Characters. Some of them have really strong arcs like Pearl, and some have good redemption moments like Peridot. Amethyst never reached a finale in her character but she grew up a little everytime.
Music, not just the songs but the OST was pretty great. The way every character has an instrument is pretty cool.
The themes are pretty good, but it's a shame that the writers weren't as skilled. The weird last episode trans metaphor wasn't great either because it was something completely new after giving us the idea that Steven and Rose are different people, mother and son, and not a person who transitioned and has a deadname. Mob Psycho does a better job with the pacifist hero theme.

What surprises me are the ships; you'd think Steven and Connie being a couple with no real competition to distract them from each other and other characters just didn't have much focus on each other beyond Peripis.

the first two seasons and a handful of episodes after that are good, but the show lost its way overall after Log Date and Gem Drill was a pretty clear-cut "jump the shark" moment

Periot ending the video call screaming the gem equivalent of Nigerian to her supreme leader was basically the beginnings of how the writers were going to handle closing out story arcs from then on. Sloppily and not entirely satisfying.

You may not like it and admittedly some of it was hamfisted, but its a step in the right direction for more nuanced and complex writing for cartoons.

I'm glad it's almost over and with it the end of an era of animation judging by the newer sh it getting picked up. It seems like it's only going downhill from here so fuck it, I'm gonna work on my show and throw my hat in the ring. If some of this shit can get picked up I'm sure I can.
