Not at all. His powerset is too subtle for the modern world.
The One Ring is slow long term psychic manipulation and there are too many heroes who will figure it out quickly and stop it. Not sure about his physical combat ability but a human beat him one on one so I can't see him as much of a threat.

It takes them no more than an 8-issue limited series to finish the job. Highlights include Diana soloing a Balrog and fucking John Constantine tricking Sauron into letting go of the ring for a brief moment. Upon which the multitude of Flashes either Mount Doom it, or a combination of Firestorm and Zatanna re-creates magical lava that melts it off his hand.

Sauron is absolutely, categorically fucked. Sauron as an entity is reliant on a rapidly produced army of inferior jobber orcs, goblins and other assorted things that are only dangerous in mundane close quarters combat or massed sieges. Sauron lacks any personal powers beyond being able to 1v1 almost anyone in a melee duel so long as he doesn't get the One Ring cut from his fingers again as well as the potential ability to be pseudo-immortal due to the One Ring. In addition to all of this, all of what he has stems from inheriting it from Melkor whom was in every way a bigger threat. Sauron is the bargain version of Melkor in an age where everything has stagnated and gotten duller, which is the only reason Sauron is a relevant villain. Even if the portals led to regular mundane Earth, not even the DC Universe, Sauron would be fucked in short order. Orcs can't fuck with armies equipped with modern military equipment. Roll a few Abrams and send a few jets in, napalm Mordor into an even more scorched wasteland and call it a day. Even some of the most basic bitches of the DC universe would probably roll over Sauron's armies. I'm hard-pressed to think of a pathetic enough DC character to drive home the point but off the top of my head; fucking Plastic Man could win this fight.
