I think the show will lead eventually to some sort of democratic government system in Mewni that assimilates the monsters into it as well. It’s pretty clear, especially in the 3rd season, that the show is leaning more and more towards painting the Mewman monarchy as morally corrupt. But the show keeps taking other tangents. And the thing is that the show’s premise contradicts it’s message - it can’t actually make the monarchy loose it’s powers because Star, as a protagonist, requires agency for the storyline to move.

It might just be because they've held off this season for nearly a year now, even when some episodes were actually completed (all the ones that have aired so far have a 2018 date in the credits instead of 2019), and so are rushing it to get it to end at approximately the same place it would have if they'd begun the season in last fall or summer. Or they think this will keep fans more invested, since it's the final season, and result in higher viewing numbers than if they just did one a week and then periodically went on break for an unspecified amount of time.

But yeah I do kind of suspect they want to burn through it. My own theory is that some Disney TV exec might think the episodes are too dull or something to stand on their own and so they need to get them out fast to maintain hype. They did the same thing for the first 2/3s of S3, with one new episode every weekday so that within less than two weeks 9 full-length episodes had already aired.

Unintended consequences. The normal, rational thing to do would make Mewni, which seems to be modeled after a fantasy version medieval Europe, all white people. But the liberals in charge of the show said "Fuck that, diversity!" and made everyone mixes of various brown shades to be diverse. But since the main character is a little blonde girl it follows that her recent ancestors have to be white or at least white-ish. Therefore the show accidentally put out a message of white = elite. The same sort of unintended consequences were at work with the treatment of most Mewmans as idiots. Since the Butterfly royals are main characters, they have to be relatively smart. But the writers wanted Mewmans to look stupid to help prop up their "monsters are oppressed" narrative. If the Mewmans are all bigoted pants-on-head retards who can't notice things like that they're living in a giant's house and can't do anything productive, no one will feel bad for them when Eclipsa steals their property and gives it to monsters. But this also accidentally creates a situation where the intelligent divine magical white royals are ruling over a race of idiot mutts.
