Why exactly did the DC Animated Universe come to an end?

Why exactly did the DC Animated Universe come to an end?

I feel like they could have easily done spin-off shows starring characters other than Batman and Superman especially with the success of Justice League and JLU, it's a shame the artstyle is pretty much dead.

WB was weird about the brand.

I mean heck, just look at how screwed up the Bat Embargo was.

Don't know, but I would love to see the DCAU fully rebooted. A Flash show or a John Constantine appearance in a Justice League continuation would be fucking awesome.

This was one of DC's most retarded decisions ever. Glad it's gone.

Wish they'd show us the near apocalypse of 09 that they mentioned in Batman Beyond

Because the showrunners and original creators felt they'd run their course with the idea after over a decade of success and decided to end the Universe on their own terms, and the studio agreed and wanted to branch out in to newer takes on the DCU with new creators?

I mean, would you've preferred it become a zombie franchise with a new spinoff every year?

I was never a fan of the post Batman TAS artstyle. It got so lifeless. Plus they ruined Batman.

It really was weird that they ended JLU when it was at the height of its popularity and never did any series following it but I'm guessing the costs were too much to their liking and just had the team do movies from that point onward. CN seemed to be more interested in their own content as well and it actually paid off with the Ben 10 series. Not so much with Generator Rex, Megas XLR, and Secret Saturdays.

a new DCAU cartoon came out like five days ago

And it was mediocre as fuck.
