I was thinking. What if that little "Janna splits her soul in half" gag at the end of the episode was actually foreshadowing? I feel so sorry for Tom. I know he was a bit of an asshole at first but he had a genuine problem that he worked hard to solve, and actually managed to do so, and now he's really patient, really understanding, to an absolute fault.
Not only that, he's still "atoning" for his mistakes a whole year later, and has felt bad about them all this time, just because he thought Star knew, but she didn't.
Overall he's really just doing his best and trying and Star keeps getting mad at him for the silliest things (really? he was just stretching? what the fuck star), and she's been using him all this time to try to get over her feelings for Marco which we know will be endgame. In all of this he'll come out cucked, heartbroken, and used.

Well the whole thing with Kelly is OPENLY just the two of them trying to distract themselves from their feelings for other people. Marco from Star, because he "knows" they can't be together, and Kelly from Tad, because even though he's a toxic piece of shit she hasn't been able to make herself stop loving him on some level.

It's POSSIBLE that something like this could still lead to a meaningful relationship down the road, but the odds are not in their favor.

Back when this show was just 2 seasons plus Battle for Mewni and the Starco stuff was really only just happening, my friend and I talked about the Blood Moon stuff. Star and Marco's conversation in this episode was almost word-for-word what we thought would be the best course of action: "If our lives are getting fucked over by some curse, then let's find a way to break it."

Pretty cool that they actually went that route, but we're still yet to see if anything will come of the supposed breaking of the curse. Marco and Kelly were cute this week, so I half hope that they become canon, but Kelly seems too wishy washy about Tad for that kind of development to happen. Star and Tom haven't ever meshed well for very long (Lava Lake Beach was their best episode), so unfortunately their relationship was doomed from the start. No curse made Star so rude to him so frequently. Tom's been unironically great for a while, so I just want him to move on from her and find someone who appreciates him.

Some actual plot developments would be nice, too.

I think in the show they're trying to go for her being closer to 16 through sort of cheating about her age through Stump Day. They said in the episode she doesn't celebrate her birthday on her actual day of birth, and since Stump Day seems to be around Christmas (probably paralleling Eden Sher's actual birthday), S3 also said she arrived on Earth in August. So maybe they typically celebrate her birthday around 6 months from Stump Day?

Either way, since Stump Day was supposedly her 15th birthday, Star would've "really" been about 13 and a half for like all of the first season. Then Stump Day happened sometime offscreen for her actual 14th birthday, then in S3 she turned 15, then an unknown amount of time passed from that episode to the present day but as far as we know she's not 16 yet.

Yeah, it clearly wasn't what they had in mind in the first season but seems to be what they're going for now. I think the spellbook had Crescenta get the wand at like 12 so apparently even in the lore the exact date you can get it is a bit flexible even if it's typically 14.

Also yeah I'm assuming they celebrate her birthday six months early instead of late, but assuming it's late then she is 16 and Marco got her age wrong.

What's different about kellco is that it was literally died on arrival.

Eclipsa just wins no matter what she does, because either she wins or it doesn't affect things much if she loses.

Marco goes to Kelly's house. They have actually a great time together and reveal to each other that they like one another.

Blood Moon ep:
Marco starts off episode being bothered by finding everything Star does 'adorable'/perfect, and wants to get over his infatuation with her.

He decides the only way to solve it is to confess to her. Tom is in the room and doesn't get angry. He explains that they like each other because of the Blood Moon curse from, you know, that episode. the moon chose them and bound their souls together.

So they go to break the curse. It's unclear if the ritual actually worked, but at the end of it Marco and Star claim they no longer have feelings for each other. However, there's the general feeling that it's just cliffhangering it and they'll end up together later.
