Dobson actually does have a point. Star Wars has one of the most toxic and whiny fanbases. Put out a bad MCU movie and people will criticize it and forget about it. Put out a bad Star Wars movie and people will be making hour long videos detailing the problems, controversies come from all sides, people boycotting and protesting.

That being said the prequels were pretty shit and Force Awakens was just copying the original trilogy but with worse characters. Never bothered watching TLJ.

No, they have the moral quandary of wanting to make a powerful villain like Darth, but not wanting to make them cool to where some people would identify with what is ostensibly a space nazi.
It would have been easy to make Darth Vader 2.0 and they should have, it would have been as easy as never making him take off the mask.
Make him an actual imposing figure that is much stronger than Rey at using the force for 2/3 movies.
Sadly they choose to make both the main protagonist and antagonist just nothing characters.
Couldn't make Rey an interesting character because that would require giving her hardships and that would be seen as sexist instead of "empowering" like a Mary Sue.
