its "exotic" to the white folk after they got bored of sushi
So is that why sushi burritos exist?
Have you heard those weird mems lately where they make fake power levels using spanish words? Stuff like
"goku blanco" and what not? For some some reason americans really find spanish words funny.
That and burritos are both tasty and foreign enough they feel special.
It's "exotic" and sounds "funny"
Burritos taste good. It's not really a joke as it is kind of an appeal to the tastes of the audience.
My answer: America's obsession with foreign food or just because the food was plagued on the internet.
the irony is that the modern burrito was made by a texan and the original "burrito" was just a bigger flauta
Wait, are burritos mexican or tex mex?
>burritos
>exotic
???
Burritos are actually an American dish in the first place, which derived itself from another American dish called the stromboli which in itself came from a German dessert called the swiss roll. Burritos are not a joke in themselves, but eating one always comes with dire consequences and when you see them in a show the comedic effect comes from the character trying to deal with said consequences.
its all tortillas with meat cheese beans and rice.
Fool, Goku could only dream of achieving the power of the blanco form.
Coulda swore they were tex mex
both, the tex-mex version is what's mainly served in the US and in most mexican restuarants like the -berto "chain" of restuarants. As shady as those chains are, they do make a tasty burrito
It's a funny word.
> eating one always comes with dire consequences
Imagine having such a terrible digestive system.
Yeah, I know the four ingredients and my question remains unanswerd.
“Where’s my burrito from,”
“Where’s my burrito from,”“Where’s my burrito from,”“Where’s my burrito from,”
Thank you anons
This guy is on point.
Burritos are objectively funny.
They are universally tasty food that most people enjoy and they cause diarrhea.
Also the name is funny. the word burrito is funny like the word spaghetti is funny.
tex-mex food in general is a huge meme because
1. it's easy to get/make
2. it's pure junk food with no nutritional value and americans love that
3. 50% of people will fart up a storm after eating it
>in most mexican restuarants like the -berto "chain" of restuarants.
What chain of restaurants are those?
I beg to differ. Mexifag here, burritos are pretty much treated exactly the same as tacos, as in you can order them of whatever you want: picadillo, deshebrada, chorizo with potato, barbacoa. My favorites are chilorio burritos they serve in a Saltillo restaurant named La Posta and are by far some of the best burritos I have ever eaten. The example this user gives is something I have never seen in my almost 30 years of life.
Wow imagine watching an American cartoon and they have a joke centered around food of all things. Oh man, that would be just crazy.
its just a funny sounding word
Writers basically live off of them. Burritos for every meal with no regrets or shame.
>eating picadillo
fake mexifag detected
Ok, let me ask you user, what's your idea of picadillo?
>being this triggered
Goku Blanco is due to Dragon Balls popularity in Latin America.
>triggered
I'm asking seriously, I'm literally just asking you what's your idea of picadillo. Here in my house we have two ways to prepare it, it's seasoned grinded meat cooked in a pot, either with potato or with tomato and onion, depending on what are you serving it for, but the former is more common in any places where they sell tacos, gorditas, burritos and such.
>goku blanco
literally just means "White Goku"
>Tfw somedays I'm lazy enough to just have bread and picadillo for dinner
and next you're going to tell me that Gohan Calvo means "Bald Gohan"
Sure thing, buddy

I live in SoCal and there’s a bunch of Mexican fast food places with names like Alberto’s, Alerto’s, Roberto’s, Rigoberto’s, etc.
>food known to cause intestinal distress
>easy to draw
>funny to say
Has culture truly deteriorated to the point that such basic comedic tenets are drawn into question?
I referred to tacos as "pepe wraps" until I was like 14 after this episode
That's...lazy.
I disagree. I find it charming, faggot.
Rigoberto It's a pretty funny name in spanish kek
Mexican here.
They are american. Maybe they serve it over the north part, but here in the center you'll never find any of that outside of tv.
Really? That's curious. I'm from the north (Monterrey specifically) and they're more or less common, but the only restaurant I've seen that exclusively sells them was the one I talked about a few posts ago (La Posta).
>pure junk food with no nutritional value
this is the most american statement of all
it's all food, dude. it's all the food groups. hell it's not even loaded with fat and sugar which are the usual demonized ingredients, just meat and veg and some grain and dairy.
It's a food people eat? There's nothing more too it. This is like asking "why are burgers, pizza, french fries, pasta, etc, etc, etc, featured in cartoons so much".
All these claims of "oh it's white people trying to be exotic but failing" are pseudo nonsense. It's featured just as much as any other item listed above in media because it's a food a large amount of the western world has eaten at some point.
that's because they're northern mexican, but they originated at the time when mixture with america was ubiquitous
which makes sense, the older mexican tortilla was corn, and a corn tortilla makes a lousy burrito. the introduction of the big, flexible flour tortilla obviously made it easier to cram more shit into it, instead of just having a small taco or tamale which the natives have been eating since before they ever saw a gringo.
I'll talk in english for the sake of others understandong.
A question, is "La Posada" a chain restaurant?
>Monterrey
Lo siento, pero tenía que postear este gif.
In Sonora burritos are simply rolled flour tortillas filled with beans or shredded beef.
Is "La Posta" and yes, it is, but I think they're exclusive to Saltillo and nearby towns. Is one of those places that have been around for decades but for some reason never expanded to other states.
It's a good food that's hard to fuck up, and the name is fun to say for an English speaker.
And there it is the answer.
Yes it was a northern invention born of the mix of two things, but here in the center and south parts, they are seen as an unated states thing on the level of a double bacon cheeseburger and tacos with hard shells.
I thought it said "la posada". Sorry, my bad.
Just the "food" from Taco Bell really
I LOVE SUSHI
WOAH EATING FOOD IN A CARTOON!? Those wacky Americans are at it again!
Tell me anons, I know if you guys were gonna get a burrito you'd get the works.
But if you had to get a bean and cheese burrito would you get Whole or Re fried?
Got one place that makes a super cheesy bean burrito with whole beans while I got another place that make smooth silky velvet refried beans completely with oaxaca cheese. fantastic.
whichever I had most recently,I'd get the other kind. variety is the spice and all that
Step aside, Califags.
I LOVE JAPAN PERIOD
GIRUGAMESH
>step aside
They have that here, but they don't seem to last, considering we also have, Baja Fresh, Rubios, Chipotle, Sharky's and even a restaurant called El Torito, and a mixture of both authentic Mexican restaurants and ma and pa hole in the walls.
Don't remember well, memory of the thing is very foggy, take this with a grain of salt.
The burritos are called that because od the guy who invented them, he sold them around that border area on texas and aold the product like tacos de canasta, that means, in a basket, and he carried them on his donkey because the animal was his means of transportation/pet.
Burrito is spanish for "little donkey"
Monterrey?
Sushi is more exotic then burrtios. Neither are exotic anyway. Your dirt spic culture isn’t special you can go home now.
Go back to
>Burritos are actually an American dish in the first place
It was created in Mexico user, but yeah USA is part of America.
that's an urban legend, though not the kind that's disproven or anything, just the kind that's pretty unlikely
they're probably called little donkeys because they look like one
tacos with hard shells aren't uniquely american either, muchacho. aztecs did that shit
though the idea that tacos are hard by default certainly isn't authentic, yeah.
idubbbz made a video explaining it.
youtube.com
Tex for sure
I've always wondered what's "American food", only burgers and hot dogs? In every show or movie when a character wants to order food usually goes like "do we order Chinese, Thai, Mexican?", makes me wonder when one would say "American"
As far as i recall it's not because they looked like one, but because they knew the guy and his donkey, and nicknamed the dish after "that guy with the donkey" but then again, i did say i may have been wrong though.
For some reason i really doubt you.
As someone living outside USA, if someone tells me about american food, I'd try hard to remember that cajun might qualify as american food. Other than that, I'd really have to research to know what can be considered american food.
cring and zoompilled
pulled pork, cornbread, greens, mashed potatos
Studio location in Cali. Cali is full of Mexican food. /Thread.
>It's because of racism!
>listen to me AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! listen to me AAAAAAAA!
>it's cause american are all racist AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Holy fucking shit. Does it not occur to the left that burritos are just fucking delicious?
lol the fuck?
AND GAY MEN
The cheaty way would simply be to look at southern cuisine. That's where all the unique ideas and flavors really come in to play. North doesn't have a lot of it's own shit going. That said, burgers, hot dogs, and pizza are all incredibly american. Most consider pizza a stolen idea, but it has been changed to an unrecognizable extent from it's source. Italians and first/second gen immigrants would spit in your face if you suggested american pizza was pizza. The "Pizza Wars" are a fascinating bit of cultural history too. A lot of legitimate animosity got stirred up as the descendants of immigrants took the idea of "flat bread with sauce and toppings" and ran with it. The original idea of pizza is very limited as an idea (and frankly kind of unappetizing looking).
As always, it's hard for someone part of a culture to really define what is part of it. It's easier for outsiders to look at us and decide by comparison.
Buritos are fucking delicious
American cartoons are produced in California.
1. This.
2. Damn you got me hungry.
Because mexican food is funny apparently
Because 'burrito' is a funny word. The Spanish language is funny. Hence: youtube.com
>burritos come from Mexico
You should drive down to central Mexico and tell an actual legit Mexican that, he will laugh his fucking ass off then ask what a burrito is. And I really mean an actual legit Mexican not the shitty faggot 2nd gen Americans who think they're Mexicans.
follow the chain starting from
It's just a vehicle for fart jokes.
So Chimichangas are just burritos deep fried right?
Mexican here
What The Fuck are chimichangas?
I think of American food as what's served in greasy spoons
Big Chungas
because burritos are a joke, they look like wrapped diarrhea
>I am an imbecile but I want to answer and pretend to be le smart anyway
yeah, it shows.
>it's a /cock/ thread
Comfy. COMFY!
Everyone loves burritos!
Literally an accident. The American burrito dropped into a deep fryer.
Refried, definitely. Having to chew anything but the meat, rice, and tortilla is antithetical to a good burrito.
Why is it a joke?
They're just eating something
Do you think it's a joke when a character eats any other type of food?
Explosive farts.
You don't eat farts though...right?
Burritos are way less exotic than sushi, which isn't even exotic anymore.
b2reddit
Basically everyone elses food only better
Chinese, Chinese, Chinese, Chinese
burritos are american version of kebabs.
It's a fast food dish brought by immigrants
>they order chinese food
>99% of the time is just soggy noodles inside those carton boxes
>native hispanics
>immigrants
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What characters are referring to as ethnic food, is in fact, ethnic food(American), or as I've recently taken to calling it, American ethnic. Ethnic foods are not styles of cuisine unto themselves, but rather another free component of a fully functioning American ethnic style made useful by the ever-seasonal ingredients, easy spread of food techniques through the country, and endless importation of basal food ideas as defined by immigrants.
Many consumers order a fully original style of American cuisine every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the style of American cuisine which is widely used today is often called "ethnic", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically American cuisine, developed Americans.
There really is an ethnic cuisine, and these people are eating meals inspired by it, but it is just a part of the American cuisine they eat. Ethnic food is the kernel: the core idea that drove a chef to combine the ingredients in a specific way. The kernel is an essential part of original recipes, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete culinary system. Ethnic inspiration is normally used in combination with American cuisine innovations: the whole system is basically American cuisine with ethnic flavor added, or American ethnic. All the so-called "ethnic varieties" are really varieties of American ethnic.
He just ate a tub of meat!
Burritos are american, there's was not such thing as mexican burritos in mexico before they existen in murrika. And no, it wasn't "immigrants", it was created by AMERICANS of hispanic origin that had been americans for as much time as any german texan or anglo californian.
USA USA USA! E PLURBUS UNUM
Ahh.
Thanks.
I miss /cock/ it was a nice April foolsday...though crossing /mlp/ and /pol/ was a mistake
nice
>though crossing /mlp/ and /pol/ was a gift sent from God
FTFY
Burritos are lazy stoner food, so only wacky dumb people eat them. After a while it's the food of wacky dumb people.
How whitebread of a town do you have to come from for a burrito to be considered foreign and exotic?
Probably from Cali. Those gays think anything with a non-"american" name is exotic.
You wouldn't ever catch a turk eating doner with salad and dip, also the doner in turkey is spicy as fuck.
That was kinda funny, bro.
Just report him and ignore him, retard.
i have never eaten a burrito in my life, and im latino, what do they taste like?what are they made of?
traditional tacos is meat, onions and some cilantro.
on either a flour or corn tortilla.
American tacos are ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese. Which is made with a fried corn tortilla shaped to hold all the ingredients.
Also there's this infamous window of what some people consider spagetthi.
>youtu.be
By the thumbnail alone I know I'm going to hate this.
Flour tortilla and whatever anyone can put in it.
Deep fired it becomes a Chimichanga
The word "burrito" sounds funny.
the fact that nobody said this the moment the thread started /10
Cell Dorado is top tier.
>Butter and ketchup
EL HERMANO
Because we actually have a great food culture that we integrated into our culture, unlike England that stole it and declared it there's like they do with kebabs and curry.
I know people do immediately dump on California over anything nonpolitical tend to be dipshits but this is taking it to a whole new level.
