yes and no, in the lead up to this X-Men Disassembled they go to AOA for an issue and that where X-Man gets the idea to Age of X-Men with Legion's powers after David spill the beans that he created that universe.

it's a 10 issue fight scene, it's not good as a primer to the X-Men but it sets up Age of X-Man and the return of Cyclops and Wolverine perfectly

the main difference is X-Man isn't infected with the Techno Organic Virus so he has a full range of his powers where Cable is constantly using his telekinesis to keep his virus at bay at a molecular level.
