So this movie went out of it's way to remind people of the DCAU. It used the character designs, voice actors and even the same music compositions but I did notice that Brainiac 5 looked noticeably different. That made me go back and watch the one JLU episode to feature the Legion and the Fatal Five to see if it fits in with contonuity.
It... Sort of does? At the end of the JLU episode, Green Arrow and Green Lantern are never explicitly stated to have given the full story of what happened (though it's implied). And in the movie, it's never explicitly stated if the League knew about the Legion (though it's implied they don't). Beyond some differences in character design, there aren't many directly noticable differences. It's more that there are weird things in regards to continuity, rather than contradictions. Like, why is Supergirl never brought up? Or why does the Fatal Five appear to have a different group dynamic?
See this is my issue too. How are they not familiar with The Fatal Five or LoSH at all? You would think Oliver and John would give a full debriefing of those events, especially since Kara is no longer coming back. Alt timeline? Well at least Jessica Cruz is getting some exposure. She's one of the few new characters that has worked in the past few years, like Kenan Kong
>doesn't fit Who cares? None of this shit fits or is meant to be in continuity outside of their shittily animated New 52 design movies.
Blake Gomez
you are mentally ill, starboy got a good sendoff
also i dont read DC, is the comic starboy anything like this animated version?
Luis Johnson
>Who cares? Well, when they literally go out of their way to get the same actors, character designer and music...
Nicholas Watson
I wanted to see him get more screentime. It probably would have helped to have fewer characters so that the ones they used would have gotten more development.
Eli Wood
>They're killing or obscuring all white males! >Superman and Batman are right there.
Nathan Reed
Hot
Eli Rogers
>Like, why is Supergirl never brought up? From what I understand, this was supposed to launch into a spin-off show that never ended up happening. As such, they kind of just swept it under the rug. I'm not surprised they're ignoring it. However, at the same time, Starboy's memories and the movie prologue could be from a point before Supergirl arrived in the future. This could easily explain why she wasn't there.
>Same actors, character design, and music It wasn't just that. The movie also used the Metro Tower and the Javelins. The Metro Tower in particular included settings that were almost if not exact matches to rooms from JLU's Metro Tower. Then there were the call-outs to the characters that didn't appear that someone familiar with the DCAU might expect to see. Jess told Diana that if she needed help, she should call John, and Diana said she couldn't because he was on Rann with the other Lanterns. This was done to establish why Jess was there instead of the usual Green Lantern, John. Alone, maybe not a big deal, but they do the same thing with Hawkgirl, and she has abso-fucking-lutely nothing to do with this movie. They were telling you why these characters who would normally be there weren't this time. For what it's worth, they also bring up the mace. Nth Metal being anti-magic is unique to the DCAU continuity. It doesn't behave like that anywhere else.
I know Yea Forums doesn't read comics, but do you guys seriously not know what a retcon is?
i bailed on it in like five minutes. wonder woman fighting jessica to make her use her ring seemed really off to me and i didn't dig miss martian's intro. plus batman immediately finding starman was way to easy. maybe i'll try it later.
Jose Cook
I hope they bring in more character from YJ
Liam Taylor
I did too. Too bad he did nothing, got cheerleader sidelined, died, and will never be seen again.
Hudson Taylor
Starboy was best boy
Xavier Foster
>Star Boy never got to become Star Man >Never got to reunite with Dream Girl >Never got to be a member of the Justice Society and hang out with PG, Flash, Wildcat and GL I can't hold those feelings
Black Lightning, Halo, Artemis. Red Arrow, Kid Flash
Julian Gomez
It was the most watchable of these DTV movies in a while. I just wish that the return of the DCAU would have had something bigger than the Legion show up.
Kayden White
The movie just kind of skipped the climax of the main character's arc.
She loses badly then wakes up, says her oath, and now she's got an eye thing and she's super buff because reasons
There needed to be more exploration of her phobia, she never really seemed scared or panicky, she didn't have a realization, it just felt tacked on and incomplete
Jack Butler
A hero with a mental disorder like Starboy sounds interesting. Is there any current renditions of him like in the movie or is all that is left of him just this Earth Prime one who from the wiki seems uninteresting and black for some reason?
>Little is known about Star Boy, other than that he has bad luck and is allergic to sugar (as are all Xanthuans). He is more competent than he gives himself credit for. He was recruited to the Legion of Super-Heroes by Cosmic Boy. He has participated in two undocumented cases, Fusionstrike and a mission on Rokyn (about a week before Orando was destroyed).
The Pre Zero Hour version of him seems pretty cool though. It's a shame this version was killed off, they were cute together.
Thanks for making me lost interest on this movie, not even "Batman:Harley Quinn" show Harley naked butt since she's still wearing underwear...But a naked man is no problem? Fuck this shit.
Probably will, but not for some time considering Sunset is focusing on fleshing out characters. New build soon, focusing on Artemis, Chesire, and Talia, and the next few builds in the coming months will focus on Batgirl, Vixen, and Supergirl.
Leo Foster
I would like the core seven on the next movie
Jeremiah Thompson
This was the first time in a long time that I found Ms. Martian likable.
Benjamin Nguyen
I appreciate that they gave Jess a new codename, which is way cooler than Green Lantern 7.
I also thought it was cool that they gave Mano the Sinestro Corps Symbol since he's from an anti-matter world (i.e. Qward). It's the little things.
Also they name dropped the Rann/Thanagar war like 3 or 4 times in the move, so I guess we'll have that to look forward to in 2020, right?
Transcribed for those allergic to YouTube: >Interviewer: Is this in continuity with JLU or is it just sort of similar? >Timm: You know, it depends. It depends on who you talk to. If you ask me, I would say yes it is. I consider it to be in continuity. There's nothing in the movie--there's some...there's some weird things in the movie that people are gonna go, "Well, how can it be in continuity if this, this, and this?" But my answer is that it does not take place three days after the end of Justice League Unlimited. Probably takes place a year or three years after the Justice League Unlimited. >Interviewer: Even things that are in continuity don't always line up. >Timm: That's exactly right, but again, my out is that it takes place some time like a year or three years. Like I said, a lot can happen in a year or three years. So...so that's it.
Jace Nguyen
There are more interviews on that channel
Aaron Richardson
It wasn't bad but that animation! Geeze. Story is good.
Evan Miller
I hope the next movie has Shayera, John and Wally
Evan Price
I don't understand why this wasn't just a straight up LOSH movie.
Josiah Lewis
>The Green Fascist Corps >Interplanetary gulag Are there any stories where that is the Corps? It would be neat if Earth-3 or Earth-10 had it's own dark version of the Corps.
Noah Cooper
with Zatanna and Plastic Man
Landon Lopez
I just want more Constantine desu senpai. The guy that played him on the show of the same name and who is voicing him now is spot on perfect. Give me more Constantine, and a not shit Peej and I'll be throw money at the screen all fucking day.
So, the Legion shows up at the end with time machines and shit with no problem So why couldnt they, say, show up right as Starboy landed in the past, give him his meds, and help the League fight the 3 with no problem? You cant tell me that's not a gigantic plot hole
Aiden Bailey
>three years after JLU >in 3 years the dozens of heroes of the Justice League have been reduced to the trinity and Mister Terrific What the fuck happened? Also, where the fuck did Miss Martian come from? Just a random survivor from Martian Genocide 300 years ago?
Ian Jackson
>in 3 years the dozens of heroes of the Justice League have been reduced to the trinity and Mister Terrific How the hell did you come to this conclusion? Not only do they explicitly say that John and Shayera are still around and are just in space temporarily, but just because you don't see the others doesn't mean they aren't there. Look at the old JLU episodes. Very few had every character.
>Also, where the fuck did Miss Martian come from? This, though, is a good question. It was probably a retcon. I don't know why she was even in the movie. She didn't do anything.
Evan Allen
>I don't know why she was even in the movie. She didn't do anything. They probably have plans to push her in future movies or shows or whatever, so they include her in this one as a glorified extra to make her more of a recognizable face when she gets her spot in the limelight later.
Levi Morales
If we're talking the whole of the DCAU, pretty much all the Bat characters got multiple design changes and everything is still considered to be in the same universe.
Nathan Hall
During JLU most of the members were usually reacting to a couple of different simultaneous disasters around the globe and across the galaxy at any one time
J'onn had basically retired to bang a Chinese octogenarian John Stewart and most of the GL corps were dealing with a war on Rann Shayera somehow went back to Thanagar
Andrew Cox
It needs more Zatanna
Oliver Young
In my opinion it felt very rushed, and Starboy felt under used. In the promotional material, he, M'ghan and Jess were very hyped up, but I feel like we never really got enough time with any of them. Also, I love Jess, but God I really didn't enjoy what they did with her towards the end. A 7/10 I guess.
Joseph Richardson
As middle of the road as this movie was, I wish they would do more DCAU films instead of the Nu52 junk. Like a movie about the Near Apocalypse of '09, or something set soon after Epilogue.
Didn't they mention that they couldn't contact the others when they were on the way to fight the Five or something?
Hunter Williams
The Near Apocalypse of 09 would make a great standalone movie
Just a lot of depressing Ace tier bad ends as the JLU desperately tries to stop Ras
Dylan Green
Miss Martian has been adapted in both animation and live action multiples by now, she's not exactly a super obscure character.
Also they needed a telepath to confirm stuff about the 5 and whatnot and I guess the writers just wanted a Rookie instead of J'onn.
Grayson Sanders
I liked her relationship with Batman. She got on his nerves a lot, but he was still protective of her.
Gabriel Hall
Yeah that was great, reminded me of what they did with Kara and John in JLU, take two typically unrelated characters with really different personalities and do the mentor-mentee thing.
Luke Gomez
so many new threads.
Gavin Jones
The movie just came out. It will probably be like this for the next couple of days until people move onto the next thing.
Benjamin Anderson
Now you're learning Batman! So, after you're done with him, we've got one more stop to make...
So Hal and Guy existed as Lanterns somewhere offscreen for the entirety of DCAU continuity then I guess?
Aaron Moore
It's a big universe. They could have been on Oa or off somewhere taking care of Corps business.
Luke Collins
I think they haven't even become Lanterns yet, remember that's a Legion era shrine and Jess only talks about John.
Joseph Gonzalez
>The guy that played him on the show of the same name and who is voicing him now is spot on perfect. Same guy
Jayden Lopez
...
Levi Hill
Batwoman's side of the family, the Kanes, are canonically Jewish. Martha was a Kane. There's that whole "according to the Jews, you are one if your mom is one" thing.
But Bruce was raised WASP.
Samuel Lee
Yeah, it was pretty obnoxious how hard this was pushed. "You're like legendary" "You are totally legendary! Who even were those other lanterns??" "Oh my gosh, everyone in the future knows of JESSICA CRUZ!" Gag me with a fucking spoon, yikes. And of course she randomly beats the entire enemy team at the end lol, how can people defend this crap?
All of the Lanterns are retardly powerful, but instead of putting the others down, they should have shown us why Jessica in particular considered to be legendary. It would have been nice to have more character development with her though or to have more of an arc than "I'm depressed and agoraphobic" to "I'm fine now." It also would have helped to have more screentime for Starboy because his struggle with mental illness and trying to be a hero mirrored her own.
It felt like this script was an early draft that could have used a few more revisions.
It was nice that they got so many of the original VAs back (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Kilawog, etc.).
Camden Hall
Kyle and Hal were both in JLU. Not for much screen time, but they were both there.
James Green
Because it's not the 70's.
Luke Brown
If this does really well, maybe they'll consider making a LOSH movie and maybe pick up on what happened when Kara went to the future.
Austin Lee
Wonder Woman got some problems. Outed the secret identity of her teammate and generally ignorant of the issues Jessica had to deal with.
Jaxson Cooper
I want the next DCAU movie to introduce Shazam >Captain Marvel may have quit the Justice League but Shazam hasn’t joined!
I don't understand, what was his disorder ? Was he schizophrenic?
Wyatt Brooks
Mano made such a big deal about wanting to be reunited with the Empress. It was kind of weird that during the prison break scene, he let Validus out of his cell first even though the Empress's cell was actually closer.
Thomas Hughes
Yup. But a significantly higher grade space version of it.
Jeremiah Mitchell
He was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic at Arkham but the doctors said that the medications that they were giving him only kept him calm and didn't do anything to deal with his delusions. The medicine from the future that he was using was called Quatroclozapine. There's a real medicine called Clozapine that's used to treat symptoms of psychosis.
Levi Robinson
Can Mano even control his powers without the suit? From what was said, Mano can't physically touch the Empress.
Lincoln Phillips
He accidentally touches her in the movie and ends up burning half of her face off.
Jason Morales
He has control over his disintegration abilities in his right hand, but he has to stay in the environmental suit for his own protection because he can't tolerate the atmosphere of planets that aren't like his homeworld. It's kind of like how Mr. Freeze needs to stay in his cold suit or he won't survive very long.
Carter Cruz
Almost everything related to Jessica felt badly done and tacked on.
Michael Sanders
I liked her interactions with Starboy, but she needed more development.
Anthony Diaz
It was. Way better.
Joseph Hernandez
right, batwank and jobber superman
Parker Parker
>Shayera somehow went back to Thanagar I'd really like an explanation on this.
Samuel Jenkins
Was it rape?
Ryder Ortiz
It wasn't. It was as mediocre as the nu52
Jaxson Ross
Just finished it, it was awesome. Surprisingly bloody but I liked it. The amount Jessica gets pushed nowadays (DC Super Hero Girls is neat too) I'm getting interested in some reading material. Any suggestions? Also >be mentally ill >really empathize with anyone who can barely get up and leave home every day >first name is Thomas Muh feels
>Specially when it came to characterization What characterization? Jessica and Starboy were nu52 tier and Miss Martian was you typical Timm waifu good for nothing.
Isaiah Nguyen
John was probably with the rest of the lanterns in that Ran war I wonder if it was the Ran Thanagar war but no idea where Oliver was, probably doing some shit of his own.
Landon Hall
She's in JLO right now, but I'm not reading it so no clue if it's any good.
so did the fatal five die at the end ? did limelight kill them ?
Blake Evans
That was pretty brutal
Isaiah Wilson
movie was good, felt like a two parter from the actual series. My only complaint is that is really tiresome Bruce Timm keeps shoving Harley in everything when it doesn't have anything to do with the story.
Parker Mitchell
I haven't read up to date but the first couple of issues are great, though I know some people don't like Stephan Sejik's art, but its fine with me.
Sebastian Flores
Thanks but what is JLO. I'm a comiclet.
Gavin Nguyen
>So this movie went out of it's way to remind people of the DCAU. It used the character designs, voice actors and even the same music compositions I mean... is this your first time watching one of these? Almost all of them have been using the same creative team.
Daniel Bennett
why did Mano had a Sinestro corp logo in his costume anyway?
Jayden Wright
Justice League Odyssey.
Justin Hall
Justice League Odyssey
Dominic Smith
Thanks!
Elijah Parker
Starboy's arc alone was better developed and written than any entire DTV since they started adapting the shit that is the New 52.
Nathan Moore
Have you? It's the only one that uses the exact production designs of the DCAU.
Kayden Jenkins
the curse words are so forced
we get it timm, cartoonnetwork doesn't control you anymore, you don't have to act like a kid who swears when his parents aren't home
that's the opposite of being mature
Eli Torres
Worn as what?
Jayden Ward
Once again Yea Forums reveals itself to be a bunch of humorless fucks that can't appreciate fartnuggets.
Grayson Bennett
>Rann-Thanagar War You know, when Diana said John was fighting dominators on Rann, I assumed she meant the Dominators, as in the alien species with the big teeth. If this is actually the Rann-Thanagar War we have on our hands, then Timm wasn't exaggerating about a lot happening in three years. Thanagar would've had to have beaten back the Gordanians and then, within a few years, been strong enough to launch an invasion of Rann. Though if this is the case, did Shayera go to Thanagar to spy on them and feed information back to the Lanterns on Rann? Talk about a reversal.
Brandon Anderson
Did anyone else laugh when they used there time machines to go to his funeral. Instead of maybe saving his life or literally anything else
David Morgan
actually I completely didn't hear the dominators line, so I probably got the Rann - Thanagar reference out of my ass. But I guess it could happen.
Tyler Ross
probably because saving his life meant unfixing the sun, and considering Sun Eaters are a mayor threat in the Legion's time period, I'm guessing they haven't come up with ways to fix suns yet.
Nolan Howard
Earth-3 only had Power Ring which was a single entity and not representative of any Corps at large. Not sure what Earth-10 had
Kayden Jackson
Maybe but since its a time machine they can just go to any point before the sun required fixing
Isaac Gonzalez
Bros Wonder-bat is still Canon in DCAU r-right ? Tell me they didn't recon it
Maybe someone dying to fix the sun was a part of their history, a point in time that they couldn't change without altering the timeline
That's why Saturn Girl told him not to follow the Fatal Five, and why he lost most of his memories.
Ayden Garcia
Someone up thread said it's because he's from Qward which is related to the Anti-Matter universe (where Sinestro first got his ring)
Lucas Moore
>Wonder Woman's VA is saying that if the movie sells well there'll not only be confirmation of WonderBats That's...not what she said.
Nolan Hill
She's saying that if the movie sell, there'll be more animated movies taking place in the DCAU and "delicious Wondebat moments". Isn't that what all the shippers want?
Charles Ward
that makes sense
Jose Campbell
>It's the only one that uses the exact production designs of the DCAU. Oh really? Is that so??
She just wants the paycheck, she doesn't make the decision about who gets shipped with who.
Austin Ward
Big if true
Ian Williams
Not him, but Eisenberg is actually a crazy Wonderbat shipper. While true that she doesn't make the decisions, she does pester the shit out of Timm about it.
the way he was portrayed in the JSA during Thy Kingdom Come and the Legion tie in with final crisis made great use of him and his mental disorders as part of his character.
Jayden Wright
What point are you trying to make with this? Or are you just trying to get him on a technicality?
Daniel Parker
Only have a problem with the third act of this movie because I think they did it wrong. It should have been:
- Starboy takes out the Fatal Five
- Jessica saves the sun and ends up mixing the energy of the eye with her Green Lantern one. And that's how she gets the eye mark
Caleb Gonzalez
miracle machines man, the Legion can bring anyone back if they are needed.
Kyle was in because he was in STAS. I never questioned that one.
Hal's singular appearance on the show, however, was caused by alternate timeline shenanigans. He switched places with John. In fact, Kyle is the one whose origin involved getting Abin Sur's ring in that STAS episode.
Dominic Rivera
I didn't like it. Felt too dark (Jessica's trauma), unfocused, boring villains. I did like the Bruce Timm design and the old DCAU soundtrack.
Why was Harvey Dent such a bro to Thomas in Arkham?
Joshua Ross
It was doing ok until sjw crap began. Jessica is the sole inspiration, Jessica beats the crap out of the whole enemy team ALONE and without a ring recharge (unless the need of a small battery while doing the oath is not canon anymore). Supes is almost useless. But it was great to see Mr. Terrific getting some action.
Jonathan Ramirez
schizophrenics gotta stick together whether they like it or not
Andrew Fisher
How come people don’t bitch when Hal does the exact same thing in comics?
And Supes is always jobbing in this universe
Austin Rivera
OP stated that this movie strongly invoked the DCAU by using the exact same character designs, voice cast, and even some music compositions. You replied that they all do that. retorted that they don't. You then countered with Batman and Harley Quinn, which is ALSO allegedly DCAU. So you got him on a technicality. The other DCAU movie also uses DCAU stuff. The central point was that looks to be DCAU rather than DCAMU. If you'd shown a DCAMU movie that looked exactly like the DCAU, then you would've gotten him. Not that any of this matters since Timm already said it's DCAU.
Superman sustained a fairly serious injury during the first battle at the beginning of the movie and he was still recovering for most of it. It's like the Worf effect on STTNG where they have to knock out the most powerful guy first to show how strong the bad guys are.
Kevin Fisher
>You replied that they all do that. retorted that they don't. No, I replied that most of them do that, they retorted >It's the only one that uses the exact production designs of the DCAU. >the only one Which isn't true. Harley Quinn reuses the the same designs as JLU/BTAS, and most of the recent films borrow the same aesthetic designs as DCAU shows like Young Justice.
Lucas King
>DCAU shows like Young Justice Oh, you just don't know what DCAU means. Got it.
Nicholas Collins
I’m willing to let my suspension of disbelief accept The Fatal Five’s future tech as enough to knock Superman on his ass. After all, modern tech can already do that, albeit advanced and expense as it is for that era (Thanks Lex)
Grayson Myers
Superman always jobs in the Bruce Timmverse, he can only "no sell" when Darkseid is around. Even then it was kinda funny the crew forgot DCAU supes can't fly in space without a space suit (neither in STAS or JLU).
Eli Sanders
>Superman jobs and almost die to Persuader and Tharok >Batman defeats Mano effortlessly Fuck Timm
Blake Morales
You act like this is new for the DCAU >Hums Doctor Destiny into submission >Seduced Cheetah in like 10 mins >Wrote a program to put Chronos into an infinite time loop thus saving reality >Evaded Darkseid’s Omega Beam
Kevin Cooper
Alt timelines are definitely a thing in the DCAU, maybe this is the timeline Hal Jordan came from youtube.com/watch?v=HgmxrphT06w
Ethan Jackson
I know DCAU was full of batwank but this was worse than usual. Miss Martian acting like a retard and forgetting all her powers just because Batman was there was painful to watch. Yeah, J'onn was a jobber but at least he tried. I don't want more DCAU content desu
Chase Turner
>>Hums Doctor Destiny into submission Nothing wrong with that >>Seduced Cheetah in like 10 mins Cheetah was a whore >>Wrote a program to put Chronos into an infinite time loop thus saving reality Nothing wrong with that >>Evaded Darkseid’s Omega Beam Retarded
Isaac Ortiz
Harvey's a good boy, he dindu nuffing, don't blame him for Two-Face's crimes.
Sebastian Reed
Those are slightly off model.
Luke Mitchell
It's been a long time. I've missed DCAU.
Brandon Cooper
>implying Yea Forums reads comics
James Howard
The amount of truth in this statement is agonizing. >I used to be one of those people. >I'd post on series I had never completely read. >I was human garbage.
Jason Flores
>only kept him calm they seemed to have worked more or less. >delusions The context made it seem like doc was talking about his ideas of being from the future, etc, meaning real stuff.
Isaac Turner
It was a mistake trying to make this canon to the DCAU, what with there being no Batman Beyond or any heroes from that era being referenced.
Thomas Flores
user The Fatal Five are WAY ahead of Terry’s time. The fuck are you on?
Andrew Wright
miss martian was cute in this.
Jeremiah King
He is talking about references, retard. The legion got a museum about superheroes but there weren't references of the beyond Justice League.
Aiden Clark
He's talking about the memorial. Though honestly, they could've just been in another room.
Kayden Cook
Pretty sure meds didn't make him forget he was from the future but from months of reinforcement against his "delusion" in therapy. Remember he was in Arkham for 10 months.
Why they sent a random kid whom even Batman thought was harmless to Arkham is beyond me. Though it is surprising he made so many friends and adapted so well to such a shitty place full of shitty and hyper dangerous people. I would love to watch the animated series of the Good Guy Gregs Adventures in Aarkham Assalum.
>Chaos as mass breakout occurs >Large hole in the wall all the villains are running out of >Thom Still sitting at the table wondering whats going on >"Guys where are you going?!? You are going to miss bingo! Miss Harley you will be back right? You promised to show me how to braid hair today!"
Plus it was all in Star Boy's memories so maybe they just didn't look beyond what was relevant
Jose Cook
>Pretty sure meds didn't make him forget he was from the future but from months of reinforcement against his "delusion" in therapy. even that did not make him forget. traveling outside the machine may have fucked up his mind even more, he did have partial amnesia. >Arkham cameos. >Though it is surprising he made so many friends and adapted so well to such a shitty place full of shitty and hyper dangerous it stretches credulity that in 10 months no one put the hurt on him to a point where he used his powers. another thing about delusion is that people don't usually have proof but he could put on his outfit whenever he wanted and no one took his legion ring. Im marking this all under story concessions and it did not bother me but if you wanted to be nitpicky you could write a wall of text just on this. >Why do I find pudding boy so endearing? too pure for this world. also you did not have to be there for his shitty episodes. mentally ill people are a chore to deal with
Lucas Gomez
Yeah they really went against all of the other DCAU Miss Martian appearances like
Ian James
>it stretches credulity that in 10 months no one put the hurt on him to a point where he used his powers Two-Face probably stared looking out for him early.
Carter Bell
It strains credulity that a time traveler from the 30th Century can manipulate density with his will.
Blake Lewis
He's a fucking nice guy.
Samuel Gray
>How come people don’t bitch when Hal does the exact same thing in comics? He's a straight white male
Lincoln Cox
on day ? even 2 face would need time to start liking the kid and 2 face can't be in 2 places at once. in what way?
Ian Reyes
It's weird, Kyle has Hal's origin story in the DCAU. I don't know what the fuck Hal's origin could be in this universe.
Mason Davis
Not to mention that there were a ton of current-era Leaguers that weren't shown either. Actually, if you pay attention to the layout, they have to enter into several different rooms based on the statues visible in various frames. The top part of pic related shows the Superman and Wonder Woman statues. You can't see these from any of the other frames, and when the shot changes to show Jess from the front, you can see more statues behind her. I can't tell who either of them are, but they don't match the statues from the previous shots so she must be in a new room.
Kai-Ro not showing up with the other Lanterns is weird, but since chances are, he's not the only Lantern active at that time, there may be a second Lantern room somewhere too.
fuck off retard. all the "it has one fantastical element so anything goes" fags can go die in a fire while getting ass raped by a rusty rake.
Jose Jackson
>How many T orbs does he own? many. >Are they expensive he is rich.
Cooper Cook
Could we be getting a DCAU relaunch or is that hoping for too much? We've had a few DCAU related movies before this one right? Like the terrible Harley one and the alt-universe one with vampire Batman kind of.
Robert Baker
Nah the "we need to nitpick the logistics of Arkhams induction process" are way more deserving of that fate as they have literally destroyed criticism.
Jeremiah Thomas
We're never getting that
Samuel Wilson
No one is willing to pay that much for VAs and passable animation, though this movie is a bad example as there were a lot of flubs I caught, anymore when they can mass spam out easy money making shows.
John Jackson
How come we could do it in the 2000's but we can't do it now?
Joseph Fisher
Just finished the movie, and are there people seriously not liking it? What on Earth are they complaining about?
Hunter Wright
I don't know why either of those anons are saying it's impossible when they literally just did this for Young Justice. However, I do think this movie and the inevitable big seven reunion that they're going to do next will have to sell well to give them the confidence required to take the plunge.
Brayden Myers
Eel O’Brien, we all know that’s you.
Leo Carter
We CAN, but we won't. If you own a company would you rather pay very little and make a cheap product that will make a ton of money off a broad audience or would you rather pay a metric fuck ton to make a quality product that will only sell to a niche market?
It's sad but it's business. TTGO is easier and makes more money than TTs.
Daniel Walker
The question is what would the series be about? JL/JLU was not much for huge overarching stories like YJ. Would they just continue to adapt short 2 episode stories from older comics? Or pull things from recent events like Metal?
Ryder Edwards
Is Starboy actually dead or is he just trapped in the sun since he is the only thing preventing the sun from dying?
Christopher Reyes
Then why did they make Young Justice? Why do they bother making any animated movies? TTG is a way different market.
What do you mean what would it be about? It would be about the Justice League since that seems like the show most likely to come back. Not having a huge overarching plot isn't a drawback. It's just a different way to present material. It's lots of small stories that, when joined together, tell a big story about a group of people. And the DCAU stories were almost never adaptations. The ones that were were usually terrible. Never forget how they tried to shoehorn the reincarnation plot on the wrong fucking Hawk. They were instead original content. There's no reason to believe that wouldn't be the case again.
Samuel Watson
He's dead. Why? Who knows? It isn't his power to become the force holding a star together, just changing density of matter.
Even if he wasn't dead he might as well be as there is no way we will ever see him again. He was a secondary character who did nothing but sideline and cheer on how great the main character is.
Matthew Ortiz
The DCAU stories were generally always adaptations, and great ones at that. I don't know what you're smoking.
Bentley Rivera
>Then why did they make Young Justice? Cartoon Network and DC took a business risk and it failed. Not because of fan interest in YJs case but because of its failure to generate revenue through merchandise and 3rd party resources to justify the production costs. That is why it was canceled. Reinterest is bringing it back where it is worth the risk reward that could be profitable this time around but more than likely the lifecycle will repeat. TTGO gets kids not only to watch but buy everything from action figures to underpants in mass amounts. Again. Why make something that requires time, effort, and money when I can make easy to move merch that craps out money?
Cartoons aren't only about viewership and if you really like YJ you should go and buy some toys. Which I wouldn't recommend because their figures are jank and have zero possibility or play factor for kids.
Young Justice Outsiders is the 3rd season. It's being brought back because of fans wanting to see it. It went away because of bad sales in toys and 3rd party market merch, again something they don't see with the cheaper easier to make shows that target a younger audience. The demand now, a large chunk only from outrage from how DC handled their PR, means that there is a possibility that this time around they can make decent money back IF this time the demand correlates to an increase in merchandise sales.
As for your followup question on why they make movies at all is directly related to the initial statement I responded to of will we see a new DCAU relaunch show. A movie makes its money back quick and easy and gets instantaneous cash grab from the small amount of specialized merch it produces. When you create an ongoing show you have a plethora of other costs to the production vs what breaks down for these direct to DVD movies as they created a single long episode. The amount of marketing, air time, scheduling, ect is astronomically lower. This means a huge turn around when you look at in vs out cash especially when it comes to merch. When Gods and Monsters came out a decent amount of (IIRC DC DIRECT) figures of Mexican Superman, Vamp Bat, and Bardawoman were offered to be sold to LCSs and many saw a quick sell due to the store being, for once, allowed to purchase a low amount of stock then resold to a select niche group of fans that actually saw the movie and wanted merch to match.
It's even better turn around when you make the merch cheap and crappy but know fans will buy it because they will never see another installment of the character or one in that art style again. I actually paid money for this piece of shit because I know I will never get a better leaper of boarders in a single bound figure.
brainy needs to show up with the fucking sun scooper 9000 and save my boy
speaking of brainy how could you make him bald Timm you animal
James White
>The amount of marketing, air time, scheduling No, no, no! user, I meant a new show for the DCU app. As in, something you'd have to pay up front for. And one of the big reasons that they try to bring people into that is to sell them merch. That's why I brought up YJ: Outsiders--because it has the same goal--to get money up front and sell merch.
Also, I'm sorry about your shitty figures. Those are pretty bad.
Oliver Torres
How did Saturn Girl make a force field? I thought she was just a telepath
Cameron Mitchell
Thank fucking god for that. Bruce Timm ran it to the ground and you fuckers need to move on
Parker Scott
Either a telepathic field repelling all attack or simply basic future tech
Parker Moore
The fact that this movie is leaps and bounds above any other current DC related media across the board (except for Young Justice even though the crappy animation kind of ruined it) says otherwise.
Josiah Ortiz
The new dcshg show is fairly good. if you get past the girliness. I liked it better than young justice
Basically, DC's trying to make a whole line-up of shows to sell people on their app, and some of them are animation. So I could see it ending up on there with YJ and HQ. It would undoubtedly take a major hit in animation quality, but nostalgia sells.
Charles Moore
A little dull. I thought Jessica Cruz wasn't able to make constructs and she had a built in buddy cop thing with Baz? This just makes her like every other lantern. I found her outfit to be a bit on the boring side design-wise as well. I guess if they make more of these types of films in the DCAU style I can expect Supes to just keep jobbing like he did every second of JLU and JL? I just wasn't feeling this one. At least the bat wank was kept somewhat under wraps besides his one on one fight. Not sure why batman also had to enter star-boys mind though. Not sure why Jessica led the Trio to OA, and didn't just drop them in deep space and leave them. They didn't seem to have teleportation technology or FTL flight for that matter. I guess I'm just not big on time travel stories though. I was expecting more team work though, not for the solution to be just Jess solos the entire enemy team.
Star-boy was great though.
Luis Lopez
The movie sucked though
Jeremiah Turner
Mano was capable of tanking Superman but Batman somehow managed to injure. Still a Batwank.
Austin Garcia
I think she had tk powers in the losh cartoon, so maybe she does here too
Elijah Reed
Same reason why Ms. Martian was capable of phasing others.
Carson Ross
Nah it really didn't. Especially compared to DC's comic, TV, and movie line up right now.
Joshua Jones
Young Justice had an amazing first season, and a fucking horrible second season. I haven't been able to force myself to watch the third.
Owen Russell
Green Lantern's do nothing better than pull power out of their ass, it does not matter what gender they are.
Eli Bailey
Honestly if you hated the 2nd season you're probably not going to like this one either, it has a lot of the same problems, timeskip and a whole bunch of new characters that don't get any focus introduced, also it's gorier and the animation quality is kind of bad
Jayden Anderson
Pretty boring movie honestly.
Robert Foster
>it's gorier and the animation quality is kind of bad This wouldn't bother me. >a whole bunch of new characters This would. Who the fuck thought this was a good idea?
Julian Rodriguez
Hey I didn't say it was gone, just lowered from its' usual dizzying heights. Not sure why the DCAU hates superman so much. If they have to remove him from play because the enemy is too retarded to deal with him, why can't they just have him need to lift something real heavy or have him chase something that's really fast. That way he's out the picture instead of having him look like a punk getting shot in the back with a fucking laser pistol and crumpling on the ground like yamcha. Sick of this shit.
John Barnes
Why doesn't the red lantern villain ever use red lantern powers and just melts stuff?
Brayden Young
Mano isn't a Red Lantern
Hudson Anderson
Got the lantern logo and color.
Justin Barnes
Red Lanterns can vomit corrosive blood on people, but Mano's antimatter hand is a different superpower that's unique to him.
Ethan Garcia
That's gross
Zachary Lopez
i hope they do some sort of Legion show on their streaming service or whatever it is. Have they appeared in any other recent media outside comics?😃
Ian Diaz
>recent media outside comics >comics >recent Good April Fools joke user.
Carson Reyes
Teen Titans GO to the movies was way better than this "DCAU" movie
Daniel Allen
Take your Ritalin.
Kayden Cox
The creators of the show you admitted you liked. Just because you have shit taste doesn't mean it's bad.
Jordan Ward
Supergirl has Mon-El, Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5 and Dream Girl
interesting i might check those episodes, thanks user
Aaron Lopez
So by your own logic, YJ is bad?
Caleb Walker
Huuurrrrk
Jonathan Baker
Though the AI in the time vault on Flash notes that XS was part of the 2nd reboot of the legion of - before she cut it off.
There's only one future for many of these worlds. Mark my words.
Wyatt Ward
>Slade was better rival than the five >Robin's struggle and development was better than Jessica's >better at bulding up the final confrontation >my superhero movie song >no Batwank It was better, user.
Owen Murphy

Lucas Rivera
way too much batgod and the attendant batwank
Angel Howard
God I love her design, That asspull in the end how she gets off OA was fucking stupid. But god do I love her design!
was absolutely overjoyed to see them go back to justice leage animated shit and not that new 52 crap
James Bell
miss martians boobs are cute
Ryder Edwards
>Scooby Doo & Batman: The Brave and the Bold >Justice League vs. the Fatal Five >Teen Titans Go vs. Teen Titans Since WB Animation seems keen on reviving these old shows for DVD movies , when are we getting an animated film based on the Batman?😂
The Green Lantern run was excellent and it's pretty much her and Baz in space hanging out and taking names. I'd see if you can get a Hoopla account (assuming Bergerland) and check it out from them to read digitally - or RCO it and then you can get more trades if you really liked the first one.
The issue with reviving it is that it would likely get a ten episode order like Samurai Jack did. I don't want Justice League back for just a ten episode arc.
Josiah Nelson
this
Josiah Foster
Because Timm is only really interested in writing his waifu
But there was no narrative reason it needed to be DCAU. This could have been done in a brand new style. In fact, this movie would have been better if they seriously downplayed the Trinity or left them out altogether to focus on the newer characters.
Evan Martin
Booster Gold and Blue Beetle Something Milestone (but not Static) like Kobalt or Xombi Red Tornado
Michael Myers
Boo
Grayson Mitchell
They talk about knowing her because She's there. If John or Hal or any of the other lanterns were there they'd be sucking their dicks instead
Jonathan Jones
If it's even half as good as the Cadmus Arc, I wouldn't mind seeing it return.
Aaron Flores
Aside from the designs Crisis on Two Earths is directly based on an unused DCAU script anyway. It even sets up the creation of the JLU.
Elijah Gonzalez
Dear DCAU. I will, for free, write you a script for Blue & Gold: The Adventures of Blue Beetle & Booster Gold right the fuck now if you want.
Matthew Davis
Now give some of them a chance. Terrifically are a no brainer, Sideways has a great gimmick and has Multiverse possibilities, and Silencer has that John Wick angle
Sebastian White
I am genuinely shocked at how much I enjoyed Sideways and Silencer. Both were way better written than they had any right to be.
I had a huge soft spot for Brimstone, myself, given that I originally came from a tiny, dying Appalachian community, myself.
Kayden Roberts
This comes up in one of the interviews. It wasn't supposed to be DCAU at first. It was supposed to be standalone, but they fucked up on the art and had it looking too much like DCAMU. It was too late in the process to completely start over so they got stuck using the JLU models instead. A few script updates later, it was a DCAU movie.
Connor Clark
Is this any good? Are the production values at least decent? DC animated movies have looked like low budget trash lately.
Wyatt Gutierrez
It's like an extra long, run-of-the-mill JLU episode. Nothing spectacular, but much better than most of the garbage they've put out lately.
This is the type of empty criticism I'm talking about. The "narrative reason" for it being a DCAU story is the sense of context and scope it brings to the story. It grounded the story and gave Jessica's anxiety some context. The trinity were not the focus at all, but they were well represented, and had some of the best moments their respective characters have had in any of their recent appearances in any form of DC media.
Ryder Lopez
>Memes Nope.
Ryder Thompson
>It grounded the story and gave Jessica's anxiety some context Jessica's anxiety could work in any DC universe. >they were well represented, and had some of the best moments Superman jobbing and WW barely getting screentime is being "well represented"? Really? Death of Superman did a better job with Wondy and Superman.
Jessica's anxiety could work in any universe, so it works in the DCAU, and it also works better in the DCAU because she is interacting with legends with an iconic storied history that we are familiar with. Superman saving the kid in the beginning took maybe thirty seconds and was the best portrayal of him in years. Him bleeding out was genuinely shocking. Wonder Woman understatedly wanting to kick the shit out of Persuader was amazing. Her moment with Jessica was great too. If you don't find these good representations of the characters I don't know what to tell you.
Wyatt Reyes
>t. Memebrain TTGO child
Jeremiah Lewis
What memes?
Joseph Morales
What a powerful argument >If you don't find these good representations of the characters I don't know what to tell you. Did you even watch Justice League Action?
Grayson Cruz
"Batwank", "pacing", "power levels", the usual.
Kevin Richardson
I did. I don't see what a toy commercial has to do with anything.
Andrew Bell
>pretending the Batwank isn't real And when did I say something about pacing and powerlevels?
Daniel Collins
>pretending it's not a meme
Connor Hill
This show got too much shit for not being DCAU
Caleb Davis
Just shut up. Jessica is a shitty charater and Johns is a retard.
Jack Perry
I don't disagree with that. This movie is probably the best thing she's appeared in.
Jackson Baker
>Mano can take Superman's punches and kick cars around like nothing >Batman defeats him effortlessly But Batwank isn't real, right?
Lincoln Richardson
It's a meme criticism. You and everyone else who spouts it would have liked Batman to have been killed years ago for the sake of realism.
Brayden Cook
Fuck you, Jess is great. Read a Lantern book
Cooper Cooper
Read a Lantern book from before DC went to shit first.
Ian Martin
>Batman should be able to defeat superhumans, aliens, mutants, gods, etc and if you don't agree you want a dead Batman Imagine just being able to think in absolutes. Batman and Miss Martian vs Mano would have been a way better match because of Mano's actual weakness but your precious Batgod shouldn't be allowed to job while fighting alone, right?
Jace Watson
Batman being competent is batwank user.
Josiah Torres
Yeah no shit DC has gone to shit, but Lantern stuff is one of the few things to survive Didio’s autism. You’d know that, if you’d actually kept up with current shit instead of parroting what you heard here
Cameron Rodriguez
>we need 2 more american lanters!
Julian Howard
Nice goalpost move. I’m not going to deny there’s a shit ton of Earth lanterns, but at least they’re not all on Earth and rotate/spread out.
Logan Anderson
It has some enjoyable moments, but it's probably not something I would watch over and over again. If you have any nostalgia for JLU, then you might like it.
Jackson Thomas
They are not "earth's lanterns" they are all americans. Johns has less original ideas than BENDIS
Jose Ward
>toy commercial = bad Most superhero cartoons are toy commercials. The DCAU was one. And this is the best Superman of the decade.
Sam Humpries sucks. Geoff Johns sucks. Jessica Cruz doesn't have one memorable story. You suck.
Lucas Williams
All superhero cartoons are toy commercials to a certain degree. Justice League Action is the only one that feels like it's just a long Action figure commercial.
Michael Bell
He got a couple of punches in fuckwad. You either want Batman fighting superhumans and aliens or you don't want him on the Justice League.
Liam Morgan
Cry me a river, bitch
John Miller
Hal could just have been chosen at some point off-screen like John was. There doesn't seem to exist a "one from each planet" rule in the DCAU.
If I had to introduce and explain him, I'd have him as an older human lantern chosen even before Kyle, but who had been working at a very distant sector all along to explain why he never came up before.
Eli Martinez
>still thinking in absolutes The state of the Batfags. Learn something from good characters like Mister Terrific.
Nolan Evans
Hes got the Sinestro Corp logo because hes from an antimatter universe
Jaxson Ortiz
You mean the human who was fucking shit up against the powerful aliens in this very movie? Do you want to coin the meme Terrificwank now?
Wyatt Bailey
Terrific just defended himself and Superman and gave support to the team.He didn't fight or defeat supervillains all by himself. That is how Batman should be.
Andrew Scott
Batman didn't fight or defeat supervillains all by himself either. But please tell us more about how all human superheroes should just be support and defense.
Zachary Sanchez
>Batman vs Mano didn't happen Okay, I'm out. Batfags are cancer.
Wyatt Cox
>Justice League vs. The Fatal Five didn't happen Ok see you later.
Ayden Hughes
really wanted WW to wear the movie costume
John Reyes
If anything, Hal would probably be one of the newer Lanterns. Kyle crashed into his plane during his fight with Sinestro at the Air Force base. For Hal's plane to even be there likely means he was still in the Air Force at that time. I think the Lanterns last appear in the first season of JLU so Hal (and Guy) could've joined any time after that. They also might not have joined at all yet, and their inclusion in the museum was foreshadowing for some future movie with them.
It was kinda boring. And the Green Lanterns are jobbers. They never use the good one either Guy Gardner.
Anthony Martinez
>I meant them... He's the last of the Vuldarians in the JLU and he's off crushing nigga's with his bullshit tier alien power in deep space.
Chase Torres
Wait what.
Carter Wright
This sucked.
>Why Jessica did not just drop them in space while they were going to Oa. >The GLC jobbing really hard. >I like Hal Jordan but wtf? (scene in the future) >Jessica suddenly defeating the Fatal Five by herself >Black Cosmic Boy???? >Superman and Mr. Terrific are fucking responsible for releasing the 3 bad guys >Batman defeating Mano... >LoSH showing up in the present after the sacrifice of Starboy
Nostalgia could not salvage this.
Anthony Reyes
I hope this doesn't sell well so they don't rush shit like this anymore. I'd rather leave the DCAU in my childhood memories than see it desecrated.
Kayden Phillips
hope it sells well
Hudson Jenkins
Always bring more money if you wish to get better product in the future, goy.
Brayden Richardson
>Why Jessica did not just drop them in space while they were going to Oa. Because she didn't know how far the signal between Tharok and his bombs could travel.
If she betrayed them then he'd just set off all the bombs
Plus they're aliens from the future so they almost definitely can breathe in space
Matthew Gray
They seemed to be trying to save money with simpler animation. Her movie costume has too many lines and details (straps, skirt panels, multiple sections on the bodice, etc.) to be animated inexpensively.
It's also hot garbage compared to the DCAU costume which is basically perfect.
Evan Russell
Meant for
Leo Howard
The Fatal Five are pretty stupid. Instead of blowing up the sun, they could had saved a lot of time and energy and blow up the Earth instead.
Lucas Sullivan
Does the Empress's Emerald Eye not need periodic recharge like the Green Lantern Power Rings?
Noah Brooks
But the entire point was to make it like the old BTAS, STAS. JL/U line. There was no reason to change her costume or they could have changed everyones to their actual ones. Yes the sword was out of place but she had it to battle the axe guy.
Kayden Young
The last 20-25 minutes were trash. Starboy's sacrifice was the only decent part.
Isaac Fisher
Man the animation for this movie was really bad but that seems to be the norm for most modern dc animated films.
Where can i buy it online as a file? I just want to give them the money to do more.
Samuel Gonzalez
She's a telepath. She knows who is likely to vote for her and who isn't.
Camden Jackson
But in comics we pretend good telepaths don't poke into your brain without permission.
Ryder Harris
There's a whole story arc on Young Justice about her misusing her powers and mindraping people.
Christopher Taylor
iTunes, Vudu, and FandangoNow. There are probably others, but those are the only ones I know about.
Matthew Rivera
Only Marvel telepaths are assholes
Josiah Hernandez
season 2 was ok and it really was more of the setup for the never ever s3
Evan Sanchez
the JL has a rule, even you get the majority of votes, you cant get in wihout Batman's vote. and even if you dont get the majority of votes you can still get in if you get Batmans vote
Matthew Hill
those shoulders... Timm doing his best Spider-verse Kingpin impression.
