This. Powergirl is Kara if she could relate to the normal people and often times get jealous by other people's popularity despite her accomplishments and feats. Personally I think they should take a page from the Supergirl TV show and have Red Tornado and PG work together.
Basically Red Tornado is dealing with a series of super tech crimes but he's in over his head so he comes to Peej since she's got a great knowledge of technology combined with super powers.
They get deeper and deeper into the criminal web until they find out it's someone like Tornado Tyrant pulling the strings.
Would give PG a chance to encounter a bunch of villains she never runs into and has to use her smarts to beat them at their own games.

Plus Red Tornado is a robot so you could have him ignore PG's looks unless it's to make wry observations about her effect on others.

I think they could mirror the Earth-2 World's Finest by having main universe Huntress and Power Girl team up. They're both kind of cynical and straight-forward in the way they do things, but whereas Power Girl operates on Metropolis rules, Huntress plays by Gotham rules. It could be an interesting dynamic.

I had an idea very similar to that. Peej kara getting there first, she'd get there second. Have her formerly be part of Kryptonian military and get lumped into Zod's sentience to the Phantom Zone. Can even use this as an excuse for her having "no symbol". Like their father stripping the crest of El from her, claiming she's not worthy of it. Then fast forward decades later she somehow gets out, reunites with her younger sister and cousin, but still takes her father kicking her out of the house of El to heart.
