>fourth wall breaks without any punchline besides the fourth wall being broken
We get it, you're self aware. It's not very impressive anymore. Cartoon characters have been breaking the fourth wall since Loony Tunes was new. Meta jokes can be funny, no doubt, but just saying some shit like "What do you think this is, a cartoon?" and having the characters glance at the screen briefly is old and stale.

In fact, I would add that a lot of subversions are more stale than the cliche they're posting.

>character brings up a trope
>"we're not gonna do that"
>scene cuts to them doing said trope

Why do Hollywood and women hate men so much, bros? Should we become gay to rebel?

It’s just Hollywood and they are just mentally messed up all around and out of touch
Either way
>Imagine not enjoying the bi life

The worst thing is when people online act like this sort of shit is inherently smart just for being meta.

>All the villains are sympathetic and dindu nuffin wrong
Jesus fuck, honestly sympathetic villains are a meme that people think makes writing better than it is.

Because a cliquish subculture is all about trying to our progressive their enemies. Self righteousness is a hell of a drug.

>show focuses so much on deepest lore that it forgets to have a story
More of a trend than a trope, but it still gets tiresome.

>main character is supposed to be unapologetic
>he apologizes anyways
Why did this show run for 8 seasons and why do people nostalgia over it?

It fucking happend to Star vs and I’m still seething

>instead of showing a true representation of such behavior writers make the character say something INCREDIBLY retarded in the most improbable context ever.
Jesus Christ it's like writers never actually talked irl with an awkward person.

Can’t wait for this shit era of feminist prudishness to end so all the sexual frustrated zoomers can make the next generation of lewdly designed cartoon characters to corrupt the youth with.

Trailer park boys, I see?

I stand by Phineas and Ferb being one of the few cartoons to actually pull this episode premise off

For once I'd like to see a realistic depiction of a Yea Forums-tier autist. I don't care if the character is portrayed sympathetically or as the butt of the joke. I'm just getting tired of seeing all of these "socially awkward" characters that are squeaky, adorable, "muh pure", and just slightly shy.

I was thinking of Seinfeld after Larry David despite the show still having top tier episodes like pic related.

It is a trope I hate, but damn I love s2ep5 of Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends.

That is a third of all Bob's Burgers episodes and it is horrible.

Not really a trope I hate but something that took me by surprise as a kid and I don't think any other show has done it.

They are live action nickcoms, it’s not like they were of any value even before the storylines devolved into relationship drama.

>thing happens
>status quo makes it so the thing might as well have never happened
>repeat every episode

>villain is cool so far
>protagonist defeat villain
>villain starts to beg for mercy, cry, just a coward with no conviction
It's the laziest way to discredit a villain's ideas, an ad hominem because countering their points in a convincing yet entertaining way would require actual thought and effort.

>The strawman villain actually raises a good point? Oh shit what do we do?!
>Oh, I know. Let's have him do something unabashedly evil for literally no reason so that we can hang it over his head and not have to address his actual arguments!

>boys vs girls episode
>girls are too busy clawing at each other’s throats over petty shit to actually make progress or accomplish anything

>The first post is the Boys vs Girls trope

gets me every time

STAMOS!

>Main character is a well meaning archetypal hero
>Secondary protagonist/side character is written a little more gray/morally dubious
>Everyone shits on the main character like he's the root of all problems
>Side character is treated like a moeblob perpetual victim that can do no wrong

Attached: wack.gif (378x231, 18K)

The Office? It was already a cartoon by season 4 or 5.

>main character makes a small and easily forgivable mistake
>rest of the cast treat main character like utter shit and act like he masterminded the Holocaust
>main character has to redeem himself by humiliating himself
>rest of the cast reluctantly forgive him
>even though they treated him much fucking worse when looking at the mistake MC made

Attached: I've Had It!.jpg (1280x720, 112K)

Nope. But holy shit what were those later seasons of The Office.

>that fucking arc where jim and pam were having relationship problems and one of the documentary crew members started hitting on pam

As far as I know Johnny Test is the only show to do this but whatever it's still annoying.
