It’s been forever but I finally decided to get from hole and posting something. Watching Doom Patrol put me in a mood for weird comics so I thought to check the dc imprint and see what’s there. Starting with Bug! and going continuing with the other titles.

No title. That sucks. In the meantime, check out this folder for the Morrison Bat Epic. First going to upload the three huge compendiums that chronicle everything and then the individual trades.

love this title. This and Orion are the best so far New God Revivals.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-003.jpg (1988x3056, 1.27M)

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-004.jpg (1988x3056, 1.45M)

Even if I'm not on-board with the story, I have a feeling the art is going to be worth it.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-005.jpg (1988x3056, 627K)

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-006.jpg (1988x3056, 1.1M)

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-007.jpg (1988x3056, 1.43M)

it's a ride. the trick of the book is that kind of plays off the rumor that Forrager might have been Jack Kirby's take on Spider-man in a couple places.

I'm not familiar with Forager and I already like him.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-008.jpg (1988x3056, 1.14M)

And this is where the story would end for me. Genetic monstrosities and technological marvels that reshape reality, on-board. Ghosts.....fuck no.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-009.jpg (1988x3056, 1.05M)

Now someone refresh my memory, Forager died in cosmic odyssey right?

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-014.jpg (1988x3056, 1.1M)

They should've renamed this series to Jack Kirby's forgotten contributions to DC.

Yup. While I like aspects about Cosmic Odyssey making Orion the blow hard in that comic fucked him up so much. Killing Forager too was also so terrible just well there is so much there for a good recurring character

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-015.jpg (1988x3056, 1.19M)

I wish I had enough knowledge to identify all of these people. I got maybe 4.

What does crushed ants smell like?

I got ya.

Sandman Golden Age and Sandman Bronze age, both takes by Jack Kirby.

Deadman

Black Racer

Manhunter

the Cool Omac and not the Infinite Crisis bullshit

Atlas

Metron.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-018.jpg (1988x3056, 1.27M)

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-019.jpg (1988x3056, 1.33M)

Top row Sandman; Sandy; Black Racer.
Deadman; Manhunter
Omac; Atlas; Metron

My man.

Also how do the other Young Animal titles stack up? I don't remember seeing too many storytimes but also don't remember outright outrage either. Kinda just flew under the radar (especially the most recent event but I'm a good two years out of the loop with comics).

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-020.jpg (1988x3056, 1.35M)

Danm I thought it was Sandy.

Schweet

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-022.jpg (1988x3056, 1.06M)

Oh you're gonna get some golden boy in this, don't you worry.

Inlove Cave Carson. I think was alone.,

I think most of the young animal series are worth a read. Doom Patrol and Cave Carson are the best, Shade is love it and hate it, and the other ones are kind of self indulgent, like I wanted to like the Eternity girl but reading six issues of depression metaphor take that one issue of Sandman with Element woman it just did not resonate.

They were all pretty good, I liked eternity girl best as it pretty much nailed that early vertigo feel.

This plan is worrisome.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-023.jpg (1988x3056, 1.3M)

That is really good to hear. Now I'm looking forward to this storytime. I'm going to do a TPB a day. Next up with be Shade, then Mother Panic, Cave Carson, Doom Patrol, and then Milk Wars. IF peeps could recommend a better order I would love to know. I do have the singles on hand but i do love posting complete collections in one go.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-024.jpg (1988x3056, 1.22M)

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-026.jpg (1988x3056, 1.52M)

Doom patrol was like Gerald Way's fanfic of Grant Morrison's doom patrol but in a good way.
Cave Carson had a tom strong vibe.
Shade the changing girl was amazing ut Shade the changing woman was disappointing.
Mother Panic was basically Batwoman Max.
Milk wars was weird diversion but we got meta jesus elastigirl and some great tie ins.

>Lost metal of mythology.
Is this new or a prior Kirby concept? Did Snyder reference this in Metal? Was Metal worth a read lol

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-027.jpg (1988x3056, 1.17M)

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-028.jpg (1988x3056, 1.38M)

And here it is. Orion never insults Forager- it’s fucking Lightray. This really grills my cheese.

Where the fuck did that hole come from?

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-029.jpg (1988x3056, 1.21M)

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-030.jpg (1988x3056, 726K)

Mother Panic was the only one not worth bothering with.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-031.jpg (1988x3056, 1.18M)

I would love to read Cave Cardon tonight, but you do it your way.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-032.jpg (1988x3056, 958K)

Thanks for understanding. I tried to set it up so we would start with the less event/lore heavy series and then ramp up with Cave and Doom Patrol before getting into Milk Wars (which I know nothing about other than its ridiculous title so I'm excited...I think).

>Was Metal worth a read lol
No, it was like Scott Snyder's fanfiction of Grant Morrison's work at DC but in a bad way.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-036.jpg (1988x3056, 1.33M)

Why the fuck is he gripping a Thompson by the barrel instead of by the forward grip that is literally right there?

New concept.

Is Milk Wars associated with Multiversity in any way shape or form?

let's see.

-Superboy(Connor Kent) his run is basically a Jack Kirby homage book where the protagonist is Spider-man learning responsibility way later.
-the blue beetles
-The Ray II
-Tim Drake(Chuck used his series to do a take on Spider-man drama)
-Kyle Rayner
-The Forager

anyone want to put more?

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-060.jpg (1988x3056, 1.45M)

No, not directly

There's their Spider-Man analogs in Earths 7 and 8.
I suppose one of them would be Miles.

>Namby pamby
O shit

Finally. This comic got me intop mike allred and the forager. Good on you user

Makes sense. Been meaning to read this

Would Dick Grayson count?
>acrobatic
>optimistic
>quips
>and an ass you can bounce a quarter off of

yeah those guys only showed up for a couple panels though. So I forget they are a thing. But Batman Beyond as well. He's basically Spider-man but trained by Batman.

sometimes, DC for there part have been trying to make him there Daredevil for a couple years.

Don't forget Sideways

Orichalum goes back to Plato, at least. It’s an ancient concept.

I feel bad about that now.

others who might fit.

-Flash Wally west version for a while he had that whole down on his luck thing going.
-Static Shock for his universe if the rights get settled.
-the Tarantula and Black Spider are examples of having character do Spider-man things for a story but are 1:1, but for the most the GA Tarantula now is more of a Golden Age Spider-man take thanks to All Star Squadron.

>Atlas has bit of a "first issue"
Comic book puns, I love them!

Sign number two that at least one of the Allreds is a massive weeb.

>allred is a huge weeb counter: 2

so basically it's the first 2 vols of each, 2 vols of doom patrol that lead in to milk wars, then eternity girl, followed by the sequel books (shade the changing woman/cave cason has an interstellar eye/mother panic gotham AD) alternatively you could just do each series (the 3 trades in a row) so as to not lose any story info but it's dealer's choice

I vote yes.

I like this paring way more than I initially thought.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-067.jpg (1988x3056, 1.37M)

There's an obscure one shot in a single panel Batman villain called veinaic who swings around using his veins.

The first one.
1. Bug
2. Shade, Changing Girl
3. Mother Panic
4. Cave Carson - Cybernetic Eye
5. Doom Patrol
6. Milk Wars
7. Eternity Girl
8. Changing Woman
9. Mother Panic: Gotham AD

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-068.jpg (1988x3056, 1.54M)

10. Cave Carson Interstellar Eye

Well this escalated quickly.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-071.jpg (1988x3056, 1.45M)

Perfect description. I also love how fast Bug and Atlas accepted that a horde of snakes could mass shapeshift and hold moral values on slavery.

Bug of murder.

Orion is just looking at his phone. He’s gone over his data limit.

Well this was a spectacular turnaround

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-081.jpg (1988x3056, 1.15M)

That's not how that happened, Orion wasn't even remotely mean towards Bug and they were driendly before Starlin decided making him hate bugs and making the term bug be the N-word for Forager's people.

Other than the Orion shitting this is a good story.

J'onn daring John Stewart to kill himself was pretty bad too. I guess Starlin tried to pass it as tough love type of moment but it made J'onn look like an asshole.

The art was good, but it's Mignola so of course it is.

Bug, you just became so much cooler in my eyes. If I ever was put in charge of a Justice League book I'd be sure to include you.
>The series would be called Justice League: D Squad
>The premise is that Superman approaches Blue Beetle and asks him to personally lead his own picked JL team. Superman sees the world globally and realizes Beetle will create a "personable" team with greater internal trust than standard JL.
>Team members include Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Forager, Element Woman, Wild Dog, Zatanna, and Black Canary. I have no idea why this team but I like it.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-082.jpg (1988x3056, 1.08M)

Motherboxes are pretty much New God smart phones.

Should I post Cosmic Odyssey after Young Animal? I'm starting to feel like I should.

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-083.jpg (1988x3056, 1.36M)

God, no. Or if you do, for maximum (you) make sure the cover is in the OP

Attached: Bug! The Adventures of Forager-084.jpg (1988x3056, 1.29M)

I like it user, I think they can work well with each other

If I start early enough I can do Cosmic Odyssey like mid-day when I get off work and then do a Young Animal thread after. Also I'm going to be more on the ball posting links to comics in these threads. Going to try at the very least to have those images compiled as well as prior issues.

>if anything he should be suing us for trademake infringement
Love it

orichalcum is an age old concept from the greeks, supposedly atlantis was made of orichalcum

A cat-rat is fine too...

Suddenly that Yu-Gi-Oh filler arc makes more sense.

I feel like they could to. The only ones I don't have as strong of an understanding of are Element Woman and Wild-Dog. I picked Element Woman for her power-set as that makes her a top tier member (along with Zatanna - Canary is a beast but maybe not that level). I also love the idea of Wild-Dog but I have next to no knowledge beyond his appearance on Arrow and a few pages from Cave Carson. His design though is pure sex and the idea of a DC Casey Jones is more than enticing. Would love any recommendations for either character.

As I understand, Wild Dog is Punisher on a budget, but I haven't even watched him on Arrow because I don't fucking watch Arrow.

Gotta love Deadman

Glad to hear it user, little series like this are like the liver of DC.
Underrated but essential.

>but I haven't even watched him on Arrow because I don't fucking watch Arrow.
Smart decision. I haven't watched Arrow in years so maybe it got better, but I feel it peaked with Season 2. I do need to go back and rewatch the DC-CW universe from start to meow.

Oddly enought hearing the tale end of 4 stars out of 5 by the arctic monkeys goes well with the last couple of pages of this comic

Due they're pretty cheap on ebay i got mine for like 12.49, but his shield is really small and the fabirc kinda brings down his mobility, aisde form that I love it

Looks like Trouble to me.

Spoiler at your own risk.
I hate to ask in this thread but,
Is Bug dead? I think I remember him dying due to Orion in Tom King's Mister Miracle series. Because if so fuck that shit. Why must King insist on breaking his toys?!?!?! Just see Heroes in Crisis. The idea behind it is beautiful and haunting, the execution just leaves so much to be desired.

I honestly don't know

it wasn't real.

Ok cool

My fucking man. Thank you for clearing that up. Bug is now in my top ten easily for DC characters.

I'm also really excited for the next upcoming Young Animal arc. If it came down to it, would it be preferred that I post Mother Panic or Shade, The Changing Girl (stll gotta post Cave Carson and Doom Patrol last).

>I'm also really excited for the next upcoming Young Animal arc
Young Animal ain't coming back and we all know it.

I mean in the context of this storytime. I still gotta every other title to go. Kinda weird to know though that the title is dead so in essence I'm doing everything from start to finish.....hopefully people find enjoyment!

I really liked this series. It's weird but at the same time has a certain charm and warmth that is lacking in the something like the most recent Mr. Miracle run.

His story was a nice counterpoint to Orion's story in the original New Gods run. You had the sturm und drang of Orion's battles with the forces of Apocalypse and then you had Forager who was just trying to figure out who he was.

I do find it interesting that Cosmic Odyssey is the jumping off point for this tale since it is often as not retconned away in the minds of a lot of 4th World fans.

Yeah just like a web shooter! But well later incarnations mostly the 70's gave him more Spider-man like poses and looks. Not 1-1 but it's there.

He was in the last episode of Batman the Brave and the Bold if you care.
Adventure Bug was also in this Starfire solo from 2015.

In the original New Gods Orion does say, "Hah! It's a "bug"! You've caught yourself a lowly "bug"!
But that was before Forager took off his mask and showed them he was a New God.

In Cosmic Odyssey Batman tells everyone of Forager's sacrifice and Orion quips, "Well how do you like that?! Who would have thought the Bug had it in him?"

And then Batman socks him one. I agree it is a bit wonky, character wise for Orion.

Yeah, the ending is really what put it over the top for me.

Oh man, this is all SOOOO Mormon. Of course it helps that Jack Kirby adapted Biblical symbolism and allegory in a science fictiony way. I think the fact that Mormon cosmology reads like science fiction is probably why there are so many SF and comic writers that are LDS including the Allreds.

I really wanted to like the character, but, I was already heavy into one spider-hero.

Well since I brought it up for reference let's do a history. A history of Spider-man likes by DC and the companies DC bought. The Blue Beetle created by Steve Ditko aka Ted Kord series back in the 1960's act as kind of lost Ditko Spider-man stories. The sense that he was out gunned by most thing and used his smarts to take them down. He even later reveled his identity to his love interest.

Attached: 669137.jpg (320x486, 68K)

Blue Beetle III Jaime Reyes, Jaime acts as kind of a contrast to Spider-man. One problem he has is that people just assume he's Spider-man and have him act like it not knowing how different his series actually is.One aspect is his very Guyver aspect of his stories.Still Jaime is great because of his contrast to the classic Spider-man status quo and willingness to break it.

Now let's get to star of the storytime and the rumor. One of the big Kirby truther rumors as I call them is that Jack Kirby created Spider-man, which is very hard to actually prove. While it is known that Jack was brought in to help design Stan Lee didn't like it and got Steve Ditko to do it instead regulating Jack to do the cover for Spider-man's first appearance. That is stuff we know for sure, it is believed that Steve made the costume in fact there is mock up of Jack's Spider-man out there somewhere but they look that similar. Still Jack felt he creative say there.

So when New Gods was made it was very easy to tell that it was kind of a sequel to his stuff at Marvel, not just Thor, Black Racer can fill in for Silver Surfer, so why not his take on Spider-man? He's a bug out against the world trying to figure out who he is. A cosmic everyman who might be hated because he's a bug. The Spider-man stuff is there to an extent but deniable as well.

Amazing art like seriously 11/10 but a so-so story.

One of the weirdest Spider-man likes is of course Superboy, the 90's clone. Why? Well here's the truth the Superboy is basically what if Spider-man was never Peter Parker and focused on showboating, Instead of one moment Superboy get's MOMENTS. Not only that Karl Kesel his creator used it to explore Jack Kirby concepts before they came back in vogue like Cadmus and even Omac. If the Parallels were not obvious on who they where doing a take off on look at this page, some of the poses are copied from Spider-man books. There was a reason besides the clone thing he fought SPider-man in Marvel vs DC. Still if you like Jack Kirby lore the 90's Superboy is kind of a treat for this stuff.

>the fucking RED BEE is a real golden age weirdo

I love Kyle(crab mask and all) but he was kind of obvious a take on Peter Parker.dead girl, lived in New York and as an artist an unstable job. Still for his part in the GL mythos he helped ground GL and without Jjones would not have good around work for the color wars.

Static Shock while not technically a DC character is still kind of important. Out of all of them he was the first one in a long while that tapped into that down on his luck high school kid. While I think his problem is sometimes he's very after school special Dwayne set out to make a 90's Spider-man and it for the most part.

Did someone say BEEEEEES?

Attached: 5872113-img_4466.jpg (679x446, 165K)

His great grand niece who turned into an alien bee queen is less of a weirdo.

Bug, Booster Gold, and any Blue Beetle would be an unstoppable and enjoyable team.

DR BEEEEES

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS

It's incredibly trite and cliched that it was an autistic little girl.
I still cried though

>autistic little girl
That's not a nice thing to call jesus.

Beedom.

How is Kuzuko Jesus?
I still need to read the book those Mormons gave me, but I don't think that's in there, somehow.

And Terry McGinnis

>Bug
Wait so are these the bigger connection between new gods and captain victory?
Like ragnarok is the connection from thor to dc?
Btw is Kirby one example that the hypertime is crosscompany wide?

New Hypertime theory
Conan the barbarian was the inspiration for atlas, which was the inspiration of He-Man!

I loved this book.

This

Mid day lunch bump! Shame I can't post at work.

...

>not the Infinite Crisis bullshit
What?

During Infinite Crisis, Batman was responsible for creating Brother Eye, as a result of his ever expanding paranoia over everyone with superpowers.
Brother Eye went rogue and started peppering the planet with nanobots that would take over a person's body to become OMACs to enforce his will.

Fucking Geoff Johns ruins everything. Hell why is DC so hellbent on ruining Kirby's work for them?

Ah yeah.
I liked this book, mostly once I realized it's a love letter to a lot other small time forgot comics.
Like it giving the original OMAC story an ending.

>"You're a hairy handed gent."
The references just don't stop!

Great movie.

Its nice to see a proper conclusion to that story, much better than that last minute text panel of everyone dies.
