> Disney’s Dumbo is flying in lower than the $50 million-plus tracking expected with an estimated $46M-$49M weekend off a $15M first day. It is not what we typically expect from the uber-event Disney live-action remakes of its toon vault (meaning, the bigger branded animated classics like Maleficent and Cinderella). Critics have whipped Jumbo Jr. hard at 55% on Rotten Tomatoes. though a lot can change for this $170M-budgeted pic (not counting global P&A) by tomorrow with matinees.

GOOD.

I hope it tanks

I am so tired of these stupid live action remakes.

'nuff said.

Does he even fly?

if youre gonna post JUST FUCK MY SHIT UP then you should hang out in the DOOM PATROL thread with all the other Brendan lovers

lol

Maybe Disney should try do something... I don't know...

Original? Nah. Nah that'll never work!

I just saw this movie and it was so heartfelt

Prove that "people" wrote, directed and starred in it and not Disney Corporate robots. Then it's schadenfreude.

You can't.

please let it fucking tank.
Disney needs to fucking stop with these goddamn remakes

WHO ASKED FOR A DUMBO REMAKE???

from all disney old movies.
Dumbo, the original was not a bad movie but was just not a big deal, anyone could see that people would not watch.

Hopefully Aladdin bombs too and people stop seeing these shitty fucking movies, they never make any originals anymore and they need to.

Corporations are now people. So it is schadenfreude.

More liek fartfelt

At this point I think these live-action adaptions are disrespecting the animation. It's like saying they aren't good enough unless the sexually attractive people get looked at on screen. In this century, normies have no love of art or animation, just staring at faces and bodies of people they like...

Because Dumbo is not cute but horrifying.

If Dumbo can't meet expectations what hope does Shitztain have?

executives

do people still think that movies are made for the public's consumption, and not for the public's attention and money?

Even if it tanks, they still retain the IP rights

>(((people)))

Nobody asked for any of the live action remakes
Only Maleficient is kinda interesting but it's not exactly a remake (Dumbo isn't either from what I'm hearing but they are selling it as such)

Will Smith as the genie is already a fucking meme so I doubt it will flop.
Sad, but it's the reality.

but why the human element it had little to no focus on the original and not it take up like 75% of the film from what I hear and that's killing it.

I'd be willing to see it if they could provide a trailer to prove it won't suck.

Unfortunately the trailers look like a made for TV movie, not a FUCKHUGEBUDGET DISNEY REMAKE. Internet edits of Will Smith look better!

Attached: Will Smith Genie.jpg (970x546, 57K)

As an actual critique, I notice the movie is set in the "Oscar" era of the post-war boom in the US. A lot of movies set in this time did well because the country was riding away from a depression an into a time of prosperity, but the specter of tragedy still loomed overhead. It was a poignant, bittersweet time.

But as the generation that grew up then passes away and modern creativity boards only know the time second hand, it's gotten to be less effective as a period.

The circus is dead now. Most of us who are adults have been dealing with a recession the lower and middle class didn't recover from, and there's supposedly a second one looming now that the yield curve inverted. Corporations play everything safe and most companies have so much market control that all they focus on is cutting costs instead of competing to make good products.

This film is set in an era that's dead to us. In period whose attitude is equally dead. Made by a committee that doesn't understand it in the first place.

Will's just doing it to become closer to Black Panther 2.

Well said, Yea Forumsmrade

Or easier than that, the movie is set in an era that means nothing to anybody bron after the 1960s.
In 2019 you hear a story about animal abuse every other day.

>Internet edits of Will Smith look better!
Motherfucker that edit was done by a professional.

>animated classics like Maleficent
Jesus Christ, are there any bloggers who actually know what they're talking about?

good

>muh animal cruelty
>muh smart woman
this movie was horseshit
opening with casey jr was kino though

you know, those elephants are kinda...

God damnit this got me

>$170M-budgeted pic (not counting global P&A)
>170 million
>Before promotion and advertisement costs are even added
Why? It's fucking Dumbo, who would spend that much money on something that isn't widely liked by a majority of people? Yeah, it was a cute movie but otherwise forgettable.

There's no way TLK and Aladdin are gonna flop but hopefully this makes Disney realize not EVERYTHING needs a live action remake. Millennials didn't grow up with Dumbo being their absolute favorites so it makes sense nobody really turned up for this. They had the sense to put the Lady and the Tramp movie on Disney+ so I don't know why they didn't do the same with Dumbo.

Will they stop making these live-action remakes if enough of them fail?

CGI elephants don't come cheap.

Yeah but with Aladdin and Lion King happening this year I doubt they're about to experience a string of flops.

The successful ones will gross more than enough to pay for the middling ones. They'll be selling the blu rays (and DVDs I shit you not) to grandmothers for decades. There's no way this is a poor or risky bit of movie-making.
No.

Dumbo's not doing so good? Well maybe you shouldn't have made him look so fucking horrifying.

It's really just the eyes. Someone should try photoshopping them a darker shade of blue.

>Hiring Burton
>Expect him not to spooky it up
He's a one note hack

And the movie wasn't?

I really don’t know what they were expecting here. Nobody likes these remakes.

>Nobody likes these remakes.
>BatB 2017 made over $1 billion
More like they remade a movie that's 78 years old and had nothing really iconic going for it besides the pink elephants bit and 'Baby Mine'. Even Jungle Book nearly hit 1 billion.

Truth. All of this is truth. Especially..

>The circus is dead now

Modern creatives do not seem to understand this. I've worked for Cirque setting up their shows, that's what we have... the Circus still exists but it moves around, in semi-trucks and tour buses, it's not the stereo-typical image anymore. Writers make these old fashioned circus' in modern times and, as you said, that's lost on us, that's not how it works anymore.

>. Corporations play everything safe and most companies have so much market control that all they focus on is cutting costs instead of competing to make good products.

This is killing them too. They do live action because it's cheap for them, film everything in front of a green screen, props are barely needed, GCI will just make up everything as it goes along. It's showing in film, it's showing how little effort they want to put into the final product, hoping that familiarity of it will sell it instead.

>Nobody likes these remakes.

Only people I've seen like these movies are shallow girls, that's it. Girls who never read books or have imaginations, they just see DISNEY THING and like it because they need to associated with the Brand.

>Low budget
Nigga the Live-Action Jungle Book movie cost like 175 million dollars.

People said the same thing about Captain Marvel. Guess what happened.

These movies are the furthest thing from low-budget.

That's a lot of shallow girls going to the movies then.

Does the girl go barefoot at all?

This is the Justin Bieber generation of girls we're talking about user.

Yeah, CGI is fucking expensive, just from rendering time alone. It just gets used everywhere because its less labor intensive then practical effects and traditional animation.

They gonna fuck up Hunchback aren't they

Attached: 1546734853024.png (1280x720, 505K)

Wow it's like nobody wanted edgy dumbo

Disney produced the 5 most expensive movies of 2018. They scored the #1,#2 and #4 grossing movies of that year (Jurassic World being #3).

Disney accounted for 26% of all domestic grosses against all studios with just 10 new release movies.

Attached: Studio2018.jpg (987x732, 129K)

It's being produced by Josh Gad and has a strong chance of featuring him as the title character. Of course they're gonna fuck it up.

I'm almost positive the Josh Gad as Quasi was a confirmed rumor. Should really just get the guy from the musical (LBR Disney isn't going to try and find an actual disabled actor).

Corporations are made up of people

That thing looks creepy

He clearly lives in a society where you can't say the-

>take cartoon originally about animals and their point of view
>remake it with oc donut steal human characters fighting for the star role

Calm down mouseshill.

The original Dumbo is roughly an hour long and the titular character never even talks. It just wasn't good remake material.

Did I literally say "low-budget" in that post at all? Fucking anywhere? Did I say that? No. I said "cheap" as in "not putting much effort into it" not the direct money they were paid, but the actual effort into the product itself. You can pay someone 500 dollars for a sandwich, but they give you peanut butter and jelly on white bread. It had a great budget, but it's a cheap effort.

Where is Timothy?

>josh gad
dead on arrival

replaced by a girl who is smarter than all the men and wants to study science, not even joking

>No. I said "cheap" as in "not putting much effort into it
Please learn what words mean. Thanks.

They they replaced him with useless human characters?

>Every non-capeshit Disney pic is floundering.
Hmm... where have I seen this before...?

Attached: 2018.jpg (500x231, 11K)

Wait this is coming out? I thought it was in summer.

Plz let it tank so bad they cancel Mulan.
Or have all the footage burn in a mysterious fire.
Please, I dont want my favorite girl to get the bullshit feminism treatment of today like Mulan 2 did.

Dumbo tanking isn't going to affect any of the big name remakes. You'd need Aladdin and TLK to flop really badly for them to rethink Mulan.

They had success with live action versions of Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Christopher Robin, etc. Clearly the plan is to run through the whole catalogue.

>don't have the bitchy elephants
>don't have Timothy mouse
>don't build up that the bitchy elephants are all rude bitches because they're all miserable in their circus
>Dumbo is constantly shown as flying in the trailers instead of leaving that as a climax
>pink elephant sequence isn't done with Dumbo being drunk/tranqed
>focus on some obnoxious kids and their armless dad
>focus on the HUMAN characters from a film where all major characters were animals
>delete crows, who positively affect Dumbo's life in the original movie because holy shit how racist these crows are who helped Dumbo fly and escape his situation in the circus

The crow thing still makes me salty, they were good guys.

Please use actual words instead of thinking everything is a synonym for something else. You're the ones that seem to read a word I didn't even fucking write. Learn to fucking read.

>Normies are gonna make sure the movies succeed because of Disney going maximum overshill
I want to die

>Dumbo is constantly shown as flying in the trailers instead of leaving that as a climax
Movie's like 80 years old I don't think that's something you can try and hide.

Money laundering is the only explanation.

Yep. And a $750 mil Aladdin and a $1b+ Lion King will keep this shit going eternally.

mama mia, papa pia, this film looks like diarrhea

It's cheap as fuck to show Dumbo doing that for the trailer, having someone fly on him is even worse.

>it's cheap as fuck to show one of your most beloved characters doing the famous thing he does
Don't quit your day job.

It doesn't matter. Because Lion King will cover the loss entirely.

Guess they spent too much money on tickets to captain foot fungus that they had none left to inflate this movie's sales too.

Did you really think there was going to be some doubt in the audience's mind that the CGI elephant was capable of flying in this movie?

Are you really that stupid or are you pretending?

Still providing free leasing to your noggin?
Charitable!

Disney is built on a foundation of remaking old ideas. Which is why it is hypocritical that they are fighting so hard against having their own original ideas fall into public domain.

Not an argument.

Is there a bigger sell out than Tim Burton?
>Le put some twisted CGI shit in the background and use a dark filter

Why have they made so many?

Iger seems to not understand the concept of moderation and variety.

Beauty & the Beast
Jungle Book
Dumbo
Aladin
Lion King

They aren't even spacing them apart to make them feel like special events, they are just shitting them out on a conveyor belt like fast food.

They should have learnt from Solo that releasing these months apart is a bad idea.

They should do these, if at all, only if there is an actual fucking reason or new take (Maleficent, for all its flaws, at least is a new take and has its own ideas). Don't fucking remake them for the sake of it.

Disney is reaching the precipice of their next downfall.

All it needs is underperforming tent poles to wrap this all together.

Considering it's losing money, he couldn't have done any worse.
Also you guys are dumb if you think he's saying it's stupid to have in the trailer because it "spoils" the ending. It's because it spoils the moment relative to the film. It'd be like advertising the trailer for Endgame by showing Thanos' defeat scene. Yeah, we know he loses. No, we don't want you to show it in the trailer.

LET'S GET READY FOR DUMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure Tim Burton just wanted an excuse to put more of his tired quirky bullshit into a movie

Attached: 1000.jpg (521x254, 43K)

Being a meme doesn't mean you'll be successful. See: Plane, Snakes on a

Hopefully between Dumbo bombing and all of the dislikes on the Aladdin trailers Disney would get the hint.

Who am I kidding Disney's gonna keep churning out these shitfests whether people actively hate them or not.

People have boarded the Aladdin hype train since the last trailer with improved CGI.

At this point we should just phase out real life actors all together, use 100% CGI and destroy the celebrity-industrial-complex.

You really posting box office numbers about a movie for toddlers and children? Who the fuck cares

savage

Attached: 1468007594103.jpg (640x480, 30K)

Johnny Depp wasn't even in this one. I think Helena Bonham Carter won him in the divorce.

The Keaton role feels like it was written for Depp.

Oh thank fuck. One down, four to go.

How do they deal with the crows? Are they totally omitted? What about the scene where he gets drunk and starts hallucinating?

Both gone.

>> Disney’s Dumbo is flying in
Anyone who writes puns or jokes in article scripts or titles are fucking faggots.

>Only Maleficient is kinda interesting
It's shit and Maleficent sucks

>I've worked for Cirque setting up their shows
You better have some stories did you fuck a QT clown girl?

It does mean free marketing, though.

>when the movie pushes the woman can do no wrong narrative so hard it even makes the dragon a man

For the life of me I can't see why people even tolerate that movie

Angelina Jolie, apparently.

Y'all are like try something different and disney is. this isn't even the same story as the first. It focuses on the human characters rather than dumbo and the animals. So it's different enough and it's gonna bomb because of it. All Disney original live action shit bombs other than pirates. The mass wants sequels and remakes. y'all stay at home and torrent movies anyway. No one cares about a bunch of virgins opinions.

I did asshole you go watch fukin John Carter u dik.

>All Disney original live action shit bombs other than pirates. The mass wants sequels and remakes.
Mass audiences apparently want capekino.
6 of the top 10 movies of 2018 were cape movies, including #1, #2, #4 and #5.

they are literally just renewing their copyrights. They don't give a shit if these things flop.

Usually thats for straight-to-video stuff though
these are 150m - 200m budget movies, thats not money you usually drop on keeping the copyrights

>why did our non-calarts animation bomb what did we do wrong
Disney getting dumber by the minute. Invest in Shit Vs Season 5 instead where your money in no standards lies.

Why can you see the veins in his ears jesus fuck

That's how elephants work son. The big ears is literally a way to cool their blood.

I didn't even know it was out yet.

Josh Gad is perhaps the first actor to mention Yea Forums in a movie.

MY SIDES

I don't know who wanted this.

I never had nostalgia for anything before Little Mermaid. And I'm guessing I'm representative of a LOT of "Disney fans".

Was he the guy in Pixels?

I agree. Especially in the case of The Lion King. The point of live-action is to put ACTUAL HUMANS in. So why BatB, Cindy, and Maleficent pulled a buck.

"live-action" cgi-shit...is CGI SHIT

Quality post

HONK HONK

Not them but you need to cool yourself, you are being too defensive.

Attached: 1476234066686.jpg (528x414, 32K)

From what I read, the movie is ironically about how larger companies take up classic franchises or original IPs and bastardizes them for a demographic the original work was never intended to appeal to, by way of a mega-circus buying out Dumbo from some small circus.

Or something like that.

It's actually doing better than what I thought. There was no hype for this

Christopher Robin made fuck all though. It was saved by it's small budget. It turns out Dumbo's is 100mil bigger so this could very well bomb

I'm not surprised. All the attention and hype is around Us and Shazam right now. It's rotten score won't have helped either

Yes

>Us
I fucking hate seeing ads for movies like these, they all seem so grating.

The two times he said it I was air boxing.

Both are gone the pink elephants are now an elaborate bubble show though.

>Maleficent, for all its flaws, at least is a new take and has its own ideas
It was just a shitty Wicked ripoff

>Disney’s Dumbo is flying in lower than the $50 million-plus tracking expected
They said 60

Anyone else feels that Disney is trying to get all remakes out at once before changing their strategies? I mean even Maleficent 2 got pushed to this year.

You'd think they learned their lesson with Star Wars

The only thing dumber than the vault is just dumping the vault out all at once

I think they are trying to bankrupt every other studio as soon as possible

I think they're just fucking idiots. They made a Lady & the Tramp remake to sell Disney+

I bet half the people in this thread didn't even know about the remake despite it already being in post production.

There are no "other studios."

Gotta refresh them copyrights, user.

I'm talking Walt Disney studios movies not marvel or star wars. U bum dickley

Honestly I have no problem with them releasing the remakes on Disney+. In fact I won't be surprised if most future remakes are made for it.

> disney canceling something that they are tailor making for the china market
my sides

>bet half the people in this thread didn't even know about the remake
There were threads about it when it was announced, otherwise I don't hear about this shit because I don't follow animation news sites or youtubers.

Why not do something else? Like a series, or cartoon adaptation? Why just a lazy live action +cgi version?

It's not like they aren't paying a lot of money for the CGI and actors.

What happened in Mulan II? I had it on DVD but I mean, I was a kid and during that time I was too busy taking a nail and putting holes in drink boxes. My mind was elsewhere while it was on.

I fear what they are going to do with Lilo and Stitch. CGI aliens are going to be awful.

I think The Jungle Book might have something to do with that. The CGI animals got a lot of praise so they want to take advantage of the technology. Even with Dumbo the critics said that it's the human characters that was the problem, not Dumbo himself.

It's a pretty good film, though it's kinda jarring to see Winston Duke play full-on dadcore.

>The CGI animals got a lot of praise
People who gave that shit praise should get kicked in the neck.

There were three princesses or something who were supposed to get arranged marriages with people from some foreign nation in order to secure a political alliance, but the three goofs from the first movie fall in love with them, which creates a conflict about feelings vs duty. Mushu tries to break up Mulan and Shang, I don't remember why. There's a scene where it looks like Shang dies, and it's the one good memorable part from it.

>remake a movie that nobody likes and is only memorable for racist crows and one sequence that terrified children

Hopefully this means no live action Pinocchio remake, as the original movie tends to fall into the same "only remembered for being frightening to children" category.

Attached: 134567898765678.png (900x665, 137K)

You mean more than they did the original story?

>reading the original novel
>it's just shitting on Parisians for being stupid assholes who'd stare at a wall if they thought something interesting was happening on the other side of it

Attached: 1547326888600.jpg (207x216, 25K)

The original story was shit though. If anything, Disney improved it.

Damn. Well said.

Well the movie won the Oscar for Visual Effects for a reason.

>not what we typically expect from the uber-event Disney live-action remakes of its toon vault
Wait, people actually like the live action remakes?

Mulan is the only remake that I thought looked decent. All the others look like cheap made for TV crap.

Have you missed all the money they make? That dogshit Beauty and the beast film made 1.2billion

>Mulan is the only remake that I thought looked decent.

Attached: 1376006423763.gif (400x321, 340K)

>Disney
>Original
pick one

Why won't these stupid assholes just make a goddamn Mickey/Donald/Goofy adventure movie? For God's sake, they literally own all the media in the world now, why don't they want to try and make their omnipotent mascot demon a popular character so people keep eating their shit up?

I remember following the search for mickey mouse movie and was disappointed when they said nah and stopped.

It's like they want Mickey to end up like Fred Flintstone, who is now only known as a cereal and vitamin mascot, instead of a fucking cartoon character

Taco Jerry has more Disney relevancy than Mickey

>Writers make these old fashioned circus' in modern times and, as you said, that's lost on us, that's not how it works anymore.

This is the weirdest fucking complaint. Nobody goes to the circus in the first place and you're going to be hard pressed as shit to find an audience whose major complaint for a movie is "the circus in this movie doesn't accurately reflect the way modern circuses work anymore" nor are you gonna have a kid go "this is a fucking stupid movie solely because this circus is old and lame". Kids still watch the shit out of old ass dumbo.

The live action Dumbo film is a bad film and has fuck all to do with it being set in an era "a modern audience simply doesn't get anymore" you pseudo intellectuals.

How do we bring the circus back?

It really is weird what happened to the flintstones.

>This is the weirdest fucking complaint. Nobody goes to the circus in the first place and you're-
I don't like your tone. What are you doing here?

MCU

It's sad Tim Burton ended up like this. I used to like all his movies till that super shitty vampire movie. His style was excessive but had soul. He was a major director who respected and loved animation, but Frankenweenie bombed and he just gave up on everything

Those are Female NPCs.

It was a major hit of its time. Most are dead from that time. It’s 90s vhs release was a major seller too but that was almost 30 years ago

The animation industry has collective fucked themselves over by forcing cartoons to be "for kids" only, now they actually think that live actions reboots are the go to way for it

hopefully they wise up and don't reboot best boy stitch into a horrible CGI mess

Man, if only they had paid that cynical millennial more money to shill their movie on his cash cow twitter account.

Attached: D2kJvKqX4AAeQVi.png (611x706, 444K)

You can't because of how loud animal rights activist have gotten, same way that Sea World is going to die sooner than later

Will Tim Burton finally retire now?

Is that elephant about to say the N word?

Obviously advertising on that Twitter is a miss of death for a movie

Attached: 20190330_081821.jpg (1080x1351, 437K)

Good one Eddie

it's old, but have you seen the three musketeers film? it's bretty good

greatest showman is about an old timey circus and it made bank

Why does it look so fucking ugly?

He sold out

Please no Lilo and Stitch

Is it true the end of the movie has them take Dumbo back to Africa?

Attached: IMG_4836.jpg (587x472, 34K)

Nah, Disney is doing those remakes for the sake of having new content for their upcoming Disney+ service, plus probably for complicated copyright reasons.

You mean the movie adaption of comics that have been around for 50+ years?

Pachyderms rise up

You wanna know how I got these ears?

hahahaha

Attached: 1551881138820.jpg (1200x1200, 217K)

how are these piss poor remakes even "uber events" when they push out multiple per year

>live action Pinocchio remake

Del Toro is making a stop-motion Pinocchio for Netflix.

deadline.com/2018/10/guillermo-del-toro-pinocchio-netflix-stop-motion-animated-movie-1202486949/

Death was the pale rider. It should swap Mr. Mime for Big Willie.

Literally zero people would call Dumbo an uber-event.

Beauty and the Beats or Lion King? Sure. But even Disney wasn't building a shit ton of hype for Dumbo.

I will never not be mad we missed out on dragoness kino

It's literally the only reason why anyone gives a shit about Maleficent in the first place

>Dumbo

Attached: 6796805-img_20190211_145750.jpg (942x1008, 101K)

I know you're bringing that up to show how amazing Disney is doing despire the naysayers, but the reality of those numbers is less than stellar. Nearly 2/3rds of that number is wrapped up in three films - Black Panther, Infinity War and Incredibles. If you want to throw in Ant Man, which was a decent success, over 70% of Disney's total was derived from capeshit. The remaining seven 2018 releases bombed so hard that they only account for the remaining

Attached: Disney 2018.jpg (1328x714, 471K)

I always felt that Dumbo had the bigger chances of being the better movie due to having a competent director and trying to add something new (telling a more coherent story than the original is what made the Jungle Book remake pretty decent) but it seems that they ended up letting the OCs completely take over Dumbo's story.

Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Lion King on the other hand all seem like 1:1 remakes with nothing special going on for them other than celebrity stunt casting and making the female characters stronger and more independent.

This is going to underperform but Aladdin and Lion King are going to likely do pretty well. Maleficent 2 likely as well.

Dumbo and Artemis Fowl are the yearly Disney sacrifices

I can't say I'm surprised it's doing below expectations

In fact every movie for the next few weeks is probably going to flop because people are saving up for the big one

Attached: D2wo1l0UkAA3Bu7.jpg-large.jpg (1080x1598, 469K)

How the fuck did Christopher Robin do worse than the piece of garbage that was A Wrinkle in Time?

If enough of them fail, yeah. Thing is not a lot of them are failing unfortunately

>All the attention and hype is around... Shazam right now.

Attached: 42119895538c8a4053d8689b849950d3.gif (700x373, 3.77M)

I mean you say "worse" but that's just domestic and it's only by like a million

Also
Christopher Robin:
Budget $70 million
Box office $197.7 million

A Wrinkle in Time
Budget $100–130 million
Box office $132.7 million

Wrinkle in Time completely bombed. Christopher Robin did okay

Huh? Nothing major coming out looks like it will flop. Dumbo just looks like shit and nobody cares about it

>Any time a reviewer mentions the crows were omitted because they're racist

Racism and stereotyping are two different things, and just because something is stereotypical, does not mean that it is necessarily bad or being portrayed in a negative manner.

Attached: 1553115885448.png (236x237, 94K)

that's alright then
it's del toro so it's probably going to be weird and frightening instead of audience bait

Yeah, I'm kinda looking forward to it too, the guy knows his horror and Del Toro hasn't disappointed me yet with his movie making.

>Sea World is going to die sooner than later
Nah. They’re slowly morphing into typical theme parks by adding more coasters and other shit that PETA can’t bitch about.

Yeah, they just opened Sesame Street in their Orlando park adjacent to Shamu's stadium, so it's easy to imagine that when the last of those orcas dies, that's gonna be an expansion pad for that.

The only remake I'm curious about is The Sword in the Stone.

Kek

At least Mime was supposed to be creepy.

I haven't seen Dumbo in ages but I remember the crows being bros.

But they acted like black stereotypes of the times!

It's such a nono!

When was the last time Disney made something truly original?

moana was original for them

then why not do some garbage direct to dvd like they use to do.

Barely any marketing. I don't think I even saw a commercial for it.
No one buys DVDs anymore, it's all about streaming.
Though with Lady & the Tramp being Disney+ exclusive they might just do that for any future live action remakes.

>Disney's lineup of original films is never before seen princess flicks.
Okay.

for them, yes

>Though with Lady & the Tramp being Disney+ exclusive they might just do that for any future live action remakes.
Probably not all of them. Stuffs like The Little Mermaid or Peter Pan might still get a theatrical release.

I hate the "GOVERNMENT SEKRIT EXPERIMENT" twist. The "mom" twist was okay, because you could see all the cues, but the "super clone" thing was stupid. They should have been more vague with who the people were.

>You now remember that it was middling at 57 percent
>Then the "LeFou is gay!" announcement came out
>Suddenly it leapt to 85ish
I told everyone RT sucked as an aggregator back in 2011. I'm feeling fucking vindicated right now.

fucking two of the best parts of the original film.

>Fuck this shit, I wanted to hang out with those crows as a kid, better than the fucking shitty gang of circus elephants.

Its the only part of the film I can remember from watching it as a child.

Everything aimed at kids and teens between Cap Marvel and Endgame is probably fucked. Cap marvel left them thirsty for the "last" mcu flick and they won't accept a substitute.

Perceived low risk. Suits like to pretend that they're useful as anything other than middle men so they invent imaginary success-formula like "proven concepts". Read the Sony leaks. It's an fascinating window into their worldview.

Suits would be more useful as paper weights.

Everyone says this until you see what artists do without the suits bearing down on them to meet deadlines and tone down on the crazy shit.
Have a look at what happens to vidya games on kickstarter for some good examples.

What a shocker.

wreck it ralph, zootopia, moana

Shit I thought you were talking about the first movie adaptation. I didn't even realize there was a second one for Wrinkle in Time.

Attached: what the fuck.gif (400x300, 1.07M)

You've got a point there.
m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=kpLX_gMwKms

I still think thats a cool idea for a film.
Its somewhat sad how childrens films have lost the darker edge a lot of older ones had.

Except not a children film.
And it doesn't make much sense.

It is kind of the first adaptation that really has...nothing at all to do with the source material. Just another Tim Burton twisted circus movie as usual.

Why did they choose Dumbo? No one gives a shit about Dumbo .

They need to remake Gargoyles if they want a successful box-office profit.

Attached: the_manhattan_clan_by_spiedyfan_d8n2jy3-fullview.jpg (1024x512, 138K)

Why shouldn't it be a childrens film?

Isn't Jordan Peele already working on one?

We don't know. He got an interview with Disney about it ~5 months ago and went dead silent about it ever since.

>$170M-budgeted pic

Is Disney insane?

>Why did they choose Dumbo? No one gives a shit about Dumbo .

The copyright is about to expire and they wanted to excise "problematic" content like the crows. You can't have Disney properties going public domain.

>Hopefully Aladdin bombs too
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Asia but yes. Then Danny Devito starts a new circus with all of his old members.

With the exception of Jim they were all voiced by black people and Cliff Edwards sang scat so you know he was down with the brothers

Yet another instance of whitey proving how benevolent he is by shielding us poor negros from anything he deems racist

Thats not that great, really. Besides, its more about how a movie has legs than what it makes opening weekends these days.

And pat McHale from Over the garden wall is the writer. I’m really looking foreword too it.

>tracking of imaginary data
yeah that will totally work.

It is compared to anything else coming out that month so shut the fuck up Boco

It's extremely difficult to make cavemen appealing in any fictitious context. The old series got by on pure novelty that has long since expired. You just can't make anything engaging when it's exclusively about unga bunga.

Ed Wood is still the GOAT

Well, there's no way this isn't going to bomb because normies will just assume it's supposed to be a remake of the Disney movie. And also because somebody's gonna fuck the puppet.

Gargoyles could really benefit from a remake. The original series took a pretty steep dive in quality when it became a boat ride to a dozen ridiculous backdoor pilots, and then the last season was so bad it was deemed apocryphal.

based future poster

Remember when Hillary was suggested to win the 2016 election? How do people who track imaginary figures still have jobs after that?

Why are Chinese movie title fonts always so kino?

Are you suggesting there's an active disinformation campaign against Aladdin by Russians, Israelis and Saudi Arabians, as suggested by Donald Trump's own appointed Attorney General as having happened against Hillary Clinton?

Figures you retards would use that one

Remember when Captain Marvel was tracking for $150 million in its opening weekend you know something that's more APPROPRIATE FOR A COMPARISON

>use 100% CGI and destroy the celebrity-industrial-complex.
That is the eventual goal, user.

That’s really low for a Disney remake with Will Smith. What else is opening that weekend?

Absolutely.

Gargoyles would be really dumbed down nowadays.

I'm just saying, apolitically, that Hillary losing the election pretty much completely invalidated an entire field.

Yes in the political field

This isn't politics. Box Office tracking numbers are usually accurate

>direct to dvd

These types of movies got a bad rep when Eisner shoved crappy sequels plus other studios throwing shit a wall to see what stuck. Disney can’t damage the brand with direct to DVD movies. Especially after recovering from the damage Eisner did

>When was the last time Disney made something truly original?

Zootopia and Moana

Man they must feel like idiots right now.

You must be one of those people who reads the end of something before they begin it

>because its less labor intensive then practical effects and traditional animation.

Also you can outsource half of the movie post prod to China and India for cheap, while doing a few parts in house.

>I mean even Maleficent 2 got pushed to this year.

The sequel was announced shortly after the first one, but Disney or Angelina dragged their feet for so many years.

>Beauty & the Beast

Billion dollars

>Jungle Book

Almost a billion dollars.

I'm always surprised to see people argue they should stop making these movies which make a killing people they assume that everyone has the same 'RUIN MUH CHILDHOOD!' beef with them.

It's not about that. My childhood was ruined by my survival into adulthood. It's about churning out an endless tide of soulless, objectively worse adaptations. Disney is flooding the box office with garbage and since they exclusively own cinema now, there's nothing good to see anymore.

>t. pseudo intellect
I agreed with you up until the last sentence.

Remember, Disney originally wanted to adapt Les Miserables, and make it PG

This doesn’t mean the end of them though.
Dumbo tanked because it’s a stupid fucking concept that doesn’t have as much cult following behind it as most other Disney animated classics they can hit you with nostalgia for, like Aladdin

Aladdin is gonna have to do a fuck of a lot to get people’s attention though now that everyone has been - rightfully so - shitting on Will Smith as the genie since day one, and he’s the most loved character from the movie.
Lion king is gonna do amazing (not live action, I know) due to the quality of the source material and the nostalgia. I suspect it will re-affirm to the retards at Disney that these movies “still work” but they’re gonna be too stupid to figure out why still, maybe a bit smarter after two underperforances. But so long as they recoupe their losses with lion king, which they will, Iger is gonna look the other way. I’m curious as to what they’ll do next. Tarzan? Time will tell I guess. Probably a pochahantas and mulan. But once again pochahantas will underperform and mulan will make up for it. And the cycle will continue on and on and on until someone up top dies or some shit. Fuck the mouse
I know I’m gonna get shit for it but the only good shit they turn out anymore is the MCU movies and even then three of their last five movies kinda sucked. I’m definitely not looking forward to eternals either.

I don't remember much about Les Miserables except for how my urine was turning dark orange in the piss bottles I was reduced to using at the time, so I thought I was dying and was kind of okay with it.

who even likes dumbo, and who even knew the movie was coming out? Is it even out? I've heard nothing.

Attached: 1483655908229.png (372x357, 227K)

Mr Mime looks alright

>Posting early tracking numbers as proof in a thread where a film failed to reach it's tracking prediction
Hey smart guy

there was a 2010s realistic style comic run, i'm told it was quite decent

people who track imaginary figures work in all sectors, even ones you'd never imagine, for example a retail chain deciding how many clothes is should purchase by guessing how many will sell. it's called a forecast.

Already a stong contender for the worst movie of the year for me.

pocahontas will either not be remade or it will be a desperate attempt for disney to prove how woke they are now

That sounds really reckless and stupid.

This was the most embarrassing shit. Further proof the Tim Burton still thinks this is 1996.

I see the DChads really can't cry about Marble anymore so they'll whine about non-cartoon elephants.

Still higher rated than Captain Fungus

Being well liked for one

Dumbo was actually good imo, wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being the best of these ugly unnecessary reboots (I'm fucking dreading Lilo & Stitch). I liked how the villain was a cruel caricature of Walt Disney

normies didn't like the Us much

>Disney is now shitting on Walt
will these jews ever stop?

literally what, how else are they going to operate? pre-orders?

If it's Disney it's evil according to DKeks

what are the chances that they make a story very similar to the real one?
pocahontas as a 12 years old dealing with a 40 years old UK pretending to be a hero

Tim Burton had problems with Disney when he worked as an animator there.

hahahaha look at the size of that dome

Attached: E21D6E0E-E813-47F4-A8B5-5ADFFFF023C1.jpg (750x563, 50K)

Does Danny Devito voice Dumbo?

>this much COPE

Russians paid for adverts for Hillary Clinton. China, Europe, Australia, Mexico and Brazil made concerted efforts to influence the 2016 election to elect or get favors from presumptive winner Hillary Clinton.

Stop whining about outside influence on the election because Hillary benefited twice as hard.

>movie set in 1919
>show Empire State Building in background
>10 years before construction even started

disney doesn't care about making adequate family films anymore

marxist propaganda however

What is an "adequate family film" to you

Yeah, because the oscars have a good track record for judging the quality of anything. Have you seen those effects, how uncanny they look? How it's a human face grafted onto a monkey's? How baloo doesn't look like fucking baloo at all? The characters in these stories aren't just animals and simply replicating the most minutia of realistic detail in an animal without any thought for the design or cohesion of the movie isn't impressive, it's just tedious. Movies don't gain anything by becoming a demo reel for new technology. Jurassic park came out like 40 years ago when cgi sucked and it replicated animals too, but that movie is universally well liked and praised for both it's realism in portayal of the dinosaurs, and just it's general quality as a film. But the dinosaurs still aren't conventional characters in the same way that a tank isn't a conventional character in an action movie or how zombies aren't conventional characters in horror: they're just set pieces to move along the plot, and act according to predictable laws, yet, are still incredibly dangerous. They're forces of nature. The point at which you have warped a tank to give it any recognizable human traits, it ceases to be a tank, it becomes a human, a character, the same way herbie is a character. Herbie is a good example of a completely unconventional character in that he is completely lacking in any physical human character traits, but that's part of why it works. It would be uncomfortable if herbie had a realistic human face.

>this much COPE
I literally only told you the conclusions given to us by Donald Trump's very own Attorney General, none of which includes anything that you said. The Russians helped Donald Trump primarily, and the Russians spread disinformation to damage Hillary Clinton primarily. These are the facts the Trump administration gave us.

What the hell are you talking about? There’s plenty of things iconic about Dumbo, don’t confuse that with your personal opinion on the original movie. Problem is that they got rid of the “problematic” aspects in favor of replacing them with Tim Burton tropes. And in any case, Dumbo just doesn’t fit into the remake formula as smoothly as some of the other Disney animations.

They are in fact planning a Mulan. Which they are fucking up.
>Even less historically accurate than the original Disney version
>Remove the songs
>Remove the humour
>Remove the counterpart male, because people keep joking about him being bi
>Remove the villain because they might realise the wall was fucking retarded
>Replace it with a witch instead
It's going to be a disaster.

>stop-motion Pinocchio

Actually doesn't sound too bad. Even Disney's Pinocchio was unpleasant and creepy, might as well have it be remade as full on nightmare fuel that drops all pretenses of being a kids film.

What was Russia's endgame in supporting the president?

But haven't photorealistic CGI animals as characters been a thing since The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe? To me both CGI Bagheera and Baloo worked, although a lot of credits should be given to the kid who played Mowgli.
I will say that The Lion King remake is more tricky because the entire movie depends on believable interactions between the animals since there's no human characters, and the trailers haven't convinced me that they can pull it off.

Not that guy, but a) Putin really hated Clinton personally and thought an amoral buffoon would be more tractable, and b) the current Russian regime is pretty much built on "fighting the evil US" to keep the population pacified while Putin's cronies rob the country blind, so anything causing instability and divisions in the US is welcome. Putin and co. didn't actually expect Trump would win and are probably regretting it now (since he's too dumb and unpredictable to do any foreign policy with), but alas. Putin never liked Trump, mind you; for example, that anecdote Trump kept repeating about Putin calling him briliant was completely wrong; the Russian word Putin used was "colorful/flamboyant" (яpкий), i.e. he said Trump was a clown. In short, it wasn't a conspiracy in any true sense, but a very crude attempt to damage the US and Trump is too dumb and self-absorbed to realize that.
Spoilered for off topic.

You should also mention that this is only with the Russians, who are not the only ones who supported Trump. Israel did a similar operation to get people to continue voting for Trump as well. Clinton would have never treated Israel as well as Trump had recently; moving the embassy to Jerusalem and giving them Golan Heights from Syrian - RIGHT after Syria helped the US drive out terrorists - are gifts no other president would have so freely and purposelessly given as Trump had. To say nothing of Saudi Arabia receiving nuclear secrets, which somehow flew under the radar of the people who yelled about "Uranium 1".

I doubt they'd do Pocahontas. Personally, I think a Hunchback movie would be a good idea.

I'm still upset that this never happened

I bet banging one of those elephants the right way would make them make elephant sounds like you wouldn’t believe. Those loud brassy trumpet blows from their nose as you bust out the sweet surrender in them. Blow that nose while I bust the fattest nut into you, you beautiful big creature

The polls were accurate, though. Those made just before the election were giving Clinton an a edge of about 3-4% in total, which turned out to be statistically correct (she won by 2.1%) - the caveat was that the US doesn't have a simple proportional voting system, so some votes had a bigger weight than others. Moreover, Nate Silver's meta analysis suggested that the chances were 70/30, which aren't exactly overwhelming odds - if you had a one in three chance of getting shot with a live round during a paintball game, you sure as hell wouldn't go playing it.

This little robot was probably the mkst atrocious child actor I've seen in a major Hollywood film.

If you're too much of a retard to plan your campaign strategy around the electoral system that's been in place since the presidency existed, you don't deserve to win and neither do your goonies who thought voting in record numbers in California somehow makes the vote count harder when population is already factored into EC vote assignment.

I still don't know why they added those stupid fucking gargoyles into the movie.

Attached: 1529191120560.png (200x200, 10K)

Why do they bother making these stupidly expensive CGI movies that nobody gives a fuck about? If it's about copyrights expiring why don't they just make some Bollywood-tier garbage and not market them whatsoever so nobody notices when the trash-tier movies come out and die off?

Attached: 1541502675604.jpg (375x375, 39K)

Shouldn't a massive company like Disney have room to take more risks than anyone?

I miss the small-budget movies that were honest and became a hit without relying on ADHD CG overload.

Going by the trailer i think he flies right away its about some big wig circus trying to absorb him into their show

>Why have they made so many?
Money

Can already read the wank posts of Stop-motion fags whining that this movie isn't winning an Oscar.

Imagine referring to stop-motion fags as a group you aren't a part of. Imagine having no taste.

This post took a turn.

Attached: 1552747529009.jpg (413x478, 52K)

when's the last time you've ever even seen a circus

I can see you're jealous but I can't imagine having no taste when i've always had it.

Last week. They set one up near my house in the parking lot of a former car dealership. People still go to circuses. I don't understand.
