Hardy is a mad man, remember his choice to play Eddie Bwock as a special needs kid? This is what he looks like as Capone. He said he modeled the voice after Bugs Bunny. It's from the director of F4antastic. El-P is doing the soundtrack. It will be glorious.
Don't forget that the Director was essentially held hostage and silenced while his employees faced weird intimidation tactics by the company like constant changing of door security cards and cameras watching their every move.
Tyler Sanchez
>constant changing of door security cards and cameras watching their every move
People only like this because they were like 5 watching the original RE movies so Milla was probably the first nude womanfemale they ever saw in a movia, so they remember that fondly
But dear god she looks like an anorexic 10 year old, how someone could be excited at potentially watching her naked in the hellboy film is absolutely beyond me
Gavin Rogers
>he'd had an offer for Sony for a Venom movie (which he rejected because he was only interested in doing it if he had contractual assurance that Avi Arad wouldn't be involved based

Ayden Rodriguez
Then you should be dragged outside and beaten in a sack.
Jordan Foster
I honestly think this movie still sounds like a lot of shlocky, hokey fun. Will be seeing it tonight to make my own opinion. Might still suck but i want to give it a chance.
Jace Ortiz
even worse than that youtube.com/watch?v=ZU7zDQIs49I youtube.com/watch?v=pJawlLSkj7E #1 security cameras everywhere specifically to monitor employees. #2 sent to do manual labor in other depts if you fall out of favor. #3 liking negative posts by former employees on social media can get you in trouble. #4 no internet access, all emails are sent on a private monitored network. #5 lunch breaks are monitored, if they take too long it is announced to everyone at the company. #6 filed complaints against companies hiring their old employees. #7 threatened former employees with lawsuits if they gave interviews to any press about anything. #8 Would not let any former employees mark them down as prior experience. #9 when Kojima tried to get health insurance for his new company's employees they where blackballed by Konami's connection
Isaiah Brown
Who says they're going to quit 80 issues early?
And he still works on Lobster Johnson books. People act like he had a huge fight with Mignola and they'll never talk again, but he's still working on the books.
Julian Gray
She was excellent in Dummy. Go see her play against type in it.
Just stop, I know you're looking for a conspiracy to make yourself feel better but there is none. Mignola threw GDT under the bus and Neil Marshall and his writer are hacks.
Brody Butler
>Disney made a cartoon about a family of four Superheroes with FF-esque powers and made 1.3 billion dollars off of it last year. And didn't call them fantastic 4. As for the "FF-esque", none of The Incredibles characters are equivalent to the FF. There's no science guy, brazen brother or anything. Being a family of superhoeroes doesn't mean being FF-esque.
Daniel Cooper
Mountains of Madness fucking when Del Taco?
Nathan King
When it's available for download.
Kevin Collins
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Jack Nelson
It isn't surprising though. Jonovich does a lot of campy action movies, this is her forte. The other actors are probably a bit out of sorts.
Michael Hughes
Barafags should be shot
Adrian Price
The comics were too good. There had to be some kind of karmic balance.
Oliver Thomas
>Traditional tracking has positioned interest similar to films like last year's Tomb Raider. ...There was a Tomb Raider movie last year?
James Smith
He tried. He had James Cameron AND Tom Cruise on board and the studio still wouldn't give him an R rating so he scrapped it. It's called integrity and believing in the value of quality which is something nu-Hellboy creative teams should learn about.
Robert Campbell
Exactly.
Ryan Morgan
T - Seething Fujoshit
James Hill
Pretend?
Jose Ward
It's up to 13%! Watch out, Endgame! Top critics is at 5 though, and it still has a 3.5 score
Evan Moore
He should hurry because James Wan is also clearly trying to do it was well.
Aaron Mitchell
I liked what Wan does as a director, but I don't think he'll be right for a straight Lovecraft adaptation. He's much more of a visual spectacle kinda guy and HPL movies would work better for someone with more restraint. I think he should stick to superhero films, he's just perfect for that. The way he rescued such a mediocre screenplay for Aquaman really showed it. He would've been the guy to make a great Hellboy movie.
Grayson Foster
Is Charlotte Kirk some sort of intelligence asset or something? Or is she just a struggling actress that is irresistible to a lot of dudes? It feels like it would be easier to get multiple lead roles or that she would've at least yielded better results unless being a cinematic triple threat wasn't the real goal.
Jeremiah Lewis
>leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film. >arguably the worst actor in the film, acts the best
Bara is the worst "aesthetic" I've ever seen. Neck yourself.
Dominic Roberts
I don't understand all the hate for Milla. She's always the best thing in her movies, in a Gary Busey kinda way. The worse the movie is, the better she is by default.
Jaxon Rogers
only if sneaking it from other showings was still possible. i will ask the teather people to just put the ticket on another movie. possibly shazam.
Ryan Reyes
They should if they loved their parents, it's not a minor thing to lose the man that raised you
Daniel Davis
Hey, at least we are getting a Colour out of Space with fucking Nicholas Cage out of all people, at the very least he will give us a genuine derranged acting
Logan Reed
Not everyone is a souless automaton like you
Jack Hughes
hey, the man doesn't want to work anymore. he's tired of his creation, i can respect him tryin to burn everything to the ground and i support his future carreer as a cashier.
Isaac Roberts
no, its uncensored in the book.
Adrian Stewart
gotti.
Austin Powell
Crashing this film with no survivors!
Hudson Evans
thats why also the comics had to end like shit.
you gotta do the bombastic middle point and just putter out.
Aaron Johnson
Take a trip to /y/. You'll love it there.
Aiden Parker
Can someone link some quotes where mig is dissing gdt? Hellboy 1 is one of my favorite movies of all time. Mignola and GDT do a commentary track for it and they sound really simpatico the entire time. Haven't followed the ramp up to this one at all but it bums me out knowing things fell apart
Jordan Collins
Oh yeah, 'cause that's what I wanna see whenever I think of Hellboy. Gore for shock value's sake.
Ethan Richardson
>Can someone link some quotes where mig is dissing gdt? There isn't any.
Hunter Green
>Being a family of superhoeroes doesn't mean being FF-esque. It absolutely does, seeing that the Fantastic Four pioneered both that and the concept of a team of superheroes being proactive rather than reactive, thus why they're known more as explorers than crimefighters. That last bit is what all the movies about them so far have completely missed the mark on and why they don't reflect the spirit of the characters that well.
More to the point the Incredibles literally have all of the Fantastic Four's powers except for Johnny's which are switched for super-speed; you can't tell me Bird didn't know what he was doing when he gave violet invisibility and force fields >no brazen brother Sure about that?
William Cox
>leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film. jesus,it must be that bad and horrendous
He's been sending subliminals pretty much the whole press tour. A lot of "finally a movie that UNDERSTANDS Hellboy" and "a more faithful movie" etc. etc.
Regardless, the facts are that GDT and Mignola met and instantly became close friends. They then collaborated on tons of each other's projects, they then made the two HB movies together and were both heavily involved. GDT wanted to make a third but the studio was holding out on the budget so he played the waiting game. Mignola then made the choice to reboot without him. Now they no longer speak.
Elijah Brown
Since you're posting the same shit around in several threads, let me do the same: >Larger Tue to Wed fall than normal Over the past 6 weeks: Dumbo -49% Captain Marvel -41% Dragon -45% Madea -50% Alita -44% Shazam's drop would be 46%. Right in the middle. That twitter account is hilariously pro-Disney. They always try to spin the numbers in a negative way, unless they're Marvel/Disney which even the most middling numbers are seen as amazing. If I don't remember wrong, that account was claiming CM would do about 450 domestic until recently, even though the numbers don't really support that at all.
Nolan Ortiz
What the fuck
Nolan Sanchez
>leaving Jovovich to give the most committed, and therefore the best, performance in the film. Oh lord in heaven we are so fucked.
I never care about movies, but your post was all it took for me to go from not knowing about this to definitely seeing it. That all sounds like a perfect storm.
Jeremiah Long
>pic related Huh. When the fuck Sapkowski became a meme? Those are weird times we live in.
Jonathan Jones
>Mignola then made the choice to reboot without him. Now they no longer speak.
Do you have actual source for either of these two claims? Or is it just more shit some of you like to make up?
James Perez
Petty fans like to think the creative people are just a shitty as them.
Isaac Reed
Twats who pretend to like whiskey are exactly the kind of people who I would expect to like Hellboy
Samuel Cook
How about you take a trip to hell?
Jonathan Miller
Bingo bango bongo OH NONONONO
David Russell
Whiskey and coke just tastes like coke
Levi Cruz
The way I read it, they met up at the end of 2016 to see if HB3 could happen and decided it couldn’t on Del Toro’s schedule.
Jayden Perez
Whiskey and coke fan here. The trick is using half whiskey to half coke.
Luis Bailey
>not using the superior cream soda and jameson Fucking pleb.
Jason Gray
>a Hellboy film without Guillermo Del Toro and Ron Perlman is critically panned I’m totally not surprised at all. It’s basically Pacific Rim 2 all over again.
Ian Torres
I assume that's your Twitter account?
Benjamin Foster
What’s funny is I remember when the first GDT movie came out, Taco made it clear that Mignola gave his blessing and was active in helping advise the world building of both movies.
Now that this new one’s coming out Mike suddenly hates the GDT movies, and now “fans” are crawling out from under rocks to shit on them.
HB1 was a great movie. It was a different spin on the comics, but it was great for what it set out to accomplish. I wasn’t a fan of 2, but there were some good moments and a good villain.
Josiah James
>it's taken 25 years, give me a minute Del Taco will always have my appreciation.
Mason Martin
Sounds they did that for a reason, just see how far Kojima has advanced with Death Stranding
Oliver Baker
He didnt shill the original films this fucking hard thats for damn sure.
Giving it his seal of approval? Fuck off Mike.
Julian Lopez
Is this one of those movies where it fits my political agenda so the reviews don't matter or is it against my political beliefs so the reviews are law
Do you consider The Incredibles as explorers? >pioneered With kind of thinking, every non-powered superhero is a Batman rippoff.
Carter Butler
But bro didn't you see that commercial where Hellboy is rated R because of violence and swearing? They didn't say anything about the movie itself but Hellboy says FUCK and that makes me want to see it.
Ayden Ross
>Now that this new one’s coming out Mike suddenly hates the GDT movies, and now “fans” are crawling out from under rocks to shit on them
All this show is that Yea Forums is making all kinds of gossips and bulshit because of boredon, withhout a single source.
Justin Long
>so bad that Jovovich is the best acting person in the movie Now this I gotta see
>Mignola threw GDT under the bus He didn't, both are friends and it has been common knowledge that the studio didn't let Del Toro make the third movie. Mignola has nothing to do with that.
You niggas make all kinds of claims without any single source.
Adam Cooper
>50/50 is a damn good ratio You can always spot the adults in these threads.
Parker Jenkins
Poor woman. Her nipples seemed to have run away.
Ryan Allen
the first movies introduced me to the comic, so im a little biased, but i actually like the second movie more. it feels more like a mournful fairytale like the comicbook does.
the first movie goes through the motions of rasputin and all that, but i feel like the second is spiritually closer.
Jack Parker
i agree, not really sure what monkey paw she wished from to become an actress that made everything she's in dogshit.
Easton Watson
Ron Perlman said in his WTF interview that Del Toro and Mignola are no longer friends over this
Jackson Fisher
.....So does that mean if Del Toro makes Hellboy 3 it'll be DMC V levels of kino?
To be honest, Mignola offered Del Toro to direct a new movie once it got obvious thgat the third wouldn't happen, and Del Toro didn't wanted.
Do you have a link for that interview with Perlman?
Jayden Diaz
I wanna Lobster Johnson movie.
Evan Martin
This is such an obtuse post I can only figure you're deliberately misconstruing what I said. The part about the FF being explorers is a general criticism of the movies and not related to the Incredibles. >every non-powered superhero is a Batman rippoff. It's more like Batman is a ripoff of any number of older pulp heroes like The Shadow or Zorro. But yes, a lot of non-powered superheroes are Batman ripoffs
James Carter
nah man critics are being haters and have agendas this is a great film
Lmao. We need to start a Go Fund Me for Shazam. Yikes
The fact that Hellboy has an actual chance of beating Shazam should terrify DC
Cameron Anderson
What the shit
Asher Cooper
Well there goes my interest
Michael Rogers
So where's the summary?
Easton Gutierrez
What the fuck?
Caleb Jackson
being del taco is suffering.
Adam Myers
Tell him to go to Legendary. They'll literally greenlight anything
Juan Foster
>Marshall left the Hellboy production, which had begun shooting in the U.K. but was moving to Bulgaria, to spend time with her. Leaving the project at that point was highly unusual and Marshall barely returned in time to resume the shoot
So was the entire movie just on hold while the director went off to get his dick wet with an actress the studio didn't want or did they just have second unit people directing the movie for him?
Alexander Howard
The radio commercials for it are pretty terrible. I mean I get that superhero movies are popular, but they flat out call him one in a "this ain't your normal superhero flick" kinda marketing. It's very bad.
Josiah Wilson
Looks like the post credit spoilers haven't been posted yet:
>First: Hellboy is crying over Broom's grave, Lobster Johnson's ghost (we met him alive in the flashback to HB"s origin) pops out and tells him he needs to get his shit together because HB won the battle but the war is coming. HB freaks out like a fanboy.
>Second: During the film HB makes a deal with Baba Yaga to exchange his eye for information, he leaves before she can collect. In the scene Baba Yaga is telling someone with an Eastern European accent that she'll let him "finally die" in exchange for HB's eye. He's not shown but it's obviously Koshchei.
