This and Immortal Hulk have been the two things keeping me invested in floppies lately. It's rare to have comics these days where I can't bring myself to just tradewait and instead want to rush to the store to get the newest issues. Was really surprised by how this arc ended though. Didn't expect things to go down like that, at least not this quickly.
Is Gillen keeping this monthly or his he doing what every Image creator does and going on an indefinite hiatus between arcs? I really hope not, because Image's propensity for extremely long hiatuses between each trade's worth of content has killed my interest in a lot of their books over the years. (Fucking Snotgirl has been around for like 4 years and is only 13 issues in?! What the fuck is that all about.)

Bumping for a great story. I was going to storytime this but never got around it due to lack of time, so it's good that someone else stepped in and made people aware of its existence.
Gotta agree with this fella here , both Die, Immortal Hulk AND Green Lantern are pretty much the three things I always look forward to grab every month, and it's keeping comics very interesting. I had no idea there was an actual game coming out of this though I'm not surprised, given Gillen's detailed lore at the back of every issue.

Maybe my brain is just small but the RPG he made sounds kind of lame. It's a game within a game where your characters are broken/depressed middleaged people getting sucked into a fantasy land which seems kind of... lame?
The comic itself is really good though.

I feel it's more like the Neverending Story, if the kid had to go back into the book during his 40's, giving the entire story a whole different spin and outlook and unavoidably taking the punch of the fantastical aspects of it. Add to that the fact that they aren't even there by choice, they've been pulled into it by obligation, so they aren't allowed to enjoy whatever magical aspects of the game may appeal to them.
So no shit they're depressed!

I can see why, he clearly put a lot of thought into the architecture of the whole thing, the reasoning behind the dice they pick and the elaborate character motivations. If he made an actual novel out of this, I'd probably enjoy it much more (although the art is gorgeous).

The book has a somewhat interesting premise, but the only character that is likable to me is the villain/dm/d20 guy because he's the only person actually having fun and enjoying being in this world. Everyone else is lol, ironic too cool to actually enjoy this and eager to return to their mundane lives. This plot is moving at a molasses slow pace so the writer can spew some meta bullshit about fantasy writting.

Kind of? The guy who's trapped in it is having the time of his life, but he still knows there's a world out there. He's just drunk with power while his friends are there to finally add some closure to their own lives and pull him out of it.
The Grandmaster is basically your annoying guy in the D&D campaign who takes it way too seriously and gets pissed off at you after the session is over.

As an avid RPG player who has been DMING for the past three years straight, I get the meta stuff but at the same time deconstruction feels like it's been kind of done before.
One problem I have with the setting is that it's all over the place with no real explanation, WWI stuff to comment on Tolkein stuff but it feels like we have to stop to get an essay first. I hope the next arc we get Solomon's pov because I think talking about world building for a DM would make the points clearer. I'm curious but man I hope it does not go full Wic+div that series got indulgent in the worst way.

The art is kind of hard to look at in this comic. Not sure what it is. Maybe the palette is too saturated? The figures are a little stiff, and Panel to panel everything seems kind of cluttered. Too much focus on the main cast or the design of the more human monsters, not enough on the environment. It’s like the artist isn’t letting me breathe, and I don’t know if it’s on purpose or not.
