Any theories as to what Caroline and Vergil are? I thought they might be like weird vampires, but I'm not so sure.

Kinda both of these anons ideas. Certainly some kind of paranormal being that preys on human emotion similar to a sucubus. This series works really well as a month to month story. Binging these characters is a bit much.

Brian O'Malley has a gift in making the most unlikeable characters in fiction.

And snotgirl seems so unaware of how objectively terrible all the characters are. Like at least in scott pilgrim Scott suffered for his flaws.

the generals for this comic are always so barren, does anyone even read let alone buy this comic? how is it staying afloat?

She doesnt, this is a co project. Her friend is selling the clothes probably while Lottie is bringing in the customers.

I'm thinking it could be like the original idea of the vampire, where they don't suck out your blood but suck the soul out of you. Caroline might be feeding off the negative energy that both Lottie and Meg must emit at an alarming rate. Fashion types are such sad, vapid people that they must be easy targets for her. Once she's taken enough of their time and life, she just has Virgil dispose of them.

But there must be some kind of weird magic and bigger group at play here. Lottie's pills, people's conflicting memories, Caroline mentioning other people watching/cleaning up for her.

And I think that Lottie might have some kind of unaware manipulative magic too. Everyone around her are all simultaneously annoyed by and obsessed with her.
