The 2nd point is easy to explain since raava is the direct source of the power for all the previous avatars in the first place. The other points are just them not giving a fuck.

When Roku explains the Avatar state he shows a montage of previous Avatars performing impressive feats of bending, with the very obvious visual implication that the Avatar state is taking the skills of the previous avatars and adding them on top of each other cumulatively.
There's no way to look at that and think "They must just all be tapping into an octopus that lives inside them"

But frankly the fact that it creates contradictions isn't really the point, the retcons and contradictions could be worth it if it added something of worth and was used to create something cool.
But Raava isn't cool, the Wan story does nothing to make the story better, all it does it remove all the mystique and mythology of the series and replace it with something dry and technical.
Raava existing does nothing except render the entire concept of the Avatar lame and mundane.

Porn artist here, for change of personality, this is a gradual thing and a lot of the time it evolves from just not knowing how the character would react in certain situations so that interpretation is the original contaminant. As for appearance, some characters are abstracted in an ugly way and I'm trying to jack it.

I'm very guilty, but in my defense, it was not intentional, and happened over time.
I've been drawing the character for such a long time, and every iteration gets just a bit sluttier. Commissions asking me to draw them in fetishistic situations don't help.
It's honestly kinda distressing to me, because the kind of stuff people expect and ask me to draw nowadays does not line up with canon at all, and I'm actually a big sucker for canon-accurate porn

MLP's Trixie was a once-off character that appeared in one of the earlier episodes. Her deal was that she combined real magic with stage magic to make it look like she could do anything, and was a huge boaster. So in fanon, she commonly got portrayed as ultra-lonely (because she was a jerk) with no confidence (because people like to think of braggarts as hiding insecurities) and who was constantly messing up (because after the first two, making her a full Woobie made sense) and who was basically the protagonist's rival (because, well, protagonist).

But she was also suuuuper popular, so the staff reintroduced her as a secondary character in a much later season. ...Where she was ultra-lonely, with no confidence, who somehow managed to REGRESS in magical ability, and basically her only driving force (until she makes a friend) was to get back at the protagonist.
