she's easily the best in the show. my favorite moment was in the episode "pearl hates the irish" when she came running up a hill really sweaty and salty, drenched from to toe, as if she were taking a gravelly, pacific ocean-esque shower under a lactating cow's udder. The way her scaly, lime green skin seem to open up when that archaic oil lamp floating among the cosmos basked his egalitarian electrical currents onto every serf below for free. It was during that solar flare, Peridot expanded her jagged neck during her bihourly warming session and slowly drove her injected human lips, that allow her to commune with humans, towards your lips. Driving her tongue down your naked body, she slowly descended upon your frothing hypercock, ready to be serviced. Like a python to her pray, Peridot began to suffocate your cock, shaking as if it were a boiler about to bust while your pre-cum steams out. It was at that moment that you realized Peridot was sucking your dick.

Well, if you're curious about this, allow me to digress. I'm a queer woman. I'm not interested in men romantically at all. Recently, a man wrote me an introductory message claiming that he understood I am only looking for friends, and I told him that was great. He then followed up with another message, which I evidently did not answer fast enough, because within a couple of hours he had sent nine more communications--most of which were about how I probably was not talking to him because he is not rich, does not have a nice enough car, and does not have a muscular body. When I got around to writing him back, I basically said wtfbbq are you literally suggesting I expect my friends to look a certain way and spend money on me? He insisted that yes, women always do this, even if they only want friends, and went on to explain to me that women are "shallow" and he had been dumped once for having a shitty car and now he has a better car. When he began to send me details of his car and told me he is not rich but can afford to take me out to nice restaurants a few times a year, I gave up. This man was having a conversation with someone who wasn't me. An imaginary one, in his head.
Nathan Brooks
(It sounds so absurd, like it couldn't have happened because no one's like that, but I assure you. This happened to me within the last month. Ended up just blocking the dude.)
Justin Cox
My point is that this man had already decided there are qualities women value, no matter what they actually SAY they personally want, and he has done his best to get the closest he can to these ideals. He has independently decided that these are valuable traits, and he has independently decided DESPITE MY EXPLICIT STATEMENTS TO THE CONTRARY that I, as a woman, am judging men according to his imagined ideals. Even for friendships. Guys like that, who decide women need dudes to have a cool car, are going to rage when they put out no small effort to upgrade their car and the lady still doesn't want them because, for instance, they're weird judgy pricks themselves.
John Gomez
Dewey in this situation has tried to puff himself up and be impressive to Pearl ("You know, I WROTE this play...."), but beyond repeatedly dashing in the wrong direction and saying the wrong thing to make himself look cool (instead of listening to what others say they want), you're right, he's not exactly a huge jerk or anything. He decided it would be impressive to Pearl that he wrote the play (even though she thought the play was crap until she rewrote it for him). He decided the band would love it if he came out dressed as a ghost, or that the audience would like his participation if he barged into an in-progress improv scene without any clue of what was already set up and said something "funny" on the spot. He thought those things would earn him attention and respect. He never asked how those people would want him to participate, or if they wanted his input at all.
Jose Gray
Damn, that’s pretty messed up. How fucked up for that guy to pull that shit on you
Wyatt Edwards
Yep, he wasn't a great mayor. Yep, he's kind of a dope. He tries to be cool because he wants to be liked. A lot of the problems in this conversation lie with the original commenter, who projected onto Dewey ideas for what he should do to deserve the affection he wants. Dewey himself is just kind of bumbling and clueless, and yeah, he's not a bad person. I like him where he is, enjoying his daily contact with the citizens of Beach City without the pressures of being mayor.
-/u/love-takes-work
Ryder Wilson
He’s quoting a redditor user.
Evan Rodriguez
The guy she's talking about sounds like a lunatic. I think the weird dude in the thread is just really young though. It's kind of childish way of thinking about women, doing something heroic and getting kisses.
Xavier Carter
Guess that message can be for that redditor
Christian Ortiz
For the record, Pearl's appeared either oblivious to Dewey's affections (ref: "Political Power") or explicitly uninterested in Dewey (ref: "Historical Friction"). Notice how in that last Dewey asks to sit next to Pearl and she grudgingly accepts his presence, but then when he begins trying to talk to her about how he wrote the play they're about to watch, she just gets up and changes her seat. Later, when he thanks her for helping preserve his legacy, she pats him on the head in an awkward gesture and pointedly refers to their interaction as being "between FRIENDS."
Luke Scott
Which makes it worse if you think about it.
They’re berating a kid for having a kid’s idea of what romance is.
And yes is young. Like 15 the max.
Austin Carter
All jokes aside, wishing the narrative would give Dewey an opportunity to impress Pearl and deserve a token of her gratitude (specifically, that she'll just be forced by circumstance to reward him with a kiss) just seems weird when she's made it clear she's utterly uninterested in him. Dewey displays this pattern of not understanding that he can't just do the dance and earn the points with most people, though--he painfully tries to be cool while expressing the need to "gank that youth vote, boyyyy!" ("Shirt Club"); wanders around trying to be included in tennis, improv theatre, his son's band performances, and planning meetings for the town after Nanefua's taken over as mayor ("Letters to Lars"), and seems despondent when his old bodyguards are jamming with Nanefua instead ("Reunited"). It's easy to sympathize with him because hey, everyone probably knows what it's like to be left out of something you want to be included in and nothing you do is right. But, as Dewey shows several times in "Letters to Lars," repeatedly doing things you think others want without checking what they'd actually appreciate just mostly results in people wanting you to go away.

Guys like Dewey, in their relationships with women, tend to decide independently what their own definition of a good guy is. A good man does this, is this, has this, offers this. And then he does those things and seems baffled that the women he approaches aren't interested. It's mainly because he's decided--without asking the other person--that he is what they must want, what he's "logically" determined to be what they should want. But women should want me to do this and be this and have this! What's wrong, anyway? Why aren't they responding correctly?

I agree. If he takes their advice he'll be way ahead of the game relationship wise. Go up to that girl you want to date, find out what they're looking for in a guy and then become that person. If you don't want to or can't, then move on with your life and find another girl. If I had learned that when I was 14 I would have saved myself years of misery chasing women I didn't even like once I got to know them.
Samuel Powell
Because you didn't ask THEM. You didn't ask the person you supposedly want a relationship with. You didn't behave as if their desires are as relevant as yours.

Sometimes, probably pretty rarely, there are things men can do to become what their desired partner wants. But usually? It's not in their control. In the case of Pearl and Dewey, it's a stretch for her to even be interested in a human at all. So far, what we know about Pearl is that she's only even considered such things with women, and has been dismissive of Dewey's propositions. And frankly, the idea that women should always be open to giving positive responses to male attention is gross; people even sometimes apply this expectation to women who already have boyfriends/husbands, don't have partners but don't want one right now, aren't attracted to the available/offering parties, or are literally lesbians. In general women are treated like they have to have a good reason NOT to politely accept and feel flattered, but even when they DO have a reason, it's frequently treated as irrelevant. The male attraction is what matters. The male attraction should be carefully handled, humored if possible, and tenderly turned down with focus on letting him down easy if rejection is necessary. The woman's own interest or lack thereof isn't treated like it's ever an acceptable "reason." She's still supposed to provide opportunities to proposition her and keep her mind open.
Ryan Cook
Yeah, but nothing pisses women off like asking what they want. Except assuming to know what they want.
It occurs to me that I might be overthinking this.

I don't want to dogpile too much but it's still amazing to me that "she still might!" is something people will say about a character who literally hasn't shown interest in men in over 6,000 years. Granted, most of that was when she was interested in a specific person, but since branching out, all her interest (and all the numbers she got) seemed to be focused on lady and ladyish humans. This Crew knows what it's doing when it shows her tendencies to us. It's not an accident that the numbers she's gotten had traditionally feminine names on them or even lipstick kisses.

Doubly so if the woman is a lesbian.

Oh...I get it. Some months ago in a podcast several crew members including everybody who has written an episode with Pearl's plot in it explained Mystery Girl was not going to come back, never and it was never the plan for the character.
The character was like backpedaling Pearl's plot anyway
Cameron Robinson
The hints began in the episode 20 in the first season so it has taken a long time.
And Mystery Girl was created by Lauren Zuke, the woman was fired cause she was pushing Lapidot and Amedot when her boss aka Rebecca Sugar or Ian told her it was not going to be canon and they didn't want those ships canon
Jayden Gomez
Noah Hill
Nicholas Edwards
>It wasn't that Zuke was pushing a "ship" that they didn't approve of.
False. They didn't want those ships canon, it wasn't the plan but Zuke insisted with it even changing the meaning or focus of some episodes.
If there's an episode with Amedot it was written by Lauren Zuke, if there was an episode with Lapidot it was written by Lauren Zuke, Zuke herself said she was alone and nobody else in the crew wanted those ships

Literally every single gem and Connie.
I also ship every single gem with Greg and Connie.
Honestly in my ideal scenario, Greg introduced the concept of sex to all 4 of the crystal gems early on. They of course became infatuated with it and went on to fucking humans and each other nonstop since sex to them is just another wierd human thing it doesn't really carry the same implications that it does when humans bang each other. No STDs, no pregnancy etc so they just do it without worrying.
Amethyst definitely took Stevens virginity at a very early age
Robert Anderson
>not posting adult Pink Connie
Robert Evans
They don't exist, there aren't episodes for Lapidot without Zuke
Elijah Moore
Zuke left because she wanted to push gay representation farther than the network was comfortable with. She wrote both Amidot and Lapidot episodes, but was upset that she couldn't make it more explicit. It had nothing to do with the crew disapproving her "ships". Sugar signed off on the episodes and the entire crew worked on the episodes. Sugar encourages shipping, as you can see in her first AMA on Reddit. It doesn't make any sense that she would fire someone for making ship-bait episodes.
Noah Torres
When Zuke writes Amethyst she's an annoying person and selfish like when she felt jealous of Steven
Blake Cooper
>Zuke left because she wanted to push gay representation farther than the network was comfortable with
No, she was fired cause she didn't do what her boss Sugar said and the crew didn't give a damn about her quest and queer stuff
Cameron Davis
Isn’t Sugar always pushing queerstuff?
Kevin Miller
Is this a JoJo reference?
Levi Morgan
Zuke repeatedly said that she left, and her mental condition was so fucking unstable towards the end of her run that I really wouldn't be surprised if she just walked out. She fucking missed seeing a relative in the hospital to draw some storyboards for her "important message" and was abusing her girlfriend at the time.
Jaxon Nguyen
They seemed to be getting along just fine after reforming
Henry Clark
>I also ship every single gem with Greg and Connie
ConnieDot is a very high-quality ship, user. Good on you.
Brayden Stewart
This is probably the most realistic answer so of course no one will believe it.
Dominic Phillips
you must be new and we have news for you. Sugar isn't so interested in LGBT things really but it's about what the network wants to push in their shows so Sugar is more a public face, she isn't lesbian or bi or something like that, she's straight and married to Ian, they have been together for 10 years now
Nathaniel White
Of course when your boss is angry at you cause you didn't obey you leave
Dylan Reyes
Bi people can marry men too.
Kevin Kelly
That's why the suggestion that she was fired for her ships is so absurd. The entire climax of the show is the kiss in Reunited. In the official podcast, Sugar says that the song "Change Your Mind" was written about her struggle to make this scene happen and how hard it was to convince the network to go with it. Zuke didn't get that and kept wanting to put in things that the network wouldn't approve of, which makes sense if you think about how hard Sugar worked to make a rather innocent kiss happen.
Connor Hughes
It just occurred to me; Sugar would hate working with Sabrina Cotugno for these exact reasons.
Aaron Diaz
She was crazy if she thought she was going to go against the plans for a show she didn't create in first place and she was really sabotaging the characters and their real stories
Sebastian Sullivan
Her usual story isn't about gays or something, the story she loves to tell is about a princess meet a boy who is gonna to rescue her. Look for Transylvania Hotel, the same happened with Flame Princess and Finn, Sugar shipped Marceline and Finn too and all those ships had the same dynamics. Hunson=FP's father
Mason Perez
I mean the show is fun but it kinda sucks, so I can't agree that it ruined the characters, since the crew obviously had no idea where any of them were going anyway. All of Zuke's episodes were ship-bait, but like I said earlier that was all part of Sugar's design and it would have never gotten through if Sugar and the crew didn't approve it. The idea that she "forced" ships into episodes ignores the entire process involved in making a cartoon and how impossible it would be to secretly insert something like that into an episode that takes 9 months to make.
Nathan Ramirez
*meets
Jose Russell
Read it, there Zuke said nobody in the crew supported her. Sugar said No and nobody else wanted those queer ships
Jeremiah Williams
Good, it's not her show and she shouldn't have final say in major character development
Jayden Perez
Getting along and being attracted each other are different things
Oliver Garcia
>Connie and Peridot fighting over Steven and ending up making out
Kevin Baker
It ruined the characters cause the crew had plans for them and Zuke knew, Zuke even took foreshadowing from other ships or future developments and used it in her episodes hinting her ships that weren't going to happen
Colton Torres
>"I don't want people have to sit down and put together puzzle pieces to see if they were represented. Not in this day and age. That game is so tiring."
Notice how she says "if they were represented". She's not talking about shippers being represented, she's talking about gay people being represented. She wanted the relationships to be more obviously gay than what the network would allow. There's nothing there about the crew opposing her ships, just opposing making it obvious that gay people were being represented since it was such a struggle to get even mild gay representation approved by the network. She wanted to go too far too soon.
Caleb Gonzalez
Canon gay relationships in Steven Universe don't exist properly
Zuke's famous words for Lapidot were "It was uprooted and destroyed" it isn't that Lapidot shouldn't be more obvious it is that Lapidot shouldn't exist at all. SU could have some "moments" of pandering for LGBTs but the real plot or characters didn't have those relationships
Amedot uprooted
Lapidot Uprooted and destroyed
Japis Sunk
PearlMG uprooted and destroyed
GarnetPearl it never existed despite the weird triangle with Amethyst in a Cry for help

Brayden Reyes

The gay matter was not part of Steven Universe until CN noticed the merchandize wasn't selling well. It's a marketing strategy media has been using in recent years. You can look for "Marvel Diversity" all the characters like Iron-Man and Spider-Man were replaced by gays or black people
Xavier Barnes
>It was uprooted
this will never not be funny
Zachary King
all of them
Camden Sullivan
I don't disagree with you at all. My point was that it wasn't that the crew were crazy anti-Lapidot shippers, it's that they didn't want any real gay representation at all. The idea that the "ship" was opposed is nonsense. ALL gay ships were opposed because the network was fine with the hand-waving that Sugar employed, but wouldn't let ANY explicit gay relationships exist in the show.
Christian Gomez
It was so cowardly when she proclaimed that the Gems aren't women, they're mono-gendered aliens outside of human concepts like male and female.
I guess kids are supposed to keep that in mind while the Gems look like women, sound like women, and refer to themselves in feminine ways.
Austin Brown

The gay hints, relationships or implications, the whole gay aspect of the show wasn't something Sugar or anybody else in the crew wanted in first place but something the network decided. If the crew had more freedom the episode Mr Greg would have been about Greg and Pearl in a romantic relationship.
Here the original scene was changed to put Rose-Pearl in that episode

I don't think so. It was about what was convenient, what the network wanted to do, Sugar is an employee and if your boss is asking for a certain character included in something or a certain relationship for marketing you have to do it
>they changed that because of an awareness of how the angry gay rep crowd would react
Nope, there's going to be Greg/Pearl as a couple in the future, they have been hinting it a lot lately. I think CN is more intrested in the gay aspect of SU than the crew or Sugar. Greg/Pearl was the original story from the beginning.
>But Rebecca is bisexual
Nope, she's a public face for propaganda and her show was not about gay bullshit really, it became like that after for marketing

And I never said that it was, only that it was something that they can use to try and sell merchandise to the demographic that THINKS it's one. But the joke's on them, the ones that believe it is don't actually have any money to spend.

Not much, frankly. People are coming around to realizing that most of those things are just industry awards and not worth half the acclaim. Even the Oscars are starting to get that reputation as being pointless and dated. I mean, the plumbing industry and the steel industry have similar award ceremonies, but it's not like the news showers attention on them .
Aiden Martinez
I actually kind of like the Garnet pin, it has a mildly more clever design than just a pin of the rainbow flag by itself. If you're going toe express your views by way of pins, be effay about it.
Tyler Cooper
Guess people can now say the GLAAD Awards are right up there’s with the Emmys and Oscars
Tyler Fisher
This years Oscars lost all credibility that Oscar for Best Actress had a name on it already and she didn't get it. The Oscar for the best Film should have been for "The Wife" cause the film was better from the artistic point of view but the characters were too white and hetero

I keep Steven's ships to him being with Connie, and that's about it. I can see him and Kevin eventually reconciling and being buddies, but not boyfriends, and Lars is too into Sadie (and Steven would respect that) for him to get with either of them. The Gems are still too much like motherly figures or sisters, or grandmas in the Diamonds' cases. I'm not saying that they wouldn't somehow work, but Steven x Connie already works so well that it doesn't feel right to go with anything else.
Easton Scott
A fucking grave because seeing this gross, ugly, manlet Jew reminds me that this is what the wannabe-female-overlords want to turn every male character into: an incompetent, whiny, constantly crying and cowardly failure of a fucking man.

peribot is the best character in the show and is the best thing to come out of it clearly steven deserves the best

Space Race was the first clear hint to GregPearl as a future couple. The picture here was a paralelism for them. Greg's uncle and aunt worked together building up planes
>They had a great love for aviation and each other
Pearl and Greg were building a spaceship in that episode and the sequel for this episode was at some degree "Reformed"
Xavier Flores
Reformed is an interesting episode cause it's a combination of sequel for Maximum Capacity, SpaceRace and something new at the same time.
Amethyst has a curious relationship with Greg, in Maximum capacity she felt jealus of Rose and Steven himself cause Greg spent time with them
>Greg: I can't stay here and humor you. I have to be there for my son.
>Amethyst: I bet you'd stay for her.
In Reformed Amethyst is kind of depressed and again she used shapeshifting Pearl this time, the person was spending time with Greg
>Pearl! Pearl! Pearl! I'm sorry I'm not like Pearl with her fancy form
This episode is the reason why Mr Greg doesn't make sense as well. There wasn't a conflic between Greg and Pearl cause Pearl spended time with Greg cause she wanted in season 2
Wyatt Fisher
Then we have the story in the episode 27 House Guest that did have a small sequel in the second season
Cameron Reed
Then the Zoo in Season 4 had a parallelism with Mr Greg

People wondered for a while why Greg's color in Mr Greg was yellow, why yellow and blue and then in CYM we got an answer
>Poor Yellow. Her impurities absorb all the blue in her light. She's so strong... but so weak when it comes to Blue.
>Ah, and Blue -- her impurities soak up all of the warmth in her SPECTRUM (The RED). She thinks she needs you, Pink. As for me, I'm certain I don't need you. I'm every color of the light
Thanks to those lines we undertand in Steven Universe the spectrum of light is important. According to the spectrum of light Yellow + Blue = White, not green like when you mix paint. In Steven Universe the closest person to you in somebody creates white with you.
Nicholas Peterson
Man, Kevin's sexy as shit.
Carson Flores
there in CYM Saddie dyed her hair in green the color this pink boy needed to get White
Pink + Green = White
In this color wheel you can see more clearly opposed colors get you white
Jose Butler
When are Sadie and Lars gonna fuck?
Jacob Allen
The color wheel is read like this
R, G, B means Red, Green, Blue
(Red, Green, Blue), 255 is the maximum aka completely red, green or blue
Yellow = 255 (red), 255 (green), 0 (blue)
Blue =0 (red), 0 (green), 255 (blue)
White = 255 (red), 255 (green), 255 (blue)
Greg + Pearl = White
It's confirmed by White Diamond
>Blue's impurities soak up all the Warmth in HER SPECTRUM
Blue materials reflect a part of the white light and absorb the red part of it (though green light as well). That's the mechanism makes them blue. Perfection is White, something reflects the white light
And Yellow is weak when it comes to blue cause Blue is the color her imperfections absorb, what she needs to be perfect aka to reflect pure white.
Camden Johnson
I respect this ship
Leo Clark
Must you always post these?
Jayden Jackson
Lauren Zuke tried to force that combination gets you White making Peridot Yellow, that way her retard ship could be white, perfect. It shows Zuke knew there was a rule for the characters were in relationships
Zuke shipped some ships at that time but she followed the spectrum rule forcing things:
Lapidot (blue, yellow) --Foreshadowing in Camp Pining hearts sometimes
Jaspis (a kind of blue, orange)
Amedot (the only episodes where Amedot ocurred were written by Zuke) and you can see clearly Yellow linked to purple and blue
Garnet is alone cause it's a ship that by chance could be perfect if in a fusion with something green ( Zuke wrote that episode where Garnet almost fused with Peridot)
Pearl-Amethyst, Pearl became a kind of green to fit in the spectrum as the opposite to Amethyst
Henry Flores
