A big part of the reason why it was necessary for Captain Marvel to be successful wasn't that she was going to get a sequel (which she was), but that there were going to be MORE female heroes introduced after proving they could be big hits.
Unfortunately a lot of people are so entrenched in their divisive mentality that they couldn't see the big picture. Either way, Ms Marvel was pretty much a given, Brie Larson pushed for it and Kevin Feige said she was part of the plan also. And with her, there will be many others.

I disagree because I believe the point was never to show her as not having weaknesses or emotional depth, but as someone who's been living a lie and how she needs to break from these literal and metaphorical shackles that she, as a powerful person and as a woman in a society she faces. But ultimately what I believe impedes this sort of reading for many is that they cannot accept that she's powerful from the start unlike other heroes who have had a certain growth and have reached their current status after getting upgraded or whatever (like Thor), and while I completely understand what they're getting at, unfortunately I cannot agree because... Well, she's pretty powerful, we literally just had a storytime showing those things:
And from now on, when characters like the Silver Surfer or Nova post-Annihilation or Quasar (hopefully) show up, it's gonna be difficult to reconcile the idea that they have to "struggle" in order to get where they are, when their weaknesses and burdens come from within. And that's unavoidable, really, cosmic-tier characters are fucking powerful and hard to match. But the feminism in the movie I consider it actually well done, because it explores a different facet of it (realizing your potential despite the gaslighting), whereas other movies often fall for the "prove your worth/prove you're as strong as a man but don't let your femininity behind" cliche that has become a template for the "strong female character".

I've been playing tabletops for 15 years, and most of my groups were either 100% male or had a token female who showed up irregularly. With the advent of shit like Critical Role and such, though, there are a lot more women playing. My current group has more girls than guys, five to four including the DM.
It has its pros and cons. They take notes a lot more regularly and seem more engaged with the plot threads, but seem to have trouble distancing their own feelings and opinions from their characters' motivations. Also, one of them broke into tears when her character died and the GM pussied out and retconned it on the spot, but that's more his failing than hers.

Yo, we had a star wars campaign that was fun.
To cut a long story short, one of my favorite moments was how our ragtag group took over a star destroyer by ramming into its dock while it was unloading thousands of tie fighters, using the confusion to sneak away into the mess hall which was pretty empty, using that mess as our staging area to take control of the ship, and then finally getting me (a security droid that just so happened to have cracked a bunch of important code cylinders to the bridge so I could jack in and open all doors in the ship in an effort to eject literally fucking everything.
Not sure if it was faithful to canon, but we honestly went in expecting to wipe (including the DM) and came out with only half our party dead.

Wow you are all stupid. It's okay for Muslims to have a dog, but they don't let them live in their house because of the fact that they make messes, urinate, and drip saliva in the house. When a Muslim prays 5 times a in their house it has to be clean all the time. Adding a dog in the house would not only make a mess but you would have to clean the house all the time before you can pray. That's why they have ogs sleep outside

For what it's worth, a lot of the D&D love these days is genuine.
