Charlene (and Xochi) are its best characters and they don't even do much to warrant it. I also need more episodes focused on the grandma (Chata) and her enemy, Maria Theresa.

So far, in terms of MCs, I'm OK with Val, but he by himself can't carry this show. Victor is just a SHITE crybaby.

And that's just the characters. Everything else? Well, it's just proof of why this show needed to be serialized (and 22 minutes in length, like Hilda and Legend Quest are and know how to do right, too!).

Doesn't help matters that weaksauce hacks like Zeus Cervas and Casey Alexander are working on it, too (and that's me being nice, which I don't need to be to them to begin with.).

Yeah, unless by some miracle we get an episode that actually gets something serious going, I expect positive opinions on this show to be in the minority, unless we're discussing how to lewd Charlene (and also Xochi.).

And that's no good for actual discussion. To be fair, they're ain't much to discuss with how lacking this show is and comes off here. So bring on the lewds and prepare ourselves to be condemned to /trash/.

I hated it then actually started to like it after a while. It's got a strange 80s/90s cartoon and movie feel to it that I enjoyed being in after a few episodes, although it does really feel like it's riding off Gravity Falls's fame at times. It's servicable at the moment but I'm going to need the series to step it up to be considered good. Maybe making the characters interact and not be such assholes to each other would be a decent start.

I've gone through three episodes. In comparison to the pilot which gave us a trip into the underworld, a montage of fantastical creatures, and a climax with palpable stakes, the actual show falls flat.
There's just such a lack of energy. Chase segments came across as time-fillers instead of action pieces. There's no chemistry to the brothers; it feels like they fight because that's what it's assumed brothers do. Even their VAs sound bored while doing it.

I don't know where this show is going, whether comedy or adventure, but it's not hitting the right notes for either right now.

'cos we're only 10 episodes in and lolifags, chubbyfags, and miscellaneous perverts have already swarmed the threads.

There's some neat ideas in there, but it's just all so bland.

Nope, none. No proper introduction to the magic of the town, and not even to the characters in it. This show is more sitcom-styled than story-based.

If we're lucky, maybe down the road we'll see some lingering family issues and resentment stemming from Vic & Val being half-brothers. But based on how lame the first 10 episodes have been--and the series' general lack of introduction or exposition for the audience--I really can't be too sure.

Unlike Gravity Falls which had continuity and an overarching plot, this show is just episodic.
There's no mystery to anything.
Sure, there are supernatural elements, but they're not really established properly. They're just sorta there.
There's nothing to really make them interesting.
One of the characters -does- get possessed, but they managed to make that boring.

Ah that sucks, it seemed like it had a good premise from what I saw, with the magic and "lore" and everything, I've kinda watched a couple episodes but not really paid full attention, but one thing I did notice was how unbelievably annoying all the characters act, and how unfunny they were. I thought I was just unlucky with the episodes, but I guess not. Sigh.
I'm more of a shota kind of person, and Vic is pretty cute, but his voice is one of the worst I have ever heard, so it has nothing for me even in that regard and even considering the protagonists (I don't like the fattie). Also, all the random mexican words they throw around get annoying too, and the pronunciation, I can barely understand what they're saying.
That said, I dunno... is there any saving grace regarding Vic maybe? Or one episode that sucked less than the others?
I really need something decent to watch to pass the time.

That was from the pilot. It doesn't seem like much carried over from it though. We don't even find out that they're half-brothers until Victor mentions it as an aside one episode.

That screengrab was from the pilot, which is more interesting than the show as a whole.
It still has its fair share of problems, but they spend the entire episode in the spirit world and there are actually stakes at hand.

Well the creator mainly made the show for the representation of Latin mythology and culture.
That's pretty much it.
No ambition to be an actually great show.
And even then, he doesn't want things to get "too creepy" so he's not gonna touch on the more disturbing or scary parts of that mythology.

One of the writers from Clarence (Spencer Rothbell) is supposed to have written some later episodes, so we can only hope those turn out at least decent.

But yeah, so far it's just fucking nothing.

Only seen three episodes so far, catching up on the series. I read over that little interview, and after seeing that thing about not wanting their show to be TOO creepy/scary, I think their decision to be too tame is what hurts them. Courage didn't need any deepest lore or story arcs to be good. It was just enough to have actually interesting monsters put the hero in interesting situations and not being afraid to make them creepy.

Well finally got to watch this, all 10 I see on Kimcartoons at least. Not a bad show, ham-fishing Vic learning a lesson too often. Gotta say the episodes feel a bit rushed. Barely even giving you a second to appreciate the extremely cool title cards. Didn't like Vic at first but he's really growing on me, Val's a "good boy" so is kinda boring so far (except for when he got possessed), Charlene is amazing, Xochi is pretty good, everyone else is pretty okay. No one I hate so far.

Favorite 3 episodes in order are: "Lonely Haunts Club", "Legend of the Hidden Skate Park", and I guess a tie between "Suerte" and "The Babysitter". Show is certainly more exciting than Craig of the Creek but at the same time it needs to take more time to introduce characters.
