This is the ideal MCU villain. You may not like it, but this is what peak character motivation looks like.

Guy Pearce is always a pleasure (he's still loved here in Australia) but that blatant China-pandering thing with the Mandarin was cringeworthy.
It was me all along, Tony! I AM THE MANDINGO.
I liked (didn't love) this movie, but I really hated how they portrayed extremis, especially considering that the concept art for it was actually pretty rad.
The way they tried to vaguely justify the Mandarin name with the tattoos that had nothing to do with his character was silly.
They should have just had the Mandarin be 100% red herring/decoy and his theme be unrelated.
Iron Man 2 and 3 really made Tony's tech seem to fragile and toy like. Glad it doesn't have that problem in the crossover stuff.
They should have just made him the fucking Mandarin. He was badass enough, that it was extremely cool seeing him shred tony's armors with his bare hands.
>They should have just made him the fucking Mandarin.
That's what happened in the movie though. And it sucked.
He's literally the Incredibles villain. I usually don't like these kind of meme-sounding arguments, but it's actually true this time.
I mean a real portrayal of the mandarin, they should have commuted to conveying the character properly with Killian.
you can start by making extremis some mystical shit instead of science and there ya go, you're halfway there.

Syndrome became a villain directly because Mr. Incredible shunned him and wanted to become a fake super hero specifically to spite him. Killian's primary goal was always getting extremis off the ground and killing Stark would've just been an extra bonus. Stark only changed Killian's methodology, not his plans since at the time Killian initially thought it would be his last chance to get past his disabilities. Syndrome was just a whiny kid who never grew up.
Friendly reminder that the female scientist was supposed to be the true main villain, like in the Extremis series, but Ike didn't approve it because it didn't sell action figures.
>Extremis, son
>Live action Syndrome
So deep.
This felt like Shane Black film. My problen is that he looks bad. The movies goes out of it's way to not make him look cool or threatening. Marvel has a habit of making their villains look bad. They always look bland without any interesting desing or color.
Don't mind me, just posting the best IM villain not including Tony himself.
Confirmation that all Krillinposters are illiterate.
>but I really hated how they portrayed extremis
This, the extremis arc is when I finally got into Iron Man, before that he was never really much of an interest to me, and didn't care much about him outside of Avenger stuff.
The Mandarin shit was bad, but seeing extremis just get turned into a discount molten man serum just pissed me off.
He’s shit and ruined the Mandarin.
Nah. Movie sucked the first time around because there was literally no way to inoculate yourself from disappointment from the difference in Mandarin portrayals but it gets better upon reviewing and it doesn't stop there, each viewing improves the experience. But it totally magoatally sucks the first time.
I loved this movie.
It is unironically my favourite Iron Man movie and based on what I've read on the internet I'm either retarded or I don't appreciate my capeshit the same way others do.
Forgettable character in a mediocre movie yup this is the status quo for mcu villains not the peak. Bland look, barely any lines. How do you babies eat this up? Talking about a 5/10 children’s movie years later like it mattered
I didn't give a shit about the Mandarin or Ben Kingsley during my first watching. The Osama Bin Laden shtick was interesting but would've ultimately made for a lame villain since Stark could've easily take him out with a single missile to the head.
I love drunk Ben Kingsley and hammy Guy Pearce but they were the only good bits in this otherwise underwhelming and dull movie. Okay the terminator chick sequence was good too, but only because of her acting.
This, the movie might not be the best, but at least he had charisma.
it's the best one by far because you love movies rather than capeshit
That's because it's Sam Rockwell, who is severely underrated.
How is Rockwell underrated?!
No idea what he meant, this was his weak role though because it was badly written
As an actor, not in this role.
Jeez.
Yea that's what we meant
He is a beloved actor and always an MVP
Honestly I agree with you. I’ve always loved it, I like the acting and the characters, the suit jumping finale is so much fun to watch. I’ll be retarded with you.
