Are there any popular or semi-popular online reviewers who review western animated series and who are not Linkara or the Nostalgia Critic?

Pic unrelated, it's Linkara.

yeah but a lot of them suck
as much shit rebeltaxi gets i still enjoy his non-podcat videos. robobuddies is good too but she doesnt upload anymore

Rebeltaxi is fine when he isn’t making an ass out of himself.

DWK

Is Nostalgia Critic still around? Wasn't his channel hit with some huge controversy?

Also SFDebris. He reviews DCAU, Gargoyles, anime, Star Trek Animated Series, Tramsformers and shitton of other stuff. Guy's really thorough and legit.

I'll be honest, I'm looking for a reviewer who's popular, first and foremost, and I don't much care whether they are good or not.

I'm doing it for purely pragmatic reasons. I want to figure out if there is anybody I could commission or donate to on patreon so that they review an obscure and forgotten animated series that I'm a fan of.

>SFDebris
Chuck’s a cool dude.

>Is Nostalgia Critic still around? Wasn't his channel hit with some huge controversy?
He's till around. channel awesome got me too'd but it was on it's way out anyway.

SFDebris does that. And he's known for reviewing some rather obscure shit if you ask him nicely on his patreon.

yeah, but his main focus is sci fi live action.
Would be weird to suddenly have him review an obscure cartoon.

Saberspark

He reviewed some really bizarre shit throughout the years. Like Watership Down. His excuse for it was "one of the rabbits is a psychic, psychics are an SF staple and fuck you, somebody asked me nicely to review it so why not".

Rebeltaxi sounds like a shady porn website.

Pan Pizza is the zoomer equivalent of Nostalgia Critic and somehow ended up even more degenerate.

Have you looked into Saberspark maybe?

The movie or the animated series?

have, but I'm not sure if he's the best choice, since he lately he's been covering mostly really shitty knockoffs

The animated movie.

>Rebelhub

>huge controversy
3 women complained about other people on his site being mean or sexist. He didn't give it any attention and it went away after like two weeks.

>3 women complained
about half of their contributors quit, and it was revealed that one guy sexually abused a minor and then killed himself

Not the same user but it didn’t really affect NC at all. It just made all the contributers part ways, thats it. NC still runs his channel like nothing has happened.

Does this dude have downsyndrome? His face has that round downie sort of look to it.

I've heard that ALL of them quit. Mostly due to the pedophile incident. So now Walker just goes solo.

And it didn't hurt him or the channel at all. It was pointless, no one aside from a few twitter warriors cared, some people got attention again, and then he made new episodes.

Technically not all of them? I mean, his skit crew is still around, and they now have their own shows, also Cinema Snob popped up in a few videos, so I guess he's also still an associate, even if not a core member of the channel.

Huh, I haven't seen Nostalgia Critic in a while. He lost me after his revamp, with all those stupid skits and shit like that.
Now I just watch their out-of-character reviews. They seem alright and rather fair.

I've recently watched his X-2 since I was curious. He didn't half anything during the review. Was that an exception?

>nostalgia critic thread
Stays up till bumb limit
>rebel taxi threa
Pruned immediately

How embarrassing that the Nostalgia Critic is official Yea Forums to the moderators but rebel taxi isn't. Must suck to be Pan

I liked his spergy old icon

Let's say someone wanted to get into doing this... what would they have to do to be better than these guys?

Already have:
>Don't overexaggerate or yell
>Don't sound autistic
>Don't just do clickbait/modern shows
>No 'mean spirited'
>No skits
>No annoying guest reviewers
>Regular upload schedule

Anything else? Asking for a friend, haha

What is the series?

His anime shit is completely dreadful though. I know he says he's not really an anime guy but I don't get the impression he's trying to be very open minded at all. His second Gundam movie review basically had him launch into a huge tired how a soldier saying "hai" can be translated about a billion different ways. You have to really just be willing to roll with a lot of language shit like that because the best subtitles can ever really do is provide context.

He can also be prone to throwing a real hissy fit if people call out some mistakes. There was some Beast Wars review where he got all pissed off when people pointed out he called Whit Tigers now leopards, and instead of just letting it go made a huge fuss about how white tigers don't really exist in the wild so he should be counted as right even when they where clearly tigers.

>>Don't overexaggerate or yell
but that's the whole point of it.

Pan does pretty well for himself avoiding that.

I wish there were people telling people about a good thing than a bad thing.

I think more people click on bad thing, but I agree.

Be thorough and do your homework. Everybody can put a dumb video on youtube. But there aren't that many good reviewers that are willing to really get into the subject matter.
I'm thinking something like SFDebris or Lindsday Ellis. I don't like the latter cause she's one step from becoming a raging SJW, but she's really doing her research. Most of the time. Same with SFD. Also, I appreciate that SFDebris is completely apolitical. So when he is ripping Star Trek Discovery apart for instance, you know it's not because of any agendas, but because this particular episode is shit.

Fuck those people. Don't do things that are popular, do things that you like.
I wish I could be a comic review guy, but my voice makes Linkara sound like Morgan Freeman

SFDebris also did a series on comic books in the 90's that was pretty interesting.

Apolitical is a big one, yep. I'll check out GFD, never heard of him. I'd like to think that i'll be well informed, my biggest problem is trying to condense information to make it palatable, I can probably make a 45 minute video on just about any cartoon if I don't keep the tism in check.

What kind of structure would your video have?

S-sorry, Lewis... I just hugged someone without your permission!

In development. I'm still not sure how to balance entertainment with information as I tend to be more on the information side. I want to avoid the classic review formula (explain the plot in sequential order/rate on visuals, plot, characters and "enjoyment") but I also want to avoid the really conceptual or silly videos that are more about personal experience and making jokes without concrete thoughts. Somewhere between that I suppose. I'd like to have a no spoiler recommendation review series but a deep dive for specific shows or groups of cartoons (French/Disney/Ren and Stimpy clones etc).

Writing the first right now on how anime and cartoon communities are super separated and appealing to both to maybe see the value in eachother on a technical/artistic level, maybe bridge a gap. It's to set the stage for the channel which will cover animation from all over the world, not just Japan or America.

Unrated but I never got why Linkara constantly complains about current day Marvel and DC but doesn't bother to read more indie stuff

ComicTropes is pretty good

Yeah, he flat out admits that he is not into anime which can piss off some anime fans, yet he doesn't pretend to be an expert. He still does quite a thorough research about the anime in question. And it's kinda amusing to see the "outside view" and watch him getting completely flabbergasted by some anime tropes. I loved his Evangelion reviews for that matter, despite a lot of anime fans being pissed at him for "misrepresenting what Evangelion is".

This guy seems cool but why is most of it off youtube?

>Linkara didn't know about Asterix series until it was requested as a review. That was really disappointing.

So it doesn't get pulled out, copyrighted or demonetized.

That blows.

What I want to know who, of all things, asked him to watch Kanazuki No Miko. Because that's not even something anime "experts" will go into lightly.

I like SFDebris, but I wish that his YouTube channel was organized better (put all of the Star Trek videos in one playlist, put all of the Babylon 5 videos in one playlist, put all of the ATLA videos in one playlist, etc.).

He's one of those comic purists who only likes cape comics

Not all of them. Like said, Cinema Snob is still there (and might also be on the board of directors for CA? I vaguely remember hearing something like that) and Guru Larry, who’s only staying there because no one, not even the Walkers, ever acknowledged he was on it. So now he’s staying until he’s either the very last one or they kick him off.

this cover should have also included [Kicked Out] Spoony and [Dead] Jewario

Ask SFDebris. He did a pretty comprehensive review of MLP because someone donated.

>Unicorn in alley this morning, tyre cutie mark on stomach. Equestria is afraid of me, I've seen its true face. The mare in the moon is coming, and when the night foams up around their waste, all the horses and politicians will shout "save us!". And I'll look down and whisper, neigh!

This review was hilarious. He actually really enjoyed the show. And then gave a comprehensive background on the history of MLP toyline.

don't you hijack my thread, witchfag

I love Saberspark.

Been a fan since 2016

rebeltaxi is okay only in his main show, but the jokes grate on you
robo was ultimately better before the steven universe rant. after, she feels like she's trying to be a female nolan from ppp

3 former employees complained about nothing
one was fired for ignoring her bosses
one exposed that the site was hiding a groomer (herself included)
one was that bitch from the hotdog gif and can't make a good original video to save her aborted child's life

he's a cuck

wasn't that pointless
we now know there was a pedo among their ranks all along and they tried covering it up
it's also widely known how much of a cunt the three chicks who tried doing this are now

>even if not a core member of the channel
if you mean the website, there's three people including him

>Now I just watch their out-of-character reviews. They seem alright and rather fair.
you may be autistic, user

i'm pretty sure the two faggots on his podcast are posting those most of the time

Phelous, but its almost entirely DTV movies and its only one every two weeks.

here's a few
>keep it short and sweet (don't just give a cliffs-notes of whatever you're talking about and call it a review)
>don't make reference after reference
>tell actual jokes and try to make them funny
>learn to edit
>don't just do the same thing that either dozens of "reviewers" have covered or the big guys have done
>learn to speak into a mic and have good audio
>you don't have to be on camera, but if you do don't just wear a retarded costume
>try making it more editorials than reviews

the dude's just stupid in general
he went on this huge sperg fit about some guy not being able to swim in the navy during pearl harbor (they didn't require the ability to swim back then)

The only decent show reviewer that I know is Max Power but he's only focused on Simpsons and Futurama, also he's a spanish speaker.

>nchick, marzgurl, joe and lewis aren't fat enough
>filmbrain and phelous have too much of their hair
>ever showing clownface
2/5

sorry, thought you were talking about doug

If i had to do so much i would review anime, people who review cartoons do this because it's easy, they just need to say "oh it's a cartoon" and be unfunny trying to be funny

WD is not exactly bizzare, everything about it makes sense

Man, whose side is Cinema Snob fucking on? He hangs out with Phelan and Lupa, but he also appears with Doug?

There's also Guru Larry. Who is sticking around he finds the idea of that him of all people being the last person on channel awesome is hilarious.

Video essays maybe?

He's reviewed a lot of cartoons as well, even some older ones like ExoSquad.

I guess he's on his own side.

>hated Captain Fungus
>loved Chadzam
Based Doug

Attached: doog.jpg (836x1440, 314K)

apparently Lupa stopped wanting to fuck hang out with him after CTC didn't ruin douge and he didn't leave the site
of course, she didn't do anything to stop the people constantly tweeting at him, his friends, his mom, the people calling his family, etc

I agree with a lot, thanks for the thoughts, it'll be considered.

Probably something like this.

If you're that guy who keeps posting here, then you probably know more about this series than any reviewer would. You could make your own review videos.

Nobody watches angry critic shit these days. James Rolfe still does well for himself simply because he was smart enough to build a viewerbase around himself rather than just the one show, people nowadays would rather watch video essays than some yelling faggot.

Oh damn all five people who care about this inane drama now know something fucking NOBODY cares about!!!! Fuck off Lupa. Before I kiss your ass. Cunt.

>it didn't hurt him
He can barely make 600k views on new NC videos.
