>[as] without Family Guy
Are we about to enter a golden age?

No because Mike Lazzlo is just going to order more crap like Loiter Squad

no family guy seasons 1-15 and bobs season 1-8 are still gonna be on as

Read your article and you’ll see Adult Swim holds on to pre-season 16 FG
At the same time that’s what happens when they build up and depend on a show they don’t own. They made their bed but have yet to lay in it yet

Should go back to being nighttime Toonami every night.

You ask me Toonami starts too late

You read the article and you'll see they only have the rights to Family Guy until the fall of 2021.

Isn't this old news? I remember someone posting about Freeform having postS16 FG a while ago. Somebody in the same thread explained the whole perpetual 700 Club timeslot too.

What the hell is freefoam?

>Loiter Squad
>crap
Better than shit like Mr. Pickles.

It used to be ABC Family, then they rebranded as a #fandom-teen network while at the same time not changing any of their programming, essentially only changing the channel id bumpers.

What was ABC Family

Well fuck I was reading the bottom portion that didn’t mention 2021, sorry for being a brainlet
Either way, either they are investing in new programming or the block is going away. That’s why you don’t put your eggs in shows you don’t own

Nobody watches anime on TV anymore. It's beyond antiquated. If people don't tune in on Saturday what makes you think they will on Wednesday? Toonami troglodytes have the collective brainpower of a grape

>airing a fuckton more Rick and Morty and going bankrupt in a year
weird golden age

How about just weekly anime then? It doesn't have to be Toonami

I can't you stupid marvel FAGGOTs wanted this shit to happen

i like loiter squad and mr. pickles.
it's the new current shit that sucks though.

They're able to get away with airing one episode a week cheaply because it's just once a week.

When they started airing DBZ Kai/Super nightly funimation started demanding more money.

Why didn't FX try to get the rights to Bojack Horseman last year?

this.
honestly what's the poingt of watching toonami in 2019 anyway? sure! i''m glad it came back but it's just so lacking nowadays and yet they still air the stupid shit that killed it in the first place.

Maybe this will lead to them making more stuff like Machu Pichu? Or doing joke anime dubbing in house in the same style as Ghost Stories?

Just pumping out cheap to make content to fill the void.

Attached: 1554376840572.jpg (1600x900, 328K)

What are they even airing right now and what killed them the last time?

imo just get rid of the adult swim branding. call it cn after dark

2001-2021

RIP

>Toonami troglodytes have the collective brainpower of a grape

Was that good?

Branding means everything
They’d only do that if they were doing boomer and Full House reruns

Naruto.

>What are they even airing right now
DBSuper, MHA, Promised Neverland, SAO, JoJo, Black Clover, Bort, Naruto, HxH, AoT.

>what killed them the last time?
Snyder and to much Naruto.

That's why they made a 70 episode order for Rick and Morty

Ghost Stories esque joke dubs would be great

yikes

Can we get more Eric Andre show too? I'm being serious about that one.

I hadn't seen the whole thing, but it sure was something to behold for what I did see, a 6-hour piss take on every "toyetic" anime that CN had tried to acquire.

>2021
POETRY

Attached: Sealab cupcake time.jpg (259x194, 13K)

It was great for that 6-hour prank, but I don't think I'd ever re-watch it.

>Can we get more Eric Andre show too?
Everyone's in on the joke now though.

Hey! Grape tase goud!

Welp time for the American Dad take over on adult swim

I thought those were the Off Network rights.

How long does Ted and his company have regarding these licenses again?

Adult Swim will lose Family Guy in late 2021, as mentioned by the article. Another source was giving 2023 as when they'll lose Bob's Burgers.

Their current contract for American Dad probably states that they'll have it until X number of years after TBS stops airing new seasons. Currently they still have two more seasons ordered, which they might split in half like they did with the most recent season (meaning they'd have new episodes until 2023). Unless Disney blocks them from continuing to renew it, expect TBS and Adult Swim to keep American Dad alive as long as possible now.

underrated

I doubt they'd bring back weekday anime though I miss that shit. I expect tons of reruns of old shows.

In all honesty it's pretty much the only place I end up being exposed to new anime now since I no longer actively seek out new anime to watch.

Plus I like seeing everyone's reactions in real time to the same episodes I'm watching.

>Can we get more Eric Andre show too? I'm being serious about that one.
He said he can't do it anymore because people are wise to it. We MIGHT be able to get one more season, but that's it.

i only watch dubbed anime when it airs on tv...

>Naruto killed Toonami
Naruto was the only thing keeping Toonami alive after they finished Dragon Ball GT, nothing else they tried airing during the final three years really stuck. The second user was right though that Snyder was partly to blame, along with the programming department and a really shitty rebrand.

When Toonami died they had I think two episodes of Naruto and it was the filler between OG and Shippuden

>Harvey Birdman but with anime

Make it happen.

good post

>An episode where Broly has to deal with sexual harassment charges

Good riddance

To be honest family, I'd rather see Eric in another show like pic related. His character was perfect foil for Jay Baruchel's character.

i wish adult swim would buy adam reed back and finish frisky dingo.

archer is so shit, i havent seen the last two dream seasons. but i did like the archer vice so go figure.

make KORGOTH into a series.

do more comedian shows. NEW ONES YOU fUCKS. like dr katz EXCEPT NEW. wait this may backfire, the comedians of today are fucking trash. you have to get some old standbys or maybe a few of the smarter ones.

steven wright
john mulaney / nick kroll
doug stanhope
lewis black

do some more british comedy? although thats all fucked up too.
charlie brooker?
richard ayoade / darkplace guy
dylan moran

get titmouse back on making a lot of cartoons. we need a new cartoon from the superjail guys (and ballmasterz needs to be funnier)

like drinky crow show, turn some more comics / webcomics into animated shows. seriously, the boondocks was fuckin amazing.

i'd watch a gone with the blastwave toon. doesnt require that much animation.

buy the rights to air the big lez show.

to recap, adult swim needs:
a lot of pilots
comedians doing shows
web/paper comics turned into cartoons
british/canadian/australian comedy gold

what adultswim does not need:

end mr pickles please. its just so fucking bad

tim and eric / eric andre nonsense

live action shows with bad production values and or the shows they try to cobble together with some cardboard a camera and a livestream.

as for toonami? not sure it can be saved. anime is trash now. find some satirical anime , or do funny dubs on shitty animes like ghost stories / shin chan.

adult swim , to survive, needs to save cartoon network too. cartoon network has been in a downwards spiral its almost gone.

cn/as needs to do an animated band cartoon. like daft punk or gorillaz or something.

Is it really nabbing if its just staying within fox?

Better churn out more Rick and Morty along with giving Ballmasterz and Tigtone another season.

agreed
although I would like to see MDE back on the channel again, never ever though

ugh. i had some hopes for tigtone but i couldnt even make it through the trailer.

yelling is not comedy.

You think MDE World Peace would've had a better chance had it not aired during the political time that was going on when it was announced?

>getting rid of the show that brings in the most money

God you should never run a network

looks like more hours of Robot Chicken!

Have you not listened to or watched Comedy Bang! Bang!

Will they finally greenlight a show made by a woman?

>That damn OP, always so nervous...

Not necessarily.

I know that [as] is going to air the second season of final space so they might end up taking the cartoons that were going to air on tbs and moving them to adult swim.

And [as] is making their own original content. We know that Genndy is making a cartoon for AS and I think ballmasterz is getting a second season.

Will they bring back Aqua Teen?

Probably not.

FUND MORE JOE PERA YOU COWARDS

Why does FX or Freeform Channel even want Family Guy? Has animation declined so much that people aren't willing to make another long running animated sitcom?

nearly every attempt has been a colossal failure

Adult Swim was dead to me as soon as they dropped King of the Hill.

>made contract citing a 70 episode count
>when Harmon and Justin couldn’t finish 13 episodes and ended s3 with 10
They wrote their death warrant

>Family Guy gets cancelled
>[adult swim] grabs the rights and airs reruns
>it gains a following a Fox brings it back
>now this
No respect for them saving his show.

For me it was mission hill

The last Toonami line-up was reruns of Ben 10: AF, Bakugan, and DBZ along with a new Naruto.

And before that it was fox family

By this point I think adult swim just needs to focus on streaming services because who the fuck honestly watches cable in 2019?

It's over cable, you lost to internets girthy cock.

>dubbed
>with THAT shitshow going on
I used to be more lenient, but that fucking mess has convinced me that dubbers deserve no money whatsoever. Watch/Play in the original language always.

Because CC purchased it and FX's parent company had a 30% stake in Hulu(Now thanks to the Disney/Fox merger it's now at 60%), a Netflix competitor.

This is just a guess, but seeing that Disney purchased 21st Century Fox to be able to go against Netflix and that Hulu, a streaming company that both Disney, 21st(when it was it's own company before the merger), Comcast and Warner Media(Formerly Time Warner) have stakes in, Netflix didn't want to give syndication rights to the "enemy".

Last Toonami line-up was
Naruto x2
Ben 10:AF
Samurai Jack reruns

AS has beeing pretty good lately this year but none of the new shows have found much success besides rick and morty. Pulling away the biggest viewer grabs is gonna make the block even more irrelevant.

I wouldn't be surprised if kids get through anime through toonami but maybe i'm just projecting how my childhood was because how many young people even watch tv nowadays?

AT&T is probably hoping to save money on not purchasing the rights to FG and Bob's Burgers. The problem is that you're right that they haven't had a lot of successes in their original content division.

Every attempt has been a failure because they try to copy Family Guy or the Simpsons instead of doing their own thing

I mean if the shows that bring you the most money are reruns, there’s a problem somewhere

The problem is the viewers honestly. Most of AS's new shows are actually pretty good but most people don't care unfortunately. I think the people who used to watch for AS for funny original adult shows just forgot about it and most of the people who actually watch AS on TV now are dudebro NPCs who just watch reruns of FG and Bob

It was good.
Not great, but good and worth watching once.

Episode 3 and the ending were the best parts.

Rick and Morty played every night

There are a LOT of shows that have never been dubed or even officially subs and lost to time.

I'm sure [AS] could get a few.

>and lost to time.
This really only applies to pre-90 shit. There might not be official subs but nearly every god damn anime out there since has a sub whether official or not unless it's super super niche.

I'd love a ghost stories type dub but it'd probably have to be with an undubbed show that came out in the last 10 years, anything older would be unlikely because it looks old, if that makes sense
