Several times the series hit on the idea that Mavel was wise for enjoying her childhood and Dipper was foolish for trying to grow up too fast, but how about just once, at the end of the series, Mabel's childishness is the problem and Dipper's relative maturity is the solution?
Just about the last thing that happens is the twins turn 13, after all, and there's a symbolic element in "being a teenager".
Instead Dipper grovels and submits to Mabel and she makes a meaningless gesture that costs her nothing by giving him *permission* to go when he already said he wouldn't!

I watched the whole show in a single week because internet people never stopped of talking about GF and how great it was. When I finished I thought... "it wasn't that good" it was good but it wasn't "the beginning of a new age" as people literally said to me. Bills was an uninteresting disney villain and Gideon... hell... I wanted to skip that episodes really hard but I decided to resist it to evaluate the whole show, between the villains of short stature (a Disney's cliche) this one is probably the worst.

Mabel was a generic girly girl with some funny moments
Dipper was a typical nerd and I disliked him even when he is totally the protagonist of this story.
Wendy was simply bland to me.
First season was episodic stories but funny episodes, second season was very good but the plot ended with the portal.
I thought that the final developed between the twins was very inappropriate and the Weirdmageddon felt like a typical Disney movie.

I fucking hate that people think putting information in a book is somehow a good thing. The main part of the franchise is the fucking television series, that's where the main audience is.
You can't just take information that would help your shitty writing and stuff in it a book as if that makes things better. If it didn't happen in the show, it might as well never happened at all.

Putting additional information that really isn't all that important to the main show is fine and whatever, but things that would help make major plot holes/plot points make more sense isn't better off there.

This show was pretty damn repetitive, despite some decently good mystery episodes in S1 (Headhunters, Irrational Treasure, Legend of the Gobblewonker); unfortunately, once the whole Dipper/Wendy B'S came, it became a chore to watch any of it for me.
It's only thanks to S2 dropping this Dipper/Wendy crap like a fucking hot, dirty rock that it clearly was that I s-3gained any investment in this show. Also, fuck Yea Forums, just about everything from S2 kicked ass. A 3rd season would have been great, but I'm happy it ended well enough.
Just a meh-to-actually alright show people overjoyed with fanart/porn and fan fiction a little too much, really.

At this point in the time people think that SU is complete trash and it's true but for a time it was genuinely good and original between the cartoons (the cast was genuinely different). When I watched GF for first time I considered it inferior to Adventure Time and Steven Universe because the story was in fact very simplistic and the cast was much more common.
