The Rasticore stuff started late Season 2. I know she had him try to kill Star and Marco earlier that season, but she wasn't practically fucking his arm his first appearance. And yeah I agree with you.
Or even I can believe they planned for Heinous to be related to the still-unrevealed character with spades from her first appearance, since Star and Moon have the red card suits and are mother and daughter and so having the same relation for the characters with the black suits actually makes a lot of sense. But I don't think they had anything about Eclipsa beyond "there will eventually be a character with spade cheeks" planned in S1.
Heinous never really came off as being a monster until S3 when they made her one. Like even when her cheek marks reappear in St. Olga's it's treated like that's it and that's all she's hiding, not that she has much freakier biological stuff going on too. They also have her just using makeup in S2 even though in S3 it seems like she can shift her own appearance, but then they also mention the makeup in S3? I don't get it.
I feel she was always planned to be related to Eclipsa, but the monster stuff was more of a last-minute thing, like Star's getting into monster rights now so we need someone to be a monster too. For sure they had it in mind as soon as Into the Wand, I was even one of those anons who theorized then Heinous could be Eclipsa's daughter because she had some features of Globgor, but they still did kind of a shitty job hinting at that in the actual show because it was mostly a crack theory until Monster Bash.

I guess my point is that Eclipsa just seems to be using the position of queen to do shit for herself, but when Star actually tries to get things functioning right she receives all of the blame when it's Eclipsa's own selfish decisions or lack of action that caused that.
I'd bet those dancers were already in the temple as Eclipsa's slave labor, just like how she has a gallery of Globgor art and pictures of herself. It wasn't like Star traveled Mewni seeking them out, or she would have known about the Dance of Death in the first place. She used what was already there and is blamed for not knowing about history from hundreds of years before her time (but not Eclipsa's).
Star was forced to take over as queen there because Eclipsa found it more important to be sitting outside poking through dirt. I'm sure the transition team is still there, they probably even brought the dancers in, because I refuse to believe Eclipsa would take the time to do any work by herself.

Star broke up with Marco and then Marco broke up with the mermaid and ran off to mewni. Then Star made him her personal slave and started to date Tom, but then kissed Marco and didn't tell him. Tom found out anyway and Star got mad for him for finding out but got over it after Tom apologized to her for Star cheating on him. Then Kelly told Marco that he should come over to her place to make sandwiches or something.
But yeah, Marco is basically Stars slave and doesn't have any say on anything and has to obey Stars every whim or she trows shitfit and waves her former rank at him telling him to "just do it".
Theres also something to be said from the fact she constantly ignores him and her first response on hearing him scream for help is to angrily shout "I'm busy" and slam the door, and in general teat him like shit.

Marco has abandoned his family, friends, girlfriend and goals to live as Star's "squire" (which is not even a real title) in a different dimension where everybody ignores him unless he wears a dress.

His character is pointless and his actions have no importance in the plot. At least, Moon and Eclipsa care about him.

5. On a more meta level the writers thought this'd be cute. Wrong. From episode 1, Marco has labeled himself as a misunderstood bad boy. This was further exemplified RWS, where he was willingly going to live out his days in Hekapoo's dimension, regardless of friends and family, effectively achieving everything he wanted out of life. Yet the key that brought him back was Star. It's no surprise that he ends up chasing her again, forsaking all previous aspects. If you think it had to do with "knights", or "healing a broken heart after being dumped" you're fucking kidding yourself. His heart had already longed to return to Star's side and the life of fun, adventure, and companionship. The cape/meat-blanket was just a physical manifestation of that desire.

Really the whole series should be awesome with a magical realm realm of knights, monsters and royalty, multiple kingdoms all throughout the land with a race of monsters that can be credible villains with a somewhat complex history of relations between them. On top of which you also have the sci-fi element of different dimensions accessible by magical scissors only granted to either those who earn them fairly or great leaders of said dimensions. This opens the door for insanely imaginative worlds and peoples with unlimited possibilities of what kind of stories you could tell, anything from sword and sorcery barbarian tales, to hightech futuristic fiction to more mundane stories on earth if they really wanted to.

But what do we get, the earth setting that gets abandoned after 2 seasons and a magical kingdom that feels empty with no depth to it at all. Then when the show tries to add depth it instead comes across as the most shallow details imaginable. I get the feeling that Nefcy saw all these things other people had done such as the aforementioned kingdoms and dimensions and wanted to do that, but she never really had a full understanding of all of the parts to make the whole and so instead just crammed it all together haphazardly. Then when she just never took advantage of any of the potential that the concepts could have had, instead preferring to play it safe with character drama and love triangles that don't really go anywhere.
There are characters of high power in that world that could almost be tolkienesque if they were executed right but instead they just job to the next villain that comes along to show how powerful this bad dude is.

I guess it's either a situation where the outlines given to the boarders by the writing team were already so inherently shitty/different from each other that they just had to write them as given and ignore the discrepancy, or the boarders were shitty enough that they couldn't think of a way to more naturally connect the two and so just went to extremes with Marco being unwanted, OR the director just didn't give that much of a fuck. Maybe some combination of all of these.
No matter which it just proves the S3 plot just isn't that tight. I want to blame the inherent overarching plot more than anything, but I feel that the boarders could have at least made these episodes more entertaining or believable too.

The finale had a lot of Star being obviously affectionate with Marco and a moment where she puts everything on hold to attempt to revive him. Since Tom finds out there that she and Marco kissed it kind of comes off like he's aware he might end soon and is okay with that because they're all friends now or something.
BUT it's possible that user is thinking of how in the original storyboard thumbnails, there was going to be a scene where Tom sees Star and Marco hugging after the Meteora battle, looks at them with a sad kicked-puppy cuckold expression, and seems to accept that this is his life now before walking over to them. That didn't make it into the final episode, maybe because they realized that the literal life-or-death situation didn't actually need ship shit.

Everything about their interactions in Battle For Mewni made it seem like they already HAD resolved their awkwardness. I mean they had Marco clearly enjoying the fact that Star was flirting with him. The idea that he would go back into panic mode and just ignore Star's crush was just hack writers reversing the progress that had been made because it was "too soon" for the main characters to hook up.
I guarantee that if the show hadn't gotten a 4th season, Tom would've never factored into season 3 in any significant way. Jarco might have lasted slightly longer but they would've still broken up before midseason and Starco would've been official going into the 2nd half of the season.
That's what they SHOULD have done anyway. Just continue with the original plan and then come up with something new for season 4.
