...alternatively, the only things that should have been fixed was his crush with Wendy after the Shapeshifter episode and instead of the worst episode of GF ever, give him and Mabel an episode where they mostly deal with what could have happened had they truly followed with their selfish dreams at D&MvTF.

But one of the problems was that Dipper's desire wasn't selfish, it was the equivalent of him wanting to study abroad.

I mean, ok, put yourself in a girls place. This boy asks for your number, and he seems cute. You find out he asked for other girls numbers. That hurts. It hurts the same way if a boy found out a girl he liked asked for other boys numbers.

Boo fucking hoo. Relationships are made from commitment and complementary personalities and healthy give/take attitudes. It's not based on The One True Love Made In Heaven. Putting yourself out there means you risk becoming hurt when someone rejects your advances, or looks for another. To treat a non-committed boy that hurt you in the most surface level possible like he just popped the question while fucking someone else, is the thing that problematic, not Dipper

It was selfish because he was doing pretty much what Ford did, but way younger and way less mature than what Ford was.
Plus, if you honestly think this wouldn't have ended in a bigger family fight than it already was, you definitely did NOT understand the main point of this series besides mysteries.

Dipper bends backwards for Mabel over and over again through the course of the series and when something good happens for him Mabel screams "WHAT ABOUT ME" and we're supposed to think she's in the right?

Ford stood by while his asshole dad tossed his brother out on the street because he was angry about his missed opportunity to get into his dream college.
Dipper wanted to get an early start on his dream career but still wanted to work things out so that he and Mabel could still stay connected.

The only equivalence is that both Stan and Mabel were too reliant on their siblings. Stan was justified because Ford literally turned his back on him in his time of need. In contrast, Mabel threw a tantrum when she realized life was changing.

Several times the series hit on the idea that Mavel was wise for enjoying her childhood and Dipper was foolish for trying to grow up too fast, but how about just once, at the end of the series, Mabel's childishness is the problem and Dipper's relative maturity is the solution?

Just about the last thing that happens is the twins turn 13, after all, and there's a symbolic element in "being a teenager".

Instead Dipper grovels and submits to Mabel and she makes a meaningless gesture that costs her nothing by giving him *permission* to go when he already said he wouldn't.

It really started to fall apart at the last leg.

I love that the VAs for Ford and Stan changed the way they spoke to hint that they were playing a different character. "Ford" sounded gruffer and "Stan" had a smoother tone.
