Is it just me or does capeshit increasingly suffer from ‘Pokémon syndrome’, where the entire world revolves around that one thing and nobody has normal hobbies? Was it always like this?
I’m a self admitted casual and I’d love any recommendation that proves me wrong, non capeshit stories taking place in that kind of universe sounds fun.
Well most have normal hobbies. I mean even on the superhero oversaturated worlds of Marvel and DC, the listed amount of superheroes would still be 1/1000000 at least by numbers of normal 7billion humans. Not to mention many are set on Earth so tons are shown with normal worldy hobbies like videogames or tv or music. So the world doesn't begin and end with capes.

No? I haven’t even seen it yet? I’m talking about funnybooks on the funnybook board.
I’m talking about shit like how apparently teenaged girls in 616 are writing fanfic about real people and that’s seen as relatively equivalent to irl teenaged girls writing fanfic about capeshit characters. Everything revolves around one subject and it’s never questioned.
Imagine if people sold George Bush plushies in time square.
Brody Cooper
What was it?
Christopher Mitchell
You mean if you lived in a world where all animals, including everybody's cat could shoot lasers, you wouldn't be obsessed with them?
Jace Myers
>non capeshit stories taking place in that kind of universe sounds fun. So instead of reading about how the few superhumans of the world band together to stop the literal apocalypse, you'd rather read about young Emmett Stampson as he copes with the fact that his high school sweetheart Missy Peters has gotten over him and is now happily married to his bully Roger Franklin?
Oliver Gray
I mean they absolutely DO sell George Bush plushies. Hell I bet you could find president bobbleheads still in stock on some website out there. As for fanfiction in general there's that out there too. Even published like pic related.
Now as to if the act is more common? Hard to say. It could be that even in story universe the amount of fanfiction writers is very niche and the story is simply focusing on one of the few girls that does it.
The narrative of space people, cosmic entities, and super powerful beings in color outfit designs? Sure, it's weird; but weird isn't bad. It's a fictional story in a fantasy setting made for entertainment.
Jonathan Fisher
If people were flying around and this was an important part of American politics, you’d better believe people would never shut up about it. It would probably have its own twitter trending tab.
Isaac Torres
That's new to me, where did you find that "special" literature? Why could someone write a fanfic about a real person?
Charles Reyes
Let's take a minute to think about our real world and some of the culture icons and their merch today.
Political figures? Plenty of stuff based on them. From parody shows/books to silly merchandise like plates with their faces or porn videos (Who's Nailin Palin). Athletes? Plenty really big names are famous. Even ones that get popular through other mediums like that strongman who played The Mountain on GameOfThrones. People with wild personalities like Pro Wrestling icons or Pop music singers? They've got things from toys to tons of fanfiction. I bet I could find Jonas Brothers lemon incest fanfiction in double digits.
Parker Wood
>That's new to me, where did you find that "special" literature? Why could someone write a fanfic about a real person? If it’s any comfort to you, normie-ish fanfic writers can’t stand rpf. The bad news however, is that it’s common enough to have an acronym.
Wattpad is hell on earth already, imagine what it must look like in a capeshit universe.
Josiah Watson
If superheroes were real they'd be the celbrities of our world, you'd have shitty tabloid mags at the supermarket with articles reading "SUPERHEROES: they're just like us!". They would warp the entertainment landscape around them, because right now we admire people for being rich, pretty, and famous, how would we act when they're rich, pretty, AND essentially gods?
Robert Myers
>Why could someone write a fanfic about a real person?
You're surprised at this? It's been happening since the 90's. Maybe even before that.
David Cook
Did you know in real life there was Whose Line is it Anyway fanfiction?
Aaron Bailey
Dante wrote fanfiction about people he hated burning in hell while he became buds with Cicero and his waifu guided him to paradise.
Joshua Rivera
When you put it that way it's even more hilarious.
Ryan Evans
Remember Channel Awesome fanfiction?
Wyatt Gomez
>be kamala khan >write fanfiction about people you’ve never met screwing and having weird interpersonal drama >maybe you’re working in prose writing too, it’s all for fun >actually end up meeting most of these people How far can she theoretically fling her spaghetti from this height?
Jayden Collins
>Pokémon Syndrome What is this?
Joshua Russell
If you play Pokemon (which I don't recommend; only autistic men and immature women enjoy it) the NPCs are obsessed with Pocket Monsters and all their dialogue relates to it "Pokemon Syndrome" isn't something anybody says but I figure it alludes to that
Jose Morales
Something op made up.
Angel Mitchell
a couple of dead deers twisted I thought it was just their cut off heads but nope, the whole bodies, I was posting here but I didn't understand what it had to do with the deers
Blake Campbell
They were kudu. I posted the wrong picture.
Lincoln Martin
wattpad isn't for fanfics, it is even worse, those aren't stories really
Robert Johnson
>phoneposter uploads antelope gore to a blue board. Nice.
Sebastian James
To be fair, it's like you go talk to someone while walking a dog and he's also an enthusiastic dog owner, I guess?
A dog owner who... actually sends it to pit fights...
Adrian Sanders
>a universe where normalfag co-workers never shut up about supervillian redemption shit instead of Islamic terror Neutral move tbf.
