it's contagious because you always touch your eyes. dunk it in some stomach acid, it's gonna die. and if it didn't, you'd get infected anal hairs before you'd get pinkeye

If you ingest it you're unlikely to get it that way, that's true.
But it's not unreasonable for you to end up with it if you hang around someone who has it too long. Washing your hands is usually just a good idea overall.
