Could a Marvel Gaming Universe actually work?

I’m down for this

Sure, if gameplay remains solid and complimentary to each character. Making an Iron Man VR game clearly wasn’t the answer though

>A Hulk fighting game with other gamma members
>A WW2 shooter where you play as Captain America with Nick Fury and The Howling Commandos
>A Open world of GOTG where you explore vast planets
>A platform with Ant-Man where you shrink and grow as a gimmick

Attached: 1553931856189.jpg (326x308, 15K)

I'm not buying any of it at least new anyway. SMPS4 was good enough but it's let down in several areas like multiple characters and the DLC was a complete load of dog shit. Give me a game where I'm just Peter, Miguel, or Ock and we'll talk.

Attached: Marvel's Spider-Man_20180914203154.jpg (3840x2160, 436K)

I’d be down for an Ironman VE game so long as those stupid fucking motion controllers weren’t required

It would help if Disney was not retarded and gave the avengers to square enix. Already damaging the brand after the sony/insomniac spiderman "did ironman numbers"

yes

>Hulk game
>Mission based maps ala Ultimate Destruction
>Leader is the main antagonist with several Hulk rogues leading up to his fight, including Abomination, Absorbing Man, Wendigo, and even Ross both in a mech and as Rulk
>Betty could become The Harpy (or Red Harpy), going from boss to possible playable character/help
>She Hulk sections
>Abomination DLC as a playable character encouraging rampages
>Game rates your smashing like DMC
Fuck this will never be a thing.

More Marvel-Sony-VR games please

That game happened because Sony co-owns the rights to Spider-Man with Disney. No non-Spider-Man games will happen from that studio or universe.

Insomniak isn't owned by Sony

Another punisher game would be neat. The last "good" one was back when the 00s movie came out and you got the neat torture kills.

>another attempt at a marvel game universe
Stop this shit you can’t have devs work off each other like that it will never work

What if the next mvc has to used these versions of the characters meaning we lose out on iconic costumes again

I already hate the fact that spider man refused to do comic accurate costumes let’s not continue this shit

not with the derivative shitpile of a game that Spider-Man for PS4 was.

I would play the shit out of a Marvel vidyaverse

>A WW2 shooter where you play as Captain America with Nick Fury and The Howling Commandos
>actually thinking we'll ever see the original Fury in media ever again

Attached: 1430010468490.png (441x331, 202K)

Easy

>WWII Fury is the white one
>Modern Fury is the black one

>mfw Iron Man VR

It's all so tiresome

>A WW2 shooter where you play as Captain America
Don't know about that one bud. I could see it as more of a DMC/Metal Gear Rising kind of action game except with "Shield" as the gimmick

>Stop this shit you can’t have devs work off each other like that it will never work
That's cause nobody's ever tried

I don´t see how that would improve the quality of games.

The gaming industry is already shitty enough to make it focus in a gimmicky crap instead of focusing on gameplay and story.

A MGU would sell a lot, but it would drag down the gaming industry even more, the same way cinema has turned into a crapfest because everybody is trying to make their own cinematic universe.

With such a basis you'd be basically being for a new Assassin's Creed franchise

>A MGU would sell a lot, but it would drag down the gaming industry even more, the same way cinema has turned into a crapfest because everybody is trying to make their own cinematic universe.
Won't happen
Video Games =/= films
Video games need good graphics, gameplay and interactions as well some other stuff like physics etc...
What are some good marvel games besides Spiderman PS4 in recent years?

Fuck that, I legitimately would rather have a DCGU.

It could, if you let competent studios actually do their fucking job than worry about executive meddling getting in the fucking way.

Well we'd need relevant DC games that aren't fighters or Batman first

>DCGU
As bad a making MGU
just making quality games and put crossover and easter eggs on it.

just make*

That is true.

But fuck it, good Superman, Flash, GL, WW, Aquaman, etc. games are possible. Just no one's done it yet.

bring back MAA, you fucking faggots

>Believing this
Sorry but the industry also lvoes to focus on shitty story

>Miguel game
I'd love it but they would never make a standalone Spider-Man 2099 anything besides a comic. It's always gotta be Spider-Verse or Shattered Dimensions or whatever because movie or game or TV executives probably don't expect 2099 to sell.

> Superman, Flash, Aquaman
Barely possible with current technology
a WW game could work with God of war/Ryse gameplay

>Superman Game
>Barely Possible with Current Technology
Go check out Megaton Rainfall

Yeah that was supposedly the plan for a while. I remember the stories about it from back before Spider-Man came out. If they can keep the quality consistent it should work. I'm mostly interested in seeing more Spidey over anything else though.

>Barely possible with current technology
I genuinely think we're at the point where a Superman could actually be really good. Hell, it would've been good last gen if anyone wanted to actually give it a really good, honest, solid go, someone who understood good action game design.

Aquaman's the same.

The Flash is really the only one there that's really, really tough to figure out how to make it work, but it's possible. That cancelled Flash game looked pretty cool.

I just want them to do another spidey game with more extended universe shit. Have daredevil and the punisher around town, and maybe an avenger or two. Keep it spidey focused but do a little more with the universe.

Spideyfags are the worst. Not everything in media needs to be centered on him.

>Flash
just make wipeout or fzero clone with different version of flash/villains instead of cars. Essentially sonic.

It depends honestly on how they do it. Will the story be more original? Will it give the players more options? Will they take more creative control and make stories that don' really follow the comics and othe rmedia?

Again, it depends

As long the games are more based on comics than movies, yes! Spider-Man is a good example.

Square Enix Avengers game is based on MCU

It will be shit then.

>IM game worked around something like the anthem framework
>WS/BW stealth action MGS style game
>Mass Effect style GOTG
>muh live service co-op Avengers game

Devil May Cry game, but with Taskmaster

This would be a great time to introduce the Squadron Supreme.

>A WW2 shooter where you play as Captain America with Nick Fury and The Howling Commandos
I want Wolfenstein styled Cap and the Howling Commandos game with Nazis and occult shit.
>A Open world of GOTG where you explore vast planets
This would be good but it's painfully obvious they don't fucking know what to do with the Guardians and it would take a very creative person who is willing to not be restrained by the MCU or trying to be the MCU to go full Cosmic and make interesting stuff.

>Mass Effect style GOTG
Including the option to romance anyone I want?

More like
>A Hulk open world action adventure with other gamma members
>An open world action adventure where you play as Captain America with Nick Fury and The Howling Commandos
>An open world action adventure of GOTG where you explore vast planets
>An open world action adventure with Ant-Man where you shrink and grow as a gimmick

>being Peter and romancing Rocket Raccoon

>Wolfenstein styled Captain America game with Nick Fury
>It's the only rated M game in the MGU
youtube.com/watch?v=-Z1S6xqqqic

Superman and Flash would be hard as fuck to pull.

I think WW, Dr Fate, The Atom, Adam Strange or GL could have interesting games.

DR Fate game would be kino

What happened to that Crystal Dynamics Avengers game that was announced like 3 years ago?

The Marvel universe is too dense.

It'll never rise up.

>an open world adventure where you STFU

Attached: gogodeleto.jpg (1024x1024, 101K)

I hope this means an actually competent FF game

>gory as fuck daredevil open world brawler with cameos by spidey and moon knight

An authentic Superman game is 100% escort and protect missions.
Superman is super because he plays the game we don't want to.

This. Or a spiritual successor at least. I’m still mad that it ended like it did. MAA2 fucked up everything.

>An authentic Superman game is 100% escort and protect missions.
Fuck out of here with this unimaginative bullshit.

Literally just give me a combat system inspired by action games like DMC or Bayonetta, and throw me up against a bunch of enemies and bosses who could either feasibly hurt Superman or do damage to the environment or something like that. Remember, enemies in DMC, Bayonetta, NG, GoW, etc., canonically aren't shit and stand no fucking chance against the protagonist. Why would the enemies in a Superman game be any different?

Thats not true at all. Plus you know they'd focus heavily on the story and being believable for an iconic character like Superman

>Thats not true at all.
I mean, it really is. Demons aren't shit to DMC protagonists, angels ain't shit to Bayonetta, pretty much nothing but the big fiends or Genshin is shit to Ryu, and nothing stops Kratos aside from the bigger gods or titans (though I haven't played the new one, not that I'm a big fan of GoW in the first place). Nothing aside from the Winds of Destruction and Senator Armstrong are shit to Raiden in MGR and so on.

inferior to web of shadows

Attached: WEB OF SHADOWS.png (1355x668, 768K)

>Punisher Bioshock-style acrobatics shooter
>Daredevil Brawler
>She-Hulk Rampage Brawler
>Carnage Assassin's Creed clone

Sign me the fuck up.

>and nothing stops Kratos aside from the bigger gods
or a spike trap on the floor

Fuck.
YES!

A big theme in Dad of War is that Kratos is old and past his prime, but he still manages to take out a dragon and several lesser Norse gods over the course of the game.

Neither Spider-man (game) nor Insomniac are owned by Sony.

Nah, Ted Price stressed that the game wasn't a by-product of the Disney/Sony Pictures deal like was commonly assumed. Basically, Marvel Games sign off on any publishers, including platform holders, who want to fund games based on their IPs and are fine with them retaining the publishing rights, just as long as

>the Mouse gets a decent cut of royalties
>the Mouse gets final creative say
>the publisher funds development and marketing costs

Spider-Man and Iron Man VR being Sony exclusives is down to this, as is Ultimate Alliance 3 being a Ninty exclusive.

>GOTG: Mass effect style game where you choose your quip
>CAP: MGS but with more hand to hand combat, imagine how badass the boss fights would be
>Black Widow: Splinter cell style game
>Iron Man: Xcom style meta game where you run stark tower and upgrading your suit but missions will consist of Ace Combat dogfighting and using developed tech to stop crises
>daredevil: just palette swap arkham asylum
>ghost rider: burnout paradise in hell

>>Punisher Bioshock-style acrobatics shooter
See I would think they do one of those twitch shooters that have been coming back into style.

>ghost rider: burnout paradise in hell

>Multiple riders
>Multiple bikes

Would be dope, I guess Johnny would be speed, Danny would be DPS, and Robbie would be tank. I would kill for this game.

>It’s a literal superman game.

Neat.

Fuck VR, it's such a stupid meme and I hate how much developers and braindead normies have latched onto it

No. Gamers hate annual franchises (COD, Assassin's Creed, FIFA) and games take waaaaay longer to develop than a movie. Rocksteady's next superhero game started development in 2015 (or even before) yet we still know NOTHING about it.

Also, your average person goes to the cinema more often than the times they buy a videogame, simply due to price alobem

That's actually ANOTHER good reason why a Superman game could work. A game doesn't have to be bound by logic or physics. That's why despite being incredibly powerful from a story perspective, in literally all those games I mentioned, you can still die to common enemies. Because the point is to be a GAME first and foremost.

It's like how before Injustice, people kept on saying that a DC fighting game wouldn't make sense because "HURR HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY BEAT SUPERMAN AS BATMAN," or something to that effect. While iirc, there is some canon explanation for this, it's a really stupid one and it turns out (to no one who wasn't an idiot) that no one really gives a shit and it still doesn't make sense as to why you can beat Atrocitus or Starfire as Black Canary anyway. A game HAS to bend rules for the sake of fun.

>This would be good but it's painfully obvious they don't fucking know what to do with the Guardian
GOTG game has already been made. it is called Borderlands. just make it be set in 3 different planets and BANG here is another money printing machine

Attached: motivated.png (240x262, 91K)

>we're not getting an Iron Man game that were like Anthem meets Vanquish in an open-world environment
>we're getting a shitty VR game instead

Do you think that game only exists to (besides push shit VR merch) is to be a proof of concept that an Iron Man game could sell? You have to remember the movie games were fucking terrible, and studio exec man doesn't want to invest in a stinker. However this also shouldn't matter because Marvel is hot right now.

Regardless an Iron Man game could sell like hotcakes if done competently. And your right, they really should just gut the Anthem software for the mobility and go from there

No, I would rather they just make good games and not tie them together.

I wonder what the X-men would be best suited for? Their own marvel alliance game? Could their abilities be best translated to a multi-character metroidvania? Or should Wolverine be the only one with a vidyagame?

Attached: superman.jpg (396x566, 143K)

Turn based party RPG.

That would make me happy if they were making this just for the sake of truly "selling" the idea of a real Iron Man game.

I'd kill for a third-person Iron Man game that had really good combat, being a mix of third-person shooting and somewhat deep-ish melee mechanics, where you might have access to a bunch of different armor customizations and gadgets or subweapons that might greatly change the way that you play. And also throw in War Machine as a second playable character with his own customization options and some unique gameplay mechanics, like having ammo-based weaponry as opposed to energy weapons like Tony, maybe being able to lock on to certain targets but still fire at other enemies thanks to his automatic locking on systems, and so on.

Throw in Crimson Dynamo or Iron Monger as a rival fight and we're golden.

>daredevil: just palette swap arkham asylum
I've had this idea before, and I think the funniest thing would be to lock the 'detective vision' on in order to best remind the player that daredevil is blind

Thats another good idea

For Cap, I'd imagine having melee combat like RE6's would be very cool. For all the complaints about the game, the melee in that game was something else.

>Their own marvel alliance game?
Nigga, it was called X-Men: Legends and it was the spiritual predecessor to M:UA.

That could also work.

Just do Metroid Prime 2-style echo vision.

>PS5 is nothing but capeshit: the console
im ready.

>a Sekiro clone with Silver Samurai as the main character
Sure, why not.

here is your sci fi adventure rpg bro.

Attached: 51RGDoYISLL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg (333x499, 42K)

Stop, it needs to stop.

>"Nick Fury" is like James Bond, a fake name passed between agents to hide identities
>White vs Black Fury is solved
>Potential legacy character

I could get behind this

In the comics, it used to be that black Nick Fury was the Ultimate Universe's equivalent of the white Nick Fury of the main Marvel universe, but eventually they introduced black Nick Fury as white Nick Fury's long lost son in the main universe.

A Hulk game like Ultimate Destruction! For the love of God, Insomniac! PLEASE! I'm begging you!

A Thor game in the gameplay of the original God of War trilogy.
Oh Yes!

Attached: MIGHTY NEED.gif (500x330, 513K)

did you even read him? He said spider-man.

When's Carol's game?

Attached: 73525828_p0.jpg (1342x957, 1000K)

>Wolverine game with Samurai Wolverine
>Branching exculsive skill paths for most Honorable samurai and savage beast mode
>honorable Samurai mode makes you use your sword more often but gives very deliberate and precise actions, sensory mode based around fighting leading to cues that let you perform different parries counters and grabs
>Beast mode feeds into your claws and healing factor. However your actions become more wild and savage some moves even becoming drawn out unstoppable flurries that can let enemies get the drop on you if you become trapped in a blood lust combo where you're tearing a single enemy apart rather than running crowd control. Beast sensory mode is based around hunting. You can easily detect where enemies are at all time making it difficult to get the drop on you in the first place and good for setting up ambushes.
>Silver Samurai rival boss
>Depending on how you play unlocks What If campaign where you play as Silver Samurai persuing Wolverine with a totally different play style

Attached: 29-wolverine.w700.h700.jpg (700x700, 213K)

>Party group but you can switch between the three at any time, every character has their own specific actions and dialogue with other characters. Depending on who you use could greatly alter the game paths.

>Fantastic Four XCOM with Reed analyzing all percentage chances of attack plans succeeding as the canonical reason for the stupid percentages

>Traveling around Marvel NYC and visiting various superheroes taking care of business

My body is ready

I'm a little surprised Marvel hasn't tried a battle royale game. Players dropping onto Batleworld from a SHIELD helicarrier. Looting items like Hawkeye's bow, Cap's shield, Iron Man armor, gamma power ups, etc. Maybe they'll do it in a couple of years when the BR craze has died.

Attached: 1525791242026[3].jpg (1920x1080, 310K)

why are you making me want things that won't be

no. marvel fans can watch any garbage disney throws at them and be happy, however, if a game is trash, no one is going to play it, even if you want to play it for the story, you can watch that shit on youtube the first day after release

The game is absolutely owned by Sony, they published it

neat. i can see unlocking characters from their lore and being added to the squad with their own abilities
>watcher, cant attack but makes it where you have no fog of war
>super skrull, has all abilities but longer cooldown
>silver surfer, powerful but prone to mental breakdowns
>doctor doom, OP as fuck

The only way a consistent game universe makes any sense is if they're all shitty fucking movie games.

When you shoot yourself in the head.

yea and what's your point?

Games take too long to make and quality games with big budgets are extremely difficult to create due to several people in key positions being morons most of the time and the need to appeal to a wide audience to make returns.

See: Marvel Spider-Man. It's boring as fuck after an hour or two, but people praise it for its production values and ease.

As long as they don't jinx it, then it's all OK. I like this and it would pretty much work as long as they won't go full retard mode.
