When all the episodes are out, I would still encourage you to pick it back up. Rewatching it binge style makes alot of the stupid stuff they did bearable. It was the same issue I had with SU where the pacing was destroyed by pointless episodes that actually hurt to watch was mostly solved upon rewatch because you can just get it over with and then there is a somewhat redeeming episode to follow it up.
I've watched this show up to current episode three times now, and feel that I can appreciate it for what it is.

In Friendenimes they bonded and established a friendship that is there throughout season 3, there are plenty of episodes such as divide, monster bash, and the search for buff frog where Marco respected Tom as stars boyfriend and didn’t say one bad thing about him since. It might happen more today for the reason you stated, but its not as if older cartoons didn't have weak episodes too. Think of '03 Teen Titans or AtLA which aired before streaming was normal, where there were several weak to downright bad episodes alongside decent episodes. At the end of the day it still comes down to the show creators to keep a handle on their production to avoid it, and the good ones do for the most part.
One flaw I think contributes much more, especially with these more story driven series is that the series was not written beforehand, and is all too often improvised from episode to episode, leading to inconsistencies and pacing issues. Not really aware of what goes into the process of a pitch, but if they had plans for a story, they should've had it written before starting. If they had a roadmap where they have x endgoal in mind, I bet they could pace things a lot easier as the characters progress toward the season finale. Maybe cartoons could adapt properties that are already written instead of leaving everything to these boarders and episode writers.

I constantly repeat this. But the show has been like this since the first season. And further seasons didn't change this fact one bit. Not one single bit.

The fact that this show has ALWAYS been the same somewhat janky quality. The jokes are completely flat or nonexistent or unfunny at times. The lore is there, but some things are just really really dumb or anticlimactic. The pacing is terrible (this comes up in the fandom ALL the time). A lot of characters are very obviously just fillers. Star sounds more like an actual autist rather than a princess. The animation isn't always the best but generally acceptable. The sound design is alright but the sugar-high-hyper-princess type thing can become a little tiresome after a while.

And yet despite all of these factors, me and a lot of others still follow the show. Even if they say that they hate the shipping and the relationship drama they are all fucking liars. They keep saying they hate it, and yet they still come back every single week.

That's because this is the part that we actually like, and the part that Nefcy can actually write at least interestingly enough to keep us around. Star and Marco being adorable together is enough for me to go on. If the show would be literally nothing but Star and Marco hanging out and cuddling and being diabetes-inducingly sweet, without any other substance, I'd still watch it.

Nefcy knew that she can't really write other parts of the show that well. That's why she dropped the ball so hard in S2. She needed something to take a grip deep into the hearts of every viewer at that time. Enough to go on for 4 seasons. And so she did.

I still have all of my memories of starco cuteness. I still have my memories about meowrails from HS. That is enough for me to keep holding on.

I have no issue at all with episodes about other characters, but nowadays even "Star episodes" aren't really about Star. Star Vs. is a weird cartoon in that in that I don't know what the people behind it wanted it to be?
The first inclination is that Marco is the main character.
That the show is like Chalkzone, but instead of Rudy as the main character, it is Snap.
The funnyman is the main character instead of the straightman in the double-act of the show.
Like if Gravity falls was more about Mable than Dipper, that is how I feel about Star Vs.
The feeling is that if you wanted a female protagonist you should have just made Star the normal earth girl and have her life invaded by some zany otherworldly guy.

It starts out as a fish out of water story and a big part of me does feel like they should have just stuck with that.
Everything after season 2 feels less like a bold fresh new dynamic and more like a derailment of the show proper.
The conflict of the show becomes a lot less "The forces of evil" and instead Star's:

I think most of us agree that Nefcy's original vision was that Star wasn't supposed to be an ideal protagonist. Originally pitched as Star AND the Forces of Evil, the first two seasons do a very good job at showing that Star has multiple flaws, to the point where almost everything wrong in the show (her family troubles, her relationship troubles, her personal development) is entirely her fault. It's what was running the show, that Star needs to find a solution to a mistake she caused.

What hyped everyone up at the end of S2 and even during the BfM was that there were clear parallels towards Star's future. She could become like her mother, giving in to royal responsibilities and abandoning her own interests, or she could continue down the path that she was on, a path that was considered "dark" since by all appearances Eclipsa, the Queen of Darkness, was an individual who abandoned all responsibilities for her own self-interest. There were more parallels made between Star and Eclipsa, and the audience was expecting a "Fallen Star" arc that would've finally made "vs. the Forces" become "and the Forces".

That didn't happen, obviously. Monster racism was thrown into the mix, haphazardly and blatantly, unlike the subtleties we'd seen in things like Mewnipendence Day. Not only that, Eclipsa was shown to be the one in the right, which invalidated everyone's expectations about what Star was supposedly going to become. Starfari posited a new, interesting end-goal, with Jelly Goodwell's statement that "mixing Mewmans and monsters is disastrous," and the later revelation that Heinous is half-Mewman / half-monster. With Heinous / Meteora the end-boss of the series, fans were once again set up to believe that Star would have to choose between equality -- giving Meteora what's rightfully hers -- or responsibility, and put the needs of people like her and who support her over ideals and speeches. Of course, Divide / Conquer ruined that expectation.

Yeah, that was kind of messed up. This object of immense plot driving power is a baby rattle. It's really not clear who the antagonist is at this point. We're in a malaise in terms of direction. Considering this is the final season we should know quite clearly who the "big bad" is going to be but it's really ambiguous.

Mina is clearly the big bad of the first part, but I'm not sure she'll survive Cornonation!

Then there's the Corrupted Realm's plot still open.

It's so bizarre how the final season, one that they've known for a couple years now would be the final season, is actually LESS focused than season 1 which was back when the show barely had a plot.

Just like with Kellco, if this is going to happen it should've had actual groundwork laid for it before the final season. But if Marco can completely out of the blue be attracted to Kelly in "Kelly's World" then I guess the same can happen with Tom to Janna in "Junkin Janna".

It's not like those remaining episodes are guaranteed Eclipsa-free. She will likely take over them just as she has done the rest of the show.

Also Eclipsa getting screen time wasn't the major issue. I've done this so many times in so many threads by now that at the moment I really don't want to put the effort in, but the primary problem is that I feel she is portrayed almost as a Mary Sue, with the actual flaws she has and that are supposed to be the major factor in her real being unsuccessful often brushed aside. I feel like she's only written to be fun/likable/relatable and that those things that could potentially make her less "lovable" are only touched on, even though having more prominent flaws would make her feel more real and legitimately likable.

And I have also said over and over again that compared to Eclipsa there is nothing wrong with Star (s a character, not as a person), but that she keeps being pushed aside in favor of Eclipsa or other characters receiving more focus since S3. The problem is the writers not using her, or, when they do, only using her in shipping plots which show little of her actual personality anyway (what did Star ACTUALLY do in Curse of the Blood Moon? Not much)

Lava Lake Beach, the episode that completely revolved around Marco realizing that he's in love with Star. Yeah, that's a foundation for Kellco alright. The idea that Marco would be attracted to Kelly came completely out of nowhere.

Seriously, Mewni worked as a place to visit, and using Earth as a jumping-off point highlighted the weirdness. But Mewni wasn't interesting enough to be a permanent setting, and the bare-bones worldbuilding that's happened in S3-4 wasn't sufficient to change that.

Just to show why Toffee is such an ultra dick to Mewni's and that Meteora is probably the most powerful being in the show even as a baby.

1) It reinforces Toffee's belief that magic is evil;
2) It gives Toffee knowledge of the ability to absorb people's souls;
3) It establishes Toffee's awareness of Glossaryck;
4) It shows that Meteora is ridiculously powerful and is running entirely on green ("evil") magic.

I wish, but it will all be forgotten with the next batch of episodes

Then the focus isn't on stupid bloodline wank that took over the show and fandom for a year even though the plot finally proved that meaningless, Star giving Eclipsa the crown maybe feels more noble (it's entirely because she and Meteora got screwed over, not OH ECLIPSA-SAMA, YOUR BLOOD IS MORE PURE THAN MINE), Shastacan and Eclipsa having had some sort of relationship makes him less pathetic/sympathetic and on Eclipsa's part makes it look like she doesn't just get everything she wants, and, most importantly in my eyes, it gives Eclipsa more of that moral ambiguity the show wants her to have but can't pull off, through having her abandon her family and one daughter for her individual happiness.

Then Mewmans started leaving or being kicked from their formerly monster owned residence (mostly the former) and eventually stumbled upon Moon's place much to her annoyance. Now they just sort of migrated to her place as they are basically screwed on their own and made their own little community

Now Moon is kind of overseeing things while mostly trying to get them to manage themselves for fucking once by giving them basic guidelines and teaching them some shit.

I would say that this is one of those cases where the limitation is actually good, S1 and most of S2 the mouse was watching the creator ass and the show was consistent most of the time, now for sure she gained much more freedom with S3 and shit the bed.

Apparently she got at least one pair of horns while on a date with Tom, though she picked them out herself rather than him giving them to her (and she has a few pairs going by the fact they're in different colors). But in flashbacks and photos Star has been shown to have horns at various stages of her life, before she even met/dated Tom I guess if you want to try to put those two details together you can say she wore horns off and on when she was younger, and then made them a more permanent part of her attire while dating Tom and just never looked back even after the breakup because she likes them. But more likely the crew just didn't remember that Star's been shown with horns before and ended up believing the old fanon theories of Tom giving them to her.
