If one Ed didn't exist, how different would the other two Eds' lives be?

If one Ed didn't exist, how different would the other two Eds' lives be?

Without Eddy:
>Ed would occupy himself in his own little world, doing his own thing apart from the rest of the neighborhood
>Edd would be on civil terms with the rest of the kids, who'd mostly like him just fine, but he'd have trouble truly connecting with them and would still feel lonely as a result

Without Edd:
>Ditto from above with Ed
>Eddy would still be a con artist, but all of his scams would fail before they even start without Edd helping him out, so he'd be the same person but more bitter and lonely

Without Ed:
>Eddy and Edd's scams would probably be on a smaller scale without Ed lending a hand, but they'd also be more successful thanks to Ed not screwing everything up
>Edd would sort of be where he is in the show; that is, somewhat reviled as Eddy's co-conspirator but still more respected than him

Depends on which one, I think.
In their backstory, Ed and Eddy already knew each other as children before Double-D showed up and they were already pulling off scams.
I'd imagine that Eddy's scams would have a lot less amazing gadgets and be more like a freakshow. Case in point, the first scam that Ed and Eddy showed Double-D, by having Ed eat a TV and people paying to watch.
I'll let someone else think about how things would be if either Ed or Eddy didn't exist.

this kind of makes me want an EE&E that focuses on Eddy and Edd with Ed as a recurring background character

>No Eddy
DD would probably be good friends with Ed and try to educate him in his spare time, assuming he could leave his room and make friends in the first place without Eddy (which I doubt).

>No DD
Eddy would be doomed trying to create schemes only for most of them to never get off the ground, he would probably not learn much from his mistakes either and just rely on Ed as a yes man

>No Ed
Eddy and DD would probably not be on good terms without an optimistic third party to mellow things out

Pretty much this, except I don't think Ed and Edd would ever have hung out had it not been for Eddy. They may be on good terms with the other kids, but they'd still be outcasts.

>no Ed
Edd and Eddy would have to make do with smaller-scale but more successful scams, but with no one acting as the "heart" of the group, they'd be way more antagonistic to each other than they are in the show.
>no Edd
Eddy would be stuck making low-tech, downright dangerous scams that would fail even more spectacularly than in the actual show, and Ed would have no one to dote on him or at least not treat him like shit.
>no Eddy
Ed and Edd would still be outcasts and probably wouldn't even be friends. Edd would get along a little better with the other kids, but he'd be doing his own thing more often than not. Ed's a lost cause in this scenario, he'd be stuck being Sarah and Jimmy's henchman.

So like the movie?

Ed and Edd without Eddy, if they manage to be best friends still, could result in One + One = Ed but going even further. Imagine if Double D's interests and Ed's interests crossed over, and then it all leads into Ed and Double D taking 'toon physics' to the next level by unlocking the secrets of the universe and transcending their reality.

Edd and Eddy without Ed is just like any other "responsible guy, troublemaker" duo, where they're always at odds with each other and fight a lot.

>No Ed (The Capitalist route)
Eddy still befriends Edd and they do scams (albeit scaled back due to no muscle). The scams have a higher success rate despite the lower payout, but the two are more likely to have constant fall-outs where they don't talk to each other for a couple of days until Eddy goes crawling back and apologising. Outside chance they they befriend Johnny to serve as their third man, though mostly he just acts as their test dummy. The pair look down on all the kids and so aren't interested in befriending them, but as they roll in the jawbreakers they couldn't care less. Still hunted by the Kankers.

>No Edd (The Delinquent route)
Eddy and his henchman Ed are actually a bit more antagonist to the other kids as they don't have Edd to act as a moral compass for them. When none of Eddy's plans work, they resort to flat out bullying rather than scams with Eddy picking fights that Ed would step in to finish, because that's what his older brother would do. Eddy gets in Ed's head to not let Sarah push him around, and Kevin is often the kid made an example of. It's only when Rolf shows up does the street get someone who can stand up to the bullying pair. They willingly hang out at the trailer park as the Kankers are the only kids who seem to idolise their bad boy antics.

>No Eddy (The Different Friends route)
Ed is effectively a slave for Sarah and Jimmy at first, while Edd becomes the nerdy friend of Kevin and Nazz. Edd is still neurotic but is a little more outgoing. The Eds rarely interact at first, but in school it's likely that Edd would at some point try to tutor Ed, resulting in them become friendly. Ed would likely become more sociable after Rolf arrives, where he will spend much of his time down there on the farm or doing the scout thing with him to escape his home life. The Kankers butt heads with Nazz more than anyone in this timeline, seeing her as the only obstacle in the way between them and the only two cute boys on the cul-de-sac.

In the capitalist route, Johnny would probably still serve the same function to the Eds that he does in the show (IE, occasional third-party participant in their schemes).

Ed and Double D would be A LOT better off without Eddy.

All these actually sound very interesting to watch. Very good shit.

Not sure about Ed but Edd would be far better off without Eddy. He would probably be friends with Jimmy and on good terms with everyone.

Eddy's a horrible influence and may prevent Edd from finding his true potential.

I have a counterargument to that statement.

There was an episode where the eds were invited to a nazz party, Eddy told DD and Ed to socialize with the other kids and they failed horribly

>No Eddy
I could see Marie approaching Nazz on her own knowing she's not into Edd and asking to set him up on a date with her

there was an ep where they meet as toddlers, think double d was the new kid, ed and eddy were already hanging out but yeah, no success in scams.

>Eddy gets in Ed's head to not let Sarah push him around
Sounds like Eddy would hypnotize Ed to awaken his angry self, like when he got that pebble in his shoe, pure rage at his service.

>It's only when Rolf shows up does the street get someone who can stand up to the bullying pair.
Fucking based Rolf

Wasn't it basically confirmed that Edd and Ed were more or less primarily targeted by the other kids because they enabled Eddy?

>better off without Eddy
Eddy is the good guy and far from a bad influence on anyone. He comes up with genuinely enjoyable things for the cul-de-sac to do and would be successful 90% of the time if not for Ed fucking it up.

Ed is the main factor turning what would be the creative, ingenious duo of Eddy and Edd into the laughing stock of the neighborhood.

The two who are left would spread out a search for his replacement. Any Ed would do, and the more sociopathic the better. Balance would be quickly restored.

Eddy would have to be a total idiot to do so, Ed would just clobber him as well
