Which is great. Naturally one would think making Super Son's material for kids instead of aging them up to shoehorn into current DCU's shitshow would be the best possible move for everyone. But making such radical changes to one of the main characters is only inviting frustration in readers when they learn every other piece of media featuring these characters is wildly different than this one is... assuming this story is good enough to even make them interested in reading more at all.

Yeah, I have to say I didn't like it very much. The story manages to feel awfully hectic, yet it could be told with half as many pages. The whole thing doesn't feel very coherent, neither the worldbuilding, nor the plot direction. The art is servicable, but... kinda bare?

I don't think the art is meant to be compared to Jimenez's Super Sons stuff. It's much more likely this particular book and it's artstyle is meant to court the Marvel/Gurihiru YA audience.

While I'm also willing to see how this series pans out it seems odd to think this story is meant to go anyplace more weird and unexpected than the current Super Sons book already does. What it seems to be doing is allowing the characters to exist in a world separate and apart from the rest of the DCU so that kids without an encyclopedic knowledge of DC lore can have an entry point to Jon and Damian without knowing who Talia Al Ghul, Jonah Hex or Oa and the Green Lantern Corps are.
Also, the entire supporting cast is made up of almost nothing but cute girls so if the book takes off drawfags will be quite busy for some time here...

The dialogue is stilted and awkward, the art is mediocre, The refugee/racism metaphor makes no sense in the presented context. The global warming story goes fucking nowhere, Candace's story goes fucking nowhere. Damian wanting to be called Ian is such a stupid detail yet instead of just calling him Ian they keep bringing it up as though it's a character conflict. The entire "lying/betrayal" conflict comes and goes in like 5 pages for no real reason. There's so much going on here and makes an already boring book seem cluttered and aimless.

Thanks OP, I'm a huge super sons fan but I wish I liked this more. Its nice to see ma boy Jon get some exposure (especially after The Bendising) but he seems like kind of dick here. Him and "Ian" both seem a little off, I feel like if you showed this to kids they wouldn't get whats fun about both of these characters, which makes me sad.
Black girl kinda sucks. I'm not the kind who's against the typical "stronk black woman" inclusion but she doesn't even do anything, so whats the point?
Also the art is shitty. I know not everybody is Jorge Jimenez but even the later Super Sons artist has more charm and life then this stuff.
