As far as creative differences go, I can understand that one. It's a fundamental difference in opinion: is Spidey about telling a story as true to life as possible, or is it supposed to focus on the most dramatic story that can be told? Ditko's "just a guy" idea for Goblin would be neat, but making him Norman was a lot more dramatic. Ultimately Spidey would get a bit of both approaches as time went on.
