I don't think it's too much of a stretch for "gender" to be a cultural invention on Cybertron after the planet and transformers existing for thousands if not millions of years.
Nobody blew up when Windblade arrived without any kind of fucked up baggage and the G1 show just had female robots (albeit in smaller numbers) around without going down a messed up path of equating gender assignment to psychosis.

Real life answer: the original 84 and 85 deluxe and up toys came from the Japanese Diaclone and Microchange toylines in which they originally had tiny little drivers and in fiction they were just machines and not sentient at all. When Hasbro licensed the toys they just kept the cockpits despite them not making any sense on toys like the Insecticons and Dinobots.
Even Megatron's gun accessories had a seat for a driver.

In Transformers fiction if you go by the cartoon's origin then they were originally manufactured for labor or war machines. In other later media they have cockpits in Cybertron forms either for tinier Cybertronians to ride in or they're just there to be there.

Part of their evolution from a series of naturally occurring gears and levers. Sort of how some humans still have extra muscles they don't use, pinky toes, and appendixes.

Looking at the old concept art and the newer ones make the shift from Bay aesthetic to Knight aesthetic more obvious
All the older concept arts look like the same weird and alien stuff you'd see in the bay movies

Consider that Bumblebee started development around when TLK was wrapping production. Bringing Knight into the project did wonders to the finished product. (That still shows signs of being rather reworked.)

Plus the great thing about it is it works perfectly as a standalone or a jumpad for a new series of movies, especially with the ending since it completely invalidates TF 2007

Some Transformers ride in other Transformers from time to time, like how Bumblebee rode in Wheeljack in episode 1. They're not completely necessary but they serve an occasional purpose and don't introduce any hindrance

No, actually he is an ultra Chad given he didn't half-ass the last two movies, I mean, they fucking suck but they were done just as well as any other Bayformers movies, as in full production values. And then he was gracious enough to help finance Bumblebee. His TF movies suck but his Chad levels are off the charts.

Then everything got out of hand about her transgender identity, and to make a long story short she became a lesbian and is dating a shortstack. She also had something with Hardhead and Prowl.

Also if anyone else customizes/parts-swaps their Kreons, you can name a dude and ask about their parts configuration/role in the story if you want.. Can't take pictures but most of them are just helmet/head/body/limbs.

My Weirdwolf is pretty similar to this one. Lucked out and got some spare Predacon parts for the torso. This is Tantrum's torso, and I used Headstrong's for Killbison.
