Either these episodes are out of order, or this show does an awful job at introducing characters.
A weird old man came out of nowhere with the power of a wind flute, and instead of asking who the hell is that, the kids know the guy. But the audience doesn´t.
I know it´s not like Gravity Falls where the kids just moved in and have to meet everyone, but there still has to be some sort of introduction for the characters instead of just dropping them into you.

Great batch of eps for screencaps.
It's picking up a bit, but none of the stuff so far has any real purpose to it. It's all episodic despite their being continuity with minor things. Also, Victor's VA is really bad with his crying, and Victor cries a lot.

So far, these episodes have been a bit more enjoyable than the first two for the most part.
There were a few parts where I actually laughed, I was shocked.
Despite that, most of the jokes didn't land, which unfortunately seems like it will be the norm for a while.
The show's also not to good at introducing some characters and properly establishing them.
We get bits and pieces, but not enough to really -get- them.
Like with Sal, he seems like kind of an old hippie dude, but we don't get much more than that.
And like, I know they've been living in the town for a while, but I still would have like some proper character establishments
And the show still has pacing problems where everything feels rushed, especially toward the end of some episodes.
If it were 22 minutes instead of 11 I feel like we'd have enough time to properly introduce characters, set up more decent jokes, and be able to properly let things settle or pick up the pace when they need to.
On the positives, it was interesting to see that Don and Chata actually have a relationship and go on dates.
I was wondering why he got so flustered whenever she was mentioned to him.
And Charlene continues to be the most interesting and precious character on the show, her crush on Vic is adorable.
I like how she planned everything out to set up Vic on a date with her, that was really cute.
I like the little moments with her, like how she was so in awe of the artist ghost that Pineapple had to pull her away from danger.
And I'm glad we get to see more of Xochi, she's pretty badass.
She fucking barked back at a dog to fend it off, that was cool.
And she looks really damn good in that dress.
So yeah.
TLDR;
The show is still meh, but I feel like it's sloooowly climbing its way towards decent.
There's some good shit in there underneath all the mediocrity.

Furthermore, I realize that Vic & Val have a dynamic similar to Mordecai & Rigby’s (wiser, dorky type vs. dumber, shorter, mischievous type). But why is it that while Rigby could get obnoxious every now and then, he still managed to be fuckin’ hilarious, meanwhile Victor is almost always just a gross nuisance? I'm seeing quite clearly why Xochi and Charlene (especially) are what people watch this show for - since they are more interesting than our two actual MCs... And no, they're not real, so it's not child porn, like some will try to claim it is.
It's almost kinda like how the best parts of Phineas and Ferb (IMHO) involved Perry and Doofenschmirtz and nobody else. I understand perfectly what's wrong here and I'm only on episode 3 - FUCK.

Bullcrap, I'm with the other user. Being fun is what really matters. People who are turned off from the show will mostly be people who can't abide the art or main characters, not lack of lore. The world will naturally be developed as more and more episodes are pumped out, story-telling happens every episode. In due time we'll have a wikia full of "lore". But the fact the show isn't ham-fisting it by making it deepest lore on the spot is great.
