They are short pieces. Sadly, at least the 1950s/1960 appearances. It's not even an entire run. And I think they only currently exist as paper scans and low quality ones at that.
This entire version is based on that but it's totally different enough (in the way that Morrison's and Way's version of Doom Patrol differ from the Silver/Bronze Age versions).
I enjoy that older stuff but you may not?

There's a drone shown falling along with the MM2 here, , so maybe it detached from the whisperer and re-joined Cave? There's definitely a time skip between the crash and Cave waking up in a stasis pod here , although it isn't outright stated.

Having an asspull in your comic is an unforgivable sin that demonstrates your weaknesses as a writer. Maybe I'm blowing it out of proportion but that is a fucking bitch move and the story is now worthless because it relies on shit happening that didn't happen. I need to stop drinking.

Might excuse the re-integration with Cave. It's still an asspull, as the drone would need to be prescient, but it (sort-of) acted like that when attached to the whisperer. Noting a low battery, and gambling on young Cave meeting old Cave, it could chose to rest in the eye socket again.
