For as bad as Infinity Wars was, IF-Loki was fun and he was doing what he thought was the right thing.

Gillen's run will always hold a place in my heart because it's when I first seriously started getting into Marvel/DC stuff. It's been awhile since I read it all, but I remember it still being good. It's a shame pretty much nothing else I've read from him, capeshit or otherwise, as really felt as good.
Interested to see what anons make of it nowadays. I can imagine the comedy later on grating on people. It's one of those things that became less endearing when it became more used. The Whedon Effect, essentially.

Gillen does get a bit one note, unsufferable boring, later on, but I do think Journey Into Mystery is the one of the best stories Marvel has put out in the last decade.
You should check out The Ms marvel run that ran concurrently with Dark Reign I love me Carol vs Karla.

She was more a hanger on. Busiek and Johns used her (along with Ant-Man (Scott Lang) and Jack of Hearts) to flesh out the ranks of the Avengers. Busiek probably used her the most. Bendis inherited that from them. But her book was mostly b-list written by one of Bendis's proteges/friends Brian Reed that was to expand on story elements from the main New Avengers (and later Mighy Avengers and Dark Avengers) books.
But the recent push is completely different. They got rid of the black costume and replaced it with the Kree uniform from the movies. The problem is KSDs writing was more uninspiring than Reed's and avoided developing her character using her current history and tried to create something more out of whole cloth that just didn't work.

It's not the most effective, but I think the point was more to remind people that Loki is still a high-tier god. He's just more known for his cunning and trickery and his main opponent is one of the strongest beings in the universe.
