No, the best Samurai Jack episode is "Jack and the farting dragon".
Its certainly within my top 10 because of how increasingly unhinged Aku was in the episode where it redpilled him something fierce where Aku can touch the sword but he can't use it to kill Jack thus cementing within Aku's mind once and for all that as long as Jack has the sword then Jack is unstoppable
hence why Season 5 makes it a big deal when Scaramoosh tells Aku "Jackie baby lost his sword."
Despite Yea Forums's distaste for that episode I actually enjoyed that episode way more then shit like the 3 compilation mini episodes that were all frankensteined together where Jack gets eaten by a Sea dragon, we're never told how the fuck he got out which leads to a much more interesting story of Jack finding a homeless family of robots that have been reprogrammed by Aku to wanna consume jack's sword to a not so interesting episode where jack saves some fairy from her enslavement.
Aku was absolutely terrifying in this. If Aku didn't like to play with his food Jack would have died in the Past
The Mercenaries

...why won't you...
DIE?!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Samurai Jack is one of those shows that has too many stellar, unique episodes that there's not any chance for an objective assesment of which episode(s) are the best.
This.
Those digits don't lie.
Very hard to say.
Jack and the Traveing Creatures would be my pick if I were to only name a single best episode.
It perfectly captued his quest and traveling and had an awesome fight. Together with the last scene it was 10/10.
Of course there are many other episodes at are almost equally great
>Aku stops fucking around
>That shrieking zombie that just comes out of nowhere
>Even Jack is spooked
>Lava Monster
FREE
>Ultra-Robots
U N B E L I E V A B L E
>the bounty hunters
A fucking water drip nigga
three hunters
season 5 ep 1 -3
It's absolutely shocking how much of a gulf there is between the openers of the season and the rest. I don't even mind 4 but still
>U N B E L I E V A B L E
That was absolutley orgasmic
Episodes 4 and 5 are not bad, barring the rushed ending of 5.
true, but the span of those three episodes are the best of the entire season imo
>and then there was fire
Pushing the limits of even robot gore
It really surpised me of how graphic they were able to do this episode
I WILL EAT YOUR SOUL
Why was s5 so lame bros? I wonder if genndy lost his touch or something, maybe working on the hotel tranny series dulled his senses.
>FREE
I don't care if he cribbed it from an old Thor comic, this episode was absolutely kino.
The bit where one of the bots goes invisible and starts murdering its victims with blunt force trauma is uncomfortable to watch. Particularly with the brilliant design choice to have them all look like cheapo plastic toys.
The whole episode is basically Jack performing a mercy kill and it's beautiful
High five
>For an instant, time stops. Sound mutes. The world is silent. And in that eternal second, he realizes... he lost.
>He hears the clang of the sword more than he feels its cut through his circuitry. The world tilts as he falls to the floor. Sandal clogs clack steadily into the distance behind him. And somewhere far, far off... a small dog barks.
"Lulu. Take care of Lulu."
>And then he is gone.
Maybe not the best episode, but worth an honorable mention.
4 seasons is rlly good
>spend whole section building the bossest looking sword
>gets broke in one swing
I felt the despair
mr leaves is a pussy
Samurai Jack works best on an episodic basis. It's completely antithetical to try to work in an overarching story arc beyond the obvious premise of "Jack is doing whatever he can to get back to the past". Now, maybe the serialized nature of season 5 would have worked better if the ending wasn't so godawful and actually fit the themes and moral outlook of Jack that the series had been building up since the very beginning, but we'll never know. Also, fuck Ashi. She was good in some regards, but in the end the negatives of her presence outweighed the positives.
>that sheer look of disbelief when Aku can't use the sword to kill Jack
Gets me everytime
I love S05E01 for just how well it subverted the expectations of the reboot being super edgy when moving to [as]. You have all this build up of jack's suffering, the girls training, all for it to conclude with him fighting a flamboyant robot in high heels with a magic flute and sword that could have easily fit in with the prior 4 seasons.
>that beat that plays as he raises the sword above him
>HOW? HOW?!?!
>SPACE ACE!
>U N B E L I E V A B L E
The Ultra-Bots were fucking perfect in every way, from start to finish.
truth
Jack vs the Ninja
>so flabbergasted his eyebrows go out
>the absolute terror in his face as Jack starts ripping him to pieces
It's such a satisfying reversal from horrifying Aku to panicking Aku
>YOU CAN FLY?!?
No. Jump good.
Would have straight up been a better note to end the series on than S5
Because Genndy didn't really care (see the middle finger that was the sudden Guardian death), he just wanted people to stop nagging on him to give an end for SJ.
>subverted the expectations of the reboot
Kill yourself casualfag
Based
Chicken Jack was pretty good.
>That evil Italian music
Nope.
KINO?
Ultra-robots or Daughters of Aku?
Damn that's a great episode too
Ultra-robots, no question, they are pretty much invincible while DoA were easily beaten the moment Jack got his shit together
Because it couldn't juggle ordinary storytelling with Samurai Jack's brand of storytelling. This is coming from someone who enjoyed Season 5 a lot, despite its many issues.
Genndy should have stuck to Samurai Jack's roots, and by that I mean, barely any dialogue, lots of long takes and a lot of action. Adding Ashi wasn't such a bad move, I believe, because she was the foreign element that managed to break the stalemate between Aku and Jack. It makes sense that her inclusion is what shatters their status quo, but they could have done her better. I think that having her as a mute would have helped immensely; Jack communicating with here using body language would have resulted in a much more memorable scene. I would have ditched the romance too, but that's just me. Either way, it would have been entirely possible to translate the classic contained storytelling of classic Samurai Jack into a series depending on continuity, but they would have had to be smart about it. Have each episode be a stand alone adventure that leads to the next; it could have worked so much better if only they had followed the original material closer. I might be speaking arrogantly, I don't know, but then again, criticizing is easier than creating.
The musical track they used during the Spring segment is my absolute favorite of the series; still gives me chills.
Love the Bounty Hunters episode. It was such a spectacular way to frame just how much effort people were putting into trying to take down Jack, and he was just on another level.
Wished there were more episodes for the last season to improve story pacing and character development.
Like the past seasons, all 13 episodes instead of 10.
13 episodes, while not a certain path to absolute success, would have definitely helped S5's chances of reaching a higher quality.
The final shot of this episode still gets me hype as fuck
I maintain they should have found something, ANYTHING, for the Scotsman to do. He has a memorable entrance, declares he'll raise an army... and then disappears until the finale, where he barely interacts with Jack. Disappointing.
That more than anything triggers me
He’s Jack’s best companion and basically the only the guy to appear multiple times, but he gets a pitiful amount of time in 5 and a downright insulting interaction with Jack
>Same terrible plotline and contradictions with 3 more episodes
Nah
Bros before hoes
That’s not Sam-Moo-Rai
>Ctrl+F
>Monks
>Zero results
plebs. Jack and the Monks is amazing.
>he didn’t follow in Jack’s foot steps and become a warrior
GENNDY HOW DID YOU FUCK THIS UP SO BADLY
>liking something in Season 5 makes you a casual fag
Ah I see the Yea Forums hivemind has arrived.
If they'd just kept the beard, I might have a somewhat positive recollection of the season on the whole
The beard was amazing, fuck Scaramouch
