The Dragon Prince

So the spooky elf in the mirror is the one who gave/taught mankind dark magic in the first place, the whole “Mankind came up with this evil!” Immediately and permanently thrown out the window when people find out. I get that.
But what’s he trying to do? He’s pretty much stuck in his magical prison and it’s been kind of a long while since he’s been in there.
Why not just kill him?

Too pretty to kill

Attached: D3Bt1T9XcAERO3f.jpg (749x1080, 75K)

"#WOKE" SJW pandering garbage nobody with an ounce of intelligence cares about.
This and VLD are objective proof that Netflix should no longer be allowed to make animation.

I suspect he can't die, and it's tied to whatever dark magic is doing to it's users

Well, that didn't take long.

Maybe he's got some TDK Joker-tier plan that made it impossible to kill him without setting off some terrible calamity?

Or maybe he's just too fucking pretty.

Attached: rule34draprinlol.jpg (597x620, 47K)

When was it implied that he was the one who taught mankind how to do dark magic? He uses regular magic when assisting Viren.
Also, what makes you think the elves or magical creatures could kill him? Maybe that's exactly the reason why he was imprisoned.

You're not going to complain about She-Ra too?

If anything you should be whinging about Sabrina.

Like ATLA, the show has a knack for answering stuff later. Things you think are plotholes are merely there to keep kids guessing. My guess would be that he put himself in the mirror and the dragon king couldn't do anything, except keep watch, once he was inside.

But I love these answers.

It was found out, when somebody translated a book that Viren reads. Before his capture. We're not actually supposed to know yet.

>Yea Forums constantly begs for anime-esque action shows
>the instant it gets one it bitches and moans about everything
It's almost as if nobody here actually likes cartoons

There's valid criticisms to make. They just get drowned out by all the cunts who think every fantasy cartoon ever is only good if it's set in a "realistic" Tolikenesque medieval England setting and get assblasted when somebody's black or gay because there's no way an entire continent of human refugees would stop giving a shit about racial divisions or buttfucking after a thousand years of being crammed into half of the continent with a very specific enemy to rally against.

I really don't understand why they went through all that trouble to actually put in Aaravos' lore/backstory hidden in Dutch and Arabic languages when this is a TV format where you're not suppose to pause and look for clues and do your research in order to find out cool bits about the show or get rewards.

This would genuinely have fit well in a mixture of a cartoon show with an interactive adventure game, but with prizes and shit.
Like imagine pausing at every book sequence and picking up your translators and your scribbler decoder to figure out what it says in the book. Untapped potential once again.

>Why not just kill him?
Ape shall not kill ape.
It'd be one thing if he was a stinky human, but taking the life of a fellow elf... it's simply unacceptable!

It's just a fun easter egg for all the shit we know is coming. Don't look a .gif horse in the mouth.

...for fun?

It's a Netflix show. They totally expect people to pause the video to find easter eggs. Putting actual text shows more care and attention to detail than just filling the pages with lorem ipsum and calling it a day.
I highly doubt this is all we are getting on Aaravos' backstory, it will be explained properly in the future. But being a Netflix series, they have to leave some hidden hints so people have something to speculate about during the long pauses between releases.

>Shit-Ra
Almost forgot about that SJW shitshow.

>It's almost as if nobody here actually likes cartoons
Yea Forums doesn't like video games. Yea Forums doesn't like anime. Yea Forums doesn't like music. That's how Yea Forums works.
/m/ and /tg/ are weird little anomalies.

The fantasy genre was doing just without having to cater to blacks or gays, demographics that have never cared for fantasy either way.

You should see /ck/. Not even sure what that place is about now. Half the time it's talking about their favorite fast food places and pepe/wojack talking about being embarrassed in a grocery store, other times it's an extension of /pol/ or Yea Forums with porn or trolling irrelevant to /ck/ for an OP.

Attached: CK Cooks.jpg (870x870, 66K)

I get that, but nowadays it feels as if people on Yea Forums not only hate shit but also want to force people who like shit to hate it too

>nowadays
Welcome friend.

Attached: Stop Liking.jpg (400x350, 43K)

This is the heart of reactionism. Being a contrarian until the other side gives up and you get to declare yourself the winner. It's pure tribalism with ignorance as a weapon and that works great on a website with anonymity. Because no one will ever see your cultivated identity and the stuff you like.

here's a ( ) on me

>This would genuinely have fit well in a mixture of a cartoon show with an interactive adventure game

Netflix has done that before. Puss in Boots, Buddy Thunderstruck, Stretch Armstrong, etc. I'm actually annoyed the last one saved its easter eggs for the proper show.

I am black and I like fantasy so fuck you. Fuck gays though. To be honest dragon prince isn't that good. Black King makes shitty decisions and when his friend actually comes up with plans to bail his dumbass friend out he gets shit on for it. Veeran is the best character in the show and is right about pretty much everything. Harrow's wife is arguably the worst character.

Is this what you complain about? Not the
>black king in a European setting
>the white queen
>black king has to raise his wife's son
>white man is evil
>humans bad/tree hugging elves is good
>lesbian queens with a daughter

Pros:
>Good sense of humor
>Big laugher
>Nice body
>Inteligent
>Smells like peanut butter

Cons:

>Warped ethics
>fucked up dad
>Brother is a jackass
>thinks girl farts are funny

>Sacrifices fuzzy aminals for dark magic

>Warped ethics

He isn't that bad.
>Brother is a jackass
So?
>thinks girl farts are funny
Only point I agree on

>Are elf ears sensitive?

Surprisingly, not really...

...but their horns are. Scraping your fingernail against them will drive an elf crazy.

If Claudia in canon smells like peanut butter what does Rayla smell like?

Moon Berries?

What do moon berries smell like?

Why do I want a cereal called moon berry crunch?

Attached: v4am9r2kxfq21.png (540x675, 301K)

you're the one spamming threads every day off season. Did you think you wouldnt get an obligate troll?
dumb ass faggot.

Rayla smells like b.o. and elf haggis.

/tg/ is becoming bitter enough to hate traditional games these days, its mostly hating the influx of normalfags though.
>nowadays it feels as if people on Yea Forums not only hate shit but also want to force people who like shit to hate it too
Getting normalfags out of your hobby has always been a sacred pastime.

That kinda works for me.

Attached: 24soafp0ogl21.jpg (736x919, 95K)

Getting normalfags out of your hobby is stupid, petty, and autistic, and there's literally no good reason to do it. I actively go out of my way to get people who don't read comics or watch cartoons into them

Aaravos is based, only plebs disagree

This.
It's canon that Rayla hates bathing and water.

Attached: she doesn't like bathing.png (400x400, 179K)

Humanity did nothing wrong. Dark Magic isn't evil. The elves can eat a dick.

She has to bathe. I have to believe that a bad ass elven assassin doesn't walk around wreaking of shit. She just doesn't like big bodies of water.

If all it takes is a butterfly to do magic seems like a good deal.

>She just doesn't like big bodies of water.

Yeah, because that bathtub looks totally gigantic.

It's the middle ages. 95% of the world's population smelled like ass. If anything, smelling nice would make you conspicuous.

Stop making excuses for your fetishes and go back to /d/.

Rayla is filthy and has constant yeast infections.

Being afraid of water doesnt mean you don't bathe and a tub full of water is huge to a little kid.

If she doesn't bathe how come her pits are shaven?

Her smooth delicious elven pits...

Elf waifu smells like jolly ranchers and having four fingers makes your dick look huge in her hand. And fuck anyone who says otherwise.

Attached: 1554258318994.png (2070x1080, 1.42M)

This

Runaan has smooth pits too. I think elves just don't have body hair.

Attached: TheDragonPrince-1088x680.png (1088x680, 1.02M)

If that is the case maybe they don't stink like humans do.

They have ready access to magic and are different species from humans.

At one point rayla makes fun of callum for having a "sub century lifespan". maybe they don't secrete sebum or have thick layers of dead dermus like humans do. we are just walk feasts for bacteria. maybe they have low body temperature making them less prone to disease like opossums. Rayla isn't wearing much and never seems to get cold.

Attached: d628txg9cjq21.jpg (960x674, 105K)

>Cons:
>Brother is a jackass
Hardly a con. It's more like
>She'll cut out your kidney and leave you in a bathtub full of ice with an apology note pinned to your chest - if her brother needs a new kidney.

Attached: 1553981634553.png (1080x1080, 603K)

Fuck you. Soren is a national treasure.

Could you imagine how horrid humans would be to elves if that were the case? To elves humans would be walking sacks of fetish flesh spreading filth wherever they went, like some sort of c'thulhuloid admonition.

Seems pretty in character to be honest. No wonder they trail of teared the humans out of Xadia.

>Get your smelly round eared ass the fuck out of my country.

>Rayla wiping out Callum's eye crust
She's a filthy, filthy human filth fetishist.

Knowing that Aaravos likely taught humans black magic make me feel really angry when I watch his narration in the first episode.
You hypocritical piece of shit, implicitly blaming humans for splitting the continent when it was you kind's decision and occured as a result of what you did. You were never a friend to humans at all. Go rot in that mirror.

>Bites her lip the first time Callum shoots a snot rocket out of his nose
>the smell of his morning breath and B.O. make her eyes roll into the back of her head.
>her cheeks flush blue when she finds out what those white flakes are on his shoulders
>Sighs longingly as she notices the black under his untrimmed nails
>her ears flutter at the sight of Callum's backne
>"Mmmmm... brown streaks in his underwear" *she moans as she fingers herself at night.

>Pic related (he coughed into his hand before touching her)

>She'll cut out your kidney and leave you in a bathtub full of ice with an apology note pinned to your chest - if her brother needs a new kidney.
More like:
>She'll cut out your kidney to get her regular fix of heroi- I mean black magic and fix her cracking skin/grey hair when she's 20.
Always the best way to hide you have feelings for someone. Wet your finger and groom them.

Attached: Rayla.gif (500x269, 1.9M)

>Getting normalfags out of your hobby has always been a sacred pastime.
Then why haven't we banished Yea Forums from out hallowed halls?

She's and infant in a tub big enough for her to drown in

since both Runaan and Callum have mistaken moonberry juice for blood at some point, in my headcanon moonberry juice does actually resemble blood fairly closely. Maybe in smell too?

Do you think Elves menstruate

The show seems to want more modern ethics than it does want to make sense. Veeran did nothing wrong, but just had to deal with a bunch of moralfags over dumbshit.

Not only that but no one else offered any solutions or even tried too. Veeran had stacks of huge ass books. It showed that he cared about the people and tried hard to come up with a decision that would save everyone.

>>thinks girl farts are funny
And aren't they?

Harrow is such a shitty king, Jesus Christ! "Then we will suffer together"?
Fucking hell, bruh.

And by "we" he really meant all his poor subjects and peasants. Him and his noble buddies/family will be fine.

Viren did nothing wrong

>Sacrifices fuzzy aminals for dark magic
Ok. I give you this one. But sometimes you sacrifice things for the people you love.
>Warped ethics
Debatable. Dark magic isn't evil and sacrificing that deer is not different from killing it to use his components to make objects we need or use.
>fucked up dad
Hero of all humanity.
>Brother is a jackass
He is an idiot, not a jackass. He only hates elves because he had terrible experiences with them and probably would change his ways if he actually bothered to knew them.
>thinks girl farts are funny
They are.

there's an answer for being clean and not bathing, you know

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strigil

Because it's Yea Forums saying this. The invaders pretending they belong.

At least Viren made all those royalties dare their lives to save both kangzdoms

Maybe because apparently they've not been allowed in till now.

I'm really worried that was meant to be understandable choice, and they'll double down on him being a "Good King".

It's the second post and the retards are already here. Just great

This is some food for thought

It seems like every DP thread is full of Viren self inserters and apologists ranting he's some kind of victim when the asshole is clearly making a power play.

Probably. Maybe once there's a full moon they just let loose and it all comes pouring out

I don't think there's been a single thread when someone doesn't come in and get mad at the show for having black people and lesbians

But user, Viren did nothing wrong and is second best husbando next to Aaravos. Third is Corvus.

I’m straight btw

Why is viren so hell bent on war? Everyone else seems content with a live and let live mentality.

I thought that was A chick at first

Enemy Assassin's just infiltrated their kingdom and killed their fucking king. Are you serious? If this was real life this would 100% led to a war.

He is making a power play because the country is filled with dumbasses and moralfags. If it wasn't for him the kingdom probably would have failed long ago.

I figured since he dies off screen there might be some big reveal.

No, I'm the one replying immediately after I see a new thread come up, because I like talking about the show. But thanks for playing.

That's a funny way to spell "infinitely fuckable," user

>you are now thinking about Rayla pragmatically using her rocket-menstruation to better propel herself from tree to tree

Yeah, only a moralfag would take issue with capturing an infant dragon and keeping it in a dungeon to use as a powerful weapon

Any time somebody rants about nonwhite or carpet-munching characters breaking the show's "realism" I lose a little faith in humanity. It's a pretend world made of pretend people. Take issue with a normal human wielding a thousand-degree Sunfire dagger that miraculously doesn't burn his flesh or set his clothes on fire just via proximity before you flip out about a pair of dyke queens.

He's inside Pip. Gotta be.

Viren

Attached: Viren.jpg (480x480, 77K)

>Yeah, only a moralfag would take issue with capturing an infant dragon and keeping it in a dungeon to use as a powerful weapon
Instead you would allow the baby grow up and become the most powerful creature on the planet and get revenge on the humans that killed his dad?

Why are you SJWs such degenerate idiots?

Or you could have, i dunno, not killed the parent in the first place to steal the child as a weapon.

In a perverse way I'd find killing it to be a more moral, or at least more understandable from outside, choice than locking it away.

It's a developing baby. Viren's keeping his hands on it to vivisect it and harvest its most magical parts once it's born. That's not simply killing the prince, which would be simple infanticide. It's like letting the prince fatten up so you can eat him while he's still alive.

Why do you unironically use the word "degenerate" if you aren't above sixty years old?

Why are you on Yea Forums if you hate degenerates?

Right now, I think that Aym is the only good dragon, and Rayla (and to a lesser degree Lujanne) are the only good elves.
The writers have an uphill battle is they want me to sympathise with Xadia.
On that note, anyone in the fandom who villifies Viren but idolises Runaan is a hypocrite and likely a fujo.

>Take issue with a normal human wielding a thousand-degree Sunfire dagger that miraculously doesn't burn his flesh or set his clothes on fire just via proximity before you flip out about a pair of dyke queens.
This. What the fuck?

The egg isn't sapient from what we've seen at that stage anyways. There's no harm in keeping it dormant if you know it's going to grow up to be a nightmare create, aligned for the side you're at war with, moon elves that drink your blood.

Attached: Captain Applause.gif (256x192, 1.99M)

>It's a developing baby. Viren's keeping his hands on it to vivisect it and harvest its most magical parts once it's born.
To be fair, we don't actually know why or what Viren was keeping it around for.
That is the most expected explanation given what we know but considering it's also the kickstarter of the plot, I also wouldn't be too surprised if there was more.
But also I'm not sure how in depth the writing on this series wants to go so maybe not.

Yeah but everyone else, minus the kids, are sitting round doing nothing. Who else are we supposed to root for?

So the dragons are allowed to kill humans willy nilly without any retribution? I wonder who can be behind this post.
>In a perverse way I'd find killing it to be a more moral, or at least more understandable from outside, choice than locking it away.
Well a good thing for you he didn't or there wouldn't be a story since Rayla would have killed the princes.

>To be fair, we don't actually know why or what Viren was keeping it around for.
To be fair, Claudia's first thought when having a sentient dragon captured was to hack it into every piece possible and send it home.

Also who cares if he's making a power play? It's not like anyone there earned their place.

>Claudia is more ruthless than her own dad
That'd be a riot.

Imagine Rayla when she learns about smegma

Are you guys serious? That dragon was in human territory and started torching a village. It had everything bad coming towards it. So far the writing has been really bad if the purpose was for you too side with Xadia over Big V and his kids.

If the guy you're rooting for is willing to kill his friend's children, he's not the best choice to put into power because he will justify worse to hold on to said power. At least the kids are trying to unravel the mess the adults are making.
You care when the one making the power play is willing to sacrifice the country in a war meant only to satisfy his lust for more power and dark magic knowledge. He's proven that his 'care for the people' is only smoke and mirrors.

You're looking at this as black and white when the true path is something inbetween. Both sides have been assholes to each other, but continuing the bullshit will make things worse instead of better so it's time to find a new way.

Killing the princes is arguably the only bad thing
>He's proven that his 'care for the people' is only smoke and mirrors.
That is undeniably false.

Where was the Dutch and Arabic?

>Are you guys serious? That dragon was in human territory and started torching a village.
It had been flying around for days and didn't do shit until retard brother started taking shots at it. They never explained why it was there.
>It had everything bad coming towards it.
Yeah totally, everyone who gets caught by police should be hacked into little pieces and experimented on.

Stop defending your psychotic waifu.

you're right only white people have fantasy

The whole story has been Black and white
>dark magic is evil
>Viren is evil
>killing the lava giant and Thunder is evil
>killing/capturing the dragon is evil

I agree that both sides have been assholes. But I find it really difficult to compare their asshollary when one side is using animals in a slightly larger variety of ways and mostly either trying to survive or take revenge for stuff that was done to them, and the other side fucking trail of teared an entire race for the actions of a few and is implied to have oppressed them pretty badly even before that.

>It had been flying around for days and didn't do shit until retard brother started taking shots at it. They never explained why it was there.
So if China flew drones over California we should just let them without shooting them down?
>Yeah totally, everyone who gets caught by police should be hacked into little pieces and experimented on.
What a retarded false equivalence
>Stop defending your psychotic waifu
So you are a troll

Fujos are all over Viren, though.

Attached: D3MPH6EUUAAIAxA.jpg (984x1200, 158K)

>What a retarded false equivalence
Says the guy who compared a living organism with unknown intentions flying over a bumfuck town to China flying multiple drones over California.

She was just going to murder it for rare parts like it was a jackpot and you know it. She didn't need a reason other than the fact that it was defenseless at this point.

Mostly because of Aaravos and to a lesser degree Harrow.
But I still see far too many of them whine about Viren for being a pragmatic would-be child murderer and in the same breath gush over Runaan the dogmatic would-be child murderer.

It's a fucking fire breathing dragon. And when fired at instead of fucking off like it should have it goes around torching the town.

>anyone who doesn't bitch about a show having minorities is a sjw

>Viren burns a room full of orphans
>Virenfags: REEEEEE Viren dindu nuffin!

If he was actually just, he would set himself as regent until the princes came of age, not murder them. If he can make a decision like that, it'll be just as easy to sacrifice more blood if it got him power.
>That is undeniably false.
He's leading them to a war that isnt in their best interests, but his.
And the kids represent the alternate path. This is basic storytelling, and a theme repeated across countless stories like this.
It's not about who was worse, it's about who is going to finally get over the hatred and end the cycle of bullshit. That's the theme of the story, no different from Avatar.

I don't really read much in regards to this show or its fandom outside of these threads so I'll have to take your word for it. I've seen way more slutty fanart for Viren than for any other character, though.

Again, we don't know why it was there. Maybe it was supposed to meet with someone. Regardless, throwing arrows the size of small trees at it when it dindu nuttin was a terrible idea. Soren just wanted to say he killed a dragon and Claudia just wanted body parts; their motives are fucked. The villagers were watching the spectacle but were smart enough to leave it alone.

>It's not about who was worse, it's about who is going to finally get over the hatred and end the cycle of bullshit. That's the theme of the story, no different from Avatar.
That is false. There is no cycle of hatred in Avatar. The fire nation were aaggressors and in the wrong 100%.

>It's not about who was worse, it's about who is going to finally get over the hatred and end the cycle of bullshit. That's the theme of the story, no different from Avatar.
True, that's why I'm rooting for the kids above all. But right now I see very few redeeming qualities for the elves not named Rayla and Lujanne. I hope in later seasons we'll get to understand the elf pov slightly better because right now I feel pretty bitter about them.

>we don't know why it was there
It doesn't matter it shouldn't be there end of story. The villagers didn't do anything because they were afraid of it because the dragon was clearly trying to intimidate the humans.

Yes, but the point in the ending of Avatar isn't to destroy the fire nation, it's to redeem it.

>It doesn't matter it shouldn't be there end of story.
Always a good reason for live vivisection without anesthesia. Perhaps the reason elves think humans are evil is because miss Mengele and yourself assume guilt and then skip straight to grisly butchery.
>the dragon was clearly trying to intimidate the humans
Yeah I'm sure it took a 3-day vacation to intimidate bumfuck town.

Yes but that was of secondary importance. The point being Avatar wasn't grey and grey morality.

I wonder if we are going to see more of Queen loli and Redhead Queen next season

Does tdp have a fandom in Japan?

Very few people are as committed to contrarian edginess as faggots like you.

And you are retarded as fuck. Not even real liberals would agree with Harrow's retarded decision to starve his country.

You would be if the elves were causing the famine.

>it had been flying around for days and didn't do shit
Yeah except divebombing the populace with the express intent of terrorizing them.

Some, of course the first one to get into are fujos just like it happened with VLD, still niche though

... what?

Yeah, just took a look at pixiv, and like half the illustrations there were of Aaravos.
Elflust really does transcend all boundaries.

The elves are causing famine in order to spread discord amongst human's.

For some reason I get the feeling that there is a significant number of elves in Xadia who want to genocide humanity. That would make Xadia basically the fire nation of tdp.
AtLA wasn't afraid of dealing with genocide, so tdp is probably going there, too.

It however touched on the cycle of revenge several times when addressing morality, which is the point I was making. Especially about becoming a monster for the sake of 'Justice' that commits the same crimes you're avenging or worse. At the moment, Viren is no different from the people he hates and will continue to escalate in atrocities if unchecked.

I wouldn't be surprised. It took a while for us to learn more about the Fire Nation outside of Zuko and Iroh's viewpoint.

>yf when Calum and Rayla discover Sarai's remains.

>If the guy you're rooting for is willing to kill his friend's children, he's not the best choice to put into power because he will justify worse to hold on to said power. At least the kids are trying to unravel the mess the adults are making.
Sure but he's doing SOMETHING. In a story you follow the character whose driving the story, because otherwise there would be no story.

>who is going to finally get over the hatred and end the cycle of bullshit. That's the theme of the story
I just hope they don't go in an absolutely retarded way about it (see Rayla freeing the red dragon to "end the cycle of violence").

No, what you're describing is an antagonist. And the protagonist reacts to antagonist. The kids aren't just sitting around either, they're finding out more about the world.

I'd like to think they'd find a different way, or go with the release and then have to put things right when that decision screws everyone. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if Red gets released by something unexpected.

>You care when the one making the power play is willing to sacrifice the country in a war meant only to satisfy his lust for more power and dark magic knowledge. He's proven that his 'care for the people' is only smoke and mirrors.
Viren might be a shit leader but there's nothing to suggest he's not genuine in his motivations.
His first plan was to save the King and was willing to sacrifice himself to do it. Likewise earlier on, he was the guy who suggested they NOT sacrifice the people under the King's rule for the sake of Duren.
Viren clearly believes Xadia is going to attack and is acting in that mindset, regardless of whether he's right or wrong.

The only time the kids where in conflict with Viren was when they clashed with Soren and Claudia. Otherwise they're off on their own adventure whilst Viren's failing to pull off anything elsewhere.

Viren is more like a secondry protagonist of the B plot at the moments. His enemies sure aren't progressing anything.

Sun-aligned creatures are out for blood: the armies gathering at the border are Sunfires, the dragons hovering over Katolis are red and breathe fire, Soul Raygun is patrolling the border not unlike Thunder did when he was alive. I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to take over now that Thunder is dead, Zym is believed to be dead, and the Dragon Queen won't be able to produce another heir in a thousand years.

I feel like the scene with Rayla wanting to free the dragon would have been a lot more powerful if Rayla was trying to free a human prisoner of Elves, or if it was Callum or Ezran wanting to free that dragon or some other Xadian prisoner of humans.
It just feels like, the dragon is Xadian and Rayla is Xadian, so of course she'll stick up for it. It might even look like she's overlooking the pain it caused for that human town because why would she care, she's an elf and they're human.
A human sticking up for a Xadian, or a Xadian sticking up for a human, on the other hand, would be more impactful. A real step towards peace.
I hope we'll see something like that in a later season. Just any sort of positive human-xadian relationship other than our protagonists.

By that argument, Vader is the protagonist of Star Wars because Luke didn't clash with him until Empire. The man is still trying to kill them, even if not directly facing him he is still the antagonist.

Exactly. The cycle of violence should end through forgiveness and repentance. Not by an elf helping a dragon get away with torching a human town because she "feels" not doing so is wrong. If this is to be trusted, elves and dragons ganging up on humans was what started this whole mess in the first place.

Remember that sacrifice was because he would switch bodies with a guard, not risk his own life. You think he would actively do that if not for that cheat? The reason why I don't trust him is that he's addicted to something that corrupts him, and that he may have good intentions but is willing to do vile shit to achieve them.

>can only reproduce every thousand years
>eggs need very special circumstances to hatch
>start shit with a species that can pop 'em out every 9 months, live births
I don't care how powerful you are, you are DUMB. Send a goddamned fruit basket and an apology note because the best you'll ever be able to do is ATTEMPTED genocide, you'll never get them all.

Right now, it feels like humans are making the vast majority of the concessions to the elves. There are exceptions, mind you (ie Rayla being willing to lose her hand so Ezran would live), and it's probably because we mostly saw the humans' perspective so far, but unless we start seeing some tolerant elves and dragons soon, it's going to be difficult to root for peace over human victory.

It's easy to pull a Cycle Of Violence argument and I'm sure the show will, but the truth is most conflict isn't driven by revenge. If it was we'd probably be in a much better place globally now.

>You think he would actively do that if not for that cheat?
I mean yeah, he did. When Harrow confronted him with whether he'd give his own life to do so, despite some hesitation, his final answer was clearly yes.
He literally said he was going to be the person Harrow wanted him to be, said goodbye to his children, and entered the room alone with the Soulfang. You have to be pretty stubborn to read it any other way.

I mean, some would argue that yes, he is. Either way, in Star Wars the heroes where still coming into conflict with the consequences of Vader's actions.

Viren never succeeds at anything so there are no consequences to clash against.

And yet, he didn't in the end did he? It's not being stubborn, it's judging him by his own actions because he's alive and lying to the people that their king is dead.

He tried to and the King refused it and was a classist bitch about it.
Whatever happened next we don't know.

Even if he isn't succeeding he is still an opposing force to the princes by seeking their lives. And he did succeed in gaining control and convincing everyone that the king died, which is a pretty huge success and consequence of having to keep the people and his children from finding out about. He also has the issue of the kids ratting out that he had the egg all this time, which is another huge consequence that will undermine attempts of peace.

It's heavily implied he's transferred to the King's pet bird, that his body was killed and that was enough for the promise band. Also he had reason to be wary about using forbidden magic because how often does that work out well and he'd seen with his own eyes how fucked up it was.

>Even if he isn't succeeding he is still an opposing force to the princes by seeking their lives.
Which the kids havn't really faced yet outside of Soren and Claudia.
>And he did succeed in gaining control and convincing everyone that the king died, which is a pretty huge success and consequence of having to keep the people and his children from finding out about.
He succeeded for like a week and then failed to do anything with his position so again, no consequences yet.
>He also has the issue of the kids ratting out that he had the egg all this time, which is another huge consequence that will undermine attempts of peace.
The plot's only happening because he has the egg.

I'm pretty sure the arguments moved from the original point, that is being active makes Viren easy to root for because stories rely on people doing things. Regardless of the morality of their actions. It's WHY villains have been so popular in the past; Villains act, Heroes react.

Runaan's band doesn't fall untill after he stumbles out of Harrow's room.

I understand it makes him somewhat sympathetic but still villainous, I just disagree with the dindu nuffin, righteous crusader image that gets thrown around the threads. You can like a villain without having to whitewash him.

Ruaann killed the body, the soul remains safe in the bird. Still works.

Sure and a Villain can be a bastard without everything he does being sin.

The "nothing wrong" attitude is probably more rooted as reaction in the off kilter framing of the other adults actions.
Stuff like Harrow's damming of his citizens and the Dragon's attack on the town doesn't feel placed under the same scrutiny as Viren's actions.

Overall I think the show would do better if there where multiple characters with their own agendas creating conflicts, either in the short term or the long term.
Right now it feels like they could just execute Viren and all the problems go away, which I don't think the show is aiming for, nor is it grey morality.
Likewise Viren feels like the underdog which makes you feel more pitiful for him than afraid, and kills any tension he could potentially bring to the heroes.

I do equally blame Harrow for it, and his character blamed himself as well. His biggest mistake was losing his temper just when Viren was stepping back and sealing his fate. Even if I'm harder on Viren because his actions are scummier doesn't mean I think Harrow wasn't fucking up either. I also don't feel Viren's an underdog though, not at all. The man has been experimenting and plotting for a very long time, and reminds me of the type of villain that seems weak at first then winds up pulling a stunt that wrecks the entire playing field and cements his victory.

Adding to this, I also agree that we definitely need more viewpoints and conflicts.

As long as he keeps loosing to those of equal and higher status, Viren's an underdog. What he might achieve in the future is irrelevant right now.

And untill that time, the show could do with a more effective threat.

>and his character blamed himself as well
When does he do that?

Uhhhh he have blue sauron right over there

>somebody's black or gay

Look man, the king is black and his dad was black, but everyone else is white except one or two other guys. It's pure pandering, just like all of the other stuff and it's in your face bad. "she only ever had three legs and she was just fine that way the whooole time!", These two lesbians have a daughter but we're not going to explain the queendom and how succession works. I like the mute asskicking general personally because she's just a mute asskicking general, but they could at least try to make it more than "because we could and you better not ask questions".

>Look man, the king is black and his dad was black, but everyone else is white except one or two other guys
Factually untrue. There are tons of black guards and peasants everywhere in the kingdom. I agree on the lesbo queens however. That was just retarded.

King Obama is literally raising his wife's happa son.

>Look man, the king is black and his dad was black, but everyone else is white except one or two other guys.

There are plenty of nonwhite characters. Would you prefer there be MORE prominent nonwhite characters? Or that the animators make every crowd a roughly 50/50 mix? Or what? What mix would make sense to you, would the king have to have been from a "black" kingdom?

> "she only ever had three legs and she was just fine that way the whooole time!"

It's a family television show. "You can live well, flaws and all, it's other people's misunderstandings that will hold you back" has been a trope in those stories for ages.

>These two lesbians have a daughter but we're not going to explain the queendom and how succession works.

I'd actually love to see some worldbuilding about their queendom, but (forgive me for assuming it) I get the feeling you'd be furious if they DID spend any time focusing on the dyke queens and how their line of succession works, because suddenly the show would be dyke propaganda. Maybe they use surrogates? Who the fuck cares?

And...?

>To be fair, we don't actually know why or what Viren was keeping it around for.
This is my headcanon.

Killing the dead leader's underage heir is extremely common in history

>a black father is *actually* raising a family instead of skip town
I mean, it sounds like actually progressive stuff to try teach them to actually raise a family, isnt better a step father than grown up fatherless like many do then later on find a lobster man that will try to be their missing father in exchange of jewtreon bucks?

Jesus christ tone down the syrup, my ears are getting sticky.

Staff needs to address the halfbreed question

Fucked up noses are a huge giveaway.

Politics ruined everything for me, cannot help but feel like someone else is using the characters mouths to speak or convey some politcal commentary trough their actions.

Where is that fucker Morpheus with his bluepills.

But those are generic anime noses

"generic anime" doesn't typically drawn them going all the way up to the the eyebrows. Some do, but I wouldn't consider those generic.

>instead have faith that it can be a narrative of love"
Wouldn't something like "make the future a narrative of love" make more sense?
It's hard to call assassinations and forced displacement an act of love after all.

It’s even worse

Is there a nobility class in Katolis.
How did Harrow rule all that land.

>Spend 3 days hovering over village
>After 3 days people get tired of your shit and launch a single arrow at you
>Doesn't fly away, Doesn't focus anger at the tower the arrow obvious came from
>Instead focus on burning down the defenseless villagers and their homes instead
I don't know how they want us to take the whole situation with the dragon. But since they implied dragons are sentient to a degree there's no way it's in the right.

Someone mak a ship of these two now!

They did

I love this show, but I hate how the bad guy feels like he's going nowhere. Literally none of his plans are working, everyone on his side of the war doesn't like him, and the minute he has serious power he gets dog piled by a bunch of no names. Like, where's the conflict? How does he become a major antagonist if literally everyone is against him?

He isn't gonna be the main antagonist its going to be the Star Elf at least that is what I think.

Turns out he was a good guy and his failures were all set up for the real antagonist

Two seasons without decent tension isn't fantastic for this sort of show.

Not all tension must come from the main bad guy.
The setting of the story provided enough tension for the first two series, knowing that they're underprepared kids going out on an important journey, having to hide their intentions even from adults who want their best interests (eg Amaya). And for the first season, Viren seems like a credible enough threat, trying to rip the throne away from under them and making it dangerous for them to return.
By the time Viren showed his cracks in the second season, Aaravos was making his debut, adding much needed mystery to this story and an antagonist which is shaping up to be incredibly difficult to oppose.

Tried watching this but the plot is too damn retarded. You mean to tell me they really couldn't think of a better solution too save their King? I mean you know the knife ears are gonna attack at night on full moon. Why the fuck did they not just hide/relocate the king somewhere else? If my dumb ass can think of that why couldn't anyone else?

>Instead focus on burning down the defenseless villagers and their homes instead
No, he burned all the things.

A rightful response when the other side decides the reaction to trespassing is execution. And you think mutilating and killing PoWs that are simply trespassing is A-okay!

Frankly the assassins all died, except the one that was captured.

They should have just walled the king in and dug him out when the full moon was over. Hard for elves to fight when they have to dig the king out.

>A rightful response when the other side decides the reaction to trespassing is execution
You are either a human onions guzzler or a pretty good troll. Also that is exactly what Thunder has been doing for centuries.

>That guy did it, so it's okay.
There's a reason humans are in a quarantine zone. The first instance we see of Thunder murder is after people murder an elemental Titan.

I can't imagine anyone would be able to ignore a dragon doing mock-dives over their roofs at night while they're trying to sleep. Especially if it did so 3 nights straight.

It's as the tracker said, the dragon was intimidating them into a fight it knew they wouldn't be able to win.
Soren is stupid for falling for it's trick without a backup plan, but that doesn't' change the fact that the dragon started the whole confrontation in the first place.

The thing is, Soren was perfectly fine with simply scaring the Dragon off after his initial shot. The dragon itself choose circle back around and attack after being given essentially a warning shot, and it attacked not only military but innocent civilians as well.
It's kind of funny that you think the proper response to a warning shot is to destroy everything in the area.
It's not even like humans and dragons are on even playing fields. All the cards are in the dragon and elves hands.

Stop larping as a knife ear.

Just because you think every hour is murder o'clock doesn't mean I'm larping. If anything it suggests that the creators are well aware of the human mindset of biggotry and wanting to kill first, kill again, and maybe question some things after several generations of racial dominance.

Someone posted this on a TDP discord, I think it's one of the first musical pieces inspired by TDP

Attached: Back-to-Tumblr.png (546x700, 308K)

If anything, you just described the elves.

No he didn't. The elves never questioned their choice to ethnically purge Xadia of humans.

Ah that true.
Maybe that's why the elves are better than the humans. They stick to their convictions rather than surrendering to foolish concepts like empathy or mercy.
Rayla's the only exception, she's basically a pointy-eared human.

The elves are doing a pretty bad job of making history into a narrative of love desu.

I don't about that. Her casual racism towards humans would suggest she's doesn't disagree. Just wait till she calls someone human fella Jim. She's just got a little bit of the human fever. And if we count Aaravos, I wouldn't be surprised if we learned human fetishism is common in Xadia.

It's the extra fingers, isn't it?

Shut the fuck up, Rayla.

Oh no, Viren is an idiot but at least he isn't anywhere nearly as bad as Harrow.

>Awright callum! tak' a snort o' this angel stoor ah fun in this vase!

How is Viren an idiot?

She's casually racist, sure, but she does spare people's lives. Her whole conflict in the first season is about not wanting to kill humans and reconciling that with her job as an assassin.
So in other words, she's less like a member of the KKK, and more like that one uncle of yours who had too much to drink last christmas and is ranting about his new brown neighbour. Still shitty, but not quite hate crime shitty.

His political and diplomatic abilities are absolutely abhorrent. The way he handled the meeting of kings was dumb and he should have reacted differently in order to achieve his plans instead of chimping out like a goddamn moron.

Viren is a magical genious that earned his position and skill. But as a ruler and a representative of his nation, he is a complete idiot.

And it's doubly impressive that she's only that racist considering she almost certainly grew up around far more racist people.

I bet you could introduce a theory that Viren is autistic and that would make Tumblr explode.

Why would Rayla say that?
She thinks Elves are the good guys and humans are the bad guys.
She'd probably just think humans are dumb and can't farm properly.

Well what would you have suggested? I mean his chimp out was warranted all things considered.

Politics isn't about deserved/warranted, it's about effective.
Viren is a pragmatist. That's the core of his character. If he knew anything about politics, he would know that.

I like how there is literally NO reason to Watch this gay ass retarded show if you're not a mentally ill liberal.

Attached: 1544063402957.jpg (624x474, 24K)

I agree but what would you have suggested?

Because being the racist she is, she would push a narrative that allows elven objective to be successfull (as per this combo of post clearly implies , ) and cause disray among the humans, even if such a thing can only be achieved by muddling the elven supremacy's reputation.

I like how you lurk in these threads for days just seething.

Take a deep breath, calm down, do not antagonize your only plausable allies. Warn about the threat and how his kingdom will assist when the time comes (and it WILL come). Then use both, the dragon attack and the shadows as means to form an actual alliance agaisn't elven scum.

By throwing an autistic fit, he made everything harder for himself and any possible military alliance between the kingdoms of men.

Gondor and Rohan these are not.

The elves are putting magic in the humans drinking water to make them complacent. That's why queen loli doesn't care that there's literally an army at the boarder. It all makes sense now. Filthy knife ears are to blame. They even control a disproportionate amount of the worlds magic. They're to blame for everything.

How come she legit doesn't care?

The elves have her under their thrall.

Bide your time, collect intelligence, encourage miloitary recruitment, listen to your millitary advisors who were actually on the field while you were cooped up studying black magic in the castle. If they think war is imminent, then you have some allies if you want to declare war. If they don't think war is imminent, then they probably know better than you.
The reason the US can afford to declare war for one terrorist incident is because it's much more powerful than its enemies. The same is not true for Katolis vs Xadia or even the entire Pentarchy vs Xadia. And if your political situation is precarious and you're at a PR disadvantage (like if you're the regent after the murder of the king and the princes are missing) the last thing you want to do is go to war.

"dark" magic is not even evil.

all magic is just taking the energy from one thing(the sun, the moon, the sky, etc) and moving it somewhere else, "dark" magic works by the same principle, it should be called life/vitality magic since that is the fundamental force that it manipulates.

Dark Magic isn't really a bad thing. And no matter what elves say, it is magic (a very powerful one).

But the writers all know this shit and I doubt they will ignore it.

Okay Aaravos

If you don't think that witch Claudia isn't evil for killing a poor defenseless lamb just to heal her retarded and racist brothers legs than you are legitimately sick in the head. Dark magic is an abomination far worse than the Dark Side of the force.

Who cares? Its just an animal. Just like all elves are just animals.

Yes it is edgelord. Killing anything just too do fancy tricks is evil. Just like killing the magma titan and healing the dumb jock.
Thank You!

Okay straw Xadian

No, they are not soi boy.

Saving 100k people isn't exactly a fancy trick.

>Yes it is edgelord. Killing anything just too do fancy tricks is evil. Just like killing the magma titan and healing the dumb jock.
Are you saying TDP is just anti-vaxer and alternative medicine propaganda?

The whole "why attack that dragon? All it was doing was flying around!" thing is retarded, but c'mon now, user, the only evidence we've seen of Thunder being violent was after provocation that any ruler would have to respond to. Humans sneaked into his kingdom in order to rip out one of his subjects' hearts to use for magic fuel.

This is after the humans got kicked out of the kingdom for using dark magic in the first place, mind you. Not saying it was right to Trail of Tears the entire race because a few dickheads figured out how to leech out life energy to turn on candles, but it's kind of a giant "fuck you, what are you gonna do about it?" to trespass into a neighboring kingdom and murder what could very well be one of the rarest creatures in it for pure convenience's sake. Kings used to hang peasants for trapping rabbits without permission; what's a king supposed to do when an armed force kills a citizen unprovoked?

Seriously. I know Yea Forums hates Dyke Loli Queen and all, but him insulting her--not even as a king, but as a regent--and browbeating the other rulers when they didn't immediately latch on to his plan to invade a fucking magical kingdom full of dragons that mostly leave them alone would ALMOST be out-of-character level stupid if the show hadn't already established his biggest weaknesses are pride and ambition.

This line of thinking, treating the writers as retards for portraying dark magic as useful but inherently corruptive, drives me fucking insane.

What's better: the way they're doing it now, where humans have understandable, sympathetic reasons for using dark magic but the magic itself goes against the laws of nature and slowly poisons you the more of it you use? Or some Star Wars shit where dark magic is just this indefensible representation of evil that never even gets a fair shake outside of an EU novel?

I'm astonished Claudia even got a monologue defending dark magic. A shittier show wouldn't even bother defending its benefits.

>the last thing you want to do is go to war.
And if your enemy decides for you?

Viren did nothing wrong.

Did you not watch the first episode? It clearly says that Thunder kills any human that trespasses the neutral zone.

/pol/ really are cancer, outside of a bit of shitposting, elitism and the great wall of Yea Forums Yea Forums in general was relatively positive about things, but now its full of people who take internet hate machine a little too literally. And all the damn /pol/posting.

The border itself was just the final prolonged blow to the forced displacement of an entire species. A never ending act of violence.

Why are the Elves and Dragons never pressed to end the cycle? To reach out in any way and make peace? Even semi-peacefull relations would open up acts of retaliation that wouldn't lead to war.

Not exactly, they punted it

He ordered his son to murder two children because they would've been politically inconvenient and kept one of the chief causes of the king's assassination in his basement so he could make some kind of magical WMD out of it.

If they'd left the egg in Xadia instead of pretending to have killed the damn thing, maybe tensions wouldn't have been as high.

Fuck me, you're right. I guess I was a little drunk.

Good question. Given S2 ends with Rayla unhappy to see a dragon, and Runaan was presented as being unreasonable and xenophobic for still insisting on killing Ezran even though the kid was perfectly willing to return the egg, I get the feeling S3's going to be a lot more critical of Xadian politics.

Gotta agree with you there, I don't even know what /ck/ is anymore, it's not the same board compared to what it was a few years ago at all. I miss it.

Honestly? The latter. Because at least it sets up consistent expectations in the writing.

This is a half-hearted attempt at depth that only highlights areas where it hasn't been thought through.

It's like the uncanny valley of realism.

Then hopefully, the time you bought by arming up and collecting intelligence and not attacking would pay off. You'll be able to unify your country better by not looking like the one who provoked it, and your enemy would be fighting in a land you know better than they do.
There's a wide spectrum between burying your head in the sand and throwing soldiers at mordor expecting to solve the problem.

Why is this show so damn slow? In the first season of Avatar we had seen multiple examples of all four bending styles. In this show we have barely seen 2 of the primal sources in 2 fucking seasons. What gives?

>Then hopefully, the time you bought by arming up and collecting intelligence and not attacking would pay off.
Wasn't that the plan Viren bought to the Pentachry anyway?
He probably wasn't planning to stick to it but he sold it as a defence of the human side, not an invasion.

In all fairness Viren really does have shitty commumication skills. I can't believe I'm saying this but Katolis could do with some actual politicians.

If Viren's advice was basically 'arm up and let's share intelligence', he wouldn't need to call the pentarchy at all. He would just need to make contact with millitary officals in other countries and discuss it with them.
It's pretty clear he wanted to declare war, hence why Aanya refused to risk her armies.
I think they're trying to make the world more mysterious this time around. It fits with the ambiguous morality and the idea that certain aspects of the history we've been told might not be completely true.
Compare the narrators: AtLA has Katara, who is unambiguously good and an ally to our hero Aang. Vs Aaravos, the mysterious elf who is most likely a bad guy and is probably using every possible half-truth when he isn't lying outright to get the listener to think what he wants them to think.

user, have you seen Aaravos? That's a literally compliment.

Attached: D3JdiA_UcAA9lE9.png (500x764, 406K)

Let's see. Claudia:
-Doesn't want to return the egg to Xadia
-Thinks Callum's criticisms of dark magic are retarded, and is in fact escalating her use of dark magic, which already makes Callum uncomfortable, in order to leech energy from adorable deer so she can make her brother walk again
-Lied to Callum's face about her intentions, tried to kill his new elf friend in the process

Yeah, I'm sure Callum will let bygones be bygones the next time they see each other, especially if she's a half-gray hag by then from overdoing the dark magic.

Let's see. Rayla:
-Tried to kill Callum and his little brother
-Thinks humans are retarded and is a dumb Scottish bigot that values dragons over humanoids
-Lied to Callum's face about his father's death and the purpose of the armband.

Yeah, I'm sure Callum will let bygones be bygones especially since he already has feelings for her.

>Callum discovers magic

I mean I can still read it but seriously?

And now we see why.

>Why are the Elves and Dragons never pressed to end the cycle? To reach out in any way and make peace?
Isn't that the entire point of Rayla's character? She's the elf that decided "hmm maybe murdering some dude and his kid won't actually fix anything."

Because there have been 18 episodes, less than Avatar's season 1. The seasons aren't even narratively distinct and were likely produced together. Netflix is pulling their "let's cut up one season and call it two" trick again.

An eye roll seems out of character if people were watching him. Not enough vagueness nor enough playfulness. Something like looking into an empty glass, blowing into it, digging around; like he's looking for a brain is far more realistic at this point.

We haven't had enough character development though.

Who knows what Aaravos is up to when people aren't watching, though.

At least Yea Forums keeps its gay shit confined to one thread. Usually

Aaravos is here, it's too late now

If you're flat at 16, chances are that's not going to change

Attached: D2vvXOWWkAICvx3.jpg (750x598, 53K)

Or her bra is too tight (no, I don't belive it too).

Instant growth spurt still exists.

Considering the very existance of the pentarchy, it's very likely they already have several treaties in place. Hell, there are probably armies from multiple human kingdoms patrolling the border together.
Millitary commanders don't have to ask their king for permission for every little thing.

Remember, it doesn't matter how much of a neet you are, Aaravos has you beat and he still has fangirls lusting over him.

I'm expecting some good 'hands off my man' scenes to come up

What if elf couples are violently yandere over each other and that's considered normal in elf society, but then Rayla becomes violently yandere over Callum and that scares him away?

I am sure Claudia will be completely baffled by that.
It puts everything about her use of magic into question.
She believes dark magic is all humanity has against the Elves and that all she does is necessary.
Callum proves that it is not.

After that absolutely failed love confession I expect Rayla to take her hostility out on someone if Callum gibs Claudia the time of day.

If Claire pulls some bullshit confession because of date night and 'never wanted to hurt you,' I think there'll be stress from assassin elf finally wanting to kill someone.

Attached: Claudia Tou.jpg (1200x803, 297K)

I'm expecting Callum to have an excellent twink-elf fellow disguise and Rayla having to scare off some elf-chad.

Fujos are a blight

Bad disguises have been a thing in this show.

Based

>Thinks Callum's criticisms of dark magic are retarded, and is in fact escalating her use of dark magic, which already makes Callum uncomfortable, in order to leech energy from adorable deer so she can make her brother walk again
Callum's criticism of dark magic ARE retarded. His arguments are based entirely around a subject that neglects to mention that there is profesional training in dark magic and you need to study certain disciplines to truly master it.

Other than that. Everything else she did was completely justified and I dare say that morally correct.

>Hey you know this thing you're morally opposed to, and in fact have now found an alternative to? You're retarded for not liking it
>Also I'm going to kill your friend the first chance I get
>Also give me that egg my dad wants it, I don't even care why he wants it

Yeah, he's gonna dive right into that cooch for sure

Apparently we're only going to learn what's up with Aaravos in season 6.
We better get there.

It's amazing how Callum went from "wow Claudia, you are so lucky you get to learn magic! I'll switch places with you any moment!" to "eeew, ~your~ kind of magic is so... you know... ugh" in a week.

What's the best round to kill an Elf with? .308? 5.56? 7.62? 12 Gauge for the Shotty?

Source for such torturous news?

Because elves shooting themselves in the foot due to pride, arrogance, moral high grounds, etc. is a fairly common trope.
>Kill a criminal? Like a human? How barbaric.

Aaron Ehasz's twitter.

Elves are spastic fuckers.

Fun but odd fact about shotguns, you'll slowly degrade the life of the barrel of a rifled-shotgun shooting actual shot down it, but it gives a spread closer to a sawn-off. Put some buckshot in a rifled 16" barrel and have fun. And keep in mind there are semi-automatic slug throwers.

>"eeew, ~your~ kind of magic is so... you know... ugh"
Yeah, pretty unlikeable. Magic is magic, no matter what any old elven bitch says.

More importantly, it was the weapon that proved to the entire world that humanity doesn't have to take more abuse from those knife eared pieces of shit.

Fuck off you dumbass /pol/shitlord. Dark Magic is clearly and abomination and evil. You can see that when Claudia killed a baby lamb just too heal her racist brother.

God, 7 was great

No different from eating lamb or using animal based products to save lives.

Dark Magic is that which has saved humanity in the setting... so.y boy.

It's easy too use, unethical and corrupts the user. It's like a malignant cancer/fossil fuels/greenhouse gases. Especially since Callum shows there is another way.

>It's easy too use,
Callum nearly died for having no damn training in Dark Magic.
>unethical
It cured a human being from being paralized forever.
>and corrupts the user.
Never judge a book by its cover, you fucking racist elven piece of shit.
>Especially since Callum shows there is another way.
Not nearly as available as Dark Magic.

Fact is, Dark Magic was the best choice for all humanity. Fuck the elfs.

I realize that this is Yea Forums so making wild assumptions about a person's character is normal, but my opinion is that they have put a certain message above storytelling. Hey look the dog is just as capable as a normal giant dog. Hey look at this line of black kings in a setting where blacks are outnumbered 10 to 1. Hey look lesbian queens. None of those things alone bother me. The fact that a lot of them don't make sense to the setting or aren't explained bothers me. It tells me that they haven't thought of it any further than doing it and patting themselves on the back for being brave and progressive.

P.S. You don't have to vilify your opposition.

>Hey look at this line of black kings in a setting where blacks are outnumbered 10 to 1
That just isn't true. There are lots of blacks in the Kingdom. There isn't a scene where there isn't a black soldier or villager.

How do they not make sense to the setting and why is it so important that they be explained to you? Would you really prefer the writers stop the story progression to give you a bunch of footnotes?

I think someone else covered the fact that queens having lesbian lovers really wasn't uncommon, especially in eastern kingdoms. No one would dare name them them a ruling title, but they were comfort items because the king was never there.

Hell, in China they had glorified harems of "attendants".

Oh wait, one of these two is black. And they're dolled up oriental style. What a damned surprise.

Attached: Dragon Prince.png (1280x640, 358K)

>Implying nobility ruling over an ethnically different majority hasn't happened several times irl
Why is it only when the colors are reversed do people throw a shitfit over it?

>source your ass

>saved

In what way? Its use got them exiled! If humans hadn't listened to those cunt elves and spent more time trying to connect to the arcana, maybe they would've found a way to use magic without killing bugs and bunnies for MP.

The message behind a black king, some Asians, and dyke queens is: "these things are so normal we're not even going to point them out. Now, ADVENTURE!" It is the most low-key, least preachy way I've seen a television show do "inclusion/diversity" in a very long time.

>Hey look the dog is just as capable as a normal giant dog.

As I said, the "you're not broken just because other people don't want you" thing is a common trope in every children's show, not just this one.

>Hey look at this line of black kings in a setting where blacks are outnumbered 10 to 1.

And what's an appropriate ratio for you before the black king gets weird? Is it good or bad that when he remarries there's not as many blacks around so he marries an Asian? Should it be a "black" kingdom with a few white guys in it?

>Hey look lesbian queens.

...and?!

>a lot of them don't make sense in the setting

The setting where the entirety of humanity, every race on the continent, was force-marched across a lava field and crammed together, shattering old national lines and creating a diaspora that blended together for a thousand years, united against a common enemy right across the border? Yeah, I can't imagine why you'd see races or sexualities you don't see in traditional fantasy in a setting like that.

>they haven't thought of it any further than doing it

Because there is no "further." What's the further? Do you need a season laying the groundwork justifying multiracial kingdoms and lezzing-out queens? Or do you just expect all fantasy to resemble LotR? They're just people.

>P.S. You don't have to vilify your opposition.

Now you're just acting gay, user.

Hi Rayla

What a nice thead you have there...

The only thing I don't like about them is that they share the same face model, and I can't ignore it any time they're on screen.

They are twin brother and sister, obviously.

My theory: Sincle Elves are limited to using only ONE type of magic if they use “good” magic, Avaros (was that his name?) wanted to know if it would be possible for him use magic beyond his element (perhaps he even believes that elves limit their potential by being shackled to a single element). As he didn’t know what the effects of dark magic were on the mind and body, he used humans to do this experiment the same way we use chimps.

There's nothing inherently bad or unethical about fossil fuels. It's only when most of the globe becomes dependant and builds its industries on and around it does it become unsustainable.

We've only seen 2 humans regularly use dark magic and even before the split, we're aware it's only Dark Mages and not all of humanity.

Likewise Humanity can hardly be blamed for not utilising Primal Magic when it was common knowledge that it couldn't be done.

>lord of Reddit spacing
The paint on your ENTER key must be the first thing to go.

ORIGINAL THEORY TIME:
Aaravos invented Dark Magic but it was only a means to an end: Light Magic. While Dark Magic kills to create magic, Light Magic forms life out of magic. Aaravos is one of the last of his kind and wanted to use Light Magic to create more of his people, who were tragically killed off by other races long long ago. However, Aaravos can't properly create Light Magic, only humans can, and a human that can use all 7 magic types at that. He caused the war between the elves and humans in hopes that humans would conquer and use all 7 types of magic, but the humans lost the war and Aaravos along with them, hence being stuck in that mirror.

You saw it here first folks.

Because I'm a person and when I observe something sometimes I want to know how and why. World building isn't a footnote, the best stories explain at least in part the intricacies of the society being observed.

These are two queens not a queen and her secret lover. I'm just interested in the story behind how their system works. Right now it just feels like they threw it in to say they did.

It isn't a "shitfit" to say something seems out of place in the setting. Can you actually point to an example of an extreme minority group ruling over a majority without having a superior military and committing war crimes regularly to keep the majority in line?

cough

Are you against all medicine which uses animal products?

Not a historian, but what percentage of the Roman Empires were Romans? Wasnt Like over 90% of the empires population either Celts, Greeks, or North Africans?

It's a neat idea, but Aaravos is clearly standing with the elves during the war.
There's ore to the story than that.

For all we know, black people aren't even an extreme minority in Katolis.
Hell, maybe they don't even distinguish between black and white people in that world. Maybe being black is just like being red-headed in that world, different appearance but no difference in culture or history or social status.
You wouldn't bat an eye at a redheaded monarch rulling over a country largely populated by brunettes, why is a black monarch with a population that has a white majority so different?

I assumed the same; when you share a continent with four-fingered-horned-immortal-magic freaks, differences in skin colour probably don’t seem too significant

Especially not when those four-fingered-horned-immortal-magic freaks have been oppressing you for over a millenium with the help of some asshole giant lizards.

Aarovos please sign my grimoire

Why do so many people spell Aaravos' name wrong?
Are they afraid the webpage will turn black?

Can someone explain people who ship Soren and Rayla to me? Is it just because of that one line where Soren thought she was into him?

The only explanation I can think of is that it's a companion ship to Callum/Claudia.

>SorenXRayla
That's so incomprehensibly weird that I'm having trouble imagining them interacting. I can see her sarcastically making fun of every thing he does just like his sister, but that's about it.

Maybe she could bond with the dumbass by teaching him how to read or something? He's loveable as hell because he is an idiot.

Attached: Crack Ship.jpg (500x500, 78K)

>I can see her sarcastically making fun of every thing he does
that was basically her two fights with him, so that seems about right

I guess if you don't want to ship Soren with a guy or his sister then Rayla is basically the only remaining option

What if Thunder forbade Aaravos from wearing shirts while in the mirror, supposedly as punishment, but actually Aaravos doesn't mind not wearing shirts and the real reason Thunder doesn't want Aaravos to wear shirts is because he liked staring at his chest?
What I'm really asking is why don't we have depraved Aaravos dragonfucking porn yet.

Sol Regem appears in the intro and on a significant number of the posters. He's likely important.
What if he's the real big bad? Or instead, what if he's gonna become the mentor figure?

I want to see Aanya and Ezran in a political marriage.

What?

Please stop speculating about kids fucking, and start speculating about normal people things, like (adult) dragon fucking.

Do you think Rayla pesters Callum to draw weeb shit for her? How cringe are her OCs?

Attached: D3wfbEOUUAEJhgv.jpg (1200x1200, 348K)

I think the better question is; given the writers of this show have referenced memes before, how likely are we to hear the line "draw me like one of your human girls" next season?

Never since this is a SJW show. I bet we will never get anything like pic related

I'm hoping there's some half elves in Xadia that weren't exiled but are second class citizens

> I'm just interested in the story behind how their system works.

Me too! Just how the line of succession would work alone would be a fun rabbit hole to go down (surrogates? Magic cloning? Adoption, where children taken into the family are declared blood members?). But you know for a fact we'd get twenty times as much bile and bitching in here if a cartoon went all in on worldbuilding for a lesbian queendom, and besides that, the queens aren't the main characters in the story. At least it's not "stealthily bi" Korrasami; they're just incidental gay characters. Not treated as inherently noble or special for being gay, just treated as commonplace. I like that shit way better than the ham-handed earnest "our love is real!" crap a show that dared to include gays would pull even five years ago. I actually respect your position on worldbuilding, and this show could do a lot more of it, but I think you're jumping from "they wanted to include these characters in order to establish that these relationships and races are unremarkable in this world" to "they're clearly clumsily pushing a tryhard agenda so they can pat themselves on the back."

I'm writing something right now with a bi guy in it. Not because the story needs a bi guy; because I think someone who could flirt with more characters allows for a wider variety of interactions, and as a bifag myself, I'd like to see more stories where being openly bi isn't treated as some huge thing characters need to discuss. Not everything needs a worldbuilding explanation.

Medical science has waged some successful campaigns against organisms that literally spawn and die generations within hours and have potential mutations within months

Joking aside, since we don't see elves chewing grass and fermenting it in multiple stomach pouches (is that how it works?), and they don't secrete lanolin into body fur despite having similar horns; any sheep-like odor makes little sense.

Fascinating. Tell me more about these hippie dragon micro-biologists and their competition with the black magic laboratories we keep seeing.
