Can someone explain to me that The Source Wall actually is?
Can someone explain to me that The Source Wall actually is?
I guess the force that created the universe is so high energy that it's destructive, the source wall holds that force back.
A McGuffin created by Jim Starlin.
Otherwise every author decides for themselves what the fuck it really is and what it does.
It's an absolute. That said, it's in a superhero comic so it has no doubt been stripped of its absolute-ness multiple times.
>jim starlin
?
Yeah it first appeared in the X Men crossover where Darkseid wanted to sleep with the Phoenix Force or something like that
So, it's a literal wall that stretches upwards and downwards for infinity. And on the other side of the wall is...something?
its either edge of the dc universe or the edge of the dc mulitverse
Alternatively the outer end that surrounds and holds the entire universe together, the wall that surrounds the source of creation, a prison for ancient and terrible evil beings, the wall of the reservoir of emotional energy, etc.
It supposedly separates the normal universe from the Bleed, the medium all universes are suspended in. If it's breached, disaster could happen.
That's why, when at the end of 'Metal' the Source Wall was destroyed, the Bleed flowed in and -
Oh, wait, that didn't happen.
I am confused. This looks like the Source Wall but those are clearly Doctor Doom and Galactus.
This is just some cute joke, right?
is the source wall in scott snyders Justice league?
No, that's from 'JLA/ AVENGERS'.
Where's Galactus?
Under Doom's left arm.
I thought the bottom left looked a bit like him, but I confused part of the wall for his "hat"
But I am getting some High Evolutionary vibes from the guy two to the right of Doom
Can't see him. Circle him?
It's a major plot point. They try to fix it in the Annual.
The only purple one in the whole image, my dude. Come on.
It was likely just meant to be a little in-joke
is it in the volume 1 tpb? im thinking about getting it.
Not that guy, and in fact I'm the guy who originally thought he saw Galactus, but there are atleast three dudes in that image that can be described as purple.
Which was written by Chris Claremont and drawn (and maybe co-written?) by Walt Simonson.
>its either edge of the dc universe or the edge of the dc mulitverse
This. It's the wall that separates the DC multiverse from the space between multiverses which is filled with the raw creation energy of all realities. If you could theoretically breach the source wall you might be able to get to the Marvel multiverse and beyond that to our 'real' multiverse. Although we're at a point 'above' both the DC and Marvel universe's but also 'further away' from the primal sources which is why we can influence/see their multiverses but don't have superpowers. Yet.
Don't worry, Superboy Prime is working on it
an example of terrible and idiotic comic book writing?
The barrier between the Godsphere, where New Genesis and Apocalipse are (along with places like Tartarus, the Underworld, etc), and the Monitor Sphere, a higher form of existence where the infinite multiverse is seen as what it is, stories. A powerful enough being in the Monitor Sphere can perceive the comic reader, ie you.
>A powerful enough being in the Monitor Sphere can perceive the comic reader
Animal Man could when he was on peyote.
Psycho-Pirate didn't even need drugs to see past us and realize we are not real, either.
I thought it was the barrier between the fictional universe and our own universe where the stories are written. Didn’t Deadpool cross it and murder the writer?
