If Hussie dies I think I'd be thoroughly done with Homestuck. Vs. Star Wars there has never been a truly worthwhile Homestuck project that Hussie hasn't done, the brand really cannot exist without Hussie's input. The only reason why people even care is the possibility of Hussie writing literally anything, Homestuck or not, ever again. We kind of got that with the Cursed Histories, but it's clear those were written in the 2012 era, which puts the last confirmed Hussie writings at 2014-2015.

Because it doesn't read like Hussie. It reads like someone who didn't care or know anything about the characters. Tired Hussie is after Openbound: shit, but still recognizable in tone and style, at least to a degree. But the post-Retcon kids might as well be cosplayers dicking around in a Homestuck sim. Whoever wrote it had no idea what the fuck they were doing. No one acts like they should. Everything is fucked.
The art is also entirely made by fans after that point, leading many to believe that, along with the (even more egregious) decline in writing quality, Hussie had just divested himself from the comic entirely.

The thing that got me was that I also ended up swearing off relationships after the realization that I'm a horrible person

Fuck no, the endless mistakes of Act 6 are the results of dominoes that began to fall all the way back in Act 5. The only way to "fix" Homestuck would be to choose a point in the story and just deflect off into a totally different direction. Fixing Homestuck would mean rewriting most of Homestuck, and just being a better writer than Hussie has shown himself to be..
