You could blame missed lines, typoes and lack of general quality on rush and lack of sleep.
Yeah, there's something off with the subtitles. They don't read or flow very naturally. Plus they have periods after each line which is also unusual, at least in my experience.

Couldn't even find or come up with a proper name for the Puuhisia (the weird bush kids).
For better quality, just wait for the official English release, if they even decide to do English subs. Seen some negative opinions on the dub from the trailers. I thought they sounded fine.

The source of that scan was me. I didn't find the story anywhere, so I scanned it myself. I've looked into it a couple of times, but haven't seen scans of entire Moomin comics anywhere online at any point.
Anyone got a mega for the 90s series in Jpn when eng subs?

I haven't been watching the episodes with user's English subs and I can't comment on them. But past episodes have given me a vibe that this show is made primarily in English and only secondarily in Finnish. There are a couple of moments where the characters say something that sounds somewhat awkward in Finnish, and I can tell it's a wonky translation from a line that would work just fine in English. There are also some moments where the lip movements look very noticeably off with the Finnish audio. And then there's the English songs here and there.
So if you want to see the series as soon as possible: watch the episodes as they get released, even if you've got to deal with some odd translation moments. But if you're someone who wants the authentic experience and prefers hearing the characters in the original language: I think the English version is actually the original language of this series, even if it is a Finnish production. Plus if you ever watch movies or series just to see some popular actors/actresses, the English version is supposed to have a few famous names.

The word "puuhinen" should most likely be translated as "woodie". That's what the English edition of "Moominsummer Madness" called the kids that followed Snufkin around.

I've got one mug which's value is in 100s of euros. I got it back in the 90s though when I was a child.
People who hate Snorkmaiden obviously haven't read the comics. She's hilarious in them, and sympathetic in her ditzyness.
I think that particular story only appeared as a novel, and never got a comic based on it. The 1990s anime featured an adaptation of it, though.
The comics and the novels are kinda different. They sometimes go through the same stories, but their takes can have pretty large differences. Like for example, in the books Moomin first met Snorkmaiden in the story about the comet, but in the comics they had already met long before the comet story.
The tone of the novels is more somber and wistful, whereas the comics were in the daily gag format that made them feel a bit more snide. They also had some moments of black comedy that would probably not fit the novels that well.
It sucks that no one is ripping the japanese dub. The second episode should be airing tomorrow. It's being shown on the NHK premium channels, so I can't even catch a stream of it.
Being scandinavian, moomin merch has been ingrained in me since the day I was born. I remember having a little moomin house with figures of all the characters when I was little. I also bought a few mugs and fridge magnets for myself last time I went shopping for kitchen appliances.

There are actually a handful of English episodes online, but I'm reluctant to share them because the studio has only been making them public due to a mistake and I'm hoping they'll upload episodes of another show they're working on. Have the English episodes aired anywhere or are the four I'm talking about the only ones up?

Moomin Valley English version? It premieres in English on Sky One UK April 19th from 2am to 6am where it marathons episodes 1 to 8. Who the fuck will be watching at the time for a kids show? Very bizarre given Sky UK coproduced the show.
Tove's dislike as far as I can tell was mostly for the 69 series itself.
I don't know if she paid much attention to the 72 followup that she let them do on the requirement it would only be distributed in Japan.

Unless I'm remembering wrong, the anime was the only time he was voiced by a girl to make him sound young, any other adaptation I've seen he's voiced by men.
I would guess around 18 or 17, as this current show has a theme of maturity and attempting at independence in most episodes.
Given Little My is actually older than Snufkin and therefore a grown woman so who knows. I'd guess he is a young teenager? He has a girlfriend and seems pretty smart but at the same time he still plays with toys and has a childlike sense of wonder so..
Fun fact, Takehito Koyasu (who voiced DIO in JJBA) was also the voice of Snufkin in Tanoshii Moomin Ikka (that one 90's anime adaptation of Moomin).
