It will obviously resolve itself by her working the coffee shop along with the other 12 employees it somehow is able to sustain.

He might actually be able to do it if Claire dumps Martunk and it makes him look like a sufficiently feeble chump, eg "Mertyn doesn't have his life together enough by a tranny's standards".
