Should be more galley, less galleon. Several hundred years difference in technology, so really not appropriate in the style of Conan.

I'm mixed on Aaron's skill as a writer but Savage Sword is gonna be taken over by Meredith Finch soon so Barbarian wins by default.

Savage sword but both have been surprisingly good. Can’t go wrong on either pick. As other user said savage will be shit once Duggan leaves

Conan is set in an unspecified period from 7000 to 10000 years ago. A LOT of the naval technology in Conan just straight up does not add up.

With the caveat that its my first exposure to Conan, this comic has been great so far. Savage too.

There is quite a bit of wiggle room they have in that a lot of stuff from 500ish BCE to 1200ish CE fits okay, but stuff from the 16th century and later just doesn't feel right.

Looking at the original runs, they actually paid attention to these things. No real excuse now aside from laziness, just like the Pirates of the Caribbean pirates in the new Savage Sword #1

The tragedy of Barbarian is Jason Aaron seems to have funneled all his talent and played to the best of his strengths in this book when the other thing he's working on is the boring shitshow that is War of the Realms

Conan really needs a good quality Heavy Metal inspired graphic novel with art like the cover.
