I liked Claremont but earlier and modern comics seem off for balancing exposition and being susinct. Goes for compressing stories into issues as well.

Silver Age Marvel is the best. You can actually see character development and arcs despite being super shallow at times. Way better than what DC had at the time. Other than Adam Strange, Doom Patrol and the Flash you only had some anthology stuff to rely on for good content.

60s Superman is decent if you accept it for what it is.

But you're right that 60s Marvel is some straight up next level shit. They made arguably the best superhero comics since Cole's Plastic Man and Beck's Captain Marvel (at the time), and to this day they remain among the best superhero comics ever made.

Well, hope you can get that stuff done to a reasonable degree. And yeah, Silver Age DC was... spotty around this time.

This. Most of the Super-books had a certain wholesomeness (Jimmy's ongoing, Supergirl's back-up stories), Lois' ongoing had damn good art (Kurt Schaffenberger is underappreciated) and Legion of Super-Heroes would get pretty good once Jim Shooter arrived.
