What WAS his plan anyway?

>This guy choked out a bunch of Firebenders before dying
What a badass.

To kill dozens of firebenders.

to form the x-blade

Did Sozin think genociding the air nomads would just delete the Avatar from existence or something? Like did he not realize how shortsighted of a plan that was? Even if he somehow managed to genocide all the water and earthbenders after that the Avatar would've eventually been reincarnated as a firebender again.

The firebending avatar would be considered a traitor and be dealt with.

Killing the Avatar when he was like 12 would give Sozin at least another decade before the waterbender Avatar could begin fighting with any real effectiveness (accounting for how ridiculously skilled kids are in Avatar world), and another decade after that to master all of the other elements.

So over 20 years to wage his war without the Avatar getting in his way, Water Tribe raids in the meantime to buy more time in the hopes capturing him or of depriving a waterbender Avatar of any teachers.

The fact that Aang disappeared for 100 years meant a shit ton of prosperity and technological advancement for the Fire Nation as the war continued, and the fact that Aang managed to dismantle all of those advantages in less than a year and during the comet means the Fire Nation really screwed the pooch at some point

Why can’t air benders control fire ?
I get the whole four elements but fire is made up of air

Cryogenically freezing the Avatar would actually probably be the best way to ensure victory for the fire nation.

In the Bloodbending episode, it was shown that a large number of waterbenders were captured and imprisoned for years and years. If one of them ended up being the Avatar (which is what the Fire Nation would have assumed if all of the airbenders were dead), the Avatar would have been out of the way for potentially several decades giving the Fire Nation even more time to carry out their plans for world domination.

No it is not. Fire is a Plasma, American schools don't teach that, so go read up.

Hence why firebenders can control lightning, right? Whichever avatar learns to control BEC would become a untouchable god.

Airbenders are often properly identified as the most powerful benders, so they all needed to die regardless of Aang's existence.

WHAT THE FUCK was Azula thinking with that fucking blimp plan? Also, why didn't the White lotus take back Ba Sing Se during the eclipse?

I imagine it was probably more a planned occupation with the main goal being finding and neutralizing the Avatar first be it killing them or simply capturing them. There's a small window however so shit breaks down quick when your main goal isn't completed so they start killing literal children and naturally the adults of the Air Nation don't take kindly to that shit. So you just kind of end up genociding everyone.

if they took back the city during the eclipse it wouldve just been taken back during the comet the only thing they had going was the advantage of surprise

Did the Phoenix King really expect to burn an entire continent to the ground in the 10 minutes that Sozin's comet was active?

Probably run off WITH Aang and keep training him himself.

He was overly confident and headstrong. Like father like son.

This and the fact that they didn't get organized till after Iroh escaped from prison, which was after the eclipse.

getting killed was only part of his plan

Firelord Azulon did absolutely nothing wrong.

lol, fire isn't plasma, fire still have electrons

Did he start the fire?
