Craig of the creek is easily one of my favorite shows on tv right now. It has the kid lore that I always loved from shows like hey arnold and recess and I find myself laughing at the jokes more than I would any other show.

Can you like something and not be a fan? Craig of the Creek is good but there's something off about the whole thing that kept me from fully jumping on board. It's the same something that keeps that bear show from being great.
World building is probably the better term. The creek has some sort of society and there's groups of different kids doing their own thing all over. Off the top of my head, we saw a group of kids with their own cardboard town plus another group running their own kingdom in the drainage pipes. There's also something going on with another creek that might bring them all into conflict.
It's not that deep but seeing it build is pretty cool.
Reminds me of an anecdote from reader's digest about how the local watering hole that the sender played in as a child with other kids got bulldozed and turned into a playground.

Honestly, sometimes it feels like being a casual fan can be more enjoyable than being a hardcore one (especially in franchise shows). The ones that would enjoy a show then wait for the next episode instead of those who would dissect and probe some deeper meaning/shipping crap.
back when i was a kid i had a solid 5-6 years of doing shit IRL with my mates, we lived a the bottom of a mountain, so we would go up there and make clubhouses out of stacks of pallets that would be dumped up there (way before they had any value as hispters were still years away) or ride bikes over jumps we made with compacted dirt, or track enchiladas and wombats the run away from them when we found them to be angry, shit was fucking cash, but my god computer games are WAY better, we did all those things because we were bored, the kind of boredom that didn't end, so you made plans, you would gather the wooden pallets for 2-3 days then haul them all back to wherever you decided would be the new clubhouse, spend 2 weeks making it out of rope and sticks to hold it all together, then abandon it a week later because the fun part was making it, and then a bunch of teens had moved into it to smoke or jack off, so you start again, or you swap activity, honestly, craig of the creek recaptures that feel of childhood, but its sort of lacking the boredom that defined it.
a few of us went back to camp on that mountain as a 25 birthday a few years back, found the remains of an old clubhouse (some rings of rocks and a few bike jumps) but the locals called the cops almost immediately after we sat down, apparently no-one goes up there anymore except joggers or hikers just passing through.

I don't know, I personally like it. It's not extra funny or anything but I really enjoy the setting and the characters. It's charming and interesting and has potential, and the execution is top notch.
It gets called poor man's Clarence a lot but I find it a lot better than Clarence, at least the characters, voices, stories, visuals, aren't aggressive on the senses.

As much as I liked Clarence (unlike most of Yea Forums.), I can proudly admit this show is much better. You only have to watch a handful of episodes to see why, too.
My take: smart protagonists, endearing writing & execution, and good worldbuilding always lead to positive results. Even (if not especially) in simple SOL shows, which THIS otherwise is.

I'm kind of sick of hearing the complaint that Craig is bland. Craig has got a lot going on inside of his character. He's obsessive and selfish and fascinated with cartography and exploration and engineering. I don't think Craig of the Creek is getting the credit it deserves for being a show about kids with huge imaginations doing fun kid stuff-- time machines, cardboard box citadels, all kinds of 2x4 technology influenced stuff happening in this show alongside more grounded elements of kid-culture, like Magic cards and weird cliques.
Craig of the Creek takes a lot of things I liked about Clarence, Ed Edd and Eddy, and Recess, and mashes them together. It's not better than all three of those shows combined but it's definitely not as bad as the hate. People are just buttmad about the art being so clean and round (which is fair?) but that totally disregards how great the colors and backgrounds are.
tl;dr I am always excited for new episodes of Craig of the Creek and I can't think of a good reason why any of y'all wouldn't be.
