I like this post.

I can't quite decide if this is an April Fool's joke or not. The item is for sale on Heavy Metal's website, so idk. I'll ask my LCS about it, if it's in the diamond catalogue it must be real, lol.
i thought this was an early aprils fool prank when i heard about it and it wasn't aprils fool then. i mean seriously it's real?
It definitely FEELS real. If it isn't, it's a really good prank
I guess I better actually post a shelf
I'm always a little surprised when I see that people have taken the Akiras out of their box. The 35th anniversary box is one of the best products I've ever bought. It's got magnets for god's sake.
It's cool. I still wish I could get the colored version of Akira.
I dunno what Marvel gets out of printing these Epic Collections in such small quantities. Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 7 hasn't even been out for two years and it's already out of print. What's even the point.
That material is coming out in the upcoming Omnibus Vol. 4, so there's that at least.
I had them in the box for a while, took them out recently for a change of view.
That's just backordered.
Marvel keeps their good stuff in print
god damn it Morrison, keep it in your pants
Anyone read Matt Kindt's ongoing with Boom, Black Badge?
I just built this shit
nice. What kind of wood did you use cause that's a ton of weight there, going to have to be strong to support that length
Not sure desu, it wasn’t the cheap shit tho. I guess I may have to go back and add more support In the center.
Sick Woodie Gutherie. Was is it exactly?
It’s a pretty good dramatized biography of his life starting right before he first leaves home
Sweet I'll have to check it out. I love me some Guthrie
My recents
god there’s a fucking like button. Fuck. i feel fucking dirty.

user why
what the hell are you doing with Nausicaa?
At a glance I'd say you should lacquer the wood, it looks well sanded, but that's still going to grind against your books when you pull them out.
What did he mean by this
oʍʇ one
die faggot
Absolutely based.
I can't wait to get a house with room to build my own shelves myself.
What is the second bottom picture of? The first is clearly some mexican skull
I'm going to give away some of the hellboy trades to a buddy and his GF. They are both artists so I'm sure they will appreciate Mignolas art
It's some of my artwork, I do some block prints and that's one a beer can that's spilling galaxy stuff. I feel weird having my own art up but it's what the girlfriend wanted
post close up pics, pretty sure artists are welcome here.
where's the hell on earth, user?
I've seen this /shelf/ card before. I suspect OP has little to no shelves since they've posted it a bunch but never any comics. or they're from boring publishers who aren't worth caring about/spoiler]
I think I know the /shelf/ that made the card and they are alright. Better than you boxman
>boxman
Swing and a miss. I just dislike the tumblr-tier "Waaaah stop liking what I don't" feel of the card. I know some people like it and that's ok too
how do you interpret it as that? it's clearly tongue in cheek
Hey /shelf/ how’s everybody doing?
Since this is, essentially, the “Buyfag General” on Yea Forums I thought I’d ask how everyone is dealing with the news that Didio is suspending the Bronze Age Omnibus program in favor of a new format? Personally I think DC can rot for canceling Brave & the Bold vol. 3 and JLA vol. 3. I won’t follow another halfhearted format change either, finish what you start DC!
Any good stories on mermaids?
Everything I was collecting has been cancelled anyway, so I don't really have to deal with anything anymore. I guess that's a perk?
user, if you’re getting those from IST, you need to take tgecshrink wrap off when you get them and check to make sure they’re not fucked up. They have a 48 hour return window.
Also, your sock drawer is a mess. Get a ruler out and straighten that shit.
I’m catching up still, but I guess the DP (silver age) and the BaTB v2 is it for me and DC for quite some time. I don’t buy trades or 12 issue HCs. Fuck you DC.
It still makes me upset. I mean, there's tons of stuff that I want collected, but they'll never do it. And the collection process leaves out tons of material, as well.
I cut one side of the shrink wrap and slide it off to check, you can see on B&tB vol.2 that I messed up and the wrap is messed up. So far...no issues.
My “sock drawer?” It’s just one long shelf that took two pictures to get everything in, you can see where Daredevil repeats. The angle is all fucked up because I was in a rush.
My main shelves are your standard Billy IKEA bookshelves.
>sock drawer
Sorry user all the shrink wrap made me think you had the ‘tsim.
Before I accuse anyone else of that, however, I confess i lost sleep worrying about getting all of Hell on Earth in HC.
I’m a little jelous, user- and that doesn’t happen in here very often.
Well...you’re saving money at least?
From what I’ve read the Silver and Golden age Omnibus programs are continuing, just the Bronze is being “reconsidered.” The already announced Joker Bronze Age and House of Mystery vol. 2 aren’t yet canceled either...not sure why those remain solicited but the releases that were right around the corner were cancelled though. ...or why you’d cancel a Batman title and a JLA title but keep the more obscure stuff, those were guaranteed to sell.
DC really needs to pick a format and be consistent with it. The Marvel Masterworks have been faithful for well over a decade, now the Marvel Omnibus line and Epic Collections seem to be working as well.
They need to do a lot of things. First and foremost, if you're going to start printing a run, at least have the fucking decency to finish it, y'know? Spectre is a prime example. Pump out two trades, they don't sell well, so instead of finishing and printing less, they just cancel it straight out, leaving those of us that wanted it fucked. People have clammored for The Question to be reprinted, but lol nope! Have a new version of Batman's Hush! And another Watchman! It fucking disgusts me.
Why does it feel like every thread is the same pictures and the same posts every time?
Because you're stuck in a time-loop. There is a way out but there's no time to explain.
There's only so many of us on Yea Forums at any given time. I usually only post my shelves once every 3 threads or so, trying to keep it fresh.
No, that's fair. I do prefer to keep books in their wrapping until they're next in the reading queue. Only started opening them "early" because I kept reading about the growing number of printing errors and I wanted to be sure.
So... once every two days?
>reprints four LSH runs at the same time
>finish none of them due to cancellations
a lot of threads usually get bumped to 500 over a week or so
Still holding out hope for a Silver Age volume 3 Omnibus...
Does it have Batman or Harley Quinn in it?
repostan
These Supreme Power covers are ugly as sin, but I love this comic.
Also Got Batman Incorporated Deluxe edition on eBay for $20.
Just ordered all 5 lucifer books
please tell me I won't regret it
Surely the second hand market will save u---
No Djinn?
Surprised they haven't reprinted this like they did Steph Batgirl.
Hell and Back is actually my favorite Sin City comic, but nobody else seems to feel that way.
They probably were going to, but then they cancelled Dixon's Nightwing/Robin stuff.
They even cancelled the new 5YL book, so I doubt it.
Starseeds is bonkers. Glaubitz is really into quantum mechanics.
Looks good. I just bought a house and my current shelves won't really fit nicely, so I'm going to be building a bunch of custom shelves pretty soon.
Those Crepax books look so nice. How are the Inside Moebius books? I've been meaning to pick them up.
Shelf goals.
Finally bought something, the 6th one.
Five fucking years but it's complete. At this rate Televisa will publish Morrison's Doom Patrol and Animal Man in 2030.
Black Is the Color by Gfrörer
inside moebius is good and a fun sort of autobiography but it's also a product of it's time mainly 9/11
fuckin based senpai
>Djinn
What?
personally i prefer moebius art itself to the books.
i miss all my art books.
That's my next purchase, is IST still the best place to get them?
I don't know if you'd like it then because he makes a point of not drawing any details in the book
i've read it but his real talent is art and not the graphic medium. but he's worlds ahead of some of the talent in comics.
this is a great comic. best thing JMS ever did
Nice! Have fun, Mexibro! I read the first book a month ago on a tablet and I've been contemplating getting all six TPBs ever since
Agreed. I love JMS's comics. I was so excited for his Amazing Spider-Man omnibus, until I learned they tacked on Sins Past. For what purpose?
His Thor omnibus is a bitch to find too; I hope it get reprinted.
Has Didio confirmed that Bronze is dead? Why announce a Bronze Doom Patrol literally last month if it was just going to be cancelled?
If it is dead but they keep the Gold and Silver one going, then I'm betting that they're getting fucked over by old contracts again. I swear, they'll reprint The Question the moment O'Neill dies. That guy must have had a great contract from his decades working at the company and being in editorial.
I bet they kept The Joker one around because of that movie coming out.
These were my favourite finds at a comic expo I want to on the weekend.
Also this came in the mail today. I plan to frame it.
that's dope. I want it.
Maybe someday I could get Tom Mandrake to sign it.
He didn’t cancel it outright, just pulled a few titles noting that no further solicits were planned at this time. He said that they were pulling back from the format to explore smaller hardcover collections that, if successful, would prompt further omnibus collections.
...which is bullshit because they used to produce their own “smaller size” hardcover format with the DC Archives and they cancelled that series to focus on the much cheaper Showcase format..which was cancelled so they could focus on the premium Omnibus format.
It’s likely a combination of creator rights as you mentioned and DC/Warner realizing they could milk the Bronze Age stuff harder than the Silver/Gold because the aging fans are nostalgic for it.
Random shelf pic to keep the thread moving.
Maybe. Where did you even find it?
I found it on ebay. The seller is this business called fun4sale1952. They sell comics and comic paraphernalia, a lot of really niche stuff too from what I saw looking quickly.
I met Tomasi at a con the other day and he signed a copy of Superman for me. He’s a pretty cool dude

Indigo sale killed me. Thank god it happens once every two years
Killed me too. Does it happen every 2 years? Like, it happened in March 2017? Because after discovering this 3 for 2 sale I decided just to camp out with a wishlist and buy everything at once the next time that sale happens. So, March 2021?
I stumbled upon two Toriyama books I've never heard of Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, and Sand Land. Both a single tanko each. Has anyone read these?
Is this a poster? It doesn't look like it's an issue. Please share how you got it.
I might have missed one in 2018, but my last orders on Indigo were from August 2017 (which was a "buy two, get one free" thing.
I got 18 things this time.
looks like a cover variant
Haha sorry I should have finished reading the thread.
I just saw in on ebay while looking for comics.
So, does the poster glow in the dark, or just the cover for the comic it's advertising?
It's advertising that the series had glow in the dark covers. Really fucking good series. I highly recommend it.
>selling off some figures later this week or next week
>will finally have enough money on my comic account
I-I-I'm gonna do it, lads!!!!!
Bronze is the era that benefits least from giant-sized, glossy pages with digital coloring.
The back issues are usually affordable enough for VF/NM copies, with a few rare exceptions.
As long as they finish off their current collections (B&tB, for instance) and actually catch up to the archives (LoSH v3/4), then I can rest satisfied.
Honestly, the Golden/Silver/Bronze Age collections look best in paperback as well. They also have less chance of going out of print and skyrocketing in price.
Sandland was alright, I read some of it back when Shonen Jump was just starting stateside.
Jaco I've never read, but it takes place in the same universe as Dragon Ball and one of the MCs is Bulma's hotter older sister. Most people didn't know about this one except in passing, until they made an appearance in DBS.
B&tB volume 3 was the first Omnibus cancelled my friend.

can you tell me more? is some of the story driven by science?
Babylon 5
Yes, you should have
Ah, ok. Basically after tasting the sweet nectar of the 3 for 2 sale I will never buy anything outside of said sale
Don't sell them unless it's for something major like surgery your insurance won't cover or whatever; you'll just end up kicking yourself later over it.
it's just 33% off, you can get those prices online hell, even can get that kind of deals at good LCS sales, I get 1/2 price books from a collector place, he doesn't have a huge selection but I can usually find something I like.
Not in Canada. I've never gotten prices as good as during the 3 for 2 sale. And idk what kind of "deals" your LCS has but mine is fucking awful. The best they have is 25% off (cover price.. lol. Canadian book cover prices, good joke), and even at 25% is more expensive than whatever Amazon/Indigo has it at. Subtract 33% and it's no contest
This guy is making me feel bad about getting annoyed with budgeting for books when they're 50% off list. I'm not trying to brag, this really is enlightening me of my first world problems.
I am Canadian though, and while 33% off is pretty good I can find equal or better deals many times of the year.
Go on and list some then, because I do all my book shopping online and I've seen all the prices. Indigo's reduced prices+33% off+coupon codes is the best prices I've ever gotten. Yeah some things go on sale on Amazon for 50% off but a lot of stuff like tankobans of manga never go on sale. During the last couple days of the Indigo sale they also tacked on 500 plum points for every book. Please tell me where I could have gotten manga cheaper, other than some fucker on kajiji
>Canadian book cover prices
Alright, I’m an americuck, but aren’t Canadian dollars easier to come by? I’ve always been under the impression the covers North American books had the same price adjusted for currency.
There have been times, in my lifetime, when the Canadian dollar was worth more than the American dollar, and even then, the Canadian book cover price was at least 30% higher than the American cover price. Canadian book prices are this long overarching national problem, which my grandchildren will also have to deal with. I'll never understand it.
>I’ve always been under the impression the covers North American books had the same price adjusted for currency.
You can see for yourself with a calculator or a google search that it never works out this way. Book prices always undervalue the Canadian dollar, even when the Canadian dollar outperformed the American dollar.
plum awards? I gave up on those a long time ago, didn't seem worth it, are they ok now?
Amazon has quite a few books that will go down to 33% or less off, but yeah maybe not Manga, I don't look at that. Inventory sales can be really great at LCS's, and FCBD many stores do really good sale prices. So I guess it's location dependent but here in the middle of the prairies they are pretty good to me.
>but aren’t Canadian dollars easier to come by? I’ve always been under the impression the covers North American books had the same price adjusted for currency.
we do have a much higher minimum wage, which was great when our dollar was on par with the US. But books are not priced to take that into account, even when our dollar was higher than the US the cover price on books was always higher. Part of it is the price of business, taxes, etc, but mostly it's just cause we are a smaller market so they feel like they have to charge us more to make it worth while to sell here
>plum awards? I gave up on those a long time ago, didn't seem worth it, are they ok now?
I mean, they don't add up to much, but when you get 500 bonus per book, and order 50 books, they add up pretty nicely. I mean, it's just a bonus. The 33% off alone beat everything I saw from Amazon.
The thing is, yeah Amazon sometimes has these amazing price crunches, but only for specific items. The Indigo sale was for EVERYTHING comics and manga. Everything I wanted, boom, 33% off whatever their price was. Plus another 10% off using coupons. I'm fucking kicking myself for every book I bought the last couple years that I thought I was getting a "deal" on. Almost everything I bought would have been cheaper if I did it in March.
This is what my math breakdown was when the sale was going on.
List Price is the M.S.R.P, which is what Chapters/Indigo sells at in the physical store.
Next is what the current price online is, which is usually matched within a couple cents with amazon.ca. The physical store does NOT price match the website.
The three-in-cart price was what the discounted rate from the sale was at.
Next to it was a look at how close to "66% on" each title was.
Then at the bottom are the totals for each of the theoretical sales checkouts.
Should have included 10% promo code
Here you go user. I'm going to eventually replace them with the hellboy day poster.
rate my comic. I think im gonna make it big
Pretty good stuff. I guess i have been really lucky and it is how my collection grew extremely fast (and with a crazy variety). My first LCS would stock $10 Marvel HCs and i got all of Supreme Power and Rodi Thor that way. Then they went out of business and i got a lot from them on out going out of business sale. Soon after Another LCS downsized their trades and put them for $5 each and so i remember looking at my receipt that showed about $700 and i paid like $60. And my current LCS has had deals of but a comic get another free from a small stack they had, and they had some Smith GA so i grabbed it. They also always have a bargain TPB bin that i sample. And right next to them is a guy who sell second hand books but only if they are mint. And always are 1/2 cost even if extremely OOP hence my Starman Omnis. I guess i am a lucky leaf. Oh yeah. I even found some of my comics from a library nook by the sidewalk, and yes i did trade in some books i didn't want for them.
i wanna start getting the injustice HC books, do i risk trying to wait it out for the year collections or say fuck it and get the part collections because they're all more or less already released and no risk of cancellation only falling oop?
Do yourself a favor and read them first, because imo Year 1 is so much better than everything that comes after it. Year 2 is okay. I couldn't be assed with anything after that
Any good pirate stories that aren't one piece?
not Yea Forums but I enjoyed Black Sails
Only other pirate comic I've ever seen was Black Freighter in Watchmen. Pirates are untapped genre, clearly.
Batman: Leatherwing
outlaw star
Have you not heard of Corto Maltese?
>Corto Maltese
>pirate story
user that's not piracy, that's just the author's mary sue self-insert kicking ass and fucking bitches and occasionally sailing somewhere.
So...a pirate story
No user. Corto Maltese is not what someone looking for pirates wants. If the comic actually was about the gang he was part of at the start of Ballad of the Salt Sea then that'd be great, but it isn't.
Hell I'd love a comic that was just about Rasputin plundering booty and shivering timbers but Pratt didn't deliver that.
define: Pirate genre
You know how westerns are about cowboys and bounty hunters and injuns and other people in the wild west?
It's like that but with pirates.
>plunderin booty

>adventurin

One Piece isn't in the wild west
Whiskey Peak arguably was.
Yeah i am confused about how Corto isn't pirate genre. He totally will take advantage of everyone around him

Pirates are so based. Why AREN'T there (more) pirate comics
Because romance is dead?
I pulled the trigger Yea Forums duckfag will be proud
>I'm going to eventually replace them with the hellboy day poster
>not replacing them with panels from the comics
missed opportunity
>Sternako, Wood, Windsor-Smith
Haha, yes!
are you the guy with the shooting monkey art on the wall?
Also Kirby, Ditko and Romita. If this has multiple volumes it should be dope.
The figures are no problem. They're duplicates I got from Amazon. I was rather talking about the fact that I'll have enough money to buy Absolute Sandman. Pretty hyped for it
I wanted to do it too but like the user below you already said, read them first. I have them on my tablet and I honestly consider not getting them at all unless the entire run is done, whether it be after Injustice 2 or 3. It's a pretty alright story but not being sure whether the entire run will be out is always risky nowadays

>Conan

Anything else I should add to that list?
>immediately spending half your money on comics
I mean I know that most people here spend lots of bucks on books but does anyone here actually have proper hobbies or activities they spend their money on? Sports, travels, etc.? Don't get me wrong, comics are a great hobby but I get the feeling that most people here don't spend their money on anything else and if they do, it's only a small amount. For 600€, you could probably have a great time abroad for like a week
Why would I go abroad? What do I gain by being somewhere I don't know anyone for a week, doing things I have no interest in? The books I can read whenever I want, but that week I will only once and then it'll be gone and I will have profited from it in no way.
Comics are cool, but sometimes a boy just needs to go out and talk to some girls.
You're saying I should buy women with this money?
I do a bit of sports but the only money I spend on that is for my gym membership and going to swimming baths. Haven't done bouldering in years because it's too darn expensive in the long run. I do lots of traveling, love seeing other cultures but that's because I have been all over the world anyway. It's the best thing to spend money on in my eyes but that's just me. Spending money on comics, ergo things you love, is also legit though
So you basically never leave your town? No wonder people view us comicbook readers as stay-at-homes. Your argument makes you look like someone who doesn't like to learn something new in life at all which is pretty sad
>user tells you to meet people
>you immediately think he means you should pay people
Imagine, doing stuff outside like eating, going to the movies, and going to parties often costs money
>So you basically never leave your town?
I don't live in the Vatican user, my country is bigger than one town and I can travel without needing sums like that to do so. I go hundreds of miles away from here during the summer.
Your over-exaggerated insults confuse me. Do you perhaps work for a travel agency? In any case I'm buying books with this money and I won't be going abroad.
You can visit a town or country several times, what kind of stupid argument is that? You get great experiences from traveling and see all kinds of stuff you would never be able to see at home. Not sure whether trolling or just anti-social
>you need $600 for a night out with friends
What the fuck are you Patrick Bateman?
Terry & The Pirates probably isn't the kind of pirates you're looking for but it's about tangling with pirates and criminals in then-modern-day China, like Black Lagoon in the 30s.
You are the one who said that traveling is basically useless because you're never going to those places again, yet now you're backpedalling and saying you travel in your own country, where the same argument could be used. Make up your mind
Who said anything about spending all the money for those things? My point was that the user immediately made a false conclusion after the other user said that it's nice to meet some girls
If that's what you got reading that, you're worse off than we thought.
You said I need to use the bonus I got to travel ABROAD, which is different from travelling in my own country. If I need to spend a bonus like that to travel abroad then it won't be a trip I can make whenever, freely. I fail to see why I should spend my money on that and how not going abroad means I never leave my town or my house like you claimed.
I bet you're all just jealous of my money. You can't have any.
>I got money, what should I do with it
>go meet some girls
The only conclusion I can draw is you're a pimp.
Why are some of you "people" this dense? Why do you need to spend all that money immediately anyway? And considering how many times I've seen comic book collectors complaining about being poor, well, when you're manchildren that can't manage your money for shit... no wonder you're poor.
Lile I said, if your mind immediately thought prostitution, you're worse off than we thought.
Fiest of all, I didn't say you MUST do it. Secondly, learn some basic reading comprehension. I initially generalised by saying traveling and then, as an example, said that you could use all of that money to travel abroad. Only you immediately concluded that it was only traveling abroad I was talking about
If you travel in your own country, that's great. You still make a terrible and very immature argument for not traveling abroad though
But what other possible correlation is there between money and women? Explain further.
Jeez, you're a dimwit. Not the user you quoted but goddamn, have you ever been outside? You can do all kinds of stuff with women. Go to restaurants, see a movie, go bowling, get a drink, basically stuff you do with your friends. Why does someone even need to explain this to you?
>spend money while I'm with a woman
>It MUST be a whore!!!!
I can't. Your mind seems to have not matured past twelve years old. Just go out, you nincompoop.
I just find it confusing that people in the comics & cartoons board and in the shelf thread of all places are telling me not to buy books and go travel instead.
lmao this thread npc general
Wow, it's interesting to see what some people here are like. No wonder many threads turn into shitposting when shut-ins who have no clue about basic socialising roam this board
So you're saying I need to pay for sex indirectly? Slow down, I'm taking notes here.
Strange how some people are not shut in emotionless robots that do nothing except hoard funnybooks.
some people would rather buy online than go to a real shop
some read a novel book than comic book
some would rather have pineapple pizza than something smart
Nobody is telling you to stop buying comics, stop projecting. It's very apparent though that your initial instinct once you get money is to spend almost all of it on comics while not understanding why someone should use it for something else
Not understanding why people would want to experience other cultures is indeed an NPC kind of thought process
Oh come on nobody eats pineapple pizza, let's not get silly.
God forbid you have a good time with a person you cherish. Holy shit, you're dumb
This
>pineapple pizza
Now that shit goes way too fucking far, I can tell ya that
>your initial instinct once you get money is to spend almost all of it on comics while not understanding why someone should use it for something else
I can perfectly well understand why someone else would do something else with their money, but I don't understand why they would tell ME to use it on something else. I'm going to buy those same books anyway, it just won't be at once if I don't use this money for it.
>God forbid you have a good time with a person you cherish
You mean like my mom? But she already cooks for me for free, why would I use this money on food when she already does that? You're not making any sense man.
I basically forbid my gf to make pineapple pizza when we make self-made pizza at home. I like to get wild sometimes but I don't tolerate savages
If it's yo momma, it be aight dough
>/shelf/
>life-advice and proper pizza toppings
The user's initial post was rather a question than a request though. Criticising someone over their action and asking them about their situation is what we do in shelf threads all the time. You just got super defensive about it which started the discussion in the first place
Also, getting books immediately and getting some of the books later are two different things. With the first option, you usually wind up getting more books in general while the second option teaches you self-restraint which you don't seem to have
Post your favourite pizza toppings immediately. They don't have to be on a pizza all at once
>salami
>ham
>pepperoni (chillies)

I agree with you on salami, onions, mushrooms and pepperoni but will add to that habaneros (I'm into the spicy shit) and kebab (surprisingly tasty)
Also I've eaten some vegetarian pizzas that got by with the thickest mozzarella coating you've ever seen, that was pretty good.
Okay, where do you want me to travel to?
uk anons if i wanted to verify the cover of a trade where would be best to go? i want to get the button but i want the lenticular cover version
Found a copy of the Spider-Man Cosmic Adventures Epic collection for $20. Buy or pass?
Note: I don't live in America anymore so there's no real potential to flip it for a higher profit.
Wanted to add mozza but thoight it was a no-brainer. Kebab is served here as well, forgot about that one, but I unfortunately don't have any at home when I make it myself
>habanero
Never thought about putting those onto a pizza. Now that you mention it, jalapeños should be perfect
I eat jalapenos on pizza all the time but it's gotten to the point that they don't cut it anymore. There was this one frozen pizza called Inferno they used to sell at Lidl that really got me hooked on the habaneros, first time I ate one I had to drink a liter of yogurt. It also had salami and red onion. Its production was discontinued though.
>Red onion
>Pineapple
>pepperoni
>Jalapeno
>Ham
>ground beef
>sour cream
>Chicken
>cumberland sausage
YES. That shit's out of print. Get it. That's a really good price.
>sour cream
Explain further.
I eat pineapple pizza, it's tasty
A certain place that I go for when there are good deals Dominos has sour cream drizzle as an option. It's pretty nice when I go for BBQ sauce and a few meat toppings along with it
*BBQ base
Not that guy but Germanon here. Spain, italy, france, austria, and croatia (and germany) are great places to travel to if you're in Europe
Damn, I wish our Lidl had more spicy stuff. Meanwhile, I have to settle for German "heat" which is pure laughable bullshit
>pineapple
SHELF CARD user!!!! REVOKE THIS MAN'S SHELF CARD IMMEDIATELY!!!!
>German "heat"
Look on the bright side, German sausages have all the spices in them right. I mean it doesn't do the same stuff chili peppers do but bratwurst is the most delicious piece of intestine anyone could hope for.
It's cute that you're trying to be a strong independent black woman that don't need no man mhmm dont tell me what to do. Except tell me what comic books to buy.
Eat pineapple. It's good on tomato base, I swear!
Why would I need a woman if I can have superior comics?
>post things you can say about comics but not women
I can read them like an open book and shut them whenever I want.
True that. Krakauers are my personal favourite though. The balkan regions also make incredible smoked sausages
Do not try to tempt me, heathen!!! I actually don't find it disgusting in itself but I just personally don't like putting sweet things on my pizza
"I like this splash page"
Easy on the eyes.
Easy to read.
Expensive but worth it.
They make me happy
No to both
"I have one"
oh boy
>tuna
There's this place in my mother's hometown that makes the best fucking tuna pizza. I find all other pizzas mostly OK and usually prefer kebabs and similar stuff.
not if you're attractive enough.
>Red onion
>Jalapeno
>Ham
>ground beef
>sour cream
>Chicken
>cumberland sausage
Literally all of these are worse than Pineapple you fag
Okay user I think it might be time for you to meet some girls as well.
No way fag
Girls are scary user

has /shelf/ transcended to a new level of comfy hangout?
How much did you pay for that?
picked this up from the LCS today. even if I didn't like the comic, I'd get these for the covers. take a bow mr ross. the fact that it's arguably the best marvel book is just a bonus
I really hope Ross does Thor next. i'd love a Ross Thor cover every month. there's so much asgard stuff he can paint
>rick jones eating chicken in a graveyard.jpg
$37 with shipping included. Almost cover price
damn. where?
Local retailer but I'm not from the USA
>even if I didn't like the comic
Shit taste get out
>Seven Soldiers: Zatanna
Thoughts?
Sorry, mate; I don't have any. :(
Tuna pizza is the weirdest thing ever for me. I love tuna and eat that shit multiple times every week, yet I can't stand it on pizza. It is way too dry every single time so unless you pour some shitty sauce on it, it really isn't that great of a topping on a pizza. I also feel that tomato sauce doesn't mix well with tuna in the first place
No they're fucking not and you know it motherfucker!!!!! YOU KNOW IT!!!!!
>Travel advice
>pizza toppings
What can I say, I like to stir shit up and then sway the conversation toward more fun topics. It makes the threads feel more alive
small part of a bigger story
Unless you're trying to build a Zatanna shrine or something, get the Seven Soldiers Omnibus.
Great part of a bigger story, and I wish dearly that Misty Kilgore would return.
She's in a town filled with forgotten magic characters, like that young coed that Madame Xanadu took under her wing in the 1960s, and most of the cast of Books of Magic
user who posted that list here. Pineapple was on the list and you omitted it. Suck my dick.
Aw yeah. Nice buy!
Yes, it's called Limbo, and Merryman runs the place.
i got waaay too much shit on my tiny shelf
Finally got the Cereal Lord Omnibus' in today, did a bit of rearranging, and got a (near) comprehensive checklist of the trades I'm missing.
Fuck I want those Doom Patrol paperbacks
Latest comics I bought are
>jla volume 3(?) Its the one with rock of ages
>dragonball z volume 1
>norsk troll
I notice that you go from DAROS to Kyle, and with your collection I find it hard to believe you don't have Emerald Twilight. Am I missing something?
I just got every volume of Fire Punch but one and that one releases later this month.
for me it's
>chicken
>bacon
>spinach
>feta
pineapple
>onions
A cursed desk buddy from a friend.
Kyle Rayner Vol. 1 has Emerald Twilight.
They're all cursed.
I have no idea what you're talking about I literally just started reading manga
I got a shit camera so sorry for the quality
No, I just want Zatanna
>he hasn't read kinopunch
I used to work at a pizza place so I go for some weird ones
>alfredo sauce
>broccoli
>cauliflower
>sweet peas
>bacon
>cheddar and mozza cheeze
can add chicken too
keep them dry
I love Zee but I felt Seven Soldier is a bit over rated. It's good but nothing really grabbed me. I do want to get Paul Dini's Zatanna HC though. Dini is a fucking magician...
what's your favorite colour? I bet it's Puce
It's teal
>Paul Dini HC
Is that one any better?
How do I know if something might go out of print soon?
Anyway, here's what I'm planning to get next
>amethyst vol 1
>flintstones vol 1
>dc meets looney tunes
>that spoiler
why are pineapple haters so autistic?
quality shelf
how much were those dark souls figures? Ive debated getting something like that myself.
>Tfw no gf
hooker's and blow user, zombie hookers and blow and comics
comics bring more joy than women
What's /shelfs/ opinion on mister miracle by Tom king? I really enjoyed it. I might get tom kings the vision.
I liked it but I like Vision and Omega Men better. I haven't read much of his Batman.
does /shelf/ have a favorite novel? Yea Forums sucks so I am asking here I can't pick between my two favs, The King of Elfland's Daughter by Lord Dunsany and Kushiel's Chosen by Jacqueline Carey
forever war
I enjoyed it, though I'm resisting the art tricking me into rereading to get more of the meaning of the tv fuzz.
Sadly don't read enough legit novels.
I'd maybe say The Hobbit because it would be great for a quick read anytime (similar to how the 70s cartoon movie is great for a quick watch anytime).
Probably Foundation or Chilhood's End.
Honestly I read his Batman run until the wedding and that make me hate avoid the rest of King's work, most of the issues is meaningless wandering and cringey dialogue.
What does /shelf/ think of Busiek's Conan?
Honestly the 70's Roy Thomas Conan is superior.
havent read the first one but sand land is cool
it's basic toriyama adventure shit like early dragon ball
>Probably Foundation or Chilhood's End.
pretty patrician i would say
I adore Busiek's Conan. The Truman stuff afterwards is good too although not as good.
>There's a Conan epic collection
>he doesn't know
Marvel is collecting all the Dark Horse stuff since they own it now.
>marvel
>mcu an aged conan the barbarian by Ahnold
>King Conan finally gets made
>but it's made by Disney
>but it's in their new R-rated line-up with Deadpool and the return of Wesley Snipes as Blade
Honestly this timeline was worth it all in the end.
I got them for the collectors edition of DS2/3. should be relatively cheap. Though out of the 2 I love the Soul of cinder statue over the faraam knight.
Where should I start if I want to read Red Sonja?
I have returned with a new rearranged shelf.
1/4
At the beginning. What kind of question is that?
Cool. Gonna have to rearrange that first shelf. I need to get rid of the two Yu Gi Oh volumes in there.
2/4
3/4
4/4
I know I don't need 4 images, I need to get better with my picture taking. It's hard with the lighting in the room
Nice collection, but jesus christ throw some frames around those posters
or just ditch the posters altogether desu
>106819788
>throw some frames around those posters
That's retarded
Damn, boy. There's some kind of trauma speaking there, isn't it?
The Lichman books look classy as FUCK.
I'll have to get a set soon.
Tell me about all that Crepax stuff.
do you not have a panorama photo option on your phone?
just start with Mark Russell's new series. It's only on issue 3
not that user, but Crepax was an comic artist in the 70s that was pushing the boundaries of what could be done in comics. He created Valentina who is his main character and was frequently put in fetish scenarios. But he did a lot with the medium to and did some things with panel layout that you wouldn't see for decades.. Some of it comes off clumsy reading down but even so I really enjoy it.
what's retarded about framing posters?
They'll look better and last longer.
They also might actually end up hanging straight instead of looking like they're just thrown up on the wall.
I just don't see why people spend so much time and money on their collection and shelves but don't want to go the little bit extra to finish and make it look put together.
I have one of the glow in the dark issues from this run
user, where do you think you are?
>tfw I bought the Icons versions of the JL members to complement my small collection last year
>tfw those cunts didn't bother releasing Shazam and Martian Manhunter in the same line
I'll never not be mad
What do I do if I want more stuff but don't have room in my place
>going to parties
find a new place, reduce your collection or make more room by getting bigger shelves
You should get them soon. They rock
Oh shit. I do. I just rarely use it. My bad.
Stack books in boxes.
What did he mean by this?
>re-release Beasts of Burden vol. 1 as a TPB
>release Wise Dogs and Eldritch Men only as a HC
>release vol. 2 only as a HC
Fucking why
These threads are Groundhog Day, 99% you fuckers all have the exact same collections
Here's some national comics for a change (plus MM&O)
Needs more Watchmen, Bone, Goon, and All Star Superman.
i think it's a mix of everyone buying the same damn comics, and there being 5 or so resident autists who've been posting the same pics for months on end
anyway here's wonderwall
Alright is that a book called “how to read naked”? Because my interest has been peaked.
lol
sadly it is not
Lol ya actually had them.
Yeah it does seem some people have repeating tastes. Me personally I still need to take pics of my last couple months stuff to post it.
Both of those make sense and you can't really blame people for it.
There are so many goddamn books I want that it's hard to mix it up and not get tunnel vision down one side of the industry; especially when you want to actually complete some series and not have a book or three from a bunch of them. I've been trying, though.
>El Largo Halloween
This is really, really funny.
lol I never realized, spanish being my native language, but it does sound funny
and I didnt even like All Star Superman
That's what the local library or bonfires are for.
It's what I plan to do with the bunch of Tim Yates trades I took off the hands of my LCS when they were about to throw them all away.
Eh, it's popular enough that he should be able to sell it.
>i think it's a mix of everyone buying the same damn comics
This is encouraged in /shelf/ and if you don't like it you can fuck right off.
In an industry about decades old, it's mainly just a case of looking into consensus before buying and going for the best runs that are out there, for a lot of people. There's nothing to prove by buying, or not buying, whatever size of company. Among mainstream stuff there's a decent amount of range on shelves here, not everyone having the exact same runs tho.
I have a little bit of creator owned but it's hard for me to find something interesting enough to buy, personally. Plus, the constant publish-for-tv-show puts me off some of it
>he doesn't enjoy a nice Illustrated Screenplay
lmao ok nerd with your "real comics"
This desu. Books are supposed to have words in them.
You two both misunderstood somehow.
>Comic adaptations of movies/screenplays/tv shows
Can be cool. Ofc books have words. My issue is shit like the Image solicits months ago that had
>Soon to be adapted by FX!
In half the solicits. I like different shit in the medium but feel using it as a springboard to *get* adaptations can lead to bland comics sometimes.
I definitely didn't misunderstand and was joking.
Excuse my autism then
Bless you.
Collecting hobbies all end up the same way
1. People collect everything in a category they find interesting
2. They show other people who also like the thing.
3. Everyone figures out that most of their stuff is a common example of the thing, but some of the stuff is rarer
4. Some autist figures out exactly what things are rare and what things are common
5. Instead of bragging about or showing off the cool common thing they have, people start bragging about or showing off the rare thing they found a bargain on (showing how smart they are) or paid a lot of money for (showing how rich they are).
6. In hobby discussion spaces, longtime collectors learn how to distinguish between two types of newcomers to the hobby, newbies who are at stage 2 but are able to progress to stage 5, and n00bs who start at stage 2 but are too dumb to realize that nothing they ever say will be interesting or useful.
7. By excluding the n00bs who have no hope of contributing meaningfully but welcoming the newbies who can, the hobby can perpetuate itself by not catering to total retards who scare away normies at stage 1 who also like the thing.
Both of these are kind of true but also for comics in general. People don't tend to want their thing to be more widely bought because then they're not one of the people sharing what they like with others who buy similar things. They just want to talk about how they own things that the other people don't. That way, it's not mainstream.
Collecting hobbies dealing with man-made objects require new things to enter the market periodically so that the hobby doesn't die out. If some new obscure thing comes out alongside new common things, you can brag about owning the new obscure thing that you can say is rarer or better quality or whatever.
If there's a quality component to the hobby, a different cycle starts at 3 also
3. Everyone figures out that most of their things suck but some of their things are good
4. A consensus develops about what things suck and what things don't (tier lists)
5. People start collecting the things that're good instead of the things that suck
6. Creators stop putting out things that suck in the specific ways collectors determine because it doesn't sell.
7. The new things are better than the old things because they're closer to what collectors like.
We can learn a few lessons from this.
1. Ignore and exclude low-quality newcomers because they scare off normies
2. Don't exclude mid-quality normie newcomers because you can still sell things to them
3. Pay attention to and embrace high-quality newcomers because they can make important contributions about the things.
4. Pay money for things you like and creators will make more of it.
Newcomers are numbers we can use to our advantage, we must train them to buy good comics
PSA
>Savage Sword with the good cover is up on IST again right now.
I wouldn't call either cover for that bad, unlike the other omni. But thanks for the heads up. Just blind bought that after really aching for some sword n' sorcery, and the pages someone posted here the other thread really convinced me.
Anyone else getting the berserk hardcovers?
Some day.
You got fucked, order earlier next time.
>ordered mine December 22
>got it today
I've seen a few people on Yea Forums that complained about theirs getting delayed and they all ordered way later than I.
They should probably learn to count their stock and not tell me I'll have it on a certain day and then suddenly tell me that's not the case at noon on that same day. I wouldn't even be upset if that wasn't the case.
I'm not really interested, I saw the anime and it was pretty meh. I liked the part where they busted Griffith out of that fortress
Yeah they’re both okay, but I was too lazy for clarity.
Also, rate my shelf, please.
What are some comics with mary marvel?
Did you just come from the Shazam thread? Kek, just had some guy ask whether she was cute in the movie. She was fine as fuark
yes, please. I heard Monster Society of Evil recommended here before, but I don't know if she was in it
I'm pretty certain she's in that one. Don't know any story however that specifically focuses on her
Are there any other that have her? Don't necessarily have to be the main focus
I was just checking whether Multiversity was worth a read. Apparently, she's there too. You should just pick up the New 52 run because that one has her in it as well
Question though, should I get a paperback of Multiversity or settle for the Deluxe? How's the binding and gutter loss in the Deluxe Edition?
Personally I would start with the She-Devil with a Sword series (pic related). Dynamite has collected it in softcover omnibuses. You could also read the original Marvel series but the Dynamite collection has a terrible recoloring. There's also the Gail Simone run, I haven't read it but I heard she messes around with the origin story.
I got a new shelf so I'm rearranging. Just need a little more to finish a dedicated Morrison shelf. DC better finish the deluxe Animal Man series ffs
Based and varied-pilled. You've got manga, big two, indies, and webcomics.
love the Steve Lichman
Multiversity is fantastic, even if you just kind of read through the crisis insanity. The Thunderworld issue is the one with the Marvel family and it's fantastic. I got the paperback but wish that I'd have gotten the deluxe edition to make my collection better Can't speak to the gutter loss but I like deluxe better for the size.
Is Thunderworld just one issue or a tpb
One issue. Everything in Multiversity are one-shots.
Is Monster Society, Multiversity, and Thunderworld all the stuff he has?
No, and Thunderworld is an issue within Multiversity. Kingdom Come is an elseworlds story but it also features him prominently if you want to try it.
I'm interested in both but I don't want to spend that much in an omnibus ;_;
based and science-pilled
>I'm interested in both but I don't want to spend that much in an omnibus ;_;
It's not like Busiek's stuff is bad, it's just not as good. If you don't want to buy the omnibus then don't.
