I feel like the closest We Bare Bears got to ever being "edgy" was in one of the most recent episodes about Panda being in a bubble. Since Charlie swam and even put his tongue directly into toxic waste, I hoping that he would mutate by the end of the episode to shake up the status quo. He didn't of course and now I feel stupid for expecting the show to go through with something cool like that. The episode about Panda going full-on beta uprising was pretty entertaining though. Hope we get more episodes like that instead of the constant baby bear stories.

I've watched some episodes. The only jokes they make are memes and/or anime references.

There was only one that tried to be emotional and failed. The only other one I can think of was Ice Bear's origin and it was good. Panda's was okay.

The show is quite fine during the baby bear episodes. They're charming and they visit interesting people and locales. Most importantly, they have a goal, in stark contrast to the aimlessness of the adult bears.

It's unfortunate that they probably didn't have enough material for the baby bears to be the focus of the show. They probably also needed the celeb voices attached to get the show picked up. Adult Grizz and Charlie are almost insufferable, and Demitry Martin isn't funny without his graphs.

Now there's a controversial opinion. Most people hate the baby bears. I see your point though.

Kek, don’t make me laugh. Steven Universe has a far better use of color palettes, has slicker backgrounds, and actually uses basic character design concepts by giving its characters distinct silhouettes rather than reusing the same body template with a different skin tone, outfit, and hairstyle.

And Craig of the Creek has much more varied and interesting character designs than the shitty copy+paste template designs that WBB has as opposed to the more unique human designs seen in the pilot (seriously, check it out again to remember just how much cooler it looked than the stiff, bland show we ended up getting). The backgrounds on CotC are also vastly superior to WBB’s faux-“watercolor” backdrops.

I don’t know how Daniel Chong—a Pixar story artist—allowed his show to look so fucking drab and boring.
